I was looking for an English Bulldog, which can be a challenge. Good Dog vetted breeders so I didn't have to worry about a potential scam. They also followed up during the process and provided useful articles for bringing home a puppy. Overall, great experience.
I contacted a couple of breeders on GoodDog.com and one of them was KZAAM Golden Retriever (Patty Byler). Since we have had 7 Golden Retrievers before I am trained in how to select a puppy. You always look at the parents to see how they are. You would be surprised at what you will find out there with breeders that are not very good. So, I always ask the Breeder to provide pictures of the male and female parents. I require a picture of the dogs in the standing position with one pic of the side view and one of the front. Looking at both parents like this will give you a good idea on what the pup will look like when they are an adult. There is nothing like seeing both parents for yourselves. This way you can see the disposition of the dame/sire. If this is not possible, go with the pictures. This method of selecting a pup has always given us great Golden Retrievers that look like the Goldens they use on TV. When I insisted Patty to provide these pictures she finally said that she was not good with letting us have one of her pups. My response to her was, without the pics we would not purchase a pup from her. Just thought anyone looking for a purebred dog should know this before looking for a purebred pup.
After almost getting scammed by several breeders on line, I finally discovered gooddog.com. They hooked me up with a great breeder in my state, only 2 hours from my home. The service is outstanding. Everything from the first e-mail right down to the day I picked up my puppy including after pick up, I received white glove service. My breeder was even available to me for questions after my puppy came home. I had an opportunity to speak to the customer service representative and both times I received impeccable service. So grateful I found gooddog.com
At first I had I had time navigating through the good dog app. But once I Figured it out I was OK it was very helpful connection with the breeder Beautiful dogs and very healthy litters we just love our little Emma she's so sweet. Thank you for Connecting me with the breeder
I was looking around for a Pekingese I came across good dog and I liked it because I was a little bit worried about the money exchange but it all went through it’s a Very safe way When handling your money ♥️
My experience with Good Dog and Camber at Mayfield Farms in Gig Harbor, Wa has been the best! She has been more than helpful and willing to answer any questions I've had throughout the whole process.
It was great going out to meet my puppy before bringing her home and I could tell she truly cared for her dogs upon meeting her.
Overall, my experience with Good Dog and in particular Camber at Mayfield Farms has been easy and enjoyable.
I am a breeder on Good Dog, and have had an exceptionally positive experience working with Good Dog representatives. They have been very knowledgeable, helpful, and very quick to respond to my questions. I love all the educational webinars and the Avidog training available to breeders and buyers. I have met and found wonderful families for my puppies, whom I stay in contact with. It's a great sight for responsible buyers to find ethical and reputable breeders. Breeders must go through an application and approval process, as well as buyers.
I am a breeder of cavalier King Charles Cavaliers.
One issue my Blenheims have is testy eyes. Since being on Dr Marty's diet thier eyes have greatly improved.
Us breeders had high hopes. The platform promised that it would focus on health.
If you take a look at their new "and improved" setup, you no longer can filter on the breeders that do the most health testing first. In fact, there's no longer a filter option available for that.
Minimum testing required is Embark DNA, which is only $200 and anyone can do. And there's no way for breeders that spend the extra $1000 per dog in testing to shine above those that put in minimal effort and not enough testing.
They have a new "preferred breeder" feature, but instead of it being health related, it's based on who has had their customers pay through their website instead.
What a shame!
EDITED 4/1/24:
If you take a look at the screenshot, after 1 year of seeing multiple people complain about this feature, it is still not resolved. There is no way to filter for breeders that perform health testing at a certain level, from the ones that do the minimum amount possible. I get emails several times a month from them trying to get me to have my puppy owners pay through their website though, so that I can be part of their "preferred program". What about the fact that I have great and excellent testing for all my dogs? That means nothing for them. Still extremely disappointing.
Hi Kim,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback with us. We’re happy to share more information about the Preferred Breeder Program that might be helpful. The Good Dog Preferred Breeder program recognizes and rewards Good Breeders for choosing to place their pups on Good Dog, and their dedication to supporting Good Dog buyers.
In addition to maintaining a 48 hour response time to messages and accepting at least one final puppy payment through Good Dog in the past 6 months, Preferred Breeders must also maintain compliance with Good Dog's policies, including our health testing requirements, Community Standards, and On-Platform Payment Policy in order to qualify for Preferred Breeder status.
We’re also excited to let you know that you can already receive Breeding Dog Badges to differentiate your program and receive recognition for the health testing performed on your breeding dogs, by sharing your dogs’ health test files and links directly on your profile. Read more here: https://www.gooddog.com/good-breeder-center/breeding-dog-badges
We hope this is helpful information, but if you have any questions about how to receive health testing badges for your sires and dams, or questions about qualifying for our Preferred Breeder Program, please reach out to us at breederteam@gooddog.com.
Warmly,
The Good Dog Team
A colleague reached out to GoodDog to see about listing with them. There is ZERO expertise in the "vetting" process. It's just some know-nothing intern type that googles your company and looks for any negative reviews, in this case, the reviews weren't even for the right company. Do your own research, and talk to the breeder, shelter, person, etc, for yourself. Gooddog.com is a scam of sorts, and they don't know anything about breeding practices that you couldn't find in a 10-second google search.
Hi Paul,
We’re very sorry to hear about your experience. At Good Dog, our community and customers are the most important thing and we continuously strive to provide excellent service. We’d love the opportunity to talk to you and understand more about what happened. Please email us at help@gooddog.com or give us a call at 855.446.6336. We are looking forward to hearing from you soon!

We were looking for a miniature schnauzer and our daughter found Lynns Charming Schnauzers 230 miles from our home. Used good dog for our down payment services and Lynn had our little boy all ready when we arrived. She is very knowledgeable about the breed and had his parents and other schnauzers ready to meet us. We have stayed in contact with her and feel we can ask her anything about our boy. She is a great person and so devoted to her pups.
At first, I was not too confident as our money was collected and deducted from our bank account, but the breeder was unable to receive our money. The breeder was new to Good Dog as well. Worried about it and not wanting to have to be out double the money, I placed a call to Good Dog. I had to leave a message which really made me worry. It wasn't too terribly long that I received a very detail voicemail assuring me my money was guaranteed. The day we were driving to get our new dog, the breeder called stating that he had received our money.
I happened across Good Dog because apparently my breeder had just signed up through you. It was new to the seller and buyer so as with anything there are growing pains.
Found our first dachshund puppy to adopt in January- communicated with breeder weekly as she sent updates and pictures. She was very helpful in answering all questions promptly and sounded very legit. A month before we were to get our puppy she messaged me and said she took him to vet for worming and next day he didn't look well. She took him back to the vet and vet told her to take him back home to be with mother dog. She said he passed away overnight and he passed from fading puppy syndrome. Never hearing about that I goggled it and thought well maybe that was what happened. She said in 5 years she had been breeding dachshunds she never had that happen. I asked if our puppy was the only one who passed and she said yes. She offered to refund money or we could use that deposit to have first choice on next liter- we decided we'd pick another one from next liter. She said they were due any day but after 10 days and checking on when they were coming she said they were born. We picked out another male black and tan because she said there were 4 in this liter. We got weekly updates for 3 weeks because they were born Feb6th. Mind you these messages which started back in January were on a continuing thread on gooddog messages. This past Saturday the messages were all gone and she blocked me because I couldn't reach her in any way- everything I tried to send would not go through. I set up another good dog account through my husbands email and name spelled differently to see if I could contact her through that. It worked- I inquired about new liter pups that she had and got many replies.
This breeder is obviously not legit!, what is Good Dog going to do about my 300$ deposit and fees initially paid in January?
Hi Laurie,
Thank you so much for reaching out. We’re so sorry to hear that you didn’t have the experience you came to us for, and understand how upsetting this situation must have been.
We’re glad our Care team was able to support you as we worked through this issue towards a resolution and refund. As our team shared with you, we take enforcement of our standards incredibly seriously and have a process in place in which we conduct an independent investigation of all complaints in order to ensure that our standards are enforced consistently and fairly. We can assure you that your complaints have been taken seriously and we are actively looking into the program to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
Please feel free to call/text us at 855-446-6336, or email us at help@gooddog.com if there is anything else we can do to support you!
Warmly,
The Good Dog Team
It's been ALOT of hunting down paperwork, desrcibing the parents, uploading test results, etc but, it's worth it. Now all my latest dogs/records are all in one place as I will be doing another breeding with Esther next year to her Grandfather.
Hannah Clayton told me about it
Dealing with Lizzy at EJC Cattle Dogs has been who I found on GoodDog.com has been awesome! GoodDogs.com has been super helpful and the staff Emailed me a lot making sure I was finding the right breeders and always there to answer any questions I've had and giving me recommendations on breeders. I pick up my little buddy next weekend and I'm super excited
Google search for the dog breed I was looking for and Good Dog came up. With so many scams these days, Good Dog made me fill protected and safe.
Its always scary when you start using a new Website when you are a Breeder, because you start get hit quickly with scammers! NOT with Gooddog!
Gooddog is exceptional with its user friendly website! Customer Service is just phenomenal, anytime you need anything, they respond quickly! Payments from New Puppy Parents are processed rapidly! I LOVE Gooddog because you can place puppies in New Homes very quickly! Definitely 5 STARS!
I chose Gooddog because I wasn't getting applicants on any other Website. So I thought I would try it also, couldn't hurt...
Results was astounding, placed puppies quickly.
I was extremely nervous running payments through Gooddog, but reached out to other Breeders to make sure Gooddog was legit and I'd get my payments!
Extremely happy with Gooddog!
Salata Golden Retreivers asked for a deposit before puppies birth, which we did. The mother died within 24 hours of giving birth. I discussed the effects this can have on a puppy and it's adulthood and respectfully explained we no longer would like one from that litter. She will not refund us or give us a puppy from another litter, not that we would like one from her at this point. She said "you've already been on 2 waitlists and now you're going to another so you're not fit for our dogs"
I've been on one waitlist prior to committing to her puppy, and that waitlist was going to take a year or two to get a puppy. Of course we wanted one sooner:(
She has been very unkind. I'm about as fit for a dog as someone can be.
Because you talk about your strict breeding qualifications for using the website, it gained our attention while searching for a reputable breeder.
Hi Jenny,
Thank you for sharing your concerns with us.
At Good Dog we work hard to support both our breeders and future puppy owners. We aim for everyone involved to have a wonderful experience, and are sorry that your situation is so complicated and disappointing.
We would love to help you work towards a resolution with Salata Golden Retrievers. Please reach out at help@gooddog.com, or by phone at 855-446-6336 so we further assist you. Thank you!
Warmly,
The Good Dog Team
I have been in contact with one of Good Dog Breeders in Crystal; Florida for dauchshund and have had conflicting information. Overall experience has been awful. I still haven't been able to talk with the breeder by phone. I requested that I come by in person and make my deposit and see the puppies I was buying., no response. The only contact was by email and request for payment. I felt uncomfortable and made me feel like this was a scam. I am very upset that I wasn't able to get my fur babbies.
Hi Mary,
We are so sorry to hear that you did not have a great experience, but we're so happy we were able to connect with you on the phone October 15. Please feel free to reach out via email at help@gooddog.com or to give us a call at 855.446.6336 if there is anything else we can do for you in the future!

We have been successful so far in contacting people to connect them with our puppies.
Initially your format was a bit confusing but it is working now and people are contacting us.
My wife found you online and all seemed reputable so she signed us up. It is becoming a big help to us.
You won't believe the astonishing experience I had when I initially contacted a breeder five months prior to the adoption date. Everything seemed to be going well, and the breeder was incredibly polite. The price advertised on their website was $800, which I considered quite reasonable, especially compared to the higher prices of show dogs. However, my excitement turned to disappointment when, after placing a deposit and selecting our puppy, I discovered that the new price had skyrocketed to a staggering $1500! To make matters worse, this increase was never communicated to us during the entire puppy purchasing process. Given our financial constraints, my wife and I reluctantly decided to withdraw from the purchase. This was particularly heart-wrenching for my wife, especially considering that the breeder promptly altered the pricing information on the website just moments after I raised the inconsistency.
What made the situation even more absurd was the fact that we were not offered a refund, despite providing substantial evidence in the form of time-stamped screenshots taken the day before. It is truly disheartening to realize how unprofessional the Good Dog website has been in handling this matter. The breeders appear to be poorly vetted, and in our specific case, they exhibited rude and condescending behavior. Potential puppy seekers BEWARE!
Hi Jason,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re glad that our team was able to communicate with you over the past few days, as well as reach out to the breeder on your behalf.
As the team shared with you, this breeder does have a deposit policy that is non-refundable, which is clearly labeled. Each breeder sets their own individual deposit policies with buyers, especially around whether a deposit is refundable or non-refundable. We encourage puppy buyers to choose a breeder whose policies align with what they feel most comfortable with, because we do honor the policies that a breeder and buyer agree to.
We hope this helps answer your questions related to the non-refundable deposit you completed. Please feel free to reach out to us if there is anything we can do to help or if you have any questions or concerns.
Cherish and her family were wonderful to work with. We found them on Good Dog. Our puppy was very socialized, healthy and is an absolute joy. They go above and beyond. I would recommend them anytime.
Good Dog has repeatedly demanded deadlines that were before health testing appointments. No real person responds so my emails. No real person from Good Dog has ever spoken to me about my breeding program even though their email response on the web said they did. Good Dog is located in New York City and has six investors (!) and those investors are going to get their money somehow. I personally do not believe it is a dog gone good idea to make puppy sales a corporate enterprise and I refuse to participate. I'm sick and tired of people running businesses by instilling unnecessary fear into others and then profiting off the solution. I have been doing this a long time and the problems are very few and far between. Simply put, do not buy puppies from people who can not give you proof. Cash sales are not a problem...some people don't like on line pay companies. Sales tax on puppies sales should be collected and sent in by the seller where applicable. And, I have never had a private check bounce when selling puppies. Best wishes everyone and I hope you find the puppy of your dreams and that it brings you many years of joy.
Hi Laura,
We’re glad that members of our team were already able to communicate with you via email over the past few days regarding our Code of Ethics and Standards, and how our screening process may apply to an individual breeding program.
As previously mentioned, whenever we have questions about whether a breeding program is in compliance with our Breeder Code of Ethics and Community Standards, we conduct an independent investigation, which may include an examination of all evidence submitted, review of any publicly available materials, discussions with any relevant third parties (including vets, co-breeders, past buyers, etc.), and a discussion with the breeder.
We hope this helps answer any remaining questions you have. If anything changes with your program, we would love to have you rejoin our community in the future. We continue to wish you all the best with your program.

This site is very good in finding good breeders and wellbred dogs, but why I had to take off 2 points is because they allow out of standard colors which is not good because they aren't healthy and not purebreds. Otherwise it's a good site!
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us Cindy!
Our goal at Good Dog is to be a place for the public to learn about all types of dogs and all breeds and find the right dog for them. We hope that by providing education we can help applicants make an informed decision about which dog is right for them and help connect them directly with a responsible source.
All programs on Good Dog, including those programs that include non-standard dogs, must pass our Screening process and meet our Community Standards and adhere to our Code of Ethics. We developed our Screening process & Community Standards with our advisors, partners, and breed-specific relevant experts to prioritize health testing requirements applicable to each program in our community.

Hi Bianka! Thank you so much for sharing your feedback and being a member of our Good Breeder community! We're so glad that Good Dog has had such a positive impact on your breeding program :)
Good website, but it would be nice to if every breeder included the same information, such as weight and heigth of the parents and specifics of testing, Genetics and OFA scores instead of a generic message
Found it online
