They ever going to fix their registration? "A site where millions of people come for fresh perspective on what's happening now. Join Gather." Except you can't join and it's been like this for quite sometime.

The now-defunct Gather site was always a joke, and a sorry excuse for a social media site. Just a sad place for no-talent, embittered wanna-be writers to criticize others and pretend they had any meaningful advice or purpose in life. I join many in the online community in saying we don't miss it and are glad it is in online limbo where it belongs.

Special shout out to its failure of a CEO, Tom Gerace, who is a hack and a wuss of the first order and who has hopefully either jumped off a bridge at this point or probably moved on to stain the online world with yet another failed venture.

Good Riddance!

Tip for consumers:
Don't bother - it's dead and buried. Fortunately for all of us!

However, the Gather.com page now appears to be completely defunct from a social networking perspective. It is no longer possible to receive a subdomain or to remove articles for privacy purposes. Enquiries to the parent company, Skyword, about removing licensed material, go unanswered, or are redirected to Kitara Media, which also doesn't answer. The future of Gather.com remains unclear.[7]

Gather was a crappy website so no big loss.

I have been a member of Gather.com since 2006, but I've been less active on the site for several months and have not checked on my account for the last month. I went to show my Dad my images on Gather.com this weekend... the site has gone to a wordpress format, won't let me log in, won't send me my password, and gives me an error message when I attempt to visit my account. This, with no email notification from Gather, no communication whatsoever from the administration.
There is no "contact us" or "help" tab that shows on the site when I visit Gather.com. Looks like everything I put up on the site is simply gone forever - the writing, the photos, everything. This is the second time I've lost an entire gather.com account due to bugs from a site update, and about the 4th time I've lost content for that reason. The first time I had an issue it took months to even get it addressed, and that only happened after I started a new account and began writing about it for other people in the community to see.

If my stuff really is gone, I don't really want my password issue fixed, as I can't really consider the site trustworthy or even worth using for fun.

Tip for consumers:
You'd be better off starting your own wordpress blog or blogger.com blog and promoting it yourself than to trust this site with your work.

"Review" pages are just stubs about the topic with a link to "Click Here To Find The Top Rated [type of item being 'reviewed'] On The Market!" that links to an Amazon search for the type of item being 'reviewed'...

At one time Gather was a great site. Around 2006-2007 there were member managers. There was a group of them that did a great job. Their top manager was Susan and she was fair, honest, caring and decent. Then there was Kevin. He was power hungry and eager to cause trouble. He started out helpful then turned on Susan and her other assistants. He decided he wanted power and would do anything to get it. He drove a wedge in between rightful management (Susan was hired and on payroll, Kevin was not) and made life so miserable that ones that didn't quit, disappeared. He ruined a site that was doing great with a lot of talent in photography, essays and even informational articles. Aftera mass exodus, FB offered a number of the admins a short term position which most took. When the admins left, hundreds of Gather members went with them. Long story short. If Gather had had a better handle on their members and supported the admins, the group would have continued to grow. As it is, it's dead. And it's no ones fault but Gather.
