I love it! Been a member almost 18 years now! It's pretty much the center of my otherwise boring life! Many very, very fine, very helpful people for everything from hardware and software issues, personal and life issues, home improvement, politics, you name it. The forums is of course where it's at. Moderation is maybe a little strict but you can't have your cake and eat it too! Again, it's the quality of the membership that's first rate, making the site very good indeed!
Worst forum website I have ever participated in. If the creator of the thread doesn't agree with you they send you warnings with your post about the product being discussed and state it was off topic or trolling. These people are complete morons and deserve all the ridicule they get everywhere.

Absolute bias and just trolls
I posted information about flu vaccine content, sourced by the government of Canada online information. I was told II was trolling and it violated there ToS. They will not answer responses to their attacks.
Many racial hatred based comments and biased moderation there. The offenders post racially insensitive things as long as it is against white people.
Tip for consumers:
Stay away. Collapse support for this disgusting forum.

Made an account on DSLReports and purchased Tool Points, which turned the account to Premium status. Submitted a couple posts on the forums under non-technical threads. Which were withheld for further review. The next day. I find myself not only IP banned, but my account was suspended.
Submitted a request to the mods email that was provided through the FAQ regarding bans and it's been weeks since I've heard anything. Literally just took my money and banned me for no reason what so ever. So much for finding a site that would be helpful and supportive of their community. Time to find another one that doesn't just steal people's money and throws bans at people with zero reasoning.
The site owner, who goes by the handle of Justin, an Australian, will delete your account and ban your IP from future logins if you dare to say something he doesn't like. This has been especially noticed on the conservative social forum. The more liberal social forum does not see censorship. Otherwise, technical forums are very helpful.
The forums are overrun with Mega Maga people and moderation doesn't control abusive posts. Most of the forums are monopolized by regular trolls that the site moderators give a blind eye towards. Conservative people are allowed to post stuff unchallenged. There is a lot of fringe right-wing content that is tolerated. Its just a bad situation. Stay away from this site.
This site has gotten progressively worse with RWNC games. The moderators seem to totally let the non-sense go on. I have been on the site less lately due to all the rubbish.
As an aside, I do have some hard evidence of false flag attacks by a certain poster, with a possible involvement of some others. Screen shots of some of the involved accounts are posted here.
Every time I go to post something the same captcha keeps coming up. I shall note that this didn't happen until recently. Something wonky is going on or some shenanigans. I hope they have more info on J6 deals soon, because the info keeps disappearing. I wonder why it disappears.
The mods won't allow non-members to question member's. Anything a member posts even if dead wrong is allowed to go unchecked. When they get corrected and proven wrong the mods remove the post. The site isn't worth anything anymore.
I wrote a review on this website that was honest and not vulgar or inflammatory in any way and they didn't show my bad review. The ISP I wrote the review about is still rated with nothing but good reviews. If a consumer advocacy site will only post the good reviews it shows that they are either incompetent or in league with the consumer product/service. Boo to dslreports.com
I have been a member for nearly the 19 years the website has existed. It is one of my go trusted sites for news relating to the teach industry. Info about types of broadband, cellular networks, networking gear, and any related tech news. Reviews about the quality of ISPs that are very helpful to people. The reason it is called DSL reports is it started out under that name and it has been indexed as such for so long that chaning the name is pointless at this point. These days it is mostly about cable and fiber internet along with wireless broadband. I have been a member since I was a senior in college.
The majority of the membership, art and his puppet wuts, rooker, wierdalls a flaming guy my the name of adlicia etc are a collection of severely brain damaged mental case's, who work full time derailing anything they even slightly disagree with. Moderation is variable and unpredictable and often allows deleted posts to be re-posted. Unless your a sadist do yourself a favor and avoid the place at all costs.
The moderation is absolutely insane. I've created an account and made some mesaurements over my line, then I found the forum and put a single message answering in a post, nothing fancy, no insults, no trolling... nothing. Next day my ip was banned, I tried to contact with the staff (the email address is wrong and was returned), send a message in twitter, look for another email address... No aswer. When the temporally ban of the IP was over, I tried to login again but my account was suspended. A good idea and a good web ruined by the careless of the staff.
Tip for consumers:
Use the tools if you want, but don't use the forum, they'll ban your account without any reason or explanations.
I've enjoyed DSL Reports for over a decade now, there are a lot of good discussions to be had, and a wealth of technical knowledge to be accessed, especially when it comes to ISP reviews, and various discussions about consumer hardware.
Sadly the site is on life support due to over-reliance of volunteers, but it's still worth visiting especially if you enjoy long form discussions or have friends there already.
Tip for consumers:
Come for the reviews, stay for the company.
This is my goto site when I have a problem. Perhaps the bad review for an Internet Service Provider is meant for another site, because DSLReports is NOT a service provider at all.
I go to that site because the pool of knowledgeable persons far exceeds what one gets on the Commercial "Help" or "Support" forums. No nonsense, useful support at DSL.
Tip for consumers:
Get the category right, please.

While DSLReports.com has been a valuable resource for many years, the site's user interface and design are outdated and relatively difficult to navigate. The website's speed testing tools are often broken and do not always provide reliable results. Additionally, the site's discussion forums can be overwhelming and difficult to navigate if you are looking for a newer ISP, making it challenging to find the information or help you need. The over moderation in some forums can also lead to unproductive and sometimes toxic discussions.
Furthermore, the site's focus on DSL and other legacy internet technologies is increasingly outdated in today's market where cable and fiber-optic internet connections are becoming more prevalent. The site has not kept up with the times and needs to evolve to remain relevant in today's landscape of high-speed internet connections.
Overall, while DSLReports.com has a dedicated user base and can still be a useful resource for some, its outdated design, broken testing tools, and difficult-to-navigate forums are significant drawbacks that make it hard to recommend to users seeking reliable and up-to-date information on the state of the internet.
User profiles are broken and the search function does not work. The site could use a facelift. They have very poor moderation and poor account verification.
A legacy from the 00s. Very cliquish moderation/bias. It's lost a lot of traffic/participation in the past 20 years due to heavy-handed, intolerant moderation.
DSL Reports is a very good tech site with a broad range of forums for different topics.
There are forums dedicated to a range of topics, like computer hardware, software, gaming, audio/video, sports, home improvement, photography, and movies and TV.
The front page includes links to ISP reviews, which can be helpful if shopping for a new provider, and links to tech news from around the internet.
The broadband related forums are full of very knowledgeable people and are usually pretty helpful.
There are also "Direct" forums "staffed" by reps from various broadband providers. You can post in these threads and only the reps will see what you write. These are also helpful if you have problems you cannot address yourself.
The site is relatively easy to navigate, but the search function isn't very good.
The social forums are a good place to voice your opinions on a broad range of issues, but are moderated in a way that trys to keep discussions friendly and on-topic.
As with all things on the internet, there are trolls who cause problems, but the moderators there keep the site from becoming a free-for-all hellscape.
Overall, it's a fun site with a little bit of something for everyone.
Back in the early 80's it was a great site for information on ADSL which Telco's where just rolling out, after BellSouth deployed ADSL in August of 1984 I began covering DSLR's original BellSouth DSL forum.
Working a thin line and with permission from the company, I began to provide as much assistance as possible to subscribers in the areas where ADSL had been deployed.
Eventually two other techs where allowed to join in as well as a employee of corporate security, that person and I became moderators of the forums FAQ's and this went on for almost three years.
Then the company made a wise decision to internalize the entire project, that would eliminate a lot of noise from critics and so called experts, who actually understood very little about the technologies the company was using at the time.
We deleted (dollarcided) our memberships and moved on to other projects.
As time went on moderation became more and more restrictive and participation by a large number of very knowledgeable people waned, the site went into a death spiral as it became a echo chamber of views and no longer a tech site.
Then about four years ago something changed, a lot of moderation just disappeared and those who remained, I think realized without actual technicians who work in the industry, the site would fade away and as a result of that understanding the site slowly but surely things began to turn around.
Anyhow check the place out and if you have any questions relating to wireline or wireless data communications don't hesitate to give me a ping.

I have had nothing but a nightmare with this site. The first problem that I have is the fact that their mods do not seem to care about following the rules fairly. They have penalized me repeatedly over the stupidest of things, but yet, when I complain about the very same violations of the rules when their members that they do like take stabs at me with the sole intent of trying to start a fight, they do nothing about it. At one point in time, this site used to be friendly and offered helpful resources, but as of late, it's become a troll's paradise. The site moderators decide what rules they choose to enforce, and who they choose to enforce them upon. This is not only unfair, but it borderlines criminal on their part under the ground of discrimination. If the mods decide that they don't like you, they'll do whatever they can to silence you, but when other users do the exact same thing that they've blasted you for repeatedly, they don't care and allow this kind of thing to continue. I have never seen such hostility on an open forum in my whole life. Stay away from this site, as they're not at all about being a friendly place where people can debate the facts, but rather, are all about deciding which users they like and will allow to get away with anything they want, and which users they will single out repeatedly. What's worse is that their mods just don't care. If you complain in their "Hey Mods" forum, which is supposed to be to address unfair moderation, they'll either ignore you, or otherwise completely dismiss you, before finally coming at you out of nowhere by banning you out of nowhere. The worst part is that they won't even explain to you or your ISP why they've blocked you. It seems that if you disagree with the way they do things, they'll just ban you instead of enforcing the rules fairly for EVERYONE! STAY AWAY!
Tip for consumers:
Do yourself a favour... DON'T. They actively promote bullying and discrimination. It's perfectly ok for other users to attack you, but it's NOT ok for you to respond or otherwise complain about this kind of activity, even though it is against the site rules.
