I was trying to pay my premium was getting no where with Ambetter my insurance through marketplace, I ask for a supervisor which was Janae Taylor, she went step by step, was very understanding and compassionate about my problem. My husband has cardiac issues and we're in the middle of procedures so I was in a Panic to get this straightened out. She was AWESOME! Kudos to Janae!' For outstanding job well done!

“Form 1095a”

Deb R.
3/8/24

My first year on MHS Ambetter and trying to do my 2023 taxes, I found out that I need to have a 1095a form, which I never received via mail or email. I can't even get on the Ambetter MHS website to print the form, because it sends me to the healthcare.gov website. When I do there, it only allows my to renew my 2024 application, can't look at my current application without an ID code, which I have no clue what that is. Can't even go to a "menu" to look for my 2023 forms. Now I'm on the phone with healthcare.gov, waiting to speak with someone. Go figure that the US government has to be this flipping difficult. I unfortunately retired early and needed to obtain insurance. What a huge JOKE! I hate this marketplace, Obamacare crap!

Writing this review in all honesty. I've had a health plan with marketplace for the past two years. When I re-enrolled for the current year, 2016, I recieved a letter shortly after enrollment saying additional documents were needed to verify I didn't have any other additional health coverage. It didn't specify which documents, who to inquire with, or any other information. I called more than five times and did not receive a return call. Then, I finally reached someone who told me I didn't need to send any additional documents and everything was up to date. A month later, I recieved another letter and was given the same speil. Two months later I recieved a third letter and this time when I called, the representitive told me I needed to contact the dhhr and get a verification letter sent in. When I explained that I had called in prior to talking to her, she stated there was nothing noted in my records that stated anything about me calling. I was also hit with a $30 increase that I'm still trying to work out. I'm the type of person who owns up to my mistakes but in this circumstance I do not feel like I did anything wrong and if anything, was given very poor service and lack of information. The quality of professionalism is not satusyfing at all and I wish I had multiple options being self employed because I would look elsewhere. If you are reading this and desire quality service, quality healthcare coverage, and affordable rates, I suggest doing research and comparing any and all options.

I bought my family health insurance through market place. First of all they sell you something which is not even worth paying. If you call their customer service for help they are rude. They don't want to help, all they need is your business. I WANTED TO CANCEL MY INSURACE BUT I COULDNOT BECUSE I HAVE TO PAY A PENALTY FOR CANCELING IT. I have to keep it for whole year that's the only way I can cancel it so now I have to pay my premium every month even tho I don't want to.
ALL I CAN SAY THEY R CHEAT, FROUD AND LIAR. Do not get health insurance through them.

Been calling for the last 5 nights after work and dealing with the lost ignorant and unprofessional and definitely the uneducated bunch of people. We been told our address is wrong, we been told we did not pay the bill, we been told we live in another state, we been told we never have had insurance.
We have had BCBS of Anthem for 16 years and never had a break in coverage. Actually went to the doctor today and which my insurance card was accepted and processed. They told me I have not had insurance since 2018... lol.

Really, I have had two major surgeries and tons of doctors visits. So since I don't have health insurance and to whoever paid all my medical bills I want to think you so much! Here I thought my insurance was paying... BEING SARCASTIC OF COURSE. The supervisor said she had to escalate the process so she could see what was going on with the 1095... she indicated I needed to maybe pay the states penalty if they asked me to pay it at tax time. Why would I pay a damn penalty for coverage I had and always had. This is the most horrible place to get insurance and don't expect them to truthfull about anything.,, THIS IS GOVERNMENT!

I found out in October that I was no longer able to get my employer medical coverage. I filled out the application at Healthcare.gov to see what was available. After filling out the entire application I was told I was not eligible because I still have coverage. The application asked if I had coverage until December 31. I answered yes but my coverage ended that day. I called up Customer service who treated me like a child. I stated that the application at NO time asked when my current coverage ends but only asked IF I had coverage until year end. "You don't know what you are doing" he kept telling me. After explaining 4 times the problem he said "Clearly you don't understand. I will walk you through and show you where you went wrong". After 30 minutes of his attempting to show me I was wrong, he apologized and stated that the application was programmed wrong and no longer seemed to have the same questions asking WHEN current coverage ended and when coverage was being requested for. He said, "WOW, no one will qualify for coverage how this is programmed!" Is this a simple programming error or a ploy to avoid new coverage? He did some work on his end and I received a new notice that I not only qualified for 2022 insurance plans but should qualify for the government discount. Without taking an additional hour of my time and refusing to accepting NO for an answer I would not have the pleasure of seeing plans starting at $1300 a month that cover virtually nothing and have ZERO providers within 60 minutes of my home! And this is supposed to be 'good coverage'. So much for making sure all Americans get medical treatment and coverage. If I were not a Citizen I would get better care for ZERO cost to me! Thanks...

Ignores request to take off call list. If a class action comes about suing them for harassment and violating solicitation laws, I'm on it.

Tip for consumers:
They call daily, multiple times a day inquiring about health insurance. The ignore requests to be removed from their call list.

I was browsing healthcare.gov plans through the marketplace and noticed a HUGE discrepancy. After you apply for coverage for 2020, in the section where you are able to enroll for a plan, there are many plans displayed to select. I noticed that the overview of the plans on the healthcare.gov website for some plans had a large red x next to Humira (the drug for my arthritis) meaning the plan did not cover the drug.

I noticed when I went into further detail and clicked on all of the PDF's of the plan especially in the covered drug pdf, it turns out that Humira was indeed covered through the plan. I called and spoke with a floor manager at the marketplace who said that the insurances are the ones who update the information so there is nothing that can be done.

PLEASE LOOK AT WHAT YOUR INSURANCE COVERS IN THE BENEFITS AND COVERED DRUG SECTION PDF DOCUMENTS AND DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THE HEALTHCARE.GOV WEBSITE SAYS, CHECK THAT YOUR DOCTORS ARE COVERED EVEN IF MARKETPLACE SAYS THEY ARE COVERED! DO NOT PAY MORE MONEY OR GET A LESS THAN IDEAL PLAN BECAUSE YOU DID NOT DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE AND THOUGHT SOMETHING WASNT COVERED WHEN IT WAS COVERED. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.

Everything about having a plan through the Marketplace has been difficult. Enrolling was difficult, getting the Marketplace information to connect with the insurance company was difficult (and took weeks to resolve), correcting the start date was difficult. I guess it only makes sense that getting my tax form is difficult too. I received an email saying it would be available by Jan 31st but I had not received it. I gave it an extra week or two because I thought it was in the mail. I finally called in Feb and they confirmed I did not have a 1095-A on file. They opened an escalation ticket and said that they have 45 days to respond. 45 days! That means I have to file a tax extension because it will not be resolved by the time taxes are due. I have called a dozen times asking for updates but I keep being told that they can't do anything until the 45 days has elapsed and that this is a "very busy time for them"...well yes, at what other point in the year would people be needing tax forms!?!? Sounds like they need to hire more people instead of take 45 days to resolve one issue. Don't ask to speak to a manager, or ask if you can file a complaint; that sort of thing simply doesn't exist. You are at their mercy and will pay the repercussions for their mistake. You have to call endlessly for updates. You have to file a tax extension and you have to wait extra time for your refund. It is very very frustrating. I will say that all 15 people I have spoken to have been very nice and I understand that their hands are tied. I am more annoyed with the process than anything else. It's ridiculous. Imagine me telling the Gov that it will be 45 days before I provide them with a response. Give me a break.

The Health Marketplace was a dream come true at first. But for the last 2 or 3 years, the quality of their consumer care has greatly declined. I called on December 2021 to renew my plan. The "agent" who answered my call assured me that the plan she was going to put me on was the same as the one prior yet would allow me to see my eye specialist as I have a serious case of glaucoma. So, when I received my new card I automatically called my doctor office to take an appointment. And, I was told that the plan I was on was not one they take! Then, I have some health issues so go to specialists. My copay for specialists is now 120 dollars instead of 20. I stopped seeing my chiropractor since now I have to pay 60 instead of 10. The worst part is that I have tried and tried to petition the marketplace explaining that I had been given false information by one of their own agents. At first, they would not even accept to take my petition. One hanged up on me. After weeks of calling, I finally get through a supervisor who understands and completely agrees I should be given the permission to change plans before the end of term. I just received a letter from Florida Blue stating that my petition has been denied and that they cancelled my membership altogether since I apparently asked them to do so. First, I never ever said such thing. Second, my health insurance and marketplace refuse to communicate and not surprising to me that it is a total mess. I am disgusted with this health care system. It is a shame. Many of my friends do not even have health insurance and I am now in the same situation. Market place also kept asking for documents that Were sent many times by my Florida Blue agent and myself. The marketplace kept asking for the documents and the last letter I received came after the letter from Florida Blue stating my membership had been cancelled. This is absolutely ridiculous. This is stupid. Such a waste of my and many others time and money… of course, someone in Florida Blue is getting richer and richer and I suspect that the marketplace has gone downhill since many want to see the plan to disappear. The system is broken and it is about time for a new reform. Health care is not a privilege. It is a human right.

Was meant to sign up in June of last year, the person setting it up set me up for July. I called, asked to backdate and was told "We can do that".
A few days later, still no insurance, so I call back.
"We've submitted an escalation, it can take 30 days to hear back."
"Can I use health insurance in June or not?"
"We won't know until July."
"Don't bother. I'll just wait. I'm not paying for something if I don't know I'll have it."
"OK"
Time passes...
Work insurance kicks in during August. Billing issue between Marketplace and BCBS costs me $250. I speak to multiple people who either pass me back and forward between MP or BCBS. Finally one person says "I can help, we've got you fixed up."
A few days later they call to amend that response with "We can't fix this."
$250 down the pan.
Time passes...
March 2022 arrives and I'm doing taxes.
"You owe money to the IRS for 4 months of Marketplace insurance last year."
"I had it for July and August?"
"Nope - June to September."
Call in - speak to 5 people, get to some complaints dept. at the Dept of Health.
"We adjusted your insurance from an end date of Sept to Jul, so you only have two months. Yay us!"
"Well, yes, but that's not going to work. I didn't use insurance in June because I didn't think I had it. I DID use it in August, so if you put my end date in July I might be billed for that at full rate. I didn't use any insurance and went without meds in June because you told me I wouldn't have it after the escalation was cancelled."
"Yeah, sorry about that. If you want to call a number to appeal, this is it: *******751."
*Calls number*
Fill out a form on the website...
So, I'm $250 out already, looking at an extra $300 in taxes, and potentially looking at getting billed $200 for not having insurance in August when I did have insurance in August, but now didn't.

My expectations of anything government run are usually very low, but these people are lowering the bar on a daily basis.

I called to let healthcare.gov that I was tenporaly laid off due to coronavirus, and told the agent I wasn't making my 35k a year anymore, the agent went and changed my plan without my concern. And from $140 a month it increased to $570 a month when. I asked the representative why did she make the change she said I asked for it, I asked her to please change it back and she said is too late, then I asked for a manager his name was Timothy the nastiest person you can talk to, he said the changes were done and that there was anything else possible to do, then he said he was going to reppet me for fraudulent info which I didnt have, I ended up being threaten by Timothy because I was upset over changes that were made without my consent, horrible service try to go through your local area DO NOT CALL THEM DIRECTLY

I live in Missouri which expanded medicaid in August 2021. As I figured out later on, the new rules say that if you have zero income in any given month that you are automatically eligible for medicaid during that month.

I applied through this website in mid September and said that I have zero monthly income. The website incorrectly said that I didn't qualify for medicaid and that I must purchase a plan through the marketplace if I wanted health insurance so I did and the cheapest plan was $350.

A month later which was almost two months after Missouri's new medicaid rules went into effect, this website notifies me that I'm eligible for medicaid backdated to September 1st because the new law was passed in August.

I called them and said that they need to refund the $350 for the plan I purchased because they incorrectly told me that I didn't qualify for medicaid when I first applied.

During this process, I figured out that their programmers dragged their feet on updating the website to reflect the new Missouri medicaid rules which was the source of the whole problem. The website was supposed to reflect the new rules on September 1st but they didn't update the website until October 1st.

Ten phone calls and countless hours later wasted talking to them on the phone, I finally found someone who wasn't totally clueless and they agreed that I got screwed over so they escalated it to their parent agency the Center for Medicaid Services.

A week later I get a letter from this agency telling me that they won't refund the money and refuse to explain their logic as to why. I tried calling and emailing them multiple times afterwards and they ignored my emails and voicemails (because they won't let you talk to a real person).

Then they had the audacity to send me an email a few days later telling to enroll in coverage for the upcoming new year and that "4 out of 5 people find a plan through the marketplace for an average of $10 a month" which is a total lie and scam.

In short, this website is ran by a bunch of low IQ government stooges with zero accountability who are largely out to steal your money and I advise great caution in trying to get health insurance through them.

Where do I begin...
When my wife and I first started with the Marketplace they asked us to send in about 8 documents between the two of us and upload them to the website "Healthcare.gov".
It has been 8 months since then and I have done everything the website and the representatives have asked. I have called them about 12 times and they always assure me that it will get taken care of and it never does, then they send me letters and emails threatening that they will terminate coverage if I don't get it fixed. AND MY WIFE IS PREGNANT!
Cherry on top. The healthcare service that we are currently enrolled in for 2017 has no choice but to pull out of Nevada for individual plans because of healthcare.gov. And there are no PPO plans in Nevada now for individuals with prior conditions (Pregnancy). So we are forced to use a healthcare.gov HMO plan for 2018 and my wife's OBGYN does not accept HMO plans so we have to switch doctors at the end of the pregnancy.
Also, every time you call to talk with them the staff has no idea what they are doing and it takes 30 minutes just to get on the same page just for them to stay "I dont know" or "There is nothing we can do" when there is something they can do, as I found out later.
DO NOT USE! SAVE YOURSELF A WORLD OF TROUBLE
