The London based Churchill Warroom museum experience is wonderful but PLEASE NOTE….only book your tickets directly from the museum website and NOT thru a third party guide service….especially the GetYourGuide organization! We did and we are hurting for it! Above and beyond being overly rigid there's absolutely no value added as the museum visit is a self guided tour with audio and does NOT need a guide. Th
GetYourGuide is only a rigid money-grab option for the unwary.
Our London Underground train had issues and delayed our arrival at the prescribed meeting point by 5 minutes. I used the mandatory GetYourGuide app to communicate in advance that we would be delayed by 5 minutes (email and chat service) in order to provide confirmation that we were on our way and definitely going to arrive. The email response I received immediately indicated that 'high volumes' would cause up to a 48 hr delay in responding. Then I used the online automated chat service which was obviously not a real person….by the time I got through to a real attendant it was after the meeting time and here's where it gets even more awful. GetYourGuide has a policy that if you are late you may miss your scheduled visit slot….and you have to rebook another time. Despite making concerted efforts to communicate in advance….the attendant was:
A). Unwilling to contact the guide to coordinate a new meeting place (or couldn't because it's a outsourced support service)
B) unwilling to rebook our visit
C) unwilling to provide a refund….and was rigid/inflexible in enforcing a policy that could easily have been managed more flexibly
Simply put….GetYourGuide offers a needless and expensive service that amounts to a money grab. They outsource to independent guides and support services that leave the customer without any direct means of recourse or opportunity to find workable solutions.
In the end we went directly to the museum, stood in line and bought duplicate tickets for 1/3 of the price we had paid to GetYourGuide
Great museum tour but terrible experience with GetYourGuide. We learned a lesson with this one!
I booked an afternoon tea boat trip on the Ouze and when COVID restrictions happened they contacted me to rearrange, this was fairly straight forward and the trip itself went ahead without a hitch.
Jamie was very knowledgeable and humorous too. It was a fun tour of 8 people. From Bath Abbey to the Royal Crescent and back down to the Roman Baths.
We booked a Warner Bro's Tour, paid for that and, when we got to the local operator in the day of the tour, me and my family where surprised by the complete mess Get Your Guide did.
Just to make clear how easy is to make people understand the lack of competence Get Your Guide has, I have all files containing:
1. The voucher from Get Your Guide affirming everything was OK (Nov, 15th)
2. Messages between Evans Evans Tours (local operator) and Get Your Guide about no availabilty (Nov, 21st) > no one let us know about that! Evans Evans Tours gave me those messages hard copies when they saw what Get Tour Guide had done.
3. After getting to Evans Evans Tours and be noticed on the problem, I called the customer service and got the orientation to send an email to customer. Service. Than I got:
- e-mail confirming the tour that was about to happen! How could that be possible?
- e-mail confirming that I had called customer service (asking to rate the contact)
- e-mail saying that customer. Service was not active (totally different from the orientation I got by phone!)
AGAIN... DON'T TRUST ON GET YOUR GUIDE SERVICE! YOU CAN PUT IN RISK YOUR VACATION WITH FAMILY
Don't use getyourguide. Just purchase tickets straight from the site of whatever attraction you're looking at going to. It will end up costing less in money and stress.
I just got back from a 7-day vacation to the Gold Coast, Australia. I paid GYG $338.00 for a pass into several theme parks in the Gold Coast. Got to the gate of the first park on the first day - refused entry.
They said they didn't have any record of our booking. We called GYG - the person on the other end had no idea what the problem seemed to be. She kept giving us the Get Your Guide booking reference no. But the theme park operator said we needed a reference no. Sent from the theme park itself, which would've been sent had GYG booked our tickets on our behalf as they were supposed to.
I'd bought the tickets from GYG about 2 months in advance and was never contacted about any sort of issue with my order.
The phone call itself took about an hour and got us nowhere - the phone operator refused to say whether we could be offered a refund nor whether if the issue could get resolved quickly - an important piece of info for us since we were at the gate of a park an hour out from the city and couldn't get in! The operator then said she was making a complaint on our behalf and that someone else from GYG would deal with it.
We decided just to buy tickets from the theme park we were trying to enter, another $360.00 total.
Took about a day before I was emailed from someone at GYG only to be told that it could take up to 5 days for the issue to be reviewed and "resolved".
Very obscure wording and would've taken our entire trip.
I sent back that I'd only be accepting a refund as we won't even use the tickets once our trip was over.
The kicker? It took about a week to receive news that I'd only be getting $253.50 back. What happened to the other $80.00? We'll never know. Couldn't be $#*!ed to chase it up.
Just don't use them. It's not worth it.

Excellent service, safety policy and performance. Organisation and delivery 110%. Ride was fun and even at the age of 65 thought it was amazing.
I wrote a dozen times to the helpdesk and they just do not answer. It is an absolute joke of communication.
