📢 Attention, Etsy Community and Support Team! My Etsy shop, NecklaceAura, was permanently banned right at the beginning of my journey with no explanation provided. To make matters worse, I was scammed as a seller on my very first day on the Etsy platform (Issue ID: #16571142). As a passionate and dedicated creator, I am deeply disappointed and seeking clarity on this decision. I kindly ask Etsy to review my case, unblock my store, and provide a transparent explanation. It is unfair to penalize a small business without a clear reason. My small business dream depends on it! #EtsyHelp #SupportSmallBusiness #NecklaceAura #EtsyCommunity
I tried setting one up, and it was instantly and permanently shut down by Etsy without so much as a hint of explanation. There weren't even any listings on the store—literally, all I did was create a profile picture. I appealed the closure, and guess what? Denied. No reason, no transparency, nothing. Now I can't sell or buy anything on my account, and if I try to set up a new one, that'll be blocked too. And to top it all off? Their denial of the appeal is permanent—no second chances, no reconsideration. Ridiculous.
Etsy held my payments for four days. They kept telling me they were looking into it. Nothing happened. False promises, inaccurate information, no movement. I was a customer for five years with a few problems during that time. This is the straw that broke the camel's back. No longer will be a customer of theirs.
Etsy is a GREAT place. Sometimes some sellers suck, but thats why you read their reviews on their own shop first. It's kinda like eBay without the bidding. I love it as a buyer, AND seller. :) Never had a problem really. EBay is more of a problem with all their stock photos. Etsy is for vintage or handmade items only however, which is what makes Etsy so awesome and different.
I love Etsy!
I don't shop anywhere with poor reviews on the site. I have bought high valued items there. Vintage antique rings over $100.
No complaints or scams. I didn't have to deal with etsy customer service since the sellers I had were amazing. Answered all my questions and went over their policies via etsy chat. Depending on the seller, shop policies vary so be aware of that.
I will be starting my own shop soon. I have heard this is one of the safest selling platforms. I'll try and update after.
Tip for consumers:
read policies for each and every shop
stay away from sellers who are "ghosts"
I try and reach out to a seller prior to purchasing and read the most recent reviews. (preferably ones with pictures)
No reviews= not interested unless they are responsive to messages

Ever wonder why every seller seems to have a 4.5 to 5 star rating? Mediocre reviews are not posted. By Etsy's own published policies, you can only post a picture of the item you received if you are giving a five star review. There are many talented, hard-working creators on Etsy, but as a buyer you are not getting the full picture from reviews.
Tip for consumers:
Scrutinize the pictures in reviews carefully and read between the lines of what people are saying. Some buyers may give five star reviews against their better judgment in order to be heard and share their picture. My picture was just for scale so people would know what they would be getting. It was a three-star review so Etsy will not allow me to post it. There’s really nothing else you can do except buy from somewhere else. Which is a shame.

The service, product quality, refund policies and shipping times vary from seller to seller. Most are great, a few are not. Etsy.com itself is awful.
I can't believe there are only 37 reviews for Etsy when it's become such an integral part of online shopping. It's an amazing online marketplace for custom, unique goods; things you can't get anywhere else. It's especially cool for geeks who have really specialized interests. All my experiences with vendors have been quality. Highly recommend checking out Etsy.
Ordered 4 stuffed animals from Leslie and they arrived today. They are simply beautiful and were made from my husband's suit and ties. The Granddaughters will have something to remember Grandpa for a long time. Really did a nice job. Thank you. Kathy
You can find just about anything you could possibly want on Etsy. I had heard of them before but just never bothered to check them out until about a month ago and now I'm completely addicted!
The jewelry especially is just exquisite and the prices are very on par for what you're getting.
They can be a little expensive on other items but you really do get what you pay for. My only complaint is the crazy high cost of shipping through them.
Otherwise I definitely suggest checking them out, I'm certain you'll like Etsy too!
Tip for consumers:
Just pay attention to the shopping costs
I've bought multiple things from this site. It really depends on the seller. Everything ended up being quality but somethings took a really long time to arrive. Definitely research the seller before buying.
Etsy is a business, but it is not run like a business. It is run like a bunch of right out of high school girls sitting in an office sniping at their customers and basically offering no actual customer support - either because they don't know their jobs, or the policies suck. Good luck if you have a problem. I had to spend an entire morning sorting out one transaction through them. I have also noticed that everybody copies other people's designs. A really bad site if you are an artist with original ideas. I will be taking my business elsewhere, HAPPILY!
Worst site. Next to no customer service. Sellers take your money than take their sweet time shipping. One seller managed to mess up my verified address. The item was being returned to sender. Seller Never responded to inquiries about the trouble with shipping. I had to open a case with Etsy to have my order refunded.
I am currently waiting 7 days for a seller to ship an item. I thought id give them one last try. This is it. I will stick to Amazon. Etsy needs to do a better job of holding these sellers to a higher business standard. I will blast this site everywhere I can until they change.
Bought a tee for my daughter, the materiel is just crap, more like stiff paper than cotton fabric. Packaging looks like it was done by a 4 year old, and to top it all off, they don't accept returns. If you don't like what you paid for, too bad. Paying $26 for a girls tee, I thought I would have a decent fabric, but not from them. What honest business does not stand by their merchandise?
As my title alluded, I'm thankful I looked this up before setting up my handmade jewelry store. The reviews here and on the better business bureau stopped any and all plans to do business with them as a "middle man". Seemed to good to be true, and once you look deeper its a nightmare pit that many fall into innocently.
Thanks to everyone that came forward to warn people like me as well as the buyers.
I thought site was not user friendly at all, sell many items on mercari and Posh. Listing fees are high and over saturated. Was also very disappointed especially with what is going on right now that promoting both violence and murder against the police and numerous racist t shirts listed, that this was a more classy site. I guess not!
I had an Etsy shop for over a year. They started out easy to work with, and a generally great place to sell my handmade crafts. But as wave after wave of changes came, they began to become too expensive to sell with, and their ridiculous new restrictions and rules were too difficult to keep track of. Now, I won't even shop with them. Too many scams and fakes selling there who go unpunished while genuine business go through all sorts of hoops just to stay up.
They are a horrible site! They don't help you promote your product, they just take your monthly payment and remove items from your store that others are allowed to put on theirs! Even email after email it was still the same as they did was harassing me about simple items and removing them from my store! And pretty much told me they don't care, It's the worst place ever! 5 months I paid them to do nothing and harass me! Not at all worth the trouble! I'll go elsewhere!
Tip for consumers:
Stay away from using this site to sell you handmade items!!!

I'm writing a review on Etsy itself not a store in Etsy
I'm pulling my store after 3 great years. I just had the worst buyer experience, Etsy has overturned my policies, and is confusing and upsetting the buyer.
Do not offer custom orders, there are no non refundable policies, only no returns sort of
Do not offer payment plans, there are no non refundable deposits and those paying late are so inexperienced at ordering they can't comprehend how this effects their deadlines
Do not give overt time and personal attention during customer service, Etsy does not factor it into disputes.
Sad that according to these disgruntled buyers, they are running into shady sellers. Sellers are running into shady buyers. It's neither fun for clients, nor worth it for sellers anymore. Let Etsy turn into a buyers direct version of Alibaba.com
(dear buyers these reviews that you left are the merit of sellers and sellers are deceived by the company itself)
Etsy, scum and racist b*stards (don't f* *k you, I'm not talking about sellers, I'm writing about your company)!
I don't recommend buying and selling on etsy!
I am responsible for the words:
I made sales, sold about 30 products, my profile was deleted, but the money was not returned, I do not answer letters!
If you come across this, just post a link to the help blog and you won't find more than one contact information there!
I would give -5 stars but not zero!
If you're looking to sell, don't use this site. The hidden fees after you sell your item are ridiculous and they can close your account without any explanation. Shame on them. I've read other reviews and the census is that it's a terrible place. Do the research on this scam.
Etsy has turned into a mass produced product store - selling products that are not hand crafted but shipped in from overseas by the thousands. I sell there - or should I say - used to sell there. My small handcrafted items just get lost in the factory mess in search there now.
Etsy is hard to review overall as you are buying from individual people, so like anything you get some good, some bad and some in between. I did have 2 items that were never shipped and their shop was shut down. I filed a claim through paypal, was refunded the money. You can get some great stuff but you have to do your homework. Read the reviews, I don't buy from people with under 100 reviews unless I have previously bought things from them before, check their join dates, really look at the pictures, if there is only 1 I usually won't buy from them. Read the descriptions and the store policies. Overall I really enjoy Etsy and have found some great and unique things but you need to do your research to make sure you're buying from someone legit.
Tip for consumers:
Always read reviews before buying!
Purchased item for Christmas gift, item fell to bits within a week. Seller no longer listed on Etsy. Very poor customer service and any attempts to complain fall on deaf ears. This is the worst website I have used. BUYER BEWARE. Will never use these people again.
I was the seller and I had one case when the buyer was trying to get another item, by claiming that the original one wasn't correct ( the customer put beads instead of original face mask).
Even though, I had all evidence including weight of the envelope, original picture, and all the 5 star reviews Etsy gave my money back to the fraud customer...
If you are a seller Etsy will not consider who is right, simply they don't care about people selling...
Terrible policies! And nobody ever can be reached for help...
This company will suspend your account with no warning, after 2 years trying to establish my business just before the holidays. Their policies are not quite clear, while many sellers are reselling products from Ali Express, Ebay and other companies and have been selling with them for years and nothing is done. If you do the same they suspend your account after investing money in their business... There is 2 sets of policies honestly not sure what they are! Be careful when selling on ETSY do not think that you have the same rights...
Etsy is definitely a niche market. However, I consider it very good at what it does. I don't normally go to Etsy when I'm looking for your average consumer product, but sometimes for gifts or special items, it's a great place to check out. I have also had my own store up and running for a while. Although I haven't had much success with sales, it's fairly easy to use and pretty straightforward, and also Etsy doesn't take out nearly the amount out of your revenue that eBay does. I do love eBay for certain things, but when it comes to selling my handmade product, I would much rather sell through Etsy than eBay.
My apartment's aesthetic is mostly comprised of stuff I have purchased on Etsy at this point. They make it easy to find stuff for your home from online sellers and while it can sometimes take a while to receive the item you buy, I have had nothing but positive experiences with the sellers. I've only had to deal with customer support in one case, and they were able to resolve my issue quickly. Very pleased with them and will continue to use them in the future.
