eBid has a rating of 1.9 stars from 175 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about eBid most frequently mention lifetime membership, customer service, and credit card problems. eBid ranks 183rd among Auction sites.
I've been a seller on Ebid for many years and the platform has grown organically over that time. Fees are low (or free) but do not expect Ebay levels of sales. Ebid seems to have certain categories of items that sell regularly and if you offer goods in any of those categories, you will see regular sales. The one off payment lifetime seller option is so comparatively cheap that you will most likely make back the cost in savings in your first year particularly if you sell regularly or run a niche business - it's a going to be much cheaper to set up a store front in Ebid than hosting your own website.
Looking for eBay alternatives. Thought I would give eBid a try. Apparently, there is no free option - that is, you have to pay a fee to get access to eBid site functionality. I was hoping for at least a free-trial option so I could "kick the eBid site tires" before signing up. But even the site support option (which I was going to inquire about free trial options) comes with a cost. I'll pass on eBid.
BEWARE - Terrible site! No way to contact them - no phone and you have to view tons of FAQ's pages to see if there is an answer to your question. I purchased an item, did not receive it and had to dispute it on my credit card and through PayPal to get my money back. First and last experience with EBID. I would NEVER use them again!
I just signed up for ebid.net three months ago. Two weeks into it, they wanted me to upload an id, & a bill. So I did. Then they emailed me saying I needed to upload a hydro bill. This actually took me two months, because I was starting to think about what kind of business this was. So, now I do it. Upload a hydro bill. They come back to me & say I need to do another utility bill? How many utility bills do you think I have? I told them, well, I uploaded a photo id & a cell phone bill, then a utility bill? What more do you need? I am getting sick of this site!
No customer support whatsoever! Tried repeatedly contacting them and no replies! 3 days later, my account was mysteriously cancelled!? And, after I paid for a lifetime membership? What!? THE WORST SELLING SITE IN THE WORLD!
EBid is the perfect auction site, it has all the features you need and doesn't rip you off like FeeBay! Ebid takes 0-2% of your sale, EBay takes 10-20% of sale meaning that a person has to charge more from the buyer to make a profit.
Even an Ebay user paying £15 a month has to pay 20p per buy it now listing and Feebay still gets 10-20%! On Ebid for £50 ONE TIME you get unlimited free listings for life, and only have to give 0-2% of profit.
Ebid has people who will help you. Ebay has machines that fail to help you.
Beware of this site! It is a scam! They will bill you at the end of every month even if you don't sell anything. They refuse to delete your account or personal information (have requested four times already). BEWARE IT IS A SCAM SITE
I sold one thing in 8 months. If you don't log in a regular basis they threaten to end all your listings. No phone contact for help. Just email. Terrible place to sell.
I have also posted elsewhere and I repeat it-- appearances are deceiving. EBid apparently doesn't keep sellers' accounts up to date so buyers can't tell if the seller still has an account--even though it APPEARS that the seller still has an eBid account. When a seller cancels his account it's up to eBid to pull that seller's information from the Web site--so that buyers can make informed decisions about making purchases. If a buyer can't tell from the eBid information that the seller cancelled his account a year ago --it's not on the buyer or the seller--it's on eBid. From my experience, I wouldn't purchase anything from eBid.
I tried eBid after using eBay for years. I may switch! There are no fees unless you sell and that is only 3%. It is easy to list and you can import listings from other sites.
Tip for consumers:
Try it free for a while, you can upgrade to get more things like buy it now for listings.
Scam site! Becareful especially when you sign up for the 1 month plan, they dont tell you they charge recurring on it. So I was charge on the 30th day on my credit card for the next month subscription. I email their support about it and they wouldnt refund me. This site I believe has no traffic so I didnt make not one sale the whole month there. So dont even waste your time and money especially with the lifetime subscription as you will make no sales, will be a big waste of money. And also they would delete your listing without even notifying you, you would think they'll at least send a notice to your email to notify you but no they dont so you wouldnt know what you still have running. All in all, its a scam site. Dont waste your time or money, and they wont refund you either even if you caught it in time.
I signed up as a lifetime member for £50. Seemed like a bargain but have sold only one pice o jewellery in six months, even though all is genuine sterling silver and reasonably priced.
JOINED EBID 2008 PAID £49.95 FEE TO BE LIFE TIME SELLER, WAS SEELING GENUINE DESIGNER CLOTHING NOT ONE SALE, YET EVEN THOUGH I HATE EBAY BECAUSE OF THE HIGH FEES AND FORCING YOU TO USE PAYPAL SO EVEN MORE FEES I SOLD ALL MY ITEM WITHIN 7 DAYS UNLIKE EBID in which I had all the items listed for near 12 months, ebid a joke please don't join use other avenue like Facebook, spock, gum tree other free sites
I did the premium package and haven't sold a dam thing what a P. O. S. Site not one person look at my items it was if they weren't even listed. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY YOUR BETTER OFF SELLING ON EBAY AND PAYING WHATEVER FEE THEY HAVE. IF YOU ASK ME ITS WORTH IT. GOOD LUCK SUCKERS, WAIT THATS WAS ME.
Again how many times do we have to tell the owners of Ebid that the business is rubbish!
The reviews with 5 Stars on here are from Ebid them selves.
None of us believe you have sold a single item.
None of this traffic from your website has Google search optimisation or any other effort to take this website up in the rankings of Google.
If you type Ebid into Google you will find nothing but bad news.
I was very scepticle about parting with my money for this service along with thousands of others who have been had by this scandal.
I feel sorry for the guy who loaded up over 1500 items and never even had a message never mind a sale.
If I had Ebid I would have it on the first 2 pages of google in no time and get help to manage the phone lines.
2 directors from 4 directors and no employees! JOKE! And ebay are above their station to infinity and beyond for Greedy Ebay.
There's 111 platforms to sell from avoid Ebid and if yiu use Ebay your giving all your profit back to them every month.
Start your own website and connect up Facebook I make a fortune on Facebook more than Ebay!. Good luck sellers from Steve x soldier and seller of 20 years on line.
THREE YEARS on Ebid as a Lifetime Plus Member ( $49.95 and never even got the Free Ebid.net T-shirt that they advertise) selling brand new commercial truck parts at discount prices, guaranteed lowest prices with price match, free expedited shipping and even allow potential buyers to Make an Offer on listings -- NOT A SINGLE SALE, NOT A SINGLE OFFER AND NOT A SINGLE MESSAGE!
I've since dropped all of my listings from their WORTHLESS website and sent an email for my account to be closed / deleted. I don't have time to waste posting items and checking for sales / messages / offers every day for nothing and, really couldn't care less if they close my account or not -- I'm never going back so I'll never know if it's closed or not.
I have sold thousands of items on ebay and NOTHING ON EBID.
ALL THE GOOD REVIEWS ON HERE ARE FROM EBID STAFF, DONT BE FOOLED BY THEM.
Their customer service is terrible too. WASTE OF MONEY.
I HATE ebay, i think all sellers do but at least you make the sales.
ADVICE... if you want to try it for yourself then list one thing at a silly low price and see what happens... I bet a month later you still won't have sold it! DO NOT BUY THE LIFETIME SELLER OPTION ITS THROWING MONEY AWAY! Just try to sell one thing and see for yourself its a waste of time! Better to loose 50p than £50!
Superb easy and cheap to use, no rip off ebay fees. No silly restrictions on your adverts and pictures. If you list at a fair price people will offer or buy outright, you just have to be patient. No good if you need to earn a weekly wage, but fantastic to list all your stuff and just wait.
I have been on there about eighteen months and sold over 70 items total about £1500 that's £80 a month. Won't pay the mortgage that's why I have a job but it's a nice bonus income.
I have nearly 500 items listed now. All the works done, just a case of checking your emails daily, easy money. None of the feebay rat race rush.
The only thing that all the bad reviewers rant on about is how many visits they get, don't expect so many and you won't be disappointed you idiots.
Also if you put an item up as an auction knowing you won't get many visits your also an idiot.
If you list an item at silly money don't expect it to sell you idiots.
I suggest all the idiots should just stick together and carry on making a mess of ebay.
Leave all the decent relaxed folk to enjoy the freedom and ease of eBid.:-)
Tip for consumers:
Check the feedback, you can soon tell if your dealing with a genuine honest and committed seller. If the feedback is poor walk out the door.
Simples !
Instant billing to my card. Not even 1 single question. Pure evil scammer get away with running this fraud company because internationally you can get away with everything.
E-bid is an alternative Web-Site to post your used or new items you want to auction off. Compared to E-Bay, yes it lacks some advertisement and yes there are more lookers than buyers. Almost seems that the E-Bay community is coming over to check on the price tags.
On both sites, you'll have to bring along a lot of common sense and experience in order to NOT get burned. When it comes to fee's charged E-Bay is by far the leader and it can get as high as 25% on E-BAY/PAYPAL.
On E-Bid in the contrary you can achieve a listing including a final sale for no fees. This however is a very plain auction without any Gallery Pictures or such. But you can have the actual Auction showing images of your item without extra fee.
I purchased the Lifetime package for about $50.00 and am very happy with this one time expense. On e-bay this can be the fees for a single auction depending on value.
Conclusion is, if you browse around and make a few smart choices, you'll be able to auction off your stuff without the fee's.
Granted, E-Bay has possibly a larger buying audience and selling may not always run as planned on E-Bid and you have to be more patient. In the end it is a very easy calculation and you'll see that e-bid is truly much less if not totally free.
Nobody that I know off is able to live on nothing, so E-Bid needs to make a few bucks too.
This site is a complete SCAM! I've had legitimite auctions closed twice whilst they take fees from me, without any direct link to customer services I cannot obtain a refund. Whilst the auctions were running I had 2 views in a week for a popular item. They believe they are a challenger to Ebay, not a chance, utter nonsense, the site may have a good look but the service is THE WORST ON THE NET-AVOID!
I paid the lifetime fee for insertion fee-free listings and populated my account with the items I sell. The interface was easy to use and the whole process was not unlike that of eBay. In one way it was easier, as all the information entered for listing an item is on one page rather than several with eBay.
A problem occurred on two occasions when I tried to log on to eBid but was denied access. I contacted customer support in both cases and in both cases, they stated they could see nothing wrong with my account and lo! And behold! As soon as they had responded, I was able to log back in again.
This did give me cause for concern but not regarding my sales management as I was still able to log in, after a periodic recurring inconvenience.
WHAT PUT THE CHERRY ON THE TOP OF THE CAKE was when I started receiving emails for things which eBid said had been sold but in actual reality these items had not been sold. I contacted them the first time about this and they said they could not see any problems their end.
Not too much harm was done but it cost me time and worry in trying to locate a customer order which did not exist, and also the annoyance of a now clearly unprofessional system.
Still, it was a one off.
Now the second this happened with the spurious email I thought that's enough and I just pulled all of my 60 listings off eBid.
And I won't be going back. You can keep your £40.
I have been a seller (and occasional buyer) on eBid.net for the last two years and haven't had any difficulties whatsoever. The folks on the forums are extremely helpful & friendly and whenever I have contacted Gazza (the big boss) over a concern, I've received a reply within day (most often within a few hours). I feel bad for those folks who have had issues using the site. If you simply utilize the forums, most problems can be resolved.
Sure, it would be better if sales could be more brisk, but I can understand if the casual shopper doesn't want to give them a chance, after coming here and seeing the bile-fueled-hate-rants against eBid.net. Kinda makes you wonder who would gain from all that fear mongering... maybe a faceless behemoth that doesn't give a rat's rear about it's members (the sellers OR the buyers) and ONLY cares about squeezing every last dime out of it's members? But I digress...
Bottom line, for those who have had problems with sellers on eBid in the past (and this goes for ALL buying sites, e.g., ebay, amazon marketplace, etc), PLEASE check your seller's activity record and/or feedback. If the person hasn't been doing SOMETHING on there in say, the last 3 months, it might be a good sign they've forgotten about it and moved on. That's how our short attention span society seems to work (or not work, as is the case here). Do your homework. Find the good sellers. There's lots of us on there and we'd be more than happy to prove to you that eBid.net is a great alternative!
I purchased a replacement Macbook charger from a seller username "macbookcharger". The charger came and did not work, i posted a comment to the seller that the charger did not work. The seller told me to return it and they will refund the $21.95 (with no help from the seller on a return label, RMA, or shipping costs for a BROKEN product, all of which i had to take care of on my own). The product was delivered a week ago according to the tracking number from the post office, and i STILL have not received a refund. Furthermore, eBid offers no way to report sellers, or ensure that returns and/or exchanges are handled efficiently and fairly. DO NOT buy from eBID, it was my first and last time doing so.
Many times I cannot access my store on ebid.net. They block sign on for no reason whenever they like. They show little respect for paying B2B customers. Sad.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE I PURCHASED A PHONE OFF HERE A SMARTPHONE SENT 100 OR SO POUNDS TO THE SELLER AND HE DISAPPEARED OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH I DIDNIT GET MY MONEY BACK AND WAS TOLD I COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! THIS WEBSITE IS FULL OF SCAMMERS USE EBAY!
Been on ebid 7 years. Lots of people browsing mostly. I've had around 40 sales its not bad at all. Fees, well, I paid only 50 bucks because I paid in advance 1 dollar for each one of those listings. Some listings I took the 3% selling fee instead. Savings, well, had I sold those items over ebay I would have paid around 2000 USD in fees, OUCH!. Yes, I sell high end items. Overall I think Ebid is great! I just wish people would buy more instead of looking. Some of my listings have been viewed 2000 times and not even a question has come in. Only takes a few minutes to register as a buyer and its free and you can ask questions to the seller! Their customer service is way more better than ebay and a lot faster. You usually get an answer from them within an hour. Ebay it can take up to a week! More and more people are discovering ebid. I think the baseball, stamp and coin dealers are doing well there. Does not make sence to list a 3 dollar stamp on ebay for one buck. Ebid you can list it for free and it stays there until the item finds its buyer. No relisting and paying again. Its a good site I just hope it improves. I think it will people are getting totally fed up with Feebay and all their limitations. 30 day return policy for buyers, and ebay still gets to keep the seller fees if it goes beyond 45 days. That is criminal! I sell internationally and sometimes it takes a month for an item to reach a customer, or longer. Customs in some countries can take 2 to 3 weeks. My fingers are crossed for ebid! Too bad for all the trash talk. Ebay had the same when they were starting out.
