I got this card for my young teenager. It worked maybe 60% of the time though the funds were in her account. She got to the point where she was too embarrassed to use it in person because her charges would often decline erroneously. I closed the account over a month ago. She had a small balance, and I was told that those funds would be electronically deposited into my parent account within 7-10 business days. I still haven't received the balance of the funds.
Initially, local tests at various businesses were successful. Later, out of state, it stopped working, even though funds were available. Also, to cancel the account, the site requires either a call or an email. See image... not what you'd expect from an online financial service. Card was for child going to an out-of-state sports competition... not a good situation when it failed. I could give several other reasons, but these were enough for us to cancel. Don't bother buying this service. Just go to your nearby credit union and try opening a new account, for free, as we did. You can move funds easily and track usage. Best of all, it works in any US state. Our CU also provides security options, and services that warn of and pause the account if they identify potential theft.
Gohenry credit card Co for kids.Customer service is non existing...there answers are standard BS...DO NOT RECOMMENDED.had complaint about $20.00.an they gave me the run around.can you imagine if it would have been more money..
In general I will say I like the idea of this. The kids can have their own login and keep track of their spending and have a debit card without having a bank account that you have to worry about. As for their referral program is why they got four stars. I signed up through a link with a $30 bonus and they don't honor it. If you do sign up make sure you go through a link with an actual customer that uses it and they have to be in the US if you are or the UK if that is where you are. I do like it for my kids it is cheaper than buying those cards at the store with a fee. It also has lessons for them too based on their age. If you need a referral let me know I still use it and plan to for a while unless something changes.
Tip for consumers:
Helps kids learn about banking and spending and saving money.
