I cannot recommend Jonathan at Distinctive Gem enough! From first contact to post-delivery follow-up, communication has been timely, efficient, and on-point.

Let me start by saying Jonathan's knowledge of diamonds is undeniably one of the best in the business. I've watched videos and read articles by him, and they really are insightful. The Opulence Oval is absolutely gorgeous!

That being said, my issue is that Jonathan wasn't upfront with the costs. Yes, his website says that you pay for shipping on returns, but when he explicitly says "I could provide you with return shipping label at my cost" then deducts all the shipping costs from the refund, it definitely affected my experience working with him. I understand as he lost some money on shipping and spent a lot of his personal time helping me. However, I was out ~$200 from "shipping and transportation costs" because I did not purchase a diamond from him.

In the end, I would recommend his diamonds and service, but only if you know for sure what to buy. If you are unsure about a diamond, there are many other retailers out there that ship you the loose stone and do returns for free.

Johnathan and his staff really excel in customer service. They were very helpful and knowledgeable. Most of the process for me was done through text message or email which was great to do secretively. There was a minor hiccup with the order in the end but it was corrected quickly and the final product was better than I imagined. The ring is beautiful and I couldn't be happier! I will continue to recommend them to friends and family. Thank you!

If you are even remotely considering a stone from Jonathan's August Vintage collection, stop thinking and just do it. Believe me, you will not be disappointed. I purchased an AV cushion just last week and I can not even begin to describe how beautiful and unique this diamond is. And the personal service that Jonathan provided was second to none. Also, if you haven't browsed the August Vintage Youtube channel, I really would encourage you to do so. Jonathan provides an incredible amount of insight on the science behind what makes for a beautiful diamond in a very digestible manner-- I felt incredibly empowered after watching his tutorials. Jon and his team are *wonderful*. I sent a picture of a ring I had fallen in love with to show Jon what kind of cut I had wanted and he nailed it! It is such a beautiful and perfectly cut diamond and the customer service was amazing. The communication was great and made me feel like a treasured customer, not just another name to get money out of. The setting is beautiful as well and really compliments the stone, the prongs are perfectly aligned to the facets and flush so there's no snagging. I won't hesitate to be a return customer for any future diamond needs-I don't think anyone else can do it better!

Jonathan will help you find whatever it is you are looking for and without feeling rushed to complete a sale. For me Jonathan picked out three different ovals within my parameters and made an individual video as well as pictures online to compare them.

He was then patient enough to allow for multiple back and forth in regards to a custom ring without anything but enthusiasm for the process. Through skype and emails over a few weeks we finally nailed down the design. All I can say is she loved everything about it and without Jonathan's help none of this would have been possible.

I can not say enough about Jonathan in regards to his professionalism and knowledge he provided whenever I had questions. Would recommend him to anyone looking for a unique and personal experience to helping you find exactly what you are looking for!
