📢 Attention, Etsy Community and Support Team! My Etsy shop, NecklaceAura, was permanently banned right at the beginning of my journey with no explanation provided. To make matters worse, I was scammed as a seller on my very first day on the Etsy platform (Issue ID: #16571142). As a passionate and dedicated creator, I am deeply disappointed and seeking clarity on this decision. I kindly ask Etsy to review my case, unblock my store, and provide a transparent explanation. It is unfair to penalize a small business without a clear reason. My small business dream depends on it! #EtsyHelp #SupportSmallBusiness #NecklaceAura #EtsyCommunity
I tried setting one up, and it was instantly and permanently shut down by Etsy without so much as a hint of explanation. There weren't even any listings on the store—literally, all I did was create a profile picture. I appealed the closure, and guess what? Denied. No reason, no transparency, nothing. Now I can't sell or buy anything on my account, and if I try to set up a new one, that'll be blocked too. And to top it all off? Their denial of the appeal is permanent—no second chances, no reconsideration. Ridiculous.
As a seller using Etsy, I have run into multiple issues with the site, and a complete runaround when trying to get help. The latest issue: a customer paid for international air shipping, but the label printed as surface shipping. Which I didn't notice at the time, and now their product is late arriving. Also, they removed a listing of mine, and when I email to ask why (because there is no reason that I can see - it was a vintage hair dryer, and multiple vintage hair dryers are listed on the site) - I received an email back saying "read the policy". Which I had already done, and didn't see anything that applied to my listing, which was why I emailed to ask for help. When I told them that...they gave me no answers and told me not to email back again.
Also, although there is a purchase protection program that is supposed to help sellers, the only way to access it is if a buyer opens a case against you. So the only way to access it is by being a jerk to your customers.
Furthermore, it is very difficult to make sales as a vintage shop where each time you sell is a one-off. I would give fewer stars, except that the labels are very convenient when they work well, and its relatively easy and inexpensive to create a listing. Otherwise, the frustrations and lack of sale volume make it not worth my while, and I will be closing my shop as a result.

Seller just needs to prove they put your item in the mail; if it gets lost, don't expect a refund.
Ordered a purse and patiently waited two months because of seller's sweet talking but missed the 100 day window to file a case so now I'm out $60. Not that they would have refunded me anyway, due to their insane policy of no support to buyers of seller can prove they mailed the item. So whose responsibility is it if item goes missing if not seller or Etsy? If the postal carrier then would it not be the sellers responsibility to contact them, and if missing refund the customer or reship? What kind of business model leaves the customer with no support in a case like this? A crap one, that's what kind of business!
I have never heard of such crap policy in all my days as an internet shopper. I admit I didn't know the rules before I bought; just assumed they could be counted on to take care of customers who do not get their shipment like Amazon and eBay do... stupid me. Anyone who reads this and still shops at Etsy needs their head examined.
Umm. Hey guys! I got Silver Oxidized Necklace which is worth $21.90 from etsy "footsoles24" store. Material used in this necklace are Gemstones, Glass, Synthetic Gemstones, Druzy, Agate.
This is a fabulous orange statement necklace. The necklace is beaded with orange beads and a replica of indian rupee coins of 50 paisa. This is a trendy necklace for awesome style.
Opened a shop and was doing good first week there, etsy decides I am making to much money and holds 75% of my funds and no real explanation to why except your sales are high. Huh? Isn't that what every successful seller wants and they definitely took there listing fees as well as there commission off every sale as soon as it sold. A few weeks later my store closes by them and no explanation, email implies they do not need to explain or offer a reason and my money is now on hold for 6 months! Again they took there fees and there commission all sales delivered and positive reviews. My buyers even followed me to another sell app and still buy from me. There emails forbid you to share there copy and pasted wording they have given to all shops that close. Many good sellers on there and there money in the high thousands even is on hold and not sure if they will receive, again showing items all delivered. Too many good selling apps that won't steal your money, look elsewhere. I have been a seller for over 25 years and this company is a disgrace and sure if you look around the internet can see many have the same complaint as I do.
I purchased a onesie from GooberPrints. I was very impressed with the owner, Troy. He was personal and professional. He very promptly answered my questions and the item was delivered in a timely manner. It was exactly what I ordered and came perfectly and safely packaged. The onesie is a shower gift and I am anxious to be the giver of such a high quality and very personal item. I will most definitely do business with GooberPrints again. Thank you...Jill Kapala
Etsy now has too many Chinese resellers. I was searching for a specific coat and found it. But later I saw exactly the same one for about the same price and same promo pictures at another Chinese small factory (that's how they like to call themselves). So I was already worried that it can be a scam. I was discussing it with one of my friends and she told me to check some online Chinese market. And I found there the same coat but 2 or even 3 times cheaper. So I wrote the etsy support and they only offered me to read the reviews of other clients and decide by myself. But nothing about closing down any of those shops reselling items from some big factory.
Also I noticed some knitting company from Uzbekistan or some other country from that area who was offering to knit the models from knitting magazines (mainly German). They used for promotion scans from those magazines...
And another thing that is so unfair to almost all milliners that there are many sellers making those fabric flowers accessories and never even mentioning that they use cheap flowers from a dollar store. And they want lots of money for their works. Ok, these items can look nice on the pictures but in real life they do look cheap.
Tip for consumers:
I would offer to be careful with all these shops (not only Chinese) who have the way too many items for sale unless they are not marked as made to order as 1-2 persons can't produce quality things so fast. If you really want to buy Chinese items then try to google them on alternative site selling from China directly. You will be shocked about the prices there comparing to etsy!
Try to find as much info about the seller as possible.
I ordered a wig from Luffy wigs off esty website it was a nightmare the hair was firzzey matted how you in good faith send this to anyone the cost to send the wig back cost 66.00 and it was their mistake Lord help them how could you treat anyone this way no more China wigs
Etsy gets a lot of negative reviews for the way it treats buyers, but the way is treats its sellers is even worse. If you have stuff to sell, sell it on eBay or any of the other sites, Etsy is run by a horrible man who has a very child-throwing-a-tantrum method of dealing with sellers who express concerns. There's no mystery as to why this company hasn't turned a profit in years, their customer service and seller support are a joke, SHOP AND SELL ELSEWHERE.
Etsy is absolutely terrible. I ordered shirts from there two whole months ago, never received them. I tried to contact the sellee, never replied to me. The sellers will create fake accounts and post good reviews to make themselves look good, but in reality, they suck. Most of the sellers are scam artists in this and will take your money and either not send you your item, or will send you something totally different frok what you bought. STAY AWAY FROM ETSY. IT IS TERRIBLE.
I was happy with Etsy for a very long time but it went downhill quickly. I sell mainly vintage/estate jewelry and had buyers complain that items took "TWO DAYS to arrive" (nobody offered or PAID for overnight). Many buyers don't read the details or only read them AFTER they have ordered and paid then want to cancel. Etsy blames the seller for this. I also had no problem with giving a refund AFTER IT GET THE ITEM BACK. Etsy will cave to buyers by giving the refund before or INSTEAD of the return - so out the money AND the item. You can only have 3 complaints in 18 months or you are suspended for a month. On number 4 you are closed down forever. I made some nice cash there while it lasted but I could only lose so many items and so much money before we had to part company. I would try it again though if I was able to enforce my terms but I cant afford to give items away free.
Great stuff! I love getting all my handcrafted bracelets and necklaces here. Its really hard to pick something out of all the great things that are available.
I really like this site because I can get unique gifts for my wife. The site is pretty easy to use. I've never had an issue with any purchase I've made through them.
I ordered two products from a seller in July. The shipping date was to be in September. Up until shipping, the seller's communication was great. Then when she sent me tracking information, the package was languishing in pre-transit status for 2 weeks. When I asked her about it, she said she would call the post office. I don't know about your area, but our post office wouldn't be much help over the phone so I asked her to send me a copy of the shipping receipt. Wouldn't you know she stopped communicating? So I opened a case with Etsy stating that my desired resolution would be to receive replacement items or proof that the originals had really been shipped. Instead Etsy immediately refunded my money, ensuring the seller that they were covering it for her and not taking it out of her funds. Clearly she never shipped it or she'd be outraged. So now here I am, back at square one after wasting 2.5 months on her making items that I don't have enough time to order from anyone else. And what is ridiculous is in the meantime, her store says the items are "in stock" and she is running sales. Apparently Etsy sellers are under no obligation to communicate with their buyers and the buyers are the ones that are penalized. Seller lied about shipping and has zero repercussions. Never. Again.

After two smooth transactions through Etsy, I was not worried about ordering 2 pairs of earrings from Janet Galla at TrinketsNWhatnots. When the earrings did not arrive after 2 weeks, I wrote to her asking where they were. Supposedly lost in the post. We had a cordial exchange in which I said I would be happy to wait for a new pair. Then she supposedly had trouble sourcing some stones. I still waited pleasantly. Then she stopped replying to my emails. After 3 emails, I made a complaint to Etsy and Paypal. But wait, You CANNOT make a complaint to Paypal after 45 days and Etsy after 60 days. This buyer strung me along, knowing full well that I would be impotent to get a refund--OR EVEN GIVE BUYER FEEDBACK--while I waited with good will for my earrings. She robbed me of my money and both Etsy and Paypal will do nothing to back me up. Terrible terrible customer service from every angle. STAY AWAY!
Tip for consumers:
Buyer beware. Etsy will not protect its customers. You can easily be robbed.
If I could, I would give this site a zero. Ordering and paying for an item is easy. Keep your fingers crossed that it comes because apparently the sellers on Etsy are just allowed to rip you off. There is absolutely NO buyer protection or customer service. The only response I received was an automated email telling me not to identify the company that ripped me off for privacy reasons. Yeah right... so that they can continue to rip other people off! By the way, it was "Southern Royals" out of Florida and they essentially stole $57.50 from me. Stay away from this website.
6/29/2015 - Just a follow-up to say that I never received the item and was never refunded the money. I am quite sure that there are plenty of ethical people who sell items on Etsy. The problem is, as a buyer you have no way of knowing who is ethical and who is not. The vendor I purchased my item from had received raving reviews. If the website has no protection for the BUYER, then you are taking a risk anytime you purchase something from this site.
I had several RL issues hit me at once, which resulted in less than 10% of my Etsy orders being shipped late. Etsy said that since I had such a good record previously, they would put me on probation for 30 days to give me a chance to turn things around. During that time, they would hold all money I made, and it would be released upon successful completion of probation. I was encouraged to complete as many new transactions as possible because the more positive reviews I had, the better my numbers would be. Within the probation period, I resolved all the complaints against me, and completed over 200 new transactions without complaints. I earned pages and pages of 5 star reviews. Etsy then informed me that I had failed probation (?) and that they will hold my money for SIX MONTHS because someone else might file a complaint against me in the future. All of my items are shipped. Most have already received excellent feedback. There is absolutely no justification for them to hold my money. And by the way, they reminded me that my bill is due the first of next month. Etsy's website states that I can request a committee review of my suspension. I did so, but was informed that there would be no review and the agent's decision was final. Etsy obviously never had any intention of working with me and the whole probation period was nothing but their way of making as much money as possible off me before leaving me high and dry.
I've had an Etsy shop for 4 years. Their fees…. 20-35%, so they make more from my sales than I do.
Despite having a 5 star rating, Etsy randomly restricted my account for 90 days. This means they keep 75% (MINIMUM) off all earnings - including shipping fees, until the item has been dispatched. The irony is that Etsy's tracking system doesn't work! I've got items that were delivered 2 months ago still showing as pre-transit according to Etsy.
Example:
I sold an item for £7.50 (inc. Pp). Etsy fees were £2.50, and they reserved £5.54, meaning I 'owed' my reserve 54p! I still had to ship the item.
Today I have 75% of money from 8 orders in reserve. Yet all but 2 of my sales have been delivered.
Why not appeal? Well, as with ALL Etsy's policies, you have NO RIGHT to complain or appeal. I have been told 'we don't look in to any appeals as we trust our algorithms', and that I 'might find the reserves useful'.
How is getting in to debt to dispatch items helpful?
If I'd read Etsy reviews before opening a shop, I would have stuck with eBay.
AVOID Etsy if it's your only income, as you'll end up at the doctors or looking for a second job.
VERY UNETHICAL COMPANY.
Was looking for a specific product and Etsy showed up in the search. There is no method to their pricing. It ranged from $10 to $45. I bought it elsewhere for $3.
Tip for consumers:
Check prices elsewhere before making a purchase.
Fore The Love of Wood LLC. Is a scam business selling on Etsy. We paid over $2000 for a custom table that never existed. We ordered the table through the site and had no idea of the hell we were about to enter. On the day we were supposed to see that the table had shipped I contacted the seller. They apologized and said the truck had broke down and that they would ship as soon as the delivery company could send a new truck. 2 months went by, email communications back and forth with more promises. I finally got fed up and questioned the shops legitimacy. That's when I received a scathing email in return. Nasty comments that were way beyond a typical reaction. Since that time communication has ceased. So, we filed a non-delivery case with Etsy (a complete joke). We have now watched a total of 3 months pass on the calendar. No feedback, no intervention, no refund. We can't go to the bank given this is one of Etsy's rules... if we file a complaint with the bank, your case automatically closes. So, we wait.
I would highly recommend a few steps if you buy on Etsy. 1. Always pay with a credit card. 2. Don't use Etsy for large, high dollar items.
I ordered and paid for my item promply, after a week I sent numerous messages to the seller in regards to when my item would be sent, after another week they responded that they were sorry about the delay and would send it, after almost a third c week he or she finally sent it but the tracking number is still in the same area after another 5 days! Iron icky the seller is no longer a seller and etsy wants me to try and work it out with the seller! Well I'm still being redirected to a seller that no longer exist! No money and no irem!
Tip for consumers:
Be prepared to have an awesome ride on a Faris wheel!!!
I place an order with Etsy and never received a confirmation nor a delivery schedule. When finally I got in contact with them happens that I got transfer to another company which said my order could not be cancel because it was over 48 hours. It took more then 48 hours for them to respond to my delivery request.
The delivery is December and ships from overseas. I leave during the winter and back in March of 2023 and I needed the product before Thanksgiving, DO NOT BUY FROM ETSY. THEY HAVE NO STOCK.
Tip for consumers:
MAKE SURE SHIPPING POINT IS USA AND WHEN THEY QUOTE STOCK IS TRUE.

Closed your seller account with no reason no mail no customer service help you back your account, you cant open any new one
If you log in from any cyber cafe public wifi they closed your account as a comon ip
Dont tell you why they close your account
Not just me over 5000 person in group on facebook have the same problem in just my country and i see the same problem in all the world
Ive had some success withEtsy, but when there is a problem there is no number to call and no way to get help.
Ive wasted an inordanate amount of time trying to find the right laction on the site to report a seller, who took my money, never sent the items and now doesnt respond to any follow messages.
I am so frustrated. Etsy is fine if all goeswell, but a nightmare if theres a problem!
Etsy is not a real e-commerce but a scam website run by six people (two of which drug addicts) and millions of scammers!
Etsy does not have a Customer Service nor a Buyer Protection. All phone calls are automated and when you will get scammed (yes, you certainly will) you won't have where to turn for help!
Even if you manage to contact Etsy, you will receive an automated response via email after 7-14 days and it will tell you to report the case to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
As anything else, images and feedback are also fake. Etsy scammers purchase positive feedback from illegal Russian "agencies" for $4.50 per item, whereas images are all taken from web.
If you have money and consciously want to feed them to scammers, then go ahead and try Etsy. If your money is hard earned, AVOID ETSY AT ALL COSTS FOR IT IS A SCAM!
Tip for consumers:
DO NOT BUY FROM ETSY.COM
