After likely deleting my notice regarding items I won, I became worried that something had gone wrong. Upon calling and speaking with a very nice agent, I was quickly assured that my auction win had indeed been shipped slightly late. Sure enough it showed up in my mail the next day!
In current bids it says the name of the auction NOT the Auction House. No location to down load a resale tax form ahead of time. A bidder can't change their credit card it's just one choice. The return policy needs addressed because a number of these auction houses don't verify what they are selling. AKA selling gold filled as gold! Other options of payment would be good Zell, PayPal etc.
Great experience. Able to bid on items without having to travel great distances, or dealing with the crowds. I'm too short to see over the crowds, at least on HiBid I can see what I'm bidding on.
My first time bidding, the instructions were easy to follow, and I picked up my product with no issues. Good experience.

I have won many good items from some good people selling on Hibid. I dont win everything I bid on but there are some good deals from reputable sellers.

I have had mainly very positive experiences with Hibid. My only difficulty has been purchasing from another state - the payment, shipping, process itself can be complicated.

I don't recommend Hibid.com or Stritzinger Auction to anyone. Use at your own risk. They put all the cards in the hands of the auctions that are members and will not listen to a buyer when the buyer is being rated unfairly. My situation in a nutshell was that after winning a $5 auction that I thought offered shipping, I was waiting for the shipping charges. After only four days, the auction company (Stritzinger) dinged me for non-payment. I called and was treated very rudely even though I was willing to pay the $5 despite the fact that they were not willing to drop the flat item in an envelope to mail. Then because of that four or five other auctions that I registered with saw the one negative feedback that I received and they left comments that looked like I had stiffed them, but I had not even won an item with them. Roll it all up and my whole account is blemished because of the one misunderstanding with Stritzinger. Hibid didn't care, didn't want to help. So, there it is. I'll find another auction site and get on with it, but if I were you, I'd do the same thing because if you ever have a problem, Hibid will not lift a finger to help regardless of the circumstances.
How is it my max bid is hit everything I bid when there is no other action on something until the last five minutes. I dont mean this has happened once or twice but almost every auction. My bid goes to the max dollar even when I intentionally tried to be outbid by a low max. Then trying to pay for your items is a freaking nightmare with such a poor interface... auction houses not using their registered names and emailing next to impossible to decipher invoices with no idea what name they use on hibid.com. Emails go unanswered on "to be" shipped orders, so they can resale items. If you are lucky enough to get your items via make e pect the shipping and processing fees to be inflated 29.00 to mail a record what a effen joke then its mailed in a freaking envelope for 29.00 dollar records cost 3.19 to mail. This 26.00 for a envelope and the time it takes to print a label and tape it up. I could go on and on and on... I'm done with these jokers the whole lot save yourself the headache this site is trash. 1.8 out of five on the BBB SAYS IT ALL

Hibid itself is just an online auction website + software system. It CAN be scammed by auctioneers because they can see each bidder's maximum bid and in most states, "shilling the bid" - adding their bid to just below your maximum IS legal. I've been shilled by several auctioneers but always do the math first to know what would be a good price for an item including commission, taxes, and shipping. One can sort items by "order - high to low bids", look at the bidders, and even though their names are anonymized you can identify the same bidder that's aaaalllllmost winning in all the $$$ auctions.
This was recently confirmed by an auctioneer acquaintance of mine after TWO flaky auctions where I won by my max bid. One was a $350 camera with the (shill?) second bidder MATCHING my bid SIX times!
Also, entering your true maximum bid at first is probably not a good strategy because of the above. As the auction closes, the closing items may come too fast and furious for the shill to keep up and multiple bids as in a traditional auction can be effective.

Be aware that the auctioneers can see your maximum bid and may shill the auctions.

I won some of the items I bid on and lost some that I couldn't get back to quick enough. All in all, HiBid has been very easy for me to work with & I recommend them highly.
I am relatively new to the auction world, but was told by someone about an item I had been looking for, about to be auctioned. It was on HiBids auctions & I found it a pleasure to navigate their website and discover the huge variety of auctions they have, not to mention how easy it is to bid. If I win or am outbid on an item, they are very good to email me and inform me.

I sent an email twice to this auction advising them of the fake coin, with an additional link for them to verify the truth in what I presented to them. Have they pulled the coin from the auction? NO! They show the weight in a photo (link above) to be.250 grams; The reference link shows a correct weight to be more of a quarter troy ounce of gold. http://numismatics.org/collection/*******363 My advice to those that pay an overly amount of fees in buyer's premiums, in part to Hibid and in part to the auction company, should expect truth and originality to the item(s) being auctioned. My advice to participants would be to, read and research, as much as you can, on items to protect yourself against the Fraud that exist in these auctions, the buyer's premiums 10-20%+, excess shipping costs and "mostly the items!" Take some time to point this out to your friends and associates. They are many other places to find most anything, besides throwing your money away!

Please list or post as much as you might to help save others the grief of a skyrocketing expense while buying at these auctions. I've found a fake item reported it to the auction while it was active, showing the truth of a real like item from a professional, reputable website. Providing the fault of their auction item and the real thing! HiBid needs to step up to the plate and take responsibility for what they do and their user agreements* before the U.S. Attorney General's office steps in.
