Dish had terrible service. After 3 years they still haven't ever fully installed the satellite receiver. Went up on the prices once a year and charged me with any extra month after I ended my service then sent me to collections when I didn't pay a bill I didn't know I had!
Subscribing to dish was a mistake don't do it!

What is wrong with dish? I have had nothing but problems with this company. Service techs have been to my home numerous times to allegedly fix problems with our dish reception, however, nothing to date has succeeded. I only with we lived in an area where we could have a choice of another provider. Each time they come to our home they fix or add something to our service which costs more money and still doesn't fix the problem.
We used to receive the Seattle Mariners baseball games, however, they have blacked out all Mariner games now and increased the price of our service.
I don't believe there is anything Dish Network could do to appease my wife and I at this point, other than end their entire operation and eliminate the entire company.
Now I'm asked to add proof of purchase! I don't even know what that would be so, I will ignore it.
I am so frustrated with dish service this time around. I loose signal 4-5 times a week. Also when I fast forward through commercials after having live tv paused for an hour it will freeze up and screen goes black. I have to change the Chanel to get a show back and then I loose the show I'm watching
We have been Dish customers for some time, but since they dropped NBC, we have been dissatisfied. So, we called to cancel. They are charging us a $200 early termination fee. That's unfair, they said we'd get our local channels and we don't. We're glad to be done with them, they are not the only tv provider available.
Im only giving one star because zero stars in Not an option. I get better connections with a coat hanger. The on demand is worthless. The menu is stupid af. It takes literally 24 hours before I can watch a movie from on demand. Not good channels. I literally have to fix my TV daily because of issues.
I have had dish for several years. Every football season they go into negotiations with a network and take them offline from their programing. I pay for these channels. Of course, I can order and pay for additional channels to see a game.
Today, I cannot watch the Buffalo - Miami playoff game because it is on cbs.
Do not sign up for dish.
Tried to cancel service for 5 days five different times of the day and night. Kept on hold for over 45 minutes each time. Tried using chat online and was told had to call to cancel service. Finally stopped my automatic payment and shipped equipment back to El Paso, TX in my own box. Will not be paying anymore bills for this service.
Their guy went out of his way to be nasty. He did this several times. After not making the equipment work properly I threw him out of my house for his own good.
And what about the discounts I was promised? I have been told a number of times they would call me to correct that. So what did they do? Shut down my service before the bill was even due. Still waiting for that return call!
I have had Dish since 1998. They have always provided quality service until recently. They have been dropping the signal. Black outs in the middle of movies. Much crap of restarting the joey or hopper to get going... Not only that, many channels have been dropped. I am a huge hockey fan and can no longer watch my local NHL, NBC sports affiliate. I have been told for the last year and a half that they " are working on it." I have been paying approximately $170 a month for what amounts to basic cable. I have tried to speak to a customer service and gotten nowhere. Tomorrow, I am calling Direct TV to see what they have to offer. So done with Dish. Zero loyalty to long term customers. What a joke.
Dish net is not good service provider. Do not sign with them.
They are just doing business to take money from you. I am 25 year customer, I can not cancel my service even though i did not sign any contract. Every associates should be on same page.
Answer: Because it sounds great to have 1200 channels even if 1195 channels are nothing but infomercials, most people like me think wow I will have so many movies to watch I might have to record 5 while I watch 1 but after you get your 1200 channels you realize most every movie you would like to see can only be viewed if you pay an extra rental fee, another huge disadvantage to satellite tv is the frequency of commercials and the time the commercials are shown, regular tv used to be a 2 minute commercial break, dish network and directv have over 5 minute commercial breaks
