📢 Attention, Etsy Community and Support Team! My Etsy shop, NecklaceAura, was permanently banned right at the beginning of my journey with no explanation provided. To make matters worse, I was scammed as a seller on my very first day on the Etsy platform (Issue ID: #16571142). As a passionate and dedicated creator, I am deeply disappointed and seeking clarity on this decision. I kindly ask Etsy to review my case, unblock my store, and provide a transparent explanation. It is unfair to penalize a small business without a clear reason. My small business dream depends on it! #EtsyHelp #SupportSmallBusiness #NecklaceAura #EtsyCommunity

“If you're thinking about opening a shop on Etsy, don't even bother!”

Lione C.

I tried setting one up, and it was instantly and permanently shut down by Etsy without so much as a hint of explanation. There weren't even any listings on the store—literally, all I did was create a profile picture. I appealed the closure, and guess what? Denied. No reason, no transparency, nothing. Now I can't sell or buy anything on my account, and if I try to set up a new one, that'll be blocked too. And to top it all off? Their denial of the appeal is permanent—no second chances, no reconsideration. Ridiculous.

I've ordered a couple of items from etsy in the last year or two. I see etsy as a sort of eBay for unique handmade items, and I've found some really neat things on the website. I've never had problems with any of the sellers or with packaging/shipping, but I would recommend looking at the seller's reviews to make sure it's not a scam or anything before buying.

Etsy's team will most likely never reply to you. Before they check to see if the item is actually copyrighted they will close your shop. They have so sense that they are wrong, and you can't reason with them. Never will I buy, or sell on Etsy again.

My husband bought me a ring and earrings from a handmade jewellery company in Israel, the site photos and description are nothing like the items we received and to return them will cost £30. The quality is poor and very cheap, will definitely not use this site again

Etsy permanently terminates your shop without considering 100% positive feedback or your great selling stats, with no specific amount of violations given. This site is not worth the effort to list on. Etsy will charge listing fees, then terminate your shop with no refund or hope of reinstatement.

I ordered a pair of 1965 penny earrings and they were shipped immediately, the presentation box and care information were so helpful. The nicest pair of small earrings ( a gift from Blue Willow) came in the same shipment, which were perfect for my granddaughter's birthday next month. I highly recommend this artist and her prompt delivery. I give her 5 stars!

If I could give Etsy negative reviews, I would.

Don't trust online reviews from Etsy. Not only will you encounter problems with surprise customs fees that are not mentioned anywhere in conversations between you and the seller, you will likely never receive your item, and the seller will hold your money hostage until you give them a false positive review.

No point going to Etsy management to mediate the situation; they condone false reviews, stating that "you can change your review at a later time."

You will never see your money again, Etsy will not lift a finger to help, and you will only be left with feelings of rage and frustration.

This didn't just happen to me; it happened to a friend as well. Just a heads up.

Etsy seems to be run by 12 year olds. A plethora of mass produced junk sprinkled with a little bit of hand made stuff just so they can keep advertising themselves as handmade products market. I am disgusted how they treat their sellers too: pushing for lower prices and free shipping so they can compete with you know who (rhymes with bamazon). Driving truly amazing small businesses off their platform alltogether. Don't waste your money.

This company will do absolutely nothing to help the buyer get a refund, they will only put you in contact with the seller that your wanting a refund from, then they won't let you post and negative review, and finally the will send you an E mail telling you what a great job they have done resolving your issue, and all they have done is delayed the process so long you can't enter a dispute with your credit card company.

Tip for consumers:
go to Amazon don't waste your time here there's a reason why these sellers can't work on Amazon.

The worse customer service ever. Will never buy from them again. Everytime I try to contact them, I get a out of office message. Will never buy from them again.

Tip for consumers:
There is no way to dispute with Etsy. You are stuck. Do not buy from Etsy.

Received a mailbox without the post. They said later that it didn't come with the post. I tried to order the post and all I receive is an out of office message. Now I need to return it but Etsy won't help. I have to deal with the seller who won't answer any of my messages. Totally annoyed.

Before you start an account review everything very carefully. I knew they took a percentage of sales most do, but I didn't realize they charged you to list items. After browsing the site, it seemed more like small businesses and not a place for those of us who liked to do crafts and make a little bit of money. I was under the impression it was a great place to sell crafts for those of us who do it because we love it, and just want to make a little money, but after looking at the sellers, they seemed more like small arts and crafts stores.

Basically, I bought a hand made dress for $150 and never got it. The seller tells me that Etsy is not giving her my messages. Etsy tells me that my case expired and can no longer open a case against the seller. Conclusion: Etsy stole $150 from me. Called my credit card and they will dispute the money. Horrible refund policy, sent them an email, didn't get reply from the trust issue link. Great idea, but horrible treatment to customers, thieves is the right word!

I love Etsy, I can spend HOURS on it, browsing product after product. Just like any other online marketplace, you have to be careful who you buy from, but that's the case with all marketplaces, isn't it?... I think it's so great that Etsy gives hand-made products such a big platform. In a world of top fashion brands and huge hypermarkets, etsy is unique

I heart etsy! My home would look so bleh without it. You could buy anything from artwork to jewelry to baby clothes there. Very easy to use site, many features other shopping sites don't have such as ability to search for local sellers and ways to request custom items in the alchemy section. Etsy sellers are not your typical seller. They have super communication skills and are willing to go out of their way to make you satisfied. I usually get hand written notes and free samples when my purchase arrives. I love this site so much, I got inspired to start my own store on etsy and found an incredible amount of resources to help me get started and start selling.

I love etsy for the most part, pretty good community. It's been less educational lately, and doesn't care if you sell handmade or not honestly. I've seen china crap on their way to much... even child porn once - which I reported. I was also banned from forums for being under 18 - while I was the one guy EVERYONE was loving haha.
So, I left etsy. I still do business with some of their supply sellers though.

Etsy is an amazing online store to purchase handmade unusual items of all kinds. From custom household items, jewelry, baby gifts, custom eats, to just about anything you would ever find at a huge high end custom warehouse with high end vendors, if there was ever such a thing available. It is available on Etsy, com!

The seller claims to be based in my country or i wouldnt have bought from them. Their email says my item will arrive in over a month, but they provide no tracking #. Etsys automated system won't let me communicate with anyone at etsy until the day after the shipment is due. What is going on? Why is a month out considered acceptable/normal to the system? I'll never use etsy again. Hopefully I get my item since my money is tied up for this whole time.

Beware! After I paid for the item it took over 2weeks to ship and then when the eta started both the seller and ETSY emails disappeared from my email. Customer service was not only rude but vulgar. For better online experience go almost anywhere else.

Bought boots from a merchant in brisbane australia (victoria is her name and is just as stupid as etsy customer service people) boots were not described properlyand could not wear them. Return was ok, except they want me to pay for shipping, which would have cost me 70 dollars to return 114 dollar boots. 6 weeks I dealt with the merchant and etsy. They never once said anything about my complaints about the return costs. This victoria just kept raving on about how no one has ever had a problem with her merchandise. Etsy also ignored all my questions, always dancing around the only issue I had with them.In the end, etsy resolve team did absolutely nothing but waste 6 weeks of my time. I will never look at this site again. And beware of merchants from outside the USA. Nina H

I purchased stained glass from karenmiles who struck me at first as very helpful... until the product did not arrive. After calling, emailing, trying to get any indication at all, it is six months and I figure it must all be some sort of con. I would NEVER use this site again. As one reviewer put it, you are on your own if your seller simply disappears as happened to me. I should have never trusted her since she just kept the money and because she kept delaying and delaying (perhaps on purpose) it was long past the period where one can even post a review. Stay away from karenmiles and the etsy or buy at your own risk. It is really disappointing that people pretend to be professionals like this and then act like criminals.

I closed my Etsy shop - they treat their sellers like cr@p. You can be muted or even kicked off if you complain about their policies. Do NOT sign up with your regular email - they are now partnering with Facebook and mining personal data at full speed.

Oh, and while there are still many talented sellers on there making beautiful things by hand, the site is now over run by fake "handmade" stuff from overseas factories. Etsy makes a lot of money off these fakes, so they are largely ignored even though they are breaking Etsy TOU.

Buyers beware!

They suspended my account for 2nd time in about 3 months, no email received or notice, you must contact Etsy support who take a while ( a month) so far to restore even I fix the information that they need as a result. I delete all my item for sale. But they still charged the 0.20 cent. I did not have this problem years before. Thanks not Thanks.

I ordered two barn wood jewelry organizers - one for my daughter and one for myself. They are really nice. I love it. Now my jewelry can be on display so I can see what I have - no more tangled necklaces. I have always been completely satisfied with the items I order. Betty Davis, Eagle Grove, IA

I've had a shop on etsy for years now and have purchased from there for even longer. It has it's ups n downs.
If you just look at it as a platform to get your small biz running... a cheap starting place. It's wonderful. New sellers DO have a bit of a learning curve... got to learn photography, SEO, how to promote yourself but this is all things a new seller anywhere will have to learn.
Etsy started my company ( untamedrose.com) out and gave me a chance to grow. For that I will always be thankful. BUT They are also really bad at all the "extra" stuffs they promise like "support" "getting hold of them" "education" So dont "rely" on them for such.

Lot of the reviews here really are about the wrong company... there are tons of great sellers/companies on etsy... and some really Blah ones to down right scams. Buyer beware as always check That companies reviews, read the listing, and ask Q's. A good seller will have no problem answering them. :)

This is a hard one to review because shipping, pricing, items, are all the sellers doing, not the site.
So with that said, the site ETSY.COM itself is rather user friendly (until you get to paying). The shopping cart feature is nice to store stuff so you can keep shopping instead of doing 500 one-off purchases, you can come back and go through what you've added and remove what you don't need (or when your husband puts a limit to how many Doctor Who pillows or prints you need).
Four stars for the site because at checkout, if you are using paypal, it will not allow you to toggle between your payment menthods easily. It's an additional 10 steps which gets super annoying.

I wish they offered some type of etsy.com rewards program for buyers to get points or discounts, but they dont.
