I had a few queries during the process, and the customer support team was responsive. They provided helpful assistance promptly. However, improvements in providing guidance for complex situations would enhance the overall user experience.
This tax software advertises free. Nothing free about it $80.00 to file my taxes. Then the software cannot even put depreciation on row 13 of Schedule C. WTF! Will never use this website again. Anybody that actually knows where their items should go on the tax form will be worried about getting audited. Sorry, Sorry, Sorry. What a rip off. The deserve -50* rating.
I have been doing my taxes for several years. This year they gave me an early return from my IRS taxes and charged me a fee for around $70.00 for this service. I did not ask for this service and have never had never did this before.
Always got my return in under 6 weeks from the IRS. They said I did not pay for there service. I have a debit card on file with them. They said they could not bill me, because I did not pay for there service. If there was a problem, they should have contacted me by email or phone. They have this information. They just decided on their own to take part of my return. I called costumer service and spoke with Kelly who was very, very rude. Then spoke with her supervisor and she was even ruder. DO NOT DO Business with these people. I will not, my self.

Advertising indicated that eTax was a free software to file a tax return electronically with the IRS. When our refund arrived at our bank it was a little over $100 less than what was indicated on the filing with the IRS. When I checked the "Where's my refund" on IRS.gov it indicated what the filing did. It wasn't the fault of the of the IRS. I think I'll do something different next year. Maybe get a part time job with a filing service and get an "employee" discount :) Shame on you "eTax". Never again!

They resolved my issue and explained the process in a way I could understand it. My problem was addressed by an agent who personally reached out to me.
I filed my taxes with etax. Iwas suppost to get $1257. 00 back and i got $1162. 15
Back. They took out $94.85. Icalled the I.R.S.and the said the check was made out
To etax. They took out a fee. I could have got the tax form filled out for nothing
They didn't say anything about charging anything, they said i would get a refund of $1257. 00. Cheating people 76 and 70 years old.
Sometimes the same number, sometimes a different one. Usually a US area code, sometimes not. This is a scam company. No matter how many times I screamed at them LEAVE ME ALONE and hung up, they called right back. FIFTEEN FREAKING CALLS IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS. Always an Indian-accented male who gives a western name (John, etc.). Even if this company was legit, which clearly it is not, why pay someone to do your taxes when you can get the IRS to do it for you for free?

Filing tax return on line.
Have used this product for many years without any problems. Very easily understood and simple to do.
I filed my federal taxes with eTax and didn't realize that my return would be considered Premium and cost $49.95 to file. As the site walked me through the process, it never indicated at any point that there was going to be a filing fee. So much so that at the end of submitting my tax info, the site asked for credit card info and I was confused about why. So I read the only text on the the page carefully--it mentioned FREE filing, FREE data storage, etc. There was no mention on the page of any kind of charge so I thought perhaps the company just wanted to store my card info in case I used the site in the future and so I hit File. A few hours later I received an email saying the IRS had accepted my return. There was no mention of any charge, no receipt, nothing like that. So you can imagine my surprise when I found a $49.95 charge on my credit card from eTax.
I called customer service and the rep said that when you enter credit card info, a "voucher" pops up on the right side of the screen that says how much you're being charged. That may happen sometimes, but it didn't happen in my case. There was no pop-up, no voucher, no charge listed and the fact that the company was so reticent about informing me that I had been charged makes me skeptical about their practices. She also said that filing a federal return is only free IF you file a state return at the same time--but the site failed to mention that during the process too.
I called my credit card issuer and they have been wonderful. They are working with me to try to dispute the charge and we'll see what happens.

Filed my taxes in March and still have not received my refund, however they took their fees from the check in April, no one knows where my money has gone! They charge $100 for filing!
After several years of logging my tax
After several years of logging my tax return with Etax they have advised that i have been flagged by ATO as possible audit. Senior agents are now saying that my tax affairs are too complicated and refuse to complete my taxes as it takes too much time and they are more suited to people with lesser tax requirements - disappointing they wont return calls and only respond via email - there are too many layers of people to speak to and the tax agents that finalise your returns don't get on the phone as they are "too busy" - Senior account told me to go see a face to face agent while i am in lock down in Melbourne
Had my return on extension and found this site on IRS... was easy to file, didn't cost much. Would use it again... got my IRS confirmation pretty quick...

My car broke down, and somehow an etax page was loaded on my phone when we finally arrived home. I somebody with aspergers did it myself. I thought it would be hard but the site makes filing easy.
E tax charged me over double of what other tax services charged
E tax fees $94.00
Turbo tax fees $39.99
Free tax USA fee $29.99
I did my tax return through etax on line. The web sight said this a a free filing service for federal tax return. Upon completion. The web site showed they had a charge. Rather than use my debit or credit card to pay for this fee, I elected to let them take the 29.95 fee out of my refund of $245. I never received any from etax about my refund. I went into my bank account to verify my retirement deposit. I found out etax had put $29.00 in my account for my refund. I called them they said they only got $129.00 from IRS.and because I had them to pay the money they had to charge additional fees. Which were not disclosed. I rate there service a zero and will not use them again. There response was all tax services charge this additional fee. I tried to use turbo tax, tax act, H & R Block they all said there would be no fee to file. All of them had up front charges that is why I used e tax this year because the charge they showed at the end of filing was at $29.95. Yes they did give a disclosure that my money first would be deposited in there affiliate bank in Penn. Yet they did not disclose any additional fee other than the 29.95. I did not get back my full refund from IRS, I asked to speak with a supervisor about my refund, she stated that was my problem. In the past when I used one of the other tax services, they put me in touch with IRS to get a correction done. E TAX never offered me any assistance other than to say they did what they were doing. I would not recommend using them to anyone. I score them a 0 on the scale
Totally taken aback by the fees charged.
I genuinely thought I was using the ATO official site.
Being a pensioner its hard enough without charges like this.
I feel conned and cheated..
I just read so many negative reviews that I was in tears for these people by the time I got through them. What I liked about this site was it was very easy and they only charged me, I believe it was $19.95 for self employed tax return. Just now when I needed a copy of my tax return I was able to find it unlike on tax cut. It's not on tax cut, just a summary. I was so angry because I need it for something. The only thing I see that's gone wrong with e- tax online is I was taxed for some of my social security. Never before in 18 years have I been taxed on SS. Then further looking I see that for some reason there's no report for Schedule C so I'm going to have to amend this tax year 2020. But I quickly, within no time I received my refund deposit in my bank. A lot of the refund was due to not being charged tax on unemployment which I had already paid. Overall I was excited of the ability to find my tax file afterwards and had just made up my mind that I'll be ready to use this company next year without a doubt. And then I read all the negative reviews and like I said was in tears for others. So we'll see how my amended return goes when I'm ready to do it. For all the rest of you I send my prayers and my heart sympathy. By the way I live in Tennessee so there were no state taxes to contend with and thank God I wasn't charged for that. In the past I had always used Tax Cut. I think it was connected to H&R Block but for some reason they disappeared and I've not been able to find anything about them anymore.
Tip for consumers:
I don't know in as much as they were so many negative reviews I don't know what I could say that would help. I guess I was just lucky for change. I am very happy with the service that I received with e tax online. I feel that the mistake that I find about not having a Schedule C must have been my own fault because I evidently only counted my unemployment and my Social Security as income. However the money that I did make was reported on my unemployment and reduced from my unemployment.

E-tax online
I used etax for the first time. I discovered the website is not user friendly and their prices for some forms are to expensive. Next time ill stick with Turbo Tax.
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! They took over $85 out of my $500 return, I read one review (after I used the service) that said they said the return was only free for people doing federal tax returns and when I did mine it said it was only free for state tax returns. They are thieves. The IRS should ban this company from doing business.
Too many calls from too many different numbers.
How many times you requested to remove your number, no use. They don't have control of their own data.
Too many call centers.
Stole $125 from me, a senior citizen on social security and pension. I NEVER authorized a payment. They said I checked a payment box, no They did. Liars and crooks
Used this believing it was free but although my Federal return seems fine enough, they really screwed up my State (MA) return. I called on 1/27/20 about their error and Tiffany said someone would research and get back to me within 48 hours but that the return was already filed so would have to be "retracted". Their error had us paying $187 but accurate figures yield a refund of over $900!
I called again today after receiving an indication (on my tax account) that the state taxes were submitted. I was advised by Brianna that they would contact MASS DOR to get the return back but I had called Mass DOR myself and was advised that returns cannot be retracted and that an amended return is required. So I advised her of such. I was transferred to a male, Lawford was his name I believe, who said that no return had yet been submitted. I complained (as did others on this review site) that I never saw anything about payment and credit cards, etc. He insisted I did but is unable to provide any documentation/copy of my checking off any boxes.
I insisted that they DO NOT submit any state tax return and he agreed to withhold it and send me a confirmation email about this matter. As of yet, nothing.
STAY AWAY from these schemers who cost me over $140 for a free filing.
Says its free but you have to pay a fee in the end to hold it and you have to wait 24 to 48 hours to get it after you complete it and pay them.
It doesn't get worse than this.
Only charge quoted didn't match what was charged. Customer service does nothing, website says satisfaction guaranteed BEFORE transfer of return. Never again will I use
