After likely deleting my notice regarding items I won, I became worried that something had gone wrong. Upon calling and speaking with a very nice agent, I was quickly assured that my auction win had indeed been shipped slightly late. Sure enough it showed up in my mail the next day!
In current bids it says the name of the auction NOT the Auction House. No location to down load a resale tax form ahead of time. A bidder can't change their credit card it's just one choice. The return policy needs addressed because a number of these auction houses don't verify what they are selling. AKA selling gold filled as gold! Other options of payment would be good Zell, PayPal etc.
Used hibid Maritimes for a few auctions in one week. Received all items except 2. These 2 were gold coins from Silver Rose Antiques (SRA) and 3 names used were Tre Findlay, Joshua Alter and Becca Alter. I gave multiple chances for HiBid to investigate on their end but they pretended to be doing something, but the only thing I see different were the lots in dispute were removed from my history. I did take pictures so I have them for the police report and the receiving bank account is being looked into. The idea of HiBid is a great platform but its nothing more than a Kijiji that is not responsible for any transactions. As long as they do not handle the transaction, it is the perfect platform for scammers to take your money off your hands.
Tip for consumers:
SRA lack of credibility. There should be reviews available of auction houses on their site. Hibid should act as a 3rd party transaction manager. I would avoud tgem other than that

It's easy to choose an auction to participate online. You bid on items and receive constant updates by email to let you know if you've been outbid. The night of the closing, you can participate live to bid for your chosen items in case someone bids against you until you win the bid or decide to let it go!

Site is set up well and easy to pull together a watchlist of items that you have interest in. Greatest gripe would be the variety on how shipping is handled from one auction to another and the wide variance in shipping expense. Ran into a auction that indicated shipping was available, but the auction house had nothing to with it. Some provide full service, sone indicate no shipping, and then you have this one that buyer is responsible for organizing shipping. Makes for allot of extra hassle and expense and would be to have some to denote this type of shipping set up to allowing seller to avoid.
Allows access to auctions that would not normally be an option in past.

So I've been using hibid for about 2 years now and have never had a problem. However I recently spent a sizable amount of money on a lot on the site. When the items arrived they were holy and entirely not what they were listed as. When I called the website thinking that they would be like eBay and stand behind the auctions listed on their platform and that they would be against people fraudulently selling items on their website. However, what I found out when I called the website is they merely lease their software to whoever will pay for it and no matter how egregiously misleading the description of an item is, they will not get involved and you are entirely at the mercy of the people running the misleading auction, who obviously have very little motivation to make you whole. Screw these guys, use eBay instead.
It is fascinating to see that folks like to sneak in bids in the last few seconds. It is also interesting to see that these same folks like to pay an exorbitant amount of money for some items that could not be resold for half the price. Oh well, this is not the only site that this occurs on; and it is your money. Can't take it with you.

Not all of my purchases have been home runs but you must expect that. These little auction houses lay it all out in the description for the most part. I only buy toys and collectibles and have had great success. I continue to buy in hibid.
I was watching items for a couple of days. I got home, logged in, and registered as the auction was closing. I bid on 3 items, the first two were not accepted. I emailed, and the response was, "You didn't register until 6:18. If you read the auction, items started closing at 6:00 pm. I accepted you as soon as I saw the registration."
Not blaming anyone, but was really looking forward to the two items my bid was not accepted on.
Bidding is easy. I would like some dimensions of items like furniture to know if I have the ability to pick it up and I have noticed that sometimes there isn't a time listed for pick up. Sometimes I have several auctions going at the same time in different areas and I need to know if I will be able to pick them up or not before I start bidding.
I asked questions but they were not answered.

I like HI Bid over all. The buyers premium to me is a bit odd, it's all done on a computer, so an 18% adder to me is a bit much. Sometimes the UPS stores that an auction house will use do not seem to be in any hurry to get the items shipped out. I am not in a hurry to get my items, but 10-14 days seems a bit too long to me.
A lot of fun and interesting items.
Not sure what HiBid charges the auctioneer, but fees are becoming so high that I am becoming cost prohibitive to participate in online auctions. However, HiBid does have an easy process and is convenient.

I am so glad to have stumbled across this site. It was super simple to register and bid. And there were items I really needed at a bargain. The plus it that they are local and there are they offer a few pick up days and time to choose from.

Awesome thanks for making it easy for me to use and buy things I wanted without having to see the face of someone else who was going to be against me cuz sometimes seeing that person makes it hard for me to be cuz I don't want to take away from that person so this was much easier

I've been the winner in other online sites in the past only to be told later that the bidding wasn't final and I didn't win despite the green "You won!". None of that horseplay here. Great experience. I highly recommend this site.

I don't know what has happened to hibid. I want to only bid in Ontario and it constantly includes the US. It keeps flipping from Ontario searches for things to the full site. It also buffers a lot when bidding. It's become very frustrating. I also miss out on a lot of items because they are not linked to a search.

This site has a lot of deceptions. Not the matching an 18% buyer's fee stay away from this site as mentioned above it is run by nothing but thieves. I've been gone a group of coins for $80 come to find out it was $80 a piece for coins that were worth about $30 a piece. When I told them that it was a mistake that I didn't realize they told me I was being forced to pay I told them I did not have that kind of money cuz I did it three or four times on that site. (Came to about $1,300) then if that wasn't bad enough I go to pay a bill and my credit card was denied I look at my bank and they took out $150 as their so-called that deposit.

I waisted my time with Prebids because when live started it wouldn't let me bid anymore. So why waist my time with biding at all. Waist 2 days looking over items just to be told sorry

It doesn't get any easier than this. You register you bid and time runs out and it's yours if you're the highest bidder that simple. A lot of great deals and sometimes you catch something that no one else catches and you'll get it for a great bargain!

Would like to not have a minimum opening bid. Do not like having to pay with credit card. The 18% premium is too steep.

I never been to an auction where the fees were more than the amount you bid on. This is the worst auction. The amount of fees they charge should be illegal. Tell me how you win a bid for 5 dollars. Then charge you 2 dollars in taxes and 20 dollars just for winning the bid. So for my 5 dollar bid there charging me $27.75 dollars. I understand hibid is different from the general auction company. But if hibid wants to keep some customers hibid shouldn't allow there outrages high fees. It looks bad for the company if your paying $2 on taxes for something that cost $5.
