HD picture is no better via satellite upgrade. Cost went up. Quality went down due to a black/gray horizontal Genie bar cutting off the top part of the screen. So, I am paying more for less picture. Often heads of people or words on screen are blocked. Bad! & no fix.
DIRECTV can't get their s*** together. Three different channels I wanted to watch today were unavailable because contracts had expired. It would be different if this weren't a common place event. Sort out your business dealings. Doing anything else shows you have zero regard for your customers. This has everything to do with corporate profits at the expense of customers. 1 star, only because zero is not an option. Do not recommend.
Last year i contacted them to discontinue service after 14 years. They offered a discount in services, Visa gift card and NFL Sunday ticket for free for 2018. The card NEVER arrived. This is the second time they promises a card that has never arrived, but their bill does every month. They asked i called them in Feb 2018 to confirm 2018 NFL Sunday ticket free subscription. I called and they confirmed. Now after nearly a year of monthly payments, I do not have a subscription. I called to request correction to my account and they claim they conveniently have no record and asked if I had the EXACT words of the promise. I guess I need to record calls to get them to honor their agreements. Since I do not have Sunday ticket I lose nothing by changing to Comcast. Comcast made me a better offer and appear to appreciate my business. If directv has cheated you, definitely check out Comcast.
I call them constantly to stop calling my cell phone and leaving voicemail. Hopefully all the negative reviews will stop them from calling. They wast mine, yours and their time doing crap advertisements.

I pay for the ability to rent movies on-line, but can't because the technician didn't hook my unit to the in-house telephone line. I'd have to pay extra to have them come back out to do this and I won't do that. Anytime it rains, I lose service, which I didn't do with our last company. I will be leaving them as soon as possible and won't go back.
Lose service half of the time with just the slightest bit of rain or snow. Lose channels constantly and have to reset while system. And take more and more channels away but we're still paying a hefty amt. If money! Do not recommend!
I've had directv for four years. I've not been disappointed. Now, they DID just raise their rates, so I'm a little disappointed there. I live in Tucson and love my Pac-12 ncaa bball. Dish has several Pac-12 channels. Directv has one Arizona sports channel ad or rarely EVER got anything playing on it.
But those things being said, I love my Directv. I pay abt $120/mo, but I get all channels and a couple premium channels.
I have been trying to process my cable bill for the past two weeks they have such incompetent people they have not yet been able to process my payment hear this direct tv pay my bill or I sue you when you cut off my cable I have saved my money in there
They just steal your money & they don't care bout their loyal customers they will charge you after your yr is up it's not worth the money do not get involved with direct tv that 2 yr contract is just a a bunch of bs & u have to pay whatever they say & they will not work with u even tho they can they do not care
Tip for consumers:
don’t do a contract for 2 years because their price is only good for a year then they add $70 xtra to your bill which u have to pay no matter what
They are so petty, they put up a news mix channel and only put liberal channels on it, plus 2 weather channels. They put Newsmax on and another so called conservative channel but put a gay channel between them. What a bunch of $#*!s.
I got DirecTV because I was unable to get high speed internet to do any live streaming. Even after I recorded the on demand shows most the time it won't let me watch him cuz my internet's not fast enough to download the commercials. If my internet will make it through the commercials the show is fine the watch. We should not have to have internet connection to stream the commercials.
Tip for consumers:
If you're getting DirecTV because your internet is too slow to stream, don't. It will still not be able to watch several shows even after you record them because you have to download the commercials to your internet.

Technician showed up an hour and a 1/2 late and refused to do anything. Would not even walk in the house and check the service on A755 code. Can't give them any stars if they don't give me any service.
Tip for consumers:
If you request service make sure you ask is the technician able to perform the service i need to restore service, to include going on the roof if necessary.
Salesperson said we could get 2 years for a locked price. We had automatic payments and it was not till month 14 we noticed price almost doubled. Called Directv and they told us we had to call before the end of 12th month and cancel premium channels to keep low price. We asked to revert to the price prior to the end of the 1 year mark and "No can do." We cancelled service and $127.37 went to collections for several years. My wife's credit was damaged and just recently we paid the $127.37. No help from Directv whatsoever. Directv has the power to call credit companies and ruin a customer's credit with little or no recourse for the consumer. It would be nice for Directv to "Assume" some responsibility for lack of transparencies during sales pitch.
If I am watching a program get a message saying no internet service. I call and am told its the software Also I am using outdated equipment, and they will not replace what I have. I pay over $100 a month for crappy service. How does a person get better service?
DirecTV offered free installation and a very low price with an asterisk beside the dollar amount. When the 12 month lease was over, our bill quadrupled, and DirectTV demanded that I climb onto the roof and remove the satellite, disassemble it and ship it back in the box which was left on my doorstep. I am disabled, and am too large to climb onto the roof. I have since went ahead and cut the cord. I now use roku, netflix, sling, and Home theater PC with plex... also a 50 mile over the air antenna from Amazon which was a one-time purchase, and gives me 11 premium channels. Also, I buy new releases with Ultra Violet, so that I may stream them whenever I want.
I've bounced back and forth between Direct TV and Dish over the years, never really happy with either and switching when their customer service (or actually, lack of) pushed me too far. I've had many frustrations with Direct TV over the last few years, so I finally called to find out if my contract had expired so I could try Dish again. WOW! What a difference this customer service experience was. When the girl from another country (who was very sweet) couldn't help, she immediately transferred me to someone actually in the US in their brand-new Loyalty Department. She started with, "what don't you like about your Direct TV experience?" and addressed every issue one at a time. I even got a monthly discount for a year WITHOUT having to start a new contract. My opinion of them has changed completely, and I would now wholeheartedly recommend Direct TV!:-)
We've been customers for over 20 years and today was the last straw! We called because we were moving and needed the equipment moved and set up. Told us it would be over 2 weeks befthey could come and install. They arrived on time the tech was great but couldn't get anything to work because someone had messed up the move order. After 3 hrs on the phone and 2 more after the had to leave still not solved, and the icing on the cake is the next appointment was in June. Cancelled my account and sending the boxes back. Customer service sucks! Get people in the US to work for you not some foreign country!
I have been put on hold and waited too long repeatedly. Also transferred 4 times and asked the same questions and then told they need to transfer. Never got an answer before I gave up. Have no service. I couldn't cancel because they said the office is closed. Arrgghh

When moving over to Direct TV, we were approached about purchasing extended coverage for our TV, laptop, etc. The guy who "upsold" us straight out lied about the "coverage" we purchased stating that it covered any damage to the TV, laptops, etc. When we had an issue (after two years of paying for coverage), they told us we were NOT covered but we "could have been if we purchased the premium plan." What a scam! Clearly, they are liars who cannot be trusted! We will seek out a new provider for our TV services and will never be duped again by a disgusting company like Direct TV!
Signed up a year ago, and they promised my bill would not go up. A year to the date my bill went from $150 a month to $246, called them and the best rate I could get was $195 a month. Tried canceling my service, which was $240 early termination fee (cheaper than my monthly bill) and now they don't pro-rate termination date so my get out of contract fee will be $286. $#*! service and worse customer care. BEWARE! Went back to dish for exact service for $110 month
Tip for consumers:
Stay away
I've had Directv for 2 years and have had nothing but issue after issue. They finally agreed to provide me a new router. The one they issued me was 5 years old and never worked probably. I received the new router and returned the old one. One month later, I received a notice that my account had been charged $127.20 because I "failed to return" the original piece of junk. One hour on the phone convincing them I had returned it. This is a grift. A good way for ATT to get customers to pay for their useless crap.
Save yourself the time and the money. As a Sports Bar + Restaurant we have 25+ TV's and we had thought DirecTV would be a great choice. We couldn't have been more wrong. We had a day of installation, and then right off the bat some TV's worked and some didn't. We have spoken to countless representatives and put in countless work orders just for them to not show up, or when they do... they try to charge us for their mistakes. The programs haven't EVER worked right. We've been fighting them to fix their problems since the first day of improper installation. We've spent an insane amount of money for a consistently terrible turn out. Please please please save yourself the time and energy. Choose anybody else for TV.
They don't know how to do their job not to be rude, but they have no English speakers. They can't even do their job and on top of that they don't even disclose any of the information that you're supposed to be told.
I have pictures of all receipts and of equipment and they owe me this very frustrating ive spent more time with this pass the buck and getting no where is there some way to charge them for my srvices if i cant get this settled should i cancel all att services been with att since 1960s
I have to reset my boxes daily and i still get pauses, delays and outages in my service. When I call, they don't do anything except tell me to what I already did. I don't know why I kept it this long. I will no longer work qith Direct TV or ATT. Customer service is some of the worst I've ever had to deal with. Run, don't walk away from this service and this company

They are impossible to deal with! We've been customers for close to 30 years. They used to be good when they were a stand alone TV service. Since they joined w/ ATT they are HORRIBLE!. ATT is so vad I even changed phone service. THAT was the best move I ever made! My bill went up from $125.00 to $194.43! The programming is good if you like a lot of junk viewing. Just spent 1 hr+ on the phone w/ them. I'm going to switch to the Choice plan which will be $164 until next May when it will go up to $202 (& that's without HBO, Showtime)! So, now I'm looking for a new TV service. Their customer service is terrible. Don't get involved w/ them! Their pricing changes every time you talk to them. They seem a bit confused as well. I don't care what their accent is, etc. I DO care that they don't seem to know what they are doing. Don't believe anything they tell you. Make sure you document everything you discuss & include date & time. It will be helpful. Hit the wrong star for sevice. It is a zero
Nothing works right. When signing up they say what channels you get a part of the packages. But that is not true they end up charging extra for the packages they said one gets as a part of the package. Nothing works right no matter what it is. Saving a video like a football game it may save 3/4 of the game but the 4th Qt it doesn't record it. When watching a saved video when you stop and go back to resume watching it starts the video all over. DirecTV is the worst of the Worst!
Get $200 in AT&T Visa reward cards when you switch to DIRECTV. Prices Start at just $35/mo! Enjoy the #1 rated customer satisfaction over cable: DIRECTV.
