I was denied boarding by an incompetent and illiterate gate agent in Cotonou. The agent could not read English and claimed my visa was not valid. Upon further review of my visa documents, check-in staff at Cotonou airport admitted that my visa was valid, but only AFTER I had been denied boarding and had missed my flight. Ground staff at Cotonou airport was unwilling to help and rebook the ticket.
The call center of Ethiopian Airlines was thoroughly unhelpful as well. They keep you waiting for hours and claim that matters have to be resolved at the local airport and that there is nothing they can do.

Please be careful booking tickets with this airline in jurisdictions that have limited customer protection
Possibly my worst day ever after contacting the Ethiopian Airlines country manager in South Africa and not receiving feedback been told that I am "blackmailing" him after I mentioned I shall contact the airlines CEO. I am left helpless and speechless that struggling since May 2017 to make my bookings for my aged mom and my self the airline never gets back to me or response. Previously I used this airline as well and on return to South Africa my bags never arrived. I had meeting with the airline and assured that this was not the manner in which they operate and assured me that my next experience will be personal. It turns out to be a nightmare once again.
Worst customer experience comtinues
Do not travel with this airline. They are terrible! This morning, I received an email informing me that my 11/26 flight is moved to 11/27. They do not offer ANYTHING to make up for THEIR MESS AND UNRELIABILITY. I have an Ivory Coast visa expiring on 11/26 which prevents me from overstaying on their territory. So basically, I am SCREWED. I have to cut my vacation short because of their nonsense. They are wasting my money and time?!? THEY DO NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. FLEE FAR FROM THEM. NOT WORTH IT! This is my first experience with this airline and I guarantee you this will be the last.
I wish i leave with good review but they really suck, they just smaile and say "sir" but they will not give u right response, they say someone use your ticket... so wrong
I have been flying with Ethiopian airlines for sometime now and it has been great, no regrets at all. I love flying with them...
J ai acheter un billet d avion aller et Madagascar reference compagnie UQWPOS Nossy-be /Paris Charles de Gaulle en date du 28/01 2021 la compagnie Ethiopia Airlines m'a appeler pour me dire ne pouvais pas prendre mon vol suite au mesure sanitaire j ai contacté Ethiopia Airlines en leur expliquant il mon envoyé un mail en me disant que je ne pouvais prendre le vol car les compagnie avais une interdiction de rentre en France il m'ont envoyé un mail en me demandant des documents ce que j ai fait, aujourd'hui nous somme en juin 2022 et toujours pas de réponse. J ai décide d écrire au montre des Mme Amélie de Montchalin ministre des transports AR no 1A*******576 afin de lui demander d intervenir et une copie de ce même courrier à Mr le Président de la République Emmanuel Macron en lui rappelant ce qu il avait dit sur la pandémie lors de la fermeture des frontières AR no 1A*******478
Je suis vraiment déçu d'Éthiopie Airlines traiter les gens comme ça c est une honte
