I had the best time cutting with Rory Sevajian at Solace Brewery a few weeks ago. We raised a ton of money to help children for Jill's House. God gave us a gift not only for us to profit from but to help others in need. We use our platform to make people's lives better and our communities stronger. We Killed it
I was charged for five months without my authorization because my REP did not complete the cancellation I requested. I spoke on chat and on the phone multiple times and was not compensated at all. I was told they had no previous knowledge of any of this. Finally they completed my cancellation, where I was told all my information would be deleted from the system. Which brings me to now 7 months later and I am charged again without any authorization whatsoever. Again I was told nothing could be done but it's completely fine to keep my personal information? It is blatantly clear there is no respect for the customers that keep the business alive and because of employee negligence, I am left to just pay the price. Extremely poor customer service. On top of all this my rep would not return my shears for months on end, ignore my messages and then my shears were so messed up I had to go with another company to fix them. Lifetime guarantee? Not in the slightest. STAY far far away!

You don't ship out $1000 + Shears in some BUBBLE WRAP. But they seem to think that's okay? Oh because they already done took our money & to add to this you still have to pay to get your shears sharpened? Ever heard of a BOX to make the shipping more secured? Poor customer service at its finest.
Tip for consumers:
Poor customer service
A truly remarkable shear. They give you the ability to slide cut like glass. They are balanced and have a nice weight to them. I would love to see some more videos of stylists using them to enhance hair color.
By far one of the best shears I've purchased, couldn't be happier! Best shear company around, much love for the amazing shears

I would never recommend Hanzo to anyone! It's a money grab. Their reps are terrible and have bad customer service. My shears have some rust on them. I paid monthly for the stay sharp program and could never get in touch with the rep to get them sharpened. Had to fight with them for a $14 refund meanwhile I've spent thousands on their crappy scissors
Love love this shears oh my god it's cuts like butter I have owned other shears from reputable companies but this one is the best cut so smooth I was dancing all around the salon when I cutting my client hair she wanted to know what happen to me then I had her cut piece of my hair with it she was amazed how smooth it was, she tipped me double the amount she normally does and thank me for using such quality shears on her
Tip for consumers:
Ordering online is fine, but having a local rep to order from and try is better. Call the office and see if there is a local rep near you.

This was one of the coolest websites to purchase from. I was planning on shopping for hair scissors online and I'd heard of Hanzos. When I saw you can "test drive" them I was sold. I hit the test drive button on the shears I wanted and was contacted within the same hour from one of the shear consultants. I was asked questions to help him determine what shears would work for me the best. I ended up trying out a few pairs and only had to put 10% of the total in a deposit, so he could ship me the shears to try. I liked one of the pairs and didn't like the other. I returned the other set and kept the ones I liked. The process was smooth and Jeff help out the entire way. 5 stars for hanzo scissors.
Hattori Hanzo stuck with all of our stylists when we were unable to work during covid. They did free online education none stop, they allow us to skip payments for the months we couldn't work, and they continued to be of service as best as they could during an unprecedented time in the world. I never review companies unless I have a complaint, but I felt the need in this instance, because the rating is in no way representative of what this brand does for our industry. I have had both poor reps represent the brand and really great reps. They do have the best shears in the industry, but even if they didn't their connection to the stylists and they way they give back is what really matters.

I have been using hanzo shears since 2014. In the 10 years prior to using hanzos I would purchase a new set of shears every year. Hanzo shears are the only shears I have ever been able to sharpen and they feel new again! The customer service/ sales reps are so helpful!
Tip for consumers:
Call to find your local sales rep! They will send off any shears to sharpen for you and leave you hanzo to use. They will let you test the shesrs to make sure you get what you need

I've been in the industry for a long time and decided to try out Honzo about a year ago and they are the worst shears I've purchased. The metal is soft and the mechanics wear down fast. You have to pay a monthly subscription of $13 for "insurance" I needed replacement shears and they refused to let me use my insurance and it took them 6 months to come out and sharpen my shears then it took another 2 for them to be delivered after sharpening. The loaner shears were so dull I couldn't work with them and the reps won't even come out to sharpen your shears unless they think they can sell you more. They are really aggressive in pushing you to purchase new shears constantly and if you have anything other then their shears they talk about them like they are trash. I finally got my shears back yesterday and had to pay $100 to cancel the subscription! Not worth it at all!
Tip for consumers:
Cheaply made, very expensive, bad customer service, large cancelation fee

I've always loved my hattori hanzo schears until our rep took my schears to get sharpened. A year later they charged me saying I took a loaner... which I never did. They dinged my credit card they had on file for over $500. I called and they told me they would look into it and get back to me and no one ever called back. I will never do business with them again. The same thing happened to my co worker.
I am a sharpener in the pittt area and just had a couple calls from my customers saying that a Mark from Honzo Shears said he was there to pick up shears to sharpen. When questioned he said that he was my assistant and the shears would be back in 2 weeks. New Low in doing business
The quality and craftsmanship of Hanzo Shears are unmatched. I've had mine for years, and they still cut like they're brand new. I recommend them to every stylist I meet. They're worth every penny.
I bought one pair of Hattori Hanzo shears. They are fine. They convinced me to sign up for a shear sharpening program for 1 year of unlimited sharpening. I sent out the hattori shears and two of my Sakura premium shears from Japan. They came back so dull and so tight I had to have them sent to my normal sharpening service to have them revived. I contacted by Hattori Hanzo rep John and explained what happened and ask him to cancel the account. He is great but it didn't happen. I also called the customer service line. They have not stopped harassing me sending phone calls all day about paying for services that were absolutely horrendous and I already paid for three months of the service as well as having to have my shears resharpened. The customer service representatives are so rude, they will not listen they just talk over you and demand money for terrible services. I have been getting phone calls repeatedly since 2020. I have spoken with them so many times, and they will not back down. I don't have time for their nonsense. Obviously the company itself is starving for money if they need that bad. I'm sorry, but I'm a single mom and a solo business owner, a hard worker, and I'm not paying in for services that I had to have redone from 3 years ago. I find it shambolic for a company to go on like this.
Tip for consumers:
I think Jonathan my rep is great, the quality of this year’s is great however, the sharpening program and the customer service behind it is shambolic.

As a product is supposed to be made to fit according to certain audiences demand, customer makes sure that the product he/she is buying should be of best quality keeping in a reasonable and affordable price range. I am a professional hair stylist and have been using different types of hair cutting shears for a long time now. I was shocked when I ordered a hair cutting shear from hattori hanzo which was for $600 and I was not fully satisfied with the quality of the steel used in a blade. The same shear is available in just $200 on iShears.com. I ordered and used it and guess what? The quality of that shear was so good that its been a year now, and my shear still cuts very fine and smooth. Havent had any complaint about the shear that I got from iShears.com
As I also conduct hair cutting workshops, I never recommend hattori hanzo shears to my students. I dont want them to waste their money for just practicing using shears. We use iShears in our workshops as its shears have extra sharp long-lasting cutting edges.

I've been working in the hair industry for 8 years. I've had about 3 hanzo reps and all of them were very nice, but I didn't always hear the best feedback from my co-workers. I've been using the same set of scissors my entire career and I've always felt like they did the job. I never could understand why someone would spend so much on their tools. Our current rep was a hairstylist for 15 years before she started working for hanzo, so I felt like I could be honest with her. "Seriously Kari! Why would anyone spend thousands of dollars on their scissors, when these ones do the job fine." She responded, "The tools you use are a representation of how you value yourself as a hairstylist. When you start to treat yourself the way you see yourself, your clients will pay you more, you will put out better haircuts, and most importantly your self esteem as a stylist will improve. The scissors do not make the stylist, but working with tools that match your ability will make you better!
So I decided to try a pair. WOW! I bought them 2 days later. Seriously do yourself a favor and get a pair of Hanzos.
Doing business with Hanzo couldn't have been smoother. Put 20% down and had my new shears delivered a week later.

My 20 years hand sharpening and restoring scissors, I have seen great scissors and not so great. When a stylist gives me their scissors to service I check them first to see how much work they need. I have seen counterfeit, I always reach out for scissor sample around the globe. Recently I ordered samples from a Chinese company, country of origin lasered was Germany. Point is they will mislabel per requests. I have many customers who purchased Hanzo scissors and paid a lot of money for a mid quality scissor. They're not worth the price, it's a sale created based on emotions. It's like a bad business college project. There are so many great, real Japanese and Korean brands that are worth their price. Hanzo doesn't fit in that category. They have taken down on line reviews and have pending litigation against them. Stay away is my professional experience. Hanzos based on quality should be sold under $399.00 Go look at Scissor Mall. They're in business since 1985. My mentor went on to create scissor sharpening education and certification. He totally agreed as well as my scissor suppliers and manufacturers. Hanzos at not the best choice.
I was told when i bought my HH-3 5.5 double swivel shears 5 years aho that they would have a life time warranty... about a year ago i started having issues with my shears doing scissor over comb. They started snagging and pinching the hair in between the blades alomg with the fact my swivel falls off constantly ( i shouldnt have to tighten that daily)... I called Hattori Hanzo about 6 months ago and told them what my issue was. They in return told me that my shears would probably need sharpened and said they wouldnt do anything for me about looking at what my issue was as if they could do nothing about it. So I sent my shears in, and lo and behold when I got them back they still weren't working right. I gave up after this, i had called the company and talked to someone there and talked to a representative who sells them locally to me. I had originally wanted to order some thinning shears from them but they don't seem to want to help me with my issue on the shears i already have... So i will never buy from them again. I will say they were amazing and they have no catch points, so when you flip them into your hand they don't scratch you anywhere and they aren't very comfortable... I just don't think that I would spend another $900-1200 on them again for the same result.
I filled out a form on the Hanzo website to speak to a rep about a "test drive" of a pair of blending shears. I have Mizutani Blacksmith's as my main cutting shear and I thought I'd try something new for blending as I've seen many barbers using them. I received my shears and instantly could tell that they are not very good quality. I even opted for the higher quality Japanese steel set. They are heavy, unbalanced and uncomfortable to hold. Their performance is OK but I still can't get over how low quality they feel to use. The rep failed to tell me that since I an ordering from Canada that I would not be able to return them if I did not like them after my "test drive" even thought I asked him over the phone 3x and once over text. He ignored my question and told me to watch the video on how to set the tension. THE TENSION IS NOT THE ISSUE. Do not listen to the stylists and barbers that are sponsored by them! They get their shears free and could care less if they suck! Clearly these people don't know high quality from garbage. I have tried contacting head office twice to discuss this issue as I do not want these shears and I don't want to be charged $1000 for them. I was told twice that a manager would call me back and they never did. I guess I'll have to wait on hold when I have the time to waste. Wish I had trusted my gut and not ordered from this bull$#*! American company! DON'T DO IT. BUY MIZUTANI THEY ARE TOP NOTCH and their customer service is even better.
Tip for consumers:
Rep forgot to add a sheath to my order. Which costs an extra $10 - muzutani includes sheath for shears that are $1000 - this company is bull$#*! and their shears are bull$#*!.

So the shear game is like the mafia, and people always try to talk bad about other shear companies then really good about the ones they represent. I actually went to the school from the person talking about Ishears and it was about getting my money more than education. Our school shears were the worst and the local hanzo rep was so amazing and not only hooked me up with a 4 shear set with an easy payment plan, BUT also networked me to find my mentor and salon that I still have been working in since out of school. Now they are paid off and I trashed my shears from said school owner and instructors (always instagram on their phone) and I probably have 10 other people I referred that have and love the hanzo culture and product. Best thing is to call Adam *******622 and ask him to get a class set up and bring in people like Cole Thomson (Vidal Sassoon,@popular_nobody John Mosley, Oscar Bond (NAHA winner)
Also I saw they were voted favorite shear 2017 from behind the chair, Justin Thomas, Hillbilly Barber ETC.
Pray you don't have a financial emergency because these people are like mob bosses expecting their payments.
