I purchased this coffee about a week ago after seeing positive reviews all over the internet. I boyght the Colombia medium roast as that is my preferred type of coffee. So as soon as I opened the bag I noticed it had a pretty unpleasant smell like maybe badly burnt toast, but I proceeded to make coffee anyways. The smell did not improve in the cup and the flavor was only what I can explain as chicken that was burnt on the grill and seasoned with dirt. Even after adding double my usual cream and sugar and hazelnut syrup it was still just awful. I thought maybe it was my fault for using my keurig so I made a whole pot and smelled up my house and it was no better at all. I tried cooling it and making iced coffee hoping that would help but just tasted like cold burnt chicken and dirt. The best part is its nearly impossible to get the after taste out of your mouth. I will not be buying anything else by Gevalia, this was a horrendous experience.
Gevalia used to market fantastic coffee - smooth & rich. Good stuff. But the last two store purchases (Traditional Roast & French Roast) smells musty when hot water hits it. And tastes as though it was filter-brewed through moldy canvas. It's awful. I use filtered water & a coffee press & other brands taste just fine. So I know the problem is the Gevalia. I also drink my coffee black, so taste nuances are very noticeable. Will not buy this brand again.
Gevalia sent me my coffee maker and coffee fast and everything was of good quality and only $14.95 so I would say if you are looking at getting there intro deal then go for it. After your coffee maker shows up then cancel becuse the next shipment of coffee is not cheep it will be like $30+ but other than that where will you get a good coffee maker and some coffee for under $20?
I signed up a year or so ago for promotional emails from Gevalia. The first email I received from them contained a promo code for 15% my first order. I saved it for awhile but eventually discarded it. Today I went to place an order, & placed 2 calls to Gevalia customer service to get a promo code. The second call I was placed on hold for 21 minutes. The rep was nice but placed me on hold (again) to speak to her supervisor. As it turns out, I am out of luck! Each promo code is "unique" to each customer it's sent to & they will not assign another promo code to someone in my situation. What a pathetic & miserable excuse for customer service. That is unless they want to anger & lose customers.
I had several pods out of a box leaked coffee grounds thru due to inside filter coming unglued. Also the aluminum top of the pod is made from a thinner metal than other pod coffees.
This is a wonder site that does what it promises. - THIS SITE DESERVES FIVE STARS. THEY FULFILL THEIR PROMISES.
THEY ALSO GIVE YOU A WAY OF TRACKING YOUR ORDERS. THAT REALLY HELPS.
WAY TO GO GEVALIA.
I have a Tassimo machine and this is the only place I will buy the CARAMEL LATTE MACCHIATO for this machine because it is perfect. I will only buy it when they have a sale with free shipping as it is expensive but I do love this coffee and will gladly wait for a sale I"m giving 4 stars because it takes a year or more for a good sale to pop up on the Tassimo coffees
Here is what I HATE about Gevalia... Their coffee sucks and for those of you who enjoy their under roasted, completely stale beans... well, then you just like bad coffee. But my current rant about the company is that I got an unsolicited email from them recently and I sent them back (on their link) a message to unsubscribe... and suddenly I have an account with them! And I can't cancel! I'm not currently getting any beans from them (I am thankful for small miracles) but I am not only getting spammed by them, I am getting spammed by EVERYTHING that KRAFT foods, inc owns. Yeah... sorry to burst your bubble those of you thinking you are getting the best coffee in the world: they are owned by Kraft Foods, inc., makers of Cheeze Whiz. Just... please re-think your subscription to GEVALIA and buy your coffee in small batches at your local organic store that sells shade-grown/fair-trade/not-killing-songbirds coffee. GEVALIA is the coffee equivalent to Tar Sand Mining. We can do better, people!
