HD picture is no better via satellite upgrade. Cost went up. Quality went down due to a black/gray horizontal Genie bar cutting off the top part of the screen. So, I am paying more for less picture. Often heads of people or words on screen are blocked. Bad! & no fix.
DIRECTV can't get their s*** together. Three different channels I wanted to watch today were unavailable because contracts had expired. It would be different if this weren't a common place event. Sort out your business dealings. Doing anything else shows you have zero regard for your customers. This has everything to do with corporate profits at the expense of customers. 1 star, only because zero is not an option. Do not recommend.
Had direct tv for years. Cancelled due to continued increase cost and every time it rained - no TV. Over paid final bill by $77. Called for refund on 10/13/22 was told it would take awhile, it's now 11/24/22 still no refund. They have no idea how to treat customers - a lot of lip service. BEWARE!

Long time customer finally had enough! Prices ridiculous. CEO could care less about the elderly. Had basic plan and internet went from 124 a month to 174 a month. Done, I'll save 1500 a year which is great for me on fixed income. Seniors should have a discount especially after being a long time customer. Plus the cancellation of newsmax and oan mad me mad. Tired of corporations forgetting how they got where they are! Adios direct tv! I'm out!
We have had DirecTV for over 20 years and just moved. We set up an appointment to get a new dish installed and hooked up. The tech came and I am assuming he didn't want to work that day because he talked us into switching to your new streaming service. He said he ordered us everything we needed and it would be here by Friday. It never came so we called. Turns out, that guy never ordered anything and all the customer service reps we talked to couldn't speak English and kept hanging up on us. We were loyal customers and are so disappointed in how we have been treated. We are probably going to switch to a different service.

In the last year I have lost 4 channels of which two were major channels and my monthly payment has not changed. Also I lost access to the NFL Package. Service is really going downhill. I will definitely be looking into Dish or local cable network
I call every 3 weeks and am told the same thing. So sorry the prior agent did everything right. It's the credit department who has to send the refund. I ask to speak with a supervisor and am told the customer service center supervisor is not taking calls from the customers! Hmmm…what does the supervisor do? I think they just hope I and other customers will just forget about our credit balances and go away…I always thought AT&T was the worst telecommunications company ever. Direct TV has them beat. Next step I plan to file a complaint with our state attorney general. And keep calling. I won't give up on getting the credit they owe me.
Just got the 4th billing statement again showing a credit balance!
If I could have given zero stars I would have. This company makes you work for them. There is always billing issues and if you want to suspend service while on out pay they make you call back after the bill gets paid instead of just scheduling it. I was on the phone with someone I could not understand and it took 30 minutes to tell me this. If I can find another service in my area...good bye
Directv is overpriced, has bad customer service and is UnAmerican because it censors free speech and truth. I was blocked from it's blog for stating truth. Directv is censoring content because they have become pure propagandists who only want to put programs who lie to it's customers instead of those who tell the truth. Directv is no better than those who ban books they do not like. I will be utilizing my freedom of choice against this Un American company by dumping them like a rock and going to free, fair, less expensive streaming services.
Tip for consumers:
Streaming is cheaper and you can get all programs instead of the "propaganda" Directv only wants it's customers to have access to.

Got there service in November 2022 and was promised a reward card well it's now in July 23 2023 and still waiting for that reward card. They have no intention of ever sending those cards out just to get you to sign up and they receive that money each month. They can cash those checks but no way they are going to hold there side of the contract. So if you are like me I will be looking for another company for tv.

Dropping One American news just because they don't fit into your communistic narrative is disgusting. People don't care about your political affiliations. They pay for a service that they want. I hope you go bankrupt.
You'll do better in China.
The dependability of this network is TERRIBLE at best.
Constant buffering. Endless Run Diagnosis screen. 75% of the time the sound is not in sync with the picture.
And God forbid you get on your laptop while trying to watch a program. Good luck with that.
We were moving to a new home in same city. Called to get service moved. They rep said they didn't offer same satellite service at my new address. That we had to have Streaming…then the nightmare and double the monthly bill now because I no longer qualify for my promotion I had this year. What?!? Really?!? For their employee making this mistake costs a loyal customer money every month! Wow…after hours of frustration and phone calls, I'm going to be searching for a new provider
I've been on the phone with Directv customer service for hours this week. Unbelievably bad. Problem with streaming on nba league pass. Spoke with one person at Directv who said it was a known issue but when he transferred me to someone else to fix it, they didn't have a clue what I was talking about.
Company has been declining exponentially the last few years...With all the optional streaming competition, they should be more proactive to keep customers...Looks like they are going to follow Blockbuster and Yellowpages into oblivion...If you are employed by them, you might update your resume...
Do not get this service. They $#*!ing suck $#*!. All their channels get canceled due to both the channel and DIRECTV fighting like little $#*!ing babies over money. But yet you still have us pay the same rate you're a $#*!ty company you have $#*!ty service especially in the rain and snow and cold season. It always goes in and out of service while you're watching. Right now the latest channel to go is king 5 if you're living in the Seattle Washington area again if you're looking for service do not get this at all. You pay for a $#*!ty service and you get none of your extras because they are always blacked out or they say you're not signed up for this channel so you have to call and fight with them for a $#*!ing hour it's not worth it stay away they are gutter punks
Direct TV is a different company. I was with them for 20 years. They are horrible. Upper management is running the customers out! They don't know how to treat customers even the very loyal ones. Too bad there isn't room for common sense.
Tip for consumers:
Have everything in writing. If you talk to customer service make them email you the conversation. They document things that didn't happen and even say they tried to call back when they didn't. I even offered to send them my call log to prove the supervisor didn't call.

Got a bill that was double the agreed amount.
I have been with DirecTV for several years and they are always working toward improving the ease of using their website, making live person assistance available to customers. I love their service. Bad weather rarely interferes with the signal, service is almost never interrupted and ordering movies from them is easy. I ESP am glad they have a few safety features in place to keep us from accidentally ordering extra movies, etc.
Rude customer service. My bill was supposed to be $107.00 a month and was always $70.00 more the. That! Would spend hours on the phone with them to find out they screwed up! Do your self a favor and AVOID this cable company!

Spent better part of 3 days and hours on the phone talking to people from god know where just to cancel my service. They make it so very difficult and timely you almost will not do it. I'm sure they get that from the communist rules.
Tip for consumers:
Don’t start with them.

This has to be the worst service in the world. I have had to rely on Directv to watch baseball and it's the only reason we have stayed. I can't even get the service to work, Bally Sports tells me that Directv won't recognize my subscription, yet they continue to charge us. It's just not worth the battle any longer. I suppose I'll listen to baseball on static filled radio. Awful just awful customer service with tech support from people that I can't even understand. Hours of our lives spent begging for a signal from the dish. I'm done.

Good programming and service but you definitely pay for it in monthly charges and fees! Then they put $853 on my credit report when I closed my account. They did change it to paid but it's still there so creditors think I had a collection account. The rules to leave them are very tricky!
Had an appointment to relocate my dish. The first appointment they sent out a contractor with a piss poor attitude which nearly ended in a fight and nothing accomplished. The second day they sent out a Direct tv employee. The technician (Juan C) was smiling and helpful. He wanted to make sure I was satisfied and went above and beyond to accomplish that. It actually reminded me of what service once looked like. Thank you Juan!
We had an appointment with a Direct TV tech person for a home visit. That was supposed to happen during a 4 hour window. We're now more than 3 hours past that window & have given up on anyone showing up. I called to find out what's going on & could understand nothing the phone person said. What little I did understand was definitely a run-around. I regret ever having hooked up with this sorry excuse for a satellite dish TV company.
I guess it depends on the person answering the phone. But I am tired of hearing all the "deals" for new customers while existing customers like myself pay out the hoo boo for services. If/when I call they have now jumped on the bandwagon of selling useless add on junk. Customer service... Blah. However when you live in the country, your choices are limited and this is the better of two bad choices.
I've had several TV providers and DirectTV is the worst. Buffers a lot even when I have high speed internet. Very hard to navigate the guide and channels. I would get rid of them if I could get another TV provider in my area. Horrible app.
As they are with ATT, I thought they would be great to deal with. They are not that way at all. Price is higher then Dish, but not by a lot. The problem with them is when you stop service. Had them for over 4 years. When I moved and disconnected, sent all the equipment back, I still after 2 months did not get my credit owed back. Trying to call them to ask about it, I kept getting transferred back to ATT and not getting transferred to Direct. 3 separate occasions, it took more then 4 or 5 attempts to finally reach a Direct TV associate. Still haven't received the debit card they refund any overpayment on. Any company that is in business should be almost as quick to handle refunds as they are in taking your money for the service. I chose them as I have ATT cell service which I love. But I cannot in good conscious recommend Direct TV. Absolute run around when you have to try and reach them after a disconnect.
