Discord is great for joining servers based off of content you enjoy, especially for gamers. You can also keep in touch with friends and family on discord, definitely worth it!
I am relatively new to the Discord community, since I started using it back in 2018. However, my experience with it has been mostly great so far. It is a very reliable and easy way for me to keep in touch with friends and meet other like-minded people. The whole interface to the program is very easy to use and get used to. It is basically like a modern day version of IRC (Internet Relay Chat) with all the bells and whistles. It is a nice and easy way to join and interact in various online communities that you have an interest in. Sure, there are some unpleasant things and people you have to deal with sometimes, but that goes for any social media platform out there. In my experiences, I have had less issues while using Discord, as compared to some other similar platforms out there. If you have never used Discord before and are interested and/or are looking for a good alternative to online communities and chats, go give them a test drive. If you end up not liking it, you can just simple stop using it and delete it. Simple as that.
Discord is better than that dumba** Opengeofiction because they don't bully people as much because they aren't dumb idiots, unlike the Opengeofiction admin. This is the best social media site to ever exist. SCREW Elon Musk! Screw Facebook! Screw Wojcicki! They are never gonna be like this discord because it is so much better!
Someone would expect a corporation with 100 million plus endusers to have a fairly adequate support organization; think again. To begin Discord has no live support via voice nor even online chat. They give what little support they can via email. So this multi-billion dollar organization will take days, perhaps weeks to attempt to give assistance. And yet, such simple tasks such as recovering an account is beyond their capacity and capabilities. They simply ignore your request. I've had situations where a customer service representative was unable to assist due to the nature of level 1 support and on occasion required escalation to higher capable support levels. With Discord there is no support past Level 1 and thus you cannot expect anything but corporate claptrap when they respond. If they respond at all. This was the single worst instance of incompetence I've ever experienced from an IT development corporation.
NOTE: to assure safety regarding subscriptions, etc I suggest you use a payment service such as PayPal where you can terminate the ability of someone from racking up additional charges your account once your aware. You can then get Discord to eventually refund unauthorized transactions just don't expect it to be promptly processed. Obviously PayPal, or your bank will investigate and return your funds but that can take awhile. By using PayPal you won't have to replace your bank card (debit/credit).
I love using Discord because it allows me to be able to talk with all my friends whether they be on Xbox, PlayStation or PC, we can all be together and play games together without missing a beat! However, it can be frustratingly annoying at times and especially here in UAE it is blocked which makes it all the harder to use when all you want to do is play games with your friends and be able to talk to each other!
Discord is miles ahead of the competition when t comes to creating an interactive chat server/forum and uniting people under common interests or goals.
Do you like to chat with literate people about topics you love in civil discourse?
Discord is NOT the place for you.
There is no actual policing in Discord servers. Spam is rampant. $#*!posting is common. Sexism, racism, hatred of any kind? As long as the moderators like it, you're subject to it.
I was banned for triggering someone. Were they decent enough to tell me their problem? Of course not. If the moderators don't want explanations--and I've seen over a dozen where the mods don't 'put up with' explanations, or even understand what an explanation is (I got a warning for defining what I meant by the word 'weird')--too bad. You're kicked out because you didn't know you needed to walk on eggshells.
Oh, is a moderator obviously siding with one person or a group of a certain race or orientation and they think it's okay to discriminate against everyone who isn't that group? If you're surprised, you haven't been on Discord servers.
Let's say you're banned for a stupid reason. An abusive reason. The moderator told you that you broke their rules when you did not or they made rules that were one-sided or didn't even bother to mention rules--this happens often. Surely you can report this and get justice right?
Hahahaha. NO. If you ever figure out Discord's complicated way of submitting a report, all you'll get is the admins telling you to block that person and problems will be solved. Yes, block the moderator who banned you and your problems will go away. It would be less stressful to hire a hacker and put up with the charges filed against you. At least you would know someone who actually does intend to dole out real justice now.
"My Discord account was permanently suspended for a violation I did not commit. I never shared anything against their policies, and my account was never compromised. I submitted multiple support tickets, but they were marked as 'Resolved' without any response. The support system is terrible, and there is no way to get proper help. I need my case to be reviewed properly, but I have received no update. Discord needs to improve their support process!"
Answer: It is easy chat, video call, and set up an account.
