I noticed reading MANY of the reviews that just about every ( of course I did not read EVERY ONE) 4 to 5 stars are from 2018 and before and that the 1 stars are MOSTLY from 2022-2023, Looks like the change came after 2018.
Sold them a $131.00 unblemished iPhone, they received and informed it was now worth only $91.00, I accepted, they never put the check in the mail, they have no customer support, they say they will call in 24 - 48 hours, it's been a week. Do not trade with these crooks and liars. There business model must be based on the small seller not wanting to seek legal council to collect on their meager offering. They've got your device and you have no recourse. Seller beware of these crooks...
I tried to trade in a phone that I had purchased as a temporary phone while I waited to get a nicer phone. I purchased a brand new pixel 5 in October of last year, promptly put it in an otterbox and replaced it in December with my current phone. Gazelle offered me 100 bucks for my pixel in the reported condition and I accepted the offer. It took almost a whole week for my prepaid box to show up at my house.
About a week went by after mailing my phone in and I just received an email today stating that my phone is in poor condition from what they expected, because it is somehow "scratched up significantly" and they updated the offer to 30$. Total bait and switch scam company. Gives you a high offer with no intention of keeping it, expecting people to just take the crappy offer and not want to deal with the phone being shipped back again. Absolutely not, send me my phone back and I will recommend anyone stay far far away from Gazelle.
I purchaseed another ipadd from Gazelle. Sent my old Ipad to them via offer. I had used the Ipad since new. Just had the battery replaced at a cost of $100.00.
Shipped in their box, when received evidently was damged during transit. Keeps in a boot loop.
So they sent back to me. I now have a non working Ipad and eveidently they take no responsibility for the damage. Have not even answered email or request!
Sent them a like new phone, no scratches. Offered almost $500 and when they got it said it's all scratched and offered $100. Wasted my time. They were significantly higher on the estimate than similar sites, cause it's a lie!
I sent them a iPhone 12 mini. Offer was $229. They record the package on march 7th 2023 and I never received and email or phone call. For on march 14th 2023 I called. Spent 3 hours on the phone and the only thing anyone could tell me is that the tape was ripped and the phone wasn't in the box. I asked them about insurance on the package and the 3 different people I spoke to (didn't speak good English) told me the same thing over and over about the phone not being in the box. There was nothing on the usps tracking about the package being damaged and the item with handed to a person when they received it.
Fully unlocked model they changed model from unlocked to unlocked other and changed from 296.xx to 132.
Not in this world gazelle.
I sold an iPhone 12Pro and was quoted $367. I only received $107, with no explanation for the reduced price. I will never use them again and I will tell everyone everywhere.
Terrible customer service they used to be pretty good I have bought phones from them for years. But in the last year or so their customer service is almost non existent. Wait times are at about a hour if you dont get disconnected. If you have a issue with a phone or Order your pretty much on your own.
I accepted an offer of $155 to buy my 9-month old iPhone SE 3rd Generation and sent it in as instructed. When Gazelle received my phone, they told me that it was actually an iPhone 4 and they would give me $1 for it. I declined the new offer and asked them to send my SE back to me. They sent me an iPhone 4. I called two of their customer service lines to try to get the issue resolved. I was on hold listening to jazz music for 54 minutes with the first line, and not willing to wait that long on the second line. The company clearly has no values for customer service, and at this point, looks like scammers.
They stole my phones and repeatedly lied about sending me my gift cards. DO NOT EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THESE RIP OFF SCOUNDRELS!
I sent them an iPad Pro 12.9" 3rd generation in like-new, fully functional condition for trade-in. They initially offered $346. Once they looked it over they changed the offer to $113 because of "many scratches". The screen and back are completely free of any scratches or marks of any kind. Only the plug area has a few external scratches where the charging plug went in and out over time. (The scratches are so tiny I couldn't get a photo in focus when moving the camera that close). I took it down to my local Apple store to get their review of it and they agreed they would give me maximum trade-in credit for the condition it is in. Apparently the game that places like Gazelle play is to make a big offer up front then create some issue to lower the offer in the hope the customer will simply go along with it. After reading other reviews of similar businesses like Gazelle, it appears many of these online trade-in places are scams. Avoid!
I sent in 2 phones, first one was fine, the second one they reduced from 288 to 50 due to "scratches". I emailed them letting them know that the damage must have happened in their care because the phone was not scratched when it was shipped and was always in a case. Then I get the following message reducing the amount further from 50 to 0! PLEASE someone tell me the difference in the model I submitted vs what they say it is. LOL! What a joke.
When we checked out your Samsung Galaxy Note20 5G 128GB (Unlocked), we found some conditions that affected the value of your item. Here's what we found:
Scratches: We found that the device has more than the acceptable amount of scratches.
Model Change: We discovered that the Cell Phone you sent in is actually a different model. Because different models have distinct values, this affects the offer we can make.
Model Change: We discovered that the Cell Phone you sent in is actually a different model. Because different models have distinct values, this affects the offer we can make.
You identified your gadget as a Samsung Galaxy Note20 5G 128GB (Unlocked), but it is actually a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G 128GB (Unlocked).
12/28/23 - Absolutely the worst experience I have had with an online retailer. They have had my iPad since December 20 and every time I call they tell me I will have an offer in my email the next day which has still not happened as of now. Last call was yesterday and I was left on hold for over two hours. Nobody knows where my iPad is or what's going on with it. Do not trust them. Huge scam.
1-3-23 UPDATE: Sat on hold for another 3 hours to be told that 7-10 business days from Dec 20th isn't really in effect because they are so far behind. They didn't know when I would hear from someone but to keep checking weekly for updates. Weekly?
Why wouldn't someone tell a customer that they are that far behind!?! Still couldn't tell me if they even knew where it was.
UPDATE: Here we are January 9th - never had anyone from Gazelle reach out. Have since then called two more times only to be put in an endless on hold loop. I guess lesson learned on my end. Complete loss for me. Estimate payout was $529 - I got nothing except the run around and a loss of many many hours on hold. SHAME ON YOU GAZELLE!
I sent them my factory reset Samsung S21 Ultra that had no scratches, has a Verizon sim card with a cover that had a the s-pen in it. Once they had it they tried to say it had scratches, that it was not a Verizon sim card, stated they could not make a call from it (I transferred service to my new phone) and changed their offer from $326+ to $33. When I said no to their revised offer they sent my phone back, without a cover and s-pen. I get it, but still disappointed that they tried to rip me off.
Tried to get an iPad for Christmas, paid for expedited shipping. Got an email saying it was delayed. The email should have said they were out of stock. Cancelled and got a refund. Found a better deal a local pawn shop. My parents came in for Christmas and my mom cracked her screen, she order an unlocked phone and they sent her one that is locked. Called the carrier and the phone still has money owed on it. So gazelle is obtaining phones that cannot be unlocked and selling them as unlocked. They do not exchange or get another on the way or anything. Hold times were ridiculous as well.
Purchased an iPhone 12 Mini and paid for expedited shipping of 2-3 business days because I need a phone for my job. It had not arrived by the 12th business day, so I wrote in to ask what was going on. They said they would give me a refund for the expedited shipping. After a few more days of no news, I messaged them asking for any updates on my phone being shipped to me, and they gave me a refund for the phone without responding to me. I still need a phone. Don't bother buying from them.
I'm Tasha Jackson & I received my order yesterday it was in the mailbox. As soon as I got it I opened it & the phone looked good as new! A couple or scratches but you hardly can see them. Thanks gazelle!
Gazelle sold me a stolen iPhone 12 mini. When I went to activate it through AT&T I learned it had been reported stolen and all services are permanently suspended. I can't use the phone and am travelling through the New Year. So much for the Gazelle's system check CheckMEND - their USELESS 'cutting-edge tool designed to more accurately detect potentially stolen goods, including smartphones. Gazelle traffics stolen good. 100% would NOT recommend.
Used Gazelle for years but last experience was a scam: They made a high offer $100+ for a used iPad then reduced that to less than $10 claiming the iPad was scratched. It was the n exceptional condition. This company is a cheap scam
Answer: No experience with that. Experience with their staff and their customer service, don't fo business with them. My phone was returned in October, and I still have not received my refund. They finally sent me an email saying my return was received, in December but tracking showed it received in October, and still no refund.
Answer: I would not buy from or sell to Gazelle regardless of what they claim.
Answer: No! Dishonest! Had to file a dispute with my credit card company tinged my money back and that took 3 months
