I used to love Groupon. Recently, their customer service has gone way downhill. I have had problems with my last two purchases were the vendor has refused to except services. One of the vendors canceled several appointments. I asked Groupon for a refund and they refused.
I'm staying away from ideeli. I had the same problem with ideeli as far as dress size. I bought and returned a dress 2 times because each time the dress fit giant on me. I received store credit twice, and lost money on shipping and handling each time. So I finally on 10/6/2010 bought a blazer/sweater, that also fit large on me, but I kept it because I didn't want to waste any more shipping money with ideeli.
I spent a total of $30 in shipping costs (for the returned items and the new sweater), for one large ugly sweater that cost $36. So it would have been better for me to buy the ugly sweater at retail price at a regular store in town, I would have tried it on and found out that it looks terrible on me.
In summary, it ended up costing me $66 to try on clothes from ideeli that in the end didn't work out for me. I kept the big ugly blazer because it was smarter to keep it than to whittle down my store credit further.
I have been using Groupon for quite a few years. Mostly for dining but have bought other goods too. For the most part they have great customer service if you have a problem with one of the merchants. The deals are pretty good but with the dining I have noticed the value is slipping. It used to be 50% off and that amount is getting shaved down a little bit. Most are now packaged as dinner for two which can be a little hard if your single. As for the merchandise, just know what you are buying and be price conscious.
I purchased a Groupon Local deal for a relative for Christmas. I then discovered that he was physically unable to participate in the activity that I had purchased for him. Now I'm being told that Groupon just keeps the $88 I paid for the deal & won't refund any of it, even though no one will use the item I purchased. That sounds like fraud to me.
Purchased an item for $250 and when I tried to use it, it turned out to be a piece of junk. I returned the item the next day. Few days later, I received an email that they had received my item and processing the refund and that I should receive my refund within 2-3 weeks, but most likely "faster". It has been over a month and I received no refund and no correspondance on when I can see my money back. I emailed them twice and all I got was a response from a Groupon Robot ( I kid you not, that's the signature) that they would contact me soon. Frustrated I dug out a well-hidden phone number for their customer service and decided to call them. I have been on hold for the last 60 mins ( no joke) as I am writing this and they are not picking up, just playing some annoying music. As soon as I get this return resolved I am cancelling my account with groupon.
I ordered a necklace from ideeli on 9/18/12. Received the item on 9/21/12 broken in half. Completely damaged. I contacted ideeli via *******@ideeli.com on 9/21/12 providing details regarding the damaged necklace. Ideeli sends an auto response stating the following: "Your question has been received. At ideeli, we pledge to respond to your issue or question within 24 hours. We’re proud that our typical customer service response time is under 4 business hours, so you can expect to hear from us within the same day." Ideeli claims they have business hours M-F and Sat. To date,(9/24/2012) I have not received a response. This company has very poor customer service. I will wait one more day for a response. If no response is received, I will have to take further action.
I'm assuming Groupon purchased ideeli to be rid of competition... not a smart move for 45mil. I'll just shop Hautelook/Nordstrom Rack, and Amazon fashions. The items on Groupon don't compare to what was offered by the company ideeli. The same items are offered of the other two sites, plus more Goodbye Groupon/ideel
I've been back and forth with supposedly their customer service dpt to get a refund or even a credit for a service that I couldn't use; and the merchant wrote an e-mail per Groupon request stating that I never used their services; however they are still dragging their feet to provide me with a refund. It's so frustrating going back and forth with the same info as they don't seem to know what they are doing. Never again I'm using Groupon!
Groupon and there merchants are fraudulent and scam artists. They will take your money and you will not receive your merchandise. Buyer beware! Do not do business with Groupon or you will regret it. You have been warned!
Echo the other reviews. The businesses groupon represents get scammed as well so be prepared to get dirty looks when trying to use a coupon.
Horrible customer service. Instead of the customer always being right it's blame the customer for everything.
Complete waste of time and money. Buyer beware!
Answer: Yes, Groupon is legit. You need to read the fine print before ordering live event tickets- -they will not refund your money even if it's there fault. I only buy tickets for activities that don't expire or you can use the purchase price towards a non-Groupon service the vendor offers. Hope this helps.
Answer: Yes, report it but using social media is a very effective way to get a companies attention. Spread the word, Groupon does not honor returns!
Answer: I usually call the merchants I am interested in before buying the coupons, and ask them if the groupon coupons work, and how much more I have to pay. You could do the same, contact the merchants you are interested in and ask them how groupon works for them?
Answer: Groupon usually sends a tracking # via email If not do as the other people suggested, check My Groupons
Answer: I wish I could say why, but a solution might be to contact Call Curtis, or your local News station that helps with consumer issues. They always seem to get fast resolutions, because companies hate BAD TV PUBLICITY.
Answer: I personally do not trust groupon. The question previous to yours printed on this site should answer your question as to its reliaiblity
Answer: The one I took by Holly and Hugo at least were I would research the company before buying. Also about twice a year they put all their courses for $5! I got mine completed it and it helped boost my resume and I was able to get a vet assistant job pretty quickly compared to before where I only got a call back from about one place which didn't lead anywhere. :) hope I could help!
Answer: Well, it's not Ideeli anymore... it's been Ideel for about a year now I think. Yes, there is a customer support phone number. I've had nothing but good experiences from Ideel in all regards - product satisfaction, price, shipping, etc. - but I've never had to contact customer service so I don't know what you'll get, but they're phone number is (888) 835-1719.
Answer: They are the absolute worst about answering customer service complaints. They will lie, they literally told me customer service reps were out sick, thus no answer to my emails for about 2 weeks. But, don't loose hope, the DAY I posted a review on this site, they answered AND gave me a 25.00 credit for my trouble. So write a review on Site Jabber with all the details and a bet a manager will answer promptly. As this is their way, I NEVER ordered from the site again after at least 3 years of orders. Good Luck and don't leave a sordid detail out of your complaint.
Groupon has a rating of 1.6 stars from 4,834 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Groupon most frequently mention customer service, credit card and fine print. Groupon ranks 250th among Daily Deals sites.
Hi M L.,
