So I needed to cop a new guitar cuz my old one was all busted and stuff, you know how it be. Anywayz, I headeded to Guitar Center and damn they got mad optons yo! I ended up grabin' this sick Fender Strat and it's like butter bro, sooo smooth to play. The guys at Guitar Center was mad chill and hooked it up wit a discount too which was flame. No cap, they know they stuff and helped me get exactly what I needed. Solid expireance overall, deffly reccomend Guitar Center if u need any music gear frfr. Aight peace!
Once again, I was scammed by this company and left holding the bag. This time, with a mesa amplifier. The item started malfunction ing right after the "return window". Shocker. It kept getting worse, guitar center refuses any connection to it, and refuses to address this issue in any way other than "should have paid hundreds for our pro coverage." Avoid these people. Sweetwater always honors their deals, and always goes above and beyond to make sure the customer is taken care of. Go through them instead. I have had guitar center clsoe my account, and remove all data from their back end. Scammers till the end as per usual.
Guitar center is BULL$#*!... I bought 2 items WITH CASH and both of those items did not work... I was given 2 separate checks as a refund... I PAID CASH! And I was given 2 CHECKS! Checks cost money to cash $7 a check! Nowhere on this receipt does it say that refunds will be given in the form of a check... I called the "corporate office" which is not the corporate office it's the. Com... screening the calls for corporate! The only resolution this company has come up with is to call the store and have them write me 1 check! I PAID CASH! So now you want to have me drive all the way back to your store wasting gas and time and more money both ways to get 1 check WHEN I PAID CASH! Everyone that I spoke to in the process has had an idgf attitude and a bunch of huffs n puffs n smart $#*! remarks... Do not buy anything from guitar center... spend your money somewhere it's deserved!
DO NOT BUY "PRO COVERAGE" AT GUITAR CENTER! Asurion handles Guitar Center's "Pro Coverage" on my son's saxophone. We have been trying since August to get Asurion to send a simple shipping label, so we can have a key repaired. I am nor sure whether this is the fifth or sixth time they have promised to generate and send one, but they have failed again, and this is going nowhere fast. I have been given conflicting information about whether a box will or even must be sent with the shipping label, whether I must go to UPS and let them box it, whether I can bring the saxophone to Guitar Center and have them ship it, and probably a couple of other things in what has proven to be a two-month long smokescreen either on their incompetence or their unwillingness to solve the problems that will allow them to perform the service they are in business to perform.
I went in there to return a cymbal and I was laugh at asked if I was a cymbal maker as cymbal was missing deep hammer strikes I buy two or three of the same cymbal. The employee asked to hold on As he went to the back to convince his boss with reasons to tell me to kick rocks. When he came out he asked me to wait wait to be told no. And was mumbling under his breath I called him a coward he then got in my face pointed to the front door and told me let's take this outside I call me grab my cymbal and I told him I'll be outside As I tied my shoe laces and got ready for good fight He picks up a giant rock and threatens to throw it at me no different as if He pulled out a gun or a knife on me had I did that I would've been in prison for years. I went to go buy me a guitar string during the day on Saturday with my mom and I get attacked and screamed at that I am threaten their employees I said I'm not a mother$#*!er that threatens to hit you I'm the mother$#*!er that walks up and hits you

GC is the industry giant for music equipment, but they treat their customers with wonderful care. Thier selection of used gear allows one to use ebay less with less hassle.
Ordered online 5/17 - undelivered till today 5/27.
All the 'support' they can offer is that I wait ANOTHER TEN DAYS for UPS to investigate before they even consider a refund. It's like $76 is going to leave them bankrupt given they refuse to acknowledge an obviously lost package shipped via UPS.

I have purchased thousands of dollars worth of equipment from Guitar Center over the years - but this online shopping with no means of a refund when the package shipped is obviously lost by UPS, is ridiculous !
I was at the store just a day before Christmas to get some info about guitar. Jeremey, the store manager, was very knowledgable and patient so I could get my guitar, insurance and lesson package from him. I had such a great experiance. Thank you Jeremey
I now have to wait up to a week to get my money back to go buy a guitar elsewhere because of their incompetence! UPDATE YOUR $#*!ING WEBSITE GC. I will never give them another dime after doing this to me. Online shopping? Stay away from GC, Musicians Friend and Music123. All owned by the same $#*!s. American Musical Supply and Zzounds are the only ones I'll ever go through again. Done with Guitar Center.
Purchased an order online only to find out that it was on backorder AFTER they accepted payment, immediately called and was assured by customer service that I would not be charged for the backordered item since it had not shipped. He was soooo helpful in helping me choose a new item which I paid for only to later find that I was charged for both items. I had specifically asked the rep if I had been charged I was assured I had not but upon questioning the double charge I was told that it was a "glitch" in the system and that I must wait up to 5 biz days for a refund. I'm quite sure my bank is not going to care! I will not purchase another item and will make it a point to post my experience on any and every review board I come in contact with! From the website to the shady customer service I suggest you do business elsewhere!
Guitar Center in Towson, MD - I came in to trade in one of my guitars. They tried tuning it and snapped the E string. They then came back to me and told me it would cost me $30 for a re-string or they wouldn't take it. Wtf? You literally broke the string and you want to charge me for it? Never returning to Guitar Center again.

You guys are horrible now! I've been a GC fan and shopper for over 15 years. I actually worked here back in the day. Service was always good. Seems since you guys went Bankrupt, service is now subpar. I've been sent used gear that was advertised as brand new. I was even told by a phone rep, the only way to guarantee I'd receive a new product was to order through him. I guess adding a new product to my online cart doesn't mean anything now! My other gripe is that I had an order that was never shipped, and it's been over a month now, and no one has even got back with me once to tell me the current status. I'm used to companies that'll take care of the customer first, then deal with UPS on the back end. Why am I waiting for a refund to something that you already have proof I've never received! I'm am through with you guys. Every rep I've dealt with has been very nice for the most part, too bad they work for a company with bad policies and no general sense of what good customer service is.

I previously purchased most of my equipment through guitar center. My last purchase was the Akai MPC One which I loved. But since anyone has yet to call me about my order that was never shipped, I decided to end all business with GC and take back my MPC. I repurchased through Zzounds.com, a much superior Company.
Ask a employee at guitar center to check on something over the phone forget it. They don't call you back, or give you the time of day. Hopefully they go bankrupt again. This time for good.

At the beginning of the 2015-2016 school year my grandson wanted to join beginner band and learn the clarinet. I ordered him the Student Clarinet Model ECL-100 Standard from guitarcenter.com, it seemed like a great deal as the list price was $399.00 and it was on sale for $159.00. At first everything seemed fine until my grandson had to learn the more complicated keys, it was at this point we found that some of the keys on the Student Clarinet Model ECL-100 Standard did not function. As I had purchased the clarinet new in September of 2015 and this was January of 2016, I was sure that guitar center would offer to repair or replace the clarinet. Boy was I ever wrong. They refused to do anything, sorry you can only return an instrument for the first 45 days. To add insult to injury, in an email to me, they admit that the Student Clarinet Model ECL-100 Standard is a cheap piece of rubbish but then offer to sell me a more expensive model at full price. Here is a quote from their email "these models do incur a bit of defects, due to their inexpensive build." I for one will never do business with Guitar Center again and I would highly recommend that everyone avoid this horrible company. On the bright side, I did find another company, Instrumental Savings, that offered a reasonably priced clarinet with a 3 year warranty included, unlike guitar centers 45 days.
The salespeople entered the order for me online and had the item shipped to the store. With everyone getting their stuff stolen off their porches this was a whole lot safer shipping method. TY- GC
Am in the market to buy a Martin HD-28/S28 or gibson hummingbird. See them hanging 3rd teir up locked up. All I need is a saleswman eager to make a sale let me compare. 1 hr later still no salesman in sight.
Come back a week later ask for help at the sales desk. 1/2 hour later noone in sight. On my way out the door I see a young employee kneeling at the fromt sales desk playing around with the stock. I ask for the floor manager. He is the floor manager playing around with some $2.00 merchandise not paying attention to anything happening on the floor. Doesn't care and clueless that someone wants to Purchase a $4,000 huitar and just needs help determining which one.
Guitar Center may think they are the only option but I will ne going to 2 other guitar stores to see who wants my $4,000. That's OK Guitar Center be happy with them $10 strings tou just sold and take solice in the fact your $2.00 merchandise is perfectly aligned on the rack.

Well, coming from a smaller city that only has one local music store, World of Music, which can jack up prices as they want since they don't have any competitors, I often take drives out to Cleveland for Guitar Center, especially since they have two. I usually go to the one in Mayfield Heights and because of the store I was able to really find my sound. The website is very well developed and I especially like their used items section. I find that their willingness to ship the item from one Guitar Center to another is great. I'm not sure how the process is actually because I've never needed to do that. If I was someone, instead of actually using the site to buy and ship stuff directly to your house, I'd save up some money and go down to the closest shop. The experience inside the store itself has so much more power. The only negative thing I've experience with Guitar Center were the reps. I know they're doing their job by trying to sell and make money but I often find their strategy tiredsome. Also I had a guy flat out lie to me about what would the best way of financing would be... which the way he suggested would have given me the amp sooner but would have paid Guitar Center an extra grand.
I went to my local store to purchase a mini-amp, which was listed online as "in stock" in the store was not actually in stock at all. No worries, a sales associated walked me through how to order on line. So I looked up my item and it's was "in stock ready to ship" at another location. So I ordered that, and an additional item while at it. Same days shipping was touted. So after 5 days I get an email that my order is ready. But surprise! It was only half my order. The mini-amp didn't ship. It took two online help chats and two phone calls over four days to get an answer. There was a delay. Why? No one knows. Three days later, no info, and I get an email, finally, to a question I sent support staff - the item was now being sourced from another store and would ship ASAP, at which time I'd be emailed. Two days pass, nothing. I reply to the email and now the item is "back ordered." Yet, online, the amp is STILL listed as "in stock ready to ship" so Guitar Center clearly could care less about the next poor customer with their hopes up. A day later I email again and an associate replies, we don't have it, but another store has it, and to get it, you need to cancel the order, and re-order through us to expedite. Are you still following me here? How can a business be this poor at delivering a product to a customer?! I'm dumbfounded at how inept the whole operation has been. I haven't decided if I'll roll the dice on re-ordering, but one thing is for sure, I will cancel the order. No business this terrible deserves a dime of my money, and it shouldn't be taking yours, either.
I visited the store in Seven Corners on May 10,2020, shortly before 1:00 pm. There was a staff member monitoring the front door, and he informed me that I could not enter the store until another customer departed. I acknowledged and waited outside the store. When two customers exited shortly thereafter, I was allowed to enter the store. However, before letting me through, the staff member asked me what type of guitar I was purchasing today, as I had mentioned in our earlier conversation that I wanted to look at some classical guitars. I indicated that I wanted to browse and try a few out. He then said that I would only be allowed to enter the store if I was going to buy a guitar. I then asked what would happen if I could not find any guitar that I liked, and he responded that I would have to order one. At that point, I left. If, in fact, this is the store's policy, I shall never shop at Guitar Center again, including their online website. While I understand the adjustments that must occur due to this national emergency, I cannot condone a store policy that mandates a purchase, even if a suitable product has not been found (nor tested, in the case of a required order). If this is the approach of Guitar Center, I would rather go farther and pay more than enter one of their stores again. I would have accepted a browsing time limit in order to accommodate the limited number of customers allowed in the store. I wrote this review on their website on May 10,2020, to give them an opportunity to respond or clarify, but I have not heard from them as of today, May 13,2020.
Drove 20 miles to the Hallandale FL. Store. Purchased a set of headphones and a Fender Mustang Micro guitar Amp from David a guitar salesman. The Mustang Micro is a little gadget that you plug into your guitar jack and use with headphones. Well I got home and opened the box and the instructions were torn open from the plastic bag and re-taped with someone's hair stuck in the scotch tape. It was missing the plastic cover on the gadget, the box was torn where you would remove the headphones jack adapter. I guess these salesmen kids opened this item, played with it in the store and put it back or it was a return. Either way it should of been taken out of inventory and not sold to me as being a new item. They basically tried to pawn it off on me and I don't appreciate it to say the least. I believe they tried to pull a fast one and apparently they can't be trusted at this Hallandale location. The manager at the Coconut Creek store took my return and was very helpful. I recommend to anybody who is going to shop at guitar center in the south Florida area that you drive the extra miles if necessary to the coconut creek store and avoid the unscrupulous ethics perpetrated by the individuals in employ at the Hallandale store. Image of my proof of purchase receipt has been included with this review.
Guitar Center like all good stores is admired by its strong points of business, but these good points are commonly outshined by its poor business choices. The store itself has a great variety of products such as, amps, drums, recording software, pianos, microphones, sheet music, various stringed instruments, etc. Guitar Center can meet practically any of your needs. They are not at a loss of various styles to fit your need or preference. They carry top brand names like Fender, Gibson, Epiphone, Music Man, Taylor, Yamaha, and many others. They have great low prices and almost always have promotional sales. Each month they choose a specific brand on sale. This is very convenient and helpful to customers.
However, their costumer's service leaves much for improvement. In order to get any help you have to be that annoying costumer. It regularly is shown that they do not know the product that they are selling and may not even know how to play or the proper use. They normally only have one person that truly knows what they are doing in the department. If that person is not there for whatever reason then, good luck getting any decent help.
I went in knowing what I needed, wanted. I called ahead. No wait, they directed me back to guitar area. Travel Guitar (came recommended by friend so could take on vacations to practice for upcoming gig)--Price was as mentioned on web site; case as well--not overbearing on trying to sell me something extra. I was in store for 10 minutes max.
Item is HIGHLY recommended --fits in overhead bin on airline and pocket of case large enough for tuner, capo, my miniVOX headphone / distortion/ amp and even a short cable if you want. Can play acoustic and fret board feels not a ton different from my Strat. Allows me to work on riffs from Cancun, Florida, wherever! Can plug in headphones and link to my mp3 and play along without disturbing others. I have even amped this little guy up and sounds pretty damn good. I've read others who actually gig with it? I don't think that's the best purpose as no eq /volume/ tone knobs, but for travel practice and taking up no space---awesome! Really helps when playing to have the little metal weight bar attachment for balance and easier if I stand when playing rather than sitting b/c of weight distribution. Has attachment for guitar straps. Highly recommend. Already did, actually, and another friend bought one and loves it, too.
EVERY TIME I buy something from Guitar Center, either on line at guitarcenter.com or at a retail store, I anticipate some kind of complication, and I'm usually right. I live in rural S. Indiana and the closest GC is about 100 km (60 "miles") away, so getting there is an event. I made the trip and purchased 2 acoustic guitars. I realized when I got home, one of them was supposed to include a free gig bag. I called the store and instead of seizing the opportunity for good cust service by dropping it in the mail for me, I was told the only way to get it is to return to the store, return the acoustic and re-buy it with the free gig bag promo. Well, at 5 bucks for a galloon of gas, we both knew that ain't gonna happen. So, congrats on your free gig bag, Guitar Center. You won. The online experience is the same anxiety causing experience. My most recent purchase was a ukulele from guitarcenter.com. I see the money has been debited from my account, but I've heard nothing from them for 2 days. Just an email that "We're working on your order..." In the day and age of email and notifications, no communication makes me nervous that my order has been screwed up somehow. I won't mention any names but there is another major online music retailer that provides a much SWEETER online shopping experience, IMHO. GC could clean up their act by scaling back their retail stores, hiring fewer douchy hipster employees (to be fair, I have had some positive experiences as well, but more not-so positives) and providing a better online shopping experience. I have more to say but I'm hungry and need to eat breakfast. :)

Bought three less expensive guitars from Guitar Center over last three years. One was mine and had no issues. The other two were my dad and sisters, both of which came needing extreme neck adjustment to be able to play guitar at all. Luckily I was able to do this on my sister guitar which was the most expensive out of these three. On the hand my fathers guitar which he was using to learn and didn't notice the buzzing on the lower half of the neck right away. After trying to adjust the neck(keep in mind I've made lots of guitar repairs and know what I'm doing would never bring a guitar in for this simple adjustment), But after trying to adjust it correctly it still does not work... Neck is completely lined up incorrectly same thing with sisters but could fix it. I believe guitar center stores their guitars very very poorly and will sell the floor model that hundred of people have touched instead of giving you a knew guitar if thats easier for them. This happened to me and i was notified after the guitar was in the mail on the way to my house. Theres supposed to be a discount for floor models. Basically sold something i didnt buy and it came broken. Awful experience with guitar center especially if you're a beginner guitarist. Order from Sweetwater insane how amazing their support is. You get a call when you place your order just to ask if you need help with any of the products. Absolutely outstanding service from Sweetwater. Awful corporate like inpersonal experience ordering from Guitar Center.

The Arlington store In Texas has the worst customer service ever. Leon the technician needs to learn how to treat customers and not be rude to them. Would never recommend this store to anyone.
I ordered 3200.00 worth of pa gear on musicians friend one speaker was damaged they sent something to help with it since it still worked then the other speaker smelt of burnt electronics so i vontacted them they told me to pick up a speaker at the nearest gutar center lucky i called it was a 2.6 hr drive then they told me to just pay for one they would send it out to meet my deadline and they would just have me send the other back and they would refund my money. Then i tried tracking it it said it had not shipped so i contacted them they said sorry it has not shipped due to a po box that was only used for billing now it wont be here on time and this is the last time i will work with them...THEY ARE HORRIBLE TO DEAL WITH.
