HD picture is no better via satellite upgrade. Cost went up. Quality went down due to a black/gray horizontal Genie bar cutting off the top part of the screen. So, I am paying more for less picture. Often heads of people or words on screen are blocked. Bad! & no fix.
DIRECTV can't get their s*** together. Three different channels I wanted to watch today were unavailable because contracts had expired. It would be different if this weren't a common place event. Sort out your business dealings. Doing anything else shows you have zero regard for your customers. This has everything to do with corporate profits at the expense of customers. 1 star, only because zero is not an option. Do not recommend.
After connecting to Direct TV, I realized what a big mistake it was. The technician did not have the TV display and the remote control working right. The technician also misplaced or stole some of the previous TV companies equipment. When trying to get the equipment back I learned how poorly Direct TV is managed. The technicians don't have a clue, the phone people who all have a terrible foreign accent cannot help with anything will just put you on hold, l've spent hours on the phone and gotten no where and have no where to go with my TV problems. I'll have to pay for the stolen part and now have 2 years of terrible TV. Don't make the same mistake I did.
Cancelled my service over a year ago because the price kept getting higher and higher. A year latter they called and said I owed 187.00 for equipment not returned. I returned everything they gave me via ups. They called and said they received it. When I told them they said oh sorry it was for an outstanding balance and threatened to ruin my credit and send it to an agency. I had to pay it. I recommend staying as far away from these people as possible
They over charged us over 700$ on my bill and will not reimburse me.spent over 4 hours on the phone with there customer service and got nowhere. Please do not use this company unless you want to get ripped off. I guess my next step is an attorney.
Paid for a service like ESPN but forget the channels beçause they ate in a dispute with ABC. I PAY FORE CHANNELS AND I EXPECT TO GET THEM NOT A SORRY WERE ARE IN A DISPUTE. Don't sign up for Direct tv they are a terrible company that treats there customers like crap. Then when your finally out of your contract they don't even allow you to choose when you wish to quit your service. Don't give them any of your hard earned money.
We finally got channel 2 after several months. We get all sports except baseball and to add baseball they want another $121 a month. We also don't get GAC channel and many others. The sound messes up and you have to turn off the TV and back on to correct the issue. The only good thing is the remote that you can talk to about what you want to watch.
My TV has worked about3 hours in the 6 weeks I have had direct TV. I have spent about 10 hours on the phone with so called technical experts who are rude, insolent and worthless. I have been told twice a supervisor would call back and none did.
The contraption they sent me to stream direct TV is defective yet they insist on repeating worthless exercises to confirm and then still haven't sent new one.
Direct also does not work on vizio which is one of my televisions.
Nothing is better than Direct. Then you at least are not paying for nothing.

Terrible customer service, they didn't show up or call twice in a row for the same issue. Both times I called they didn't know what I was talking about and spoke badly about the previous customer service employees I spoke to not doing their jobs. I was not offered help with figuring out how to fix our issue but I was scheduled in 20 days. We have been with direct tv for 10+ years
Whatever you do, DO NOT get direct tv! It's like you stepped back 30 yrs. In time! TERRIBLE service with antiquated graphics/technology! Also, tricked into 2 year contract through AT&T bundle, with a cancellation penalty of $470! Direct is so bad that we will pay the cancellation just to get out!
I called today, 03-04-24, due to my directv not working well. We talked to a rep on 03-03-24 and we asked to have our equipment swapped, to which they agreed. I got the confirmation email on the 4th and they told me I'd have to sign a commitment for 2 more years. I've been a customer since 1998 except for 2'years. So I called them and inquired about just getting WORKING equipment they said SURE, you will need to commit for 2 more years. So, I'm guessing cable here I come, sure glad I was loyal.
I cancelled my service after 10 plus years. I then returned the equipment a month prior to them requiring it back. They then charged me for the equipment, not giving me any reason why. I called multiple times and each time a CSR would place me on hold and never return back. Now the crap company has reported this fee against my credit. I highly recommend never signing up with this company.

Tip for consumers:
The black genie bar is temporary on other tv sets, but viewing on the main tv w/DVR & receiver is permanently marred by only a partial screen that the customer service in the Phillipines cannot remove,

Service totally sucks. For the past 4 weeks it keeps dropping reception. Not just once a day either. Since 6am this morning we have lost reception 5 times. Guess we'll be going to spectrum. This is ridiculous, they raised our rate and the service went to hell.
They said I shorted them on a payment.I payed full payment for 6 years perfect payment history.I sent them proof of payment and the still suspended my acct.
I call customer service again they wanted me to pay a balance.I said no way am I going to pay again,so they said pay or cancle.
Spectrum will be here at 8 am to hook me up.By direct tv your customer service is horrible get your act together.
After calling to complain because the information I received about the service cancellation was incorrect I was billed more money because of equipment not being returned.
I have never been billed by Direct TV always AT & T.
After cancelling service because of lack of good speed and internet I had to change service to Spectrum. I called and asked about equipment return. I have a letter from AT & T saying I didn't have any equipment to return. They told me the dish was not to be returned. Now Direct TV says yes I do have equipment to return. Please get your teams together on what to tell your customers. You have terrible customer service.

We are business account for years. Today we have issues with the signal. I was on the phone for 47 minutes, and was rudely told that I needed to speak to the business account, although I dialed that number.
This must be the worst customer service I have ever experienced. And again, this is a long standing business account. How do you keep your clients... It's mind blowing...
They keep losing channels due to "contract disputes" with their channel suppliers and/or "technical difficulties". Both excuses last months without the channels. Meantime they keep raising prices. A waste of time and money.
A lighting strike damage our satellite boxes. They scheduled a technician to be here between 12 and 4 pm. At 12:15 Brandon was in our house,he replaced the boxes and checked all our connections to ensure nothing else was damaged. He was friendly and attentive. Job well done and thanks to Direct TV for the early response.

I ordered DirecTV and when the technician came to my home he told us that he had to run wires and drill holes in the wall and we told him we did not want the service and even spoke to his supervisor and told him we did not want the service. We assumed since we told two people with DirecTV that we didn't want the service that they would not bill us. I received 3 months of billing and they told me too bad because I didn't pick up the phone an cancel. Why do I need to go out of my way to call when I already told the technician and his supervisor that I didnt' want the service. Don't get scammed like I did.
After working with the DirecTV tech support ladies in the Philippines to get a receiver updated, I ran out of patience after just over 2 hours. The last lady must have asked about home addresses and receiver numbers 5 times or more. I think we were in a never ending loop, so I just cancelled the order. I definitely would not recommend them although I have been with them for over 25 years.

Horrific... the people from a foreign country use 'filler words' to extend the conversation by at least two times the necessary time on the phone. I have come to tell these people gently... please stop using extra words... please do your job quickly and efficiently because my time is valuable. At least this stops the chatter in my ear... they can not move quickly... period and service other calls while they put you on hold for five minutes at a time. And, if you ask to speak to a supervisor, you'll get no one but a false promise that a supervisor will call within 30 minutes. If you get a bad rep on the phone, ask to be transferred to someone different because you can't understand them. I will never use this company for anything... ever again. AT&T is now DirecTV... done with both. And if you get SETH on the phone, get ANYONE else but him to help you. I am copying and pasting this review to any site that will take it. They don't send reviews after calls -- they don't care about customer service... period... know that before you waste your time and money.
Waiting for Direct tv to answer the calls is crazy last time it took them 1 hour and 40 minutes today I got to 50 minutes and hanged up can't even get someone on the phone it's crazy switching back to xfinity I can't belive Direct tv and last person I spoke too a few weeks ago screamed at me and my husband and told us to shut up I asked if he could talk to us politely he said no and if we didn't like it he can hang up and we could wait in line again.
Whatever sports you want to watch forget it. You think you have it because it shows on the guide. But when the game starts you get this stupid error message. On a ton of games. DirectTV is a scam and I don't know how they're still in business with how terrible their commercial and residential plans are.

Refused to move automatic payment three days. Offered to suspend service for those days and start a new due date. This is STUPID! This service has increased from 59 to 79. Stated when I signed up 59 was for a year but then changed to 3 months. Increased to 69 after the 3 months then 74 in three months and again 3 months to 79. There are too many other streaming services such as YOUTUBE which offer more and are cheaper. I am seriously going to consider going to another service with more concern about retaining their streaming customers who wish to pay their bills with automatic paymentson different days when the service was a one price and has increased 20 in less than a year.
Might just be the area but roof mounted direct line of sight south and still half the time it has to switch over to "streaming" to receive the channel. Used to get DTV because they had NFL Sunday ticket but now that's on YouTube. Last thing is you'll be bombarded with sales calls telling you you can get Show Time or whatever free for a month or so and can cancel at anytime. The company they use are rude and obnoxious on the phone. I only have it as a convenience thing now.
