“Fees increase after delivery”

Check your receipts. Past month Grubhub has been increasing service fee after order delivered when charge posts to account. Food price, tax and tip stay same, but their service fee increases. For example when orders placed fee $4. Final charge then $4.80. How is this not illegal? Beware!

Somebody opened a grubhub account in my name. Using my email and phone number. When I "Tried" to contact Grubhub by phone to report this fraud. IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTACT ANYONE. I was on the phone trying to contact Grubhub for over 2 hours. 5 TIMES I WAS THROWN OFF THE PHONE FOR WAITING SOMETIMES 1/2 HOUR. I AM NOW RIGHT NOW WAITING AGAIN BY MY PHONE. Almost 1 hour with No answer. Trying to email is also impossible. WHAT A HORRIBLE DISFUNCTION COMPANY. WHICH I WILL NEVER USE!

If I could give zero stars, I would. Driver blazed right by my front door, got lost, called me and wanted to know where I was, I tried to give him instructions, he argued with me, told me he was at the right place because "I'm where GPS told me to go", I told him to forget GPS and tried to give him directions, he argued with me saying he was at the right place, then cut me off. Saw him go blazing by in the other direction and disappeared. I then found a message that he had "delivered" my order. Obviously trying to $#*! me. NEVER AFAIN, GRUBHUB SUCKS

I have had countless problems with the third party restaurant never getting my order. It was annoying, but nothing a a simple phone call and retelling the order would not fix. However today I reached my final straw. I tried to place an order from a pizza place I order from weekly. Never had any problems. As I tried to place the order it kept saying that it could not go through and the credit car to not be processed, try back in a few minutes. Fine, annoying but whatever. I canceled the order and moved on. However I checked my online banking information and the cost of the order was taken. I talked with two employees, and the the manager Brian, who kept saying the amount was on hold, as per company policy, and would be back in 24 hours, and to call my bank to get the funds released. I called the bank and they said they could not release the funds as they were not on hold, Grub Hub had taken my money. I called back and Brian and company insisted that the funds were just on hold. This is ridiculous. The order was for nearly $50.00. That no one at Grub Hub can tell me were it is, yet they are the name under where the money went. Any time there is a problem, it is never their fault. It is always a third party. DO NOT USE! If there is a problem they will say that they want to help, but will blame everyone for the issue, even when their name is on the problem. Waste of time and a waste of money. DO NOT USE!

I've now ordered five times through Grubhub and only had one order delivered...2 hours late! I cannot believe how bad this company sucks at what they are supposed to do!

Ruth's Chris steakhouse, ordered dinner for a family member (out of town) grub hub cancelled one hour before it was due. Never again will I use your service. First and last.

I had to order from Grubhub a few times before learning it's never a good idea. One time it told me my order was confirmed and that they were making it, but the restaurant was PERMANENTLY CLOSED! It wasn't until 30 minutes after my expected delivery time with no update that I called the restaurant and went on Google to realize it wasn't even open.

Another time I was sick at home and ordered food from a restaurant 5 minutes away from my house. It took almost two hours to get my food because the driver would drive 20 min to the restaurant, sit there for 5 minutes, and then cancel. This happened over and over with 3 different drivers until finally the last one actually stuck around and didn't cancel on me. Why were they cancelling? I don't know. GrubHub customer service couldn't give me an answer. They did give me a $15 coupon but it expired in just a month. I didn't even use it.

GrubHub tends to be the least expensive option when compared to DoorDash, Uber Eats, Seamless, etc. But I PROMISE the few dollars you're saving are NEVER worth the inconvenience.

I just had the worst experience with Grubhub. Ordered from Vitality Bowls in Denver, fantastic place, and an hour after my order was placed and confirmed with Grubhub through email I received a call from Vitality saying they had tried Grubhub three times over the phone and there was still not a driver assigned to our order. ONE FULL HOUR later, there is not a driver assigned. This is your business model, Grubhub, literally, this is what you do... assign drivers to online food orders to make your customers' lives easier and to bring business to local restaurants. I then choose to call Grubhub and after waiting on hold for 32 minutes, we drove to Vitality Bowls to pick up our order which they graciously remade for us. In the process they recommended we only use UberEats as this was the second identical instance they had with Grubhub within the last week where a driver was not assigned. I never had a representative come back on the phone from Grubhub, giving up. I have lived in NYC and used Seamless with fantastic results. I have used Grubhub many times in Denver, and while never measuring up to Seamless, it did the trick... until now. Grubhub, you and your lack of customer service have lost a customer, and have gained a dissenter to every person and business I speak with that deals with delivery and takeout.

I ordered dinner from grub hub tonight and the driver picked it up at 4:27 pm. The driver them proceeded to drive 15 minutes in the wrong direction and park in a neighborhood for well over 10 minutes. I called grub hub and cancelled my order because by this time it was past the delivery time and was still at least 15-20 minutes away. Grub hub happily cancelled the order but about 30 minutes later the driver CAME TO MY HOUSE, parked down the street so i wouldn't see a car outside and then rang my door bell 5 times in a row just so he could argue with me and try to get me to accept the order and to tell me that he was only "a few minutes late" even though by this time he was well over an hour late. We reported this incident to grubhub and were basically told "sorry for the inconvenience". This was not just an "inconvenience" this was DANGEROUS. Your disgruntled employees should never be permitted to psychically go to a customers house to argue with them after an order has been cancelled. This is a violation of personal space.

I liked that Grubhub had continued to expand their offerings, but when they faced an issue that originated with the restaurant, they failed to make it right in any meaningful way.
Want to order for family movie night? How would you like it if the food arrived and while all of the desserts were there, only 1 out of 3 dinners was there? Then when you call the restaurant, they say it will be 10 minutes and they'll have the rest of the food ready - and then 30 minutes passes and the food still isn't there? Then you call the restaurant and they say that they're just waiting on the driver - who they've not been able to contact?
This was a mess and then after 20 minutes on the phone with both the restaurant and GrubHub, they best that they would do was to refund the food that my son and I hadn't received and never would. This isn't a hardware store - you aren't simply paying for materials - you're paying for a delivery/ dining experience and the whole thing was ruined with two of us left hungry and disappointed.
When I had requested a supervisor that could do better, the call was disconnected upon transfer. I've deleted the app.

When you're not directly responsible for anything your business actually does, what pressure do you have to do anything well? GrubHub is a shining example of this, being easily the least reliable, most commonly refunded delivery app I have used. Restaurants would do well to consider using any other delivery methods available considering how may times they've gotten ripped by this website, too, as I know people who flippantly use it to get refunds when the issues they experienced were not significant enough to warrant this.

I hadn't personally used Grubhub in about a year and they new it because they emailed me a $15 off coupon. I felt lazy today and clicked the link, which told me it would apply at checkout. I put in my order and was at a page with my total that once again said it would apply the coupon at checkout. I clicked checkout and wouldn't you know it didn't apply the coupon! I immediately cancelled my order as their system does not allow you to retroactively apply coupons (ridiculously absurd in this context) and decided I'd just get takeout from the restaurant myself. This saves me money even if the coupon had worked and the restaurant will get all the money rather than having a third party leech their profits.

Absolute joke of an app and company but when you aren't obligated to be anything more than that and you're making bank why try harder? Safe to assume they never will.

Odd additional note but apparently their order history doesn't go back much more than a year! Would love to see and show the massive amount of refunds I got in 2020 but perhaps they're hiding their shame.

Tip for consumers:
The one thing Grubhub does "well" is refunds. If you want to risk spending some money on delivery to see if it's messed up enough (frequently this is the case) to get a refund this is the app for you lol

Products used:
Delivery most of the time. I did pick up through Grubhub once with a coupon but I think I would've saved more money just calling my order in.

I have been trying to get food from ordered through them since 1:00pm this afternoon. After 20 minutes of waiting for one order, it was just cancelled and when I went back to place the 2nd order, I forgot to change the address and they now say they cant even deliver it to me! If it wasnt for the fact of the screw up from the first order, I would have never had to place another order in a rush due to my lunch break being over soon and I would have made sure everything was correct! Over an hour, my lunch break is over and NOTHING AS FAR AS CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THEM! I WILL NEVER USE THEIR SERVICES AGAIN

TBH, i only use yelp24 if and only if im craving for something that isnt on ubereats, amazon, grubhub, etc. ---Northern VA

1st, it takes 1.5-2hours + for the food and it almost ALWAYS comes cold
2nd, high minimum orders, some are $75 and more
3rd, delivery fee (ok thats fine), convenience fee (what is this?), and tip
And finally, it's almost always... it's missing something.

Also, be ware that delivery times change CONSTANTLY, it'll tell you at beginning that it will take 1hr or so, and if you refresh later on, it will give you a different time.

However. If you're lucky. And found a restaurant that does their own delivery. It's generally faster. And better service. Otherwise when it's third party etc. be careful.

I tried Grub Hub tonight for the first time. Total Fail!
I ordered my food on Boonie's website at 7:15pm to be delived at 8:30pm. Got a text at 8:30 that my order was delayed. Now 9:00. At 9:00pm got a text that it would be 9:40. Got text at 9:45pm that the order was cancelled.
Called the restaurant, my order was still sitting there. The driver cancelled my order! I could go pick it up but would have to pay again. (Since restaurant gets paid by the driver) Will never ever use GrubHub again!
And 5-7 days to get my money back.
Now Pissed and Starving...

Don't trust the ratings in the app for the restaurants. It doesn't give the customers an option to make their own review it just creates its own statical rating based of the numbers from GrubHub. For example, I ordered my food at 11:16am (a cheeseburger and fries from Five Guys) I was quoted an estimated delivery time of 12:00 to 12:10. As time went on, I checked the status of my order and noticed my ETA was increasingly getting longer and longer. I did not receive my order until 1:15pm. GrubHub will mark my order as arrived on time since they were constantly changing my ETA. Changing the ETA is one thing, but increasing it by an hour and not receiving for two hours after ordering and then not even giving the customer the chance to review is just manipulative.

When I contacted customer service the second time about my order, he was quick to offer me 20% off my next order but did it in a very rushed way as if I was just a number on a task list. Not even showing any kind empathy considering I had to wait two hours for my food.

I had mistakenly thought that late deliveries were most frequently the fault of restaurants giving unrealistic times or misplacing my order in a stack of others. However, I just learned that the restaurant I ordered from (and had several poor reviews for delivery time) had the food ready for delivery 30 minutes after the order was placed. The GrubHub driver would not be able to pick up the order for an hour and a half after it was ready. If I hadn't called the restaurant, I would have blamed it on them, when really it was poor organization of GrubHub. Cancelling the order only hurt the restaurant, but getting delivery of cold food and a melted shake could have led to an unwarranted poor review on an otherwise good establishment. They need to either ensure an adequate delivery force, adjust times to be realistic, or find a different approach to delivery. While I have never written a poor review on seamless/GrubHub, I have used other reviews as reasons not to order from places because of lateness/cold food... now I have to reassess it all.

Listen GrubHub, you are losing loyal customers. I've been using you all for the past 3 years. I never had an issue until my last 4 orders. 3 of the drivers were combative with me over the phone as I was patiently giving them directions and then would inevitably like children hang up on me. To be fair, you all rectified the situation every time. But my order tonight was my last straw. I had an hour wait time on a fast food order with a restaurant 5 minutes away with a good size tip. No driver was picking it up until the ETA window and finally someone came on but they didn't go immediately to pick up my order. The were delivering other orders. 25 minutes later, they went to pick up my now 1.5 hr old order and still went in the opposite direction of my home, I assume to deliver some more?! My goodness, you all have THE worst drivers, ever. Tonight, like I said earlier, was my last straw. I can't handle the unprofessionalism, tardiness, and just complete lack of understanding that you all are providing a service: to pick up food from point A and deliver to point B. That's it. There shouldn't be any more things in between. I cannot deal with this company any more. It's truly NOT worth the headache ontop of the wallet rape that goes on. Bye, bye grub hub. We are breaking up for good.

I waited AN HOUR AND A HALF for my food and finally called to find out what was going on and they told me the restaurant's tablet was not working and they weren't getting orders, so they basically blamed it on the restaurant! I spoke to restaurant (who I believe as I have ordered from them several times before) and they said they had cancelled working with them long ago and Eat24 still had not cancelled their account online. I told them they better figure it out somehow because Eat245 is blaming them and making THEM look bad. Eat24 did not care AT ALL. Didn't even apologize (genuinely anyway). They were like ok well we'll process your refund. As if that feeds my family and I or even makes up for the inconvenience! I am HANGRY and I will also 100% NEVER USE EAT24 EVER AGAIN! Why would I when so many other delivery services exist that ACTUALLY HAVE CUSTOMER SERVICE?! Save yourself the trouble and ORDER FROM SOMEWHERE ANYWHERE ELSE!

First time using GrubHub. I usually use door dash but I used GrubHub because KFC doesn't use door dash... I ordered around 4:30 pm and I never received my food. Will not recommend grub hub to anyone

Order was late, completely wrong. Completely wrong entrees AND missing items. The driver. Umm not healthy we will say. Called and said "I'm *** and I'm on my way with your food." Took him 30 minutes to drive 1.5 miles apparently at 11:30 at night with no traffic. Husband drove the food back to Applebees (took my husband literally 3 minutes). The guy that packed the food at Applebees was argumentative. The manager, however, was great and we actually felt bad for him. Clearly GrubHub is a huge problem for them and they are losing money hand over fist because of this shady company. Grub Hub... said they would "figure out" (when I said we were just returning the food their driver wouldn't) "if they were going to do anything for us." Not kidding. Quote. She put me on indefinite hold, hung up and never called back. So, they kept our $11 bucks for their service and we didn't demand a refund from Applebees because the manager tried real hard to make it right and clearly has suffered tremendous losses because of this sham company. This was my second and final try with GrubHub and companies like them. Yes, the first time was a disaster too as they sold us food for a restaurant that was closed for business.
