Founded in 2005, Etsy is a legit online marketplace focused on homemade products from close to 2 million sellers. Each seller on Etsy is different, so always read their individual reviews and policies before making an order. Over 2,000 shoppers have reviewed Etsy and advise that since sellers are from all over the world, shipping may sometimes take a while. If you experience issues with a particular seller, Etsy has a customer support team to assist you.

📢 Attention, Etsy Community and Support Team! My Etsy shop, NecklaceAura, was permanently banned right at the beginning of my journey with no explanation provided. To make matters worse, I was scammed as a seller on my very first day on the Etsy platform (Issue ID: #16571142). As a passionate and dedicated creator, I am deeply disappointed and seeking clarity on this decision. I kindly ask Etsy to review my case, unblock my store, and provide a transparent explanation. It is unfair to penalize a small business without a clear reason. My small business dream depends on it! #EtsyHelp #SupportSmallBusiness #NecklaceAura #EtsyCommunity
I tried setting one up, and it was instantly and permanently shut down by Etsy without so much as a hint of explanation. There weren't even any listings on the store—literally, all I did was create a profile picture. I appealed the closure, and guess what? Denied. No reason, no transparency, nothing. Now I can't sell or buy anything on my account, and if I try to set up a new one, that'll be blocked too. And to top it all off? Their denial of the appeal is permanent—no second chances, no reconsideration. Ridiculous.
Etsy is an abusive company that may close your shop whenever they want under any excuse, even if you have several hundred sales with every review being 5 stars. You sell handmade, quality products and you make your customers happy? It's not going to make any difference. Meanwhile, Etsy let Alibaba/Aliexpress re-sellers stay there.
Please, read this article, this is exactly that Etsy is:

I been shopping on Etsy since 2017 and I never had problems with a seller except for one and that's because they sold me a badly coded template. Yes there are some pros and cons to Etsy, but my shopping experience been pretty good. I have a few shops that I saved as my favorite.
I used to enjoy shopping at Etsy, but I would advise not to shop overseas. In my case they took a month to ship the item and then another month for the item to ship. However, it never reached my house. I contacted the shop, who did not respond. Soon after, the 100 day window ended, so I cannot open a case or review the items that I never received. I am no longer shopping at Etsy.
Standard shipping is 3-5 business days, its been 7 days. Who runs this company? I see yall follow 29 people with no followers. Im starting to see why no one follows you back. You $#*! up innocent people who spend their hard earned money on your website. Ridiculous.
Ordered a cake topper for our wedding in December, Was promised to receive it by June/July. It is September and I haven't received it. Called Etsy for assistance as the missed window will make me incur extra costs since our venue is out of town and we went on a trip to the venue in August to take all purchased accessories and decor items to necessary vendors in our luggage(as to avoid paying to ship them). Etsy says oh well, enjoy your topper we can't make the vendor do anything. Vendor has not sent any proof of any kind and then sends me an email today sayin I shipped it and added items to it that you didn't ask for and I missed the details that you did ask for. Wedding planning can be very stressful but i've been fortunate that mine has not been with the exception of this unprofessional vendor and etsy's lackadaisical support department.
There's lots of cool stuff on Etsy that you can't find anywhere else. However, most sellers are "creative types" and not business owners with initiative.
Therefore, it's lots of goofballs on there that literally take forever to ship your item. Like they're too "busy" laying around smoking pot to bother driving to the post office to mail your stuff to you.
Avoid.
Etsy sellers are untrustworthy and etsy does nothing to patrol them. I bought handmade baby blankets for my new baby by MyWoobyandMe. Beware Buyers! The seller Chris didn't follow up after payment and then said she was behind on orders when she finally returned my emails. She then'sent' the blankets - but the shipping number was a fake. Because I was polite and waited I had missed the cut-off to complain. I saw in her feedback similar recent issues but i was shut out of leaving feedback. I left a message with Etsy as i feel its a systemic issue with the seller taking buyers money and not delivering products - but have never had a response from etsy. There is no recourse for the seller who took my money and got away with it! Others will be ripped off too if they are polite and waited like I did.
I don't really like writing reviews for online vendors of any kind unless something reLly appalling happens. Too much pressure. I'm busy. My time is valuable. This is not a valued form of self expression for me. I want a streamlined online buying experience, timely delivery, and a good product. That's all. Usually I've been quite pleased with Etsy... But I don't crave an online correspondence with a vendor, and I'm not going to provide promotional photos of product without some kind of compensation.
I see buying online as a business transaction, not a personal relationship. If I like, I may buy again.
Tip for consumers:
read my review about not liking to write reviews

If you like waiting and waiting for what's not coming. Order! Or getting what not pictured fine print policy.order.or bring told you have to wa it three months for a partial refund.don't waste your time and money.
Reviewing a site like this is difficult - unless you've ever had a major issue with a particular seller on Etsy or actually sold on the site, you're likely to never have a reason to interact with the people of Etsy itself.
I've created and managed three shops on Etsy for a few, shall we say, not-so-internet-savvy older folks who wanted to get their crafts out into the world. Listing and editing is super easy with the site and if you ever have any questions or problems, Etsy customer service is amazing and generally pretty fast with a response.
Obviously the site cannot be held responsible for the actions (or inactions) of the very few bad eggs there are that you might experience as a frequent buyer. But they really are few-and-far in between since Etsy takes quick action on any reports that are made.
Etsy asserts that when you order an item and fail to receive it due to loss in transit, you bear the risk of loss, not the seller, even though you have no control over the shipping method or whether insurance is purchased. This policy means you pay but get nothing if the item is lost. This policy violates Uniform Commercial Code § 2-509(3) and is therefore contrary to law in every state. Other seller sites (like Amazon Seller) recognize that risk of loss remains with seller until actual receipt. Etsys policy cheats you out of your money so it can profit.
It is interesting that there are so many positive reviews of this irresponsible website. I wonder how many are folks that sell on Etsy. After my Jennifer Hardin experience of being defrauded of $250), I won't touch it with a ten foot pole. If YOU do and get burned, don't say you were not warned
Despite all of their BS proclamations to the contrary that they have a process to assist buyers who are ripped off, Etsy has - for years - allowed sellers on their site to lie about what they are selling, rip people off, and if a buyer asks for help, Etsy does NOTHING. If you're going to buy on Etsy, the person you are buying from can send you nothing or send you something completely different, and you will lose your money. In addition, look at their review process closely. No review after a certain amount of time. Can't review if you've filed a complaint. Can't sort reviews. And, I provided Etsy with email exchanges that proved without a doubt that the seller stole $60 from me. Etsy just "closed the case."
PLEASE NOTE: Etsy's policy is that buyer pays all shipping costs, there and back - even if seller lies to you to get your purchase.
I was selling handmade bracelet, once I put it on their site it was made inactive so to it being a resin bracelet, so I kept asking why they have done this as others seem to be selling the same thing. So they list put it on inactive them charge you for it, but customers can't buy it. This is the reply I got
Please be aware of all the increased and inflated fees that sellers are charged with. This is a handmade website and most is just imported crap from china, india and other places. Etsy only supports their own kind... and etsy will mute certain shops... you also know that you do this!
Recently etsy sales have gone down in recent stock market reportings... they are having a difficult time because of the way they treat sellers and the way that they conduct business overall.
Dont worry all the sneaky tactics you do to make money will come to light!
Interesting how a business that seemed to being a great job can blow it all up.
The last year has shown that they are inconsistent, and dishonest.
As as Seller: They utilize hidden fees for sellers, policies that only impact certain sellers and terrible customer service.
As a buyer: they are basically a dropshipper for Alibaba. 90% of the items seem like they could be bought o Shein or Temu.
Watching them fail is a wild change from their beginnings.
I've mostly had good experiences with Etsy. However, I'd definitely be careful. I've had 2 semi-bad experiences. I always recommend reading their descriptions, to see it they sound knowledgeable, and check their credentials. I also check their reviews, & you might even want to e-mail former customers. Obviously, at website like Etsy, people making handmade crafts will vary in skill. Never trust a product that only has 1 photo of it, or a jeweler that can't identify the gemstones they used. Always communicate with the seller before buying their products, and ask them questions. That said, most of my dealings with Etsy have been good. Also, 1 of the 2 sellers that I was semi-disappointed with, they were happy to give me a refund. Sometimes products look better in the photo, sometimes they look better in person.
Etsy marketing sent personal email if I want to increase number in sales and review to attract customers with so expensive price. I just opened my store for a month. I didn't use it but you will see many sellers use it with thousands or more than 10,000 of SALES in their Etsy shop and fake review. It many sellers of wall hanging from Rusia and China copy your product even worse using pictures from other seller accounts or instagram. I reported to Etsy no response. It is very unfair for the honest seller.
The most poorly handled transaction I have ever seen and make sure you all read the fine print very clearly because their return policy if you try to even see if the item works is there is no return policy. As I found out recently! So now I have a $50 piece that will not adhere to the wall (when other pieces do) and neither Etsy nor single stone studios will stand behind their product. I would encourage you all to look elsewhere because these are very cheaply made and the owner is everybit as cheap.
I heard so many times about Etsy that I finally decided to give it a try. Because of all the bad reviews, I have bought just small accesories (going for the safe zone) and I don't have complaints. There is so much cute stuff in their website!

Etsy started out as a place where you could by handmade things made by craftspeople in the good ole USA. Now their sellers include people who buy cheap junk made overseas and just resell it, even though they describe it as "handmade. "That's basically against Etsy rules but it happened to me twice in the past year. Buyer beware. Make multiple inquiries to the seller and make sure they tell you what you want to buy is totally and truly handcrafted by the particular seller. The good stuff is really good, but the lousy stuff is a rip off.
Recently Etsy has changed their policy to one which forces buyers to accept bank cards and credit cards. Unfortunately what this means for sellers is very long wait timse for getting payed. I decided not to use Etsy anymore when it took 3 weeks for them to deposit the proceeds from my last sale into my bank. That is WAY too long. No more selling on Etsy for me!
I placed an order with Etsy fourteen days ago and have yet to receive the order. Payment was taken from my card after seven days but they have now also taken a second payment for exactly the same amount and I have had to cancel my credit card. Not a happy customer and now discover I am not alone believing this. I want my goods and my money back in respect of what was taken fraudulently. Shan't see me again.

Bunch of damn crooks! I've spent $1000. 00s of dollars on Etsy in past but, the service has got worse and worse each time. The orders for most part do not get delivered in the estimated time frame that is obviously there for a reason. A lot of products do not look or are as described. The tracking is not up to date. What was once a cool site to get handmade and vintage goods is seemingly now just a place for crooks to make a quick buck. I really could go on but, hopefully someone will see this before getting the poor business I tend to receive 90% of the time I use Etsy anymore
WARNING, WARNING, WARNING!
This site is run by a bunch of apathetic people who will remove/deactivate your listing for NO VALID reason other than their own sadistic pleasure, because they can!
They are uneducated and ignorant and their ignorance will effect your goods and your store.
Stay away at all cost!
You were WARNED!
