I was trying to pay my premium was getting no where with Ambetter my insurance through marketplace, I ask for a supervisor which was Janae Taylor, she went step by step, was very understanding and compassionate about my problem. My husband has cardiac issues and we're in the middle of procedures so I was in a Panic to get this straightened out. She was AWESOME! Kudos to Janae!' For outstanding job well done!

“Form 1095a”

Deb R.
3/8/24

My first year on MHS Ambetter and trying to do my 2023 taxes, I found out that I need to have a 1095a form, which I never received via mail or email. I can't even get on the Ambetter MHS website to print the form, because it sends me to the healthcare.gov website. When I do there, it only allows my to renew my 2024 application, can't look at my current application without an ID code, which I have no clue what that is. Can't even go to a "menu" to look for my 2023 forms. Now I'm on the phone with healthcare.gov, waiting to speak with someone. Go figure that the US government has to be this flipping difficult. I unfortunately retired early and needed to obtain insurance. What a huge JOKE! I hate this marketplace, Obamacare crap!

My wife had healthcare through healthcare.gov and I lost my insurance through my job. So, obviously I applied for insurance through healthcare.gov through special enrollment. I selected only myself in this application since my wife already had insurance. Low and behold... my wife is sent a letter saying that they received her request to terminate insurance. Never in the application did it state that my application would terminate my wife's insurance. Nor does it make sense to add my wife to my application when she already has insurance! We contacted the marketplace several times over the course of two weeks and many of the people seemed to be at a loss of what we should do, other than have me redo my application and add my wife since she cannot apply since she does not qualify for special enrollment. Sound complicated? It is, and quite honestly I sympathize with many of the workers who have to deal with this system. Our solution was to redo my application, add my wife, and of course our available healthcare options were not the previous plans that we had. This means that we are paying a higher premium for health insurance that we do not use (except peace of mind) and my wife is still without insurance until next month.

Tip for consumers:
Call someone from the marketplace and do your application over the phone. That way if it gets messed up you can file an escalation and they should be required to fix it for you. It takes way longer but you should be able to be covered if they mess something up. Although there is little you can do legally if they decide not to help you since it is a government organization.

Someone from the federal marketplace healthcare.gov signed me up for a Bright Health insurance plan but then took my card information over the phone and secretly enrolled me in "I Life & Health". After that call I noticed I was being charged a monthly $43 fee which said "I Life & Health" in the online banking description. I called Bright Health and talked to a representative who said this charge was not from them. I called the marketplace and they confirmed the same thing. The marketplace also said they never take bank information over the phone. So this marketplace representative fraudulently took my information and set me up for reoccurring billing with the fake company I Life & Health under the pretense that it was for Bright Health. BEWARE: TALK TO INSURANCE COMPANIES DIRECTLY BEFORE YOU PAY AND DON'T GIVE CARD INFO OVER THE PHONE.

Early August I had enrolled for Medical Insurance, they gave me an affordable quote and was enrolled by a representative. They said the next day that I would have to verify income and send it, and start the "Processing". Which was a week before August 19th, (The day they processed the enrollment). Since then, I'm waiting for an insurance card verification from the insurance company about coverage, etc... I've contacted the insurance company and they have NO KNOWLEDGE OF A POLICY! I've contacted customer service multiple times and fed up with their excuses, no knowledge of whats going on or anything, no policy information or answers for coverage what so ever! I'm about to go off! Close to a month and NO COVERAGE? And you have my personal information? NOT COOL!

These are some of the worst kinds of people on the planet. Scammers who prey on the weak and uninformed through false scare tactics. Don't fall for these bastards, they will only take your money! Luckily I've seen them all and can spot them coming a mile away. Since they found a way to access certain information they were able to mail me their official SCAM letter. First red flag, I was actually approved by Medicaid 100%, and their letter said I wasn't. Second red flag, they claim to "lower" my premium. I have NO Premium. Sorry, not getting any of my money.

Do yourself a favor and don't give these jerks the time of day. Do not respond to them, response only opens the doors and may subject you to their contracts. Based on other reviews it sounds like once they have you hooked, it's tough to get out. Report them to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and write posts like this so others don't fall victim. Of course they're going to be nice if you give them money, just don't expect them to be there when you really need it. Watch for fake posts as well. This group is a complete SCAM. BEWARE!

I have never had a worse experience. I spoke to a CSR (Julia) who mumbled so bad she had to be asked to repeat EVERYTHING because she could not be understood. The supervisor was no better. (Sharon) was LAUGHING as I was explaining my situation to her. When I checked her on it she tried to call me rude for checking her on her behavior. What representative laughs while a person is explaining a serious situation? RUDE! I can't afford the insurance... there is no need to be rude atop of that. Your information becomes theirs FOREVER! They cannot discard your applications or your information from their system. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL.

HOPE TRUMP GETS RID OF THIS AWFUL SYSTEM! I'm no fan of Trump either.

AWFUL EXPERIENCE!

I didn't even get to log into the website and I already hate it. Forgot my password from last year so I tried to reset it. They ask for my email address... I enter it... Receive an email... Click on the given link... Answer 3 security questions, then it goes to a screen which asks for my email so they can send me another link to reset my password... I enter my email... I click on the given link... AND IT'S 3 SECURITY QUESTIONS, AND IT ASKS FOR MY EMAIL TO SEND ME THE SAME LINK. WHAT?! GET IT RIGHT

Needed temporary health insurance, but was able to get insurance extended so I called the insurance company directly to cancel, then got a call from healthcare.gov because for some reason, they were told to call me. I explained that I had called the insurance directly to cancel, and they went on a spiel about how it would take 3-6 weeks, but they couldn't cancel anything for me. I CALLED THE INSURANCE COMPANY DIRECTLY TO CANCEL. I told him I didn't know why he was calling me, he told me that he was doing what his boss told him to do. I got frustrated with the talking in circles, then he called me a $#*! and that I was being unreasonable. I may have shown some frustration in my voice that I had no idea why he was calling and he didn't seem to know either, but I was not discourteous or unreasonable. Told him he was a horrible customer service rep, he said he worked for himself... yet he has a boss? This is a horrible service, I would never use them again.

Tip for consumers:
Just don't use them. And if you get Rex as a service rep, ask for someone else.

I moved 1/1/21 so Healthcare.gov had to assign me a new health insurance company in 2021. My 2020 insurance company isn't sending my EOBs from 2020 because they don't have my new address and I am not allowed to change it, this must be done by Healthcare.gov. HEALTHCARE.GOV CAN'T CHANGE THE ADDRESS SINCE IT'S FROM 2020 AND WE ARE NOW IN 2021. This is bonkers and I need a lawyer.

I'm currently without coverage because they somehow lost my original application the State Farm agent did when I signed up in December for 2016 coverage. Problems with my bank not direct pay to Anthem caused me to lose coverage in April 2016 but I quickly remedied the situation. August 4,2016 Anthem informed me that Marketplace cancelled my coverage because I needed to submit documents to prove myself and my children were US citizens. My original thought was "can't they just use our social security numbers and cross reference that information?" But I finally got a ton of documents together and submitted it all.
Long story short, on a phone call where I finally got to talk to a supervisor, she said that I didn't need to submit paperwork and all I needed to do was put in our social security numbers.
They were there from the get go but when I temporarily lossed coverage in April, they reset my application without the SS numbers.
I'm awaiting a back surgery with was initially scheduled for September 14, but now I have to wait because of their mistake and mishandling of my information.
Affordable Healthcare Act is a joke and they not only rip off us the consumer and citizens, they are ripping off the doctors and other medical professionals. That's why all the doctors and providers I used to see when I had a group plan don't accept Obamacare. They know they're getting ripped off.
As a highly educated, middle class, self employed American, this system is a tragedy.

Tip for consumers:
Vote for those who will overturn ACA.

Always gotten a refund but because someone put in wrong information throughout the year without my knowledge (because the website would NEVER work for me) and even put in my social wrong getting me dropped for a random month. My husband and I now OWE on taxes because of a mistake the marketplace admitted to making but they couldn't do anything for me. Told me to call IRS who basically said yes you just have to pay even though it was their fault. Do NOT USE THE MARKETPLACE. Would have rather had not insurance, paying for something that wasnt even USED and now I owe money for it. Thank you for the headache and stress. Glad I get to pay for someone elses mistake.

InconvenienceThis is ridiculous. I have now called 3 times in the last month for my 1095 form because I have not received it by mail still, only to find out the last two staff I spoke with did not do their job and had not sent out my form. The first time was because it was the wrong address, not my current, which I had already informed the marketplace that my address was changed. The second time was the same response and the 3rd said what I experienced. Now they told me the option of getting it online. Well every single time I have tried to log into this site, it is unable to verify my account where I click the link to verify and don't see ANYTHING in my email or spam, as they told me to check. And with no verification I am an unable to log in to receive said form. This whole process has been a huge inconvenience and I'm left with no other options other than to wait for the forms to come in a month and now file an extension for my taxes to get done. I pay my health insurance monthly so why am I being punished for doing everything right, due to lack of competence?!?

I signed up for insurance through a company, that goes through this agency. The price of the premiums I paid for a single individual was exceedingly high. They base what you pay, around entire family income. Since my husband had retired, I had no more full time income. I only went twice to a doctor while on the plan. On one visit, I received a discount of $12.93 from a $150.00 bill. They actually paid nothing. One another visit, out of $220.00, they paid $20.56 and I received a discount of $37.37. So out of a balance of $370.00 total, I was stuck paying $299.14. I might add this was one of their Silver Plans. For the first few months, I had their Bronze plan. I was told by the person I purchased the plan through, to try not to even go to any doctors during that time. I couldn't even find very many doctors I liked around here, who would even accept the plan. All it really amounts to was a junky HMO plan, at a very high cost. I wish I would have never signed up! I wasted my money for a useless card in my wallet, which was a joke.

I went online to cancel my plan and resign up for a new plan, as I had just moved out of state and was currently unemployed. I filled out a form saying that I was cancelling and explained why. I was then redirected to a second form to sign up for a new plan. Turns out the first form I filled out isn't the correct form to cancel one's plan even though it is advertised as such. No where in the process did it say I need to call to cancel. I kept getting billed. I called Marketplace and they said because I didn't call, I had never canceled and told me that they could not retroactively change the date. I even showed them proof that I had submitted the form and had even already started a new government healthcare plan (how can I have two at the same time?). They insisted that they couldn't do anything and encouraged me to write an appeal. But then the appeal form said I couldn't appeal for coverage end date reasons. I called back and kept getting the turn around and eventually was out of range to appeal. I can't just not pay it either because it will ultimately come out of my taxes next year and at full price as opposed to the marketplace price. The cancellation process is designed to screw you over.
