After likely deleting my notice regarding items I won, I became worried that something had gone wrong. Upon calling and speaking with a very nice agent, I was quickly assured that my auction win had indeed been shipped slightly late. Sure enough it showed up in my mail the next day!
In current bids it says the name of the auction NOT the Auction House. No location to down load a resale tax form ahead of time. A bidder can't change their credit card it's just one choice. The return policy needs addressed because a number of these auction houses don't verify what they are selling. AKA selling gold filled as gold! Other options of payment would be good Zell, PayPal etc.
The site works well and is fairly functional. Good options for sorting watch lists, former bids (including only won items, outbid, etc.) There are also options to view auction items by category, limit to auctions that ship, and search all auctions by key word. My only negatives are:
1. I REALLY wish I could check boxes to include/exclude categories. For example, I will never be interested in bidding on coins. I would love to be able to exclude them from my view.
2. Search function appears to be for all auctions only. It would be nice to restrict search by keyword within a specific auction.
3. I would love to be able to review (and see reviews for) individual auction houses on the site, as well as see my own bidder rating.
Regarding many of the negative reviews here:
1. HiBid is the HOSTING WEBSITE. They are NOT the auction house(s). Being mad at HiBid for your experience with an individual auction is like getting mad at Craigslist (before Craigslist was mostly scammers.) There are WAY too many auction houses (they aren't limited to the US) to address every complaint for every person who is upset. Use a protected credit card for your purchases, READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS for EACH INDIVIDUAL AUCTION (Yes, they ARE all different) and contact the auctioneer BEFORE THE AUCTION if you have questions.

I have been using Hi-Bid for a couple of years now. I have never had a bad experience. Its fun, easy, and always a pleasure.

Easy as 1-2-3, but be sure to bid early as last second bids sometimes lag!

In my limited experience with HiBid and online auction houses is that HiBid doesn't seem to vet the auction houses; thus my 2-star review.
I've done one transaction with a local (to me) auction house, and it was perfect. I got exactly what was described and the costs were exactly as I expected.
Round 2 began when I started bidding on silver from the other side of the USA. I asked a question of the auctioneer that seemed to make them bid on their own auction. In fact, of the 100 or so lots I was watching (bidding on a few), the price magically jumped to just under my Max Bid on one auction, I was outbid on the others up to about retail price, and the ones I was only watching were bid up to retail as well. Of those 90 or so lots I was watching only, bids suddenly appeared on ALL of them too, and the bidders' anonomized names were conspicuously absent. Instead, the listed bidder was "Other Website, Phone, Mail in, absentee bids". That's clearly bull$#*!. What just happened is the auctioneer bid on their own listings to protect the auction item from selling too low or at all, even though they list $1 starting prices and "no reserve".
In short, if you're going to bid via this portal called HiBid, check the selling auction house for honesty, integrity, and history. I checked this seller (unnamed) before the auction closed, and it was an UGLY picture. Their reviews were horrible, so I made sure they could not charge my card BEFORE the auction closed. I'm glad I did...
I think HiBid should vet these auction houses before allowing them to use HiBid as a portal to rip off consumers, but that's just me $.02 worth... I hope it helps some unsuspecting buyer out there.
Fun fun fun! Always a pleasure and all of the auction houses are friendly and make shipping items very easy.
I think I got some really good deals. The end bidding wars were the most fun. You have to stick with it to the end.

And we don't know what are we gonna do or who are we gonna reach out to?!
Auctioneers can commit any fraud or lie as bad as they want and there is nothing you can do. If you try they just blackball you.
Tip for consumers:
Do not trust any descriptions or pictures.

The phone app needs some work...should be able to hide closed items, I ended up bidding from my computer
