I operate a very low volume website on wordpress and with a near $20/m plan it wasn't even capable of using the wordpress control panel. Overloaded shared servers or terrible allocation. I've foolishly used them for nearly 4 years and am extremely glad to have switched. Cheaper and infinitely faster. Never use Hostwinds.
Excellent, personable support in migrating my WordPress site over to Hostwinds. Very attentive, worked into late hours getting it all setup and then followed up promptly on minor tweeks and issues. Everything resolved and up and running just fine. Tech support responded quickly to my questions and I couldn't be more pleased. The chat support is quite knowledgeable and very helpful with wordpress or migration questions and quickly pushed my issues up the ladder if they couldn't answer them. Highly recommend this company.

I did further checks, research, comparison, etc.
I believe, as that website said above, hostwinds's product which I needed (vps windows), was the best choice, compared to other providers. I will save a whopping 80% on my server cost, and much faster (memory is twice, I would knowledgeably and as far as I can see, say so).
Hostwinds' product descriptions in the product pages were clear and crisp. I got what I needed to know. What was left, I asked support, and got great support on my product queries.
All the major addon items I needed were available: monitoring, server snapshot images, and backups.
While the VPS worked fine, when I canceled the VPS in September, they continued to charge my credit card. Even today January 1 2022, they still continue to charge my credit. It's like they won't let you cancel. I'm probably gonna have to end up calling my cc company to block them from future charges. 4 times I have asked to cancel and they just won't cancel the service. Crazy

The only thing I found expensive is the cost of additional services on domain registrations.
I'm protecting my address and contact information on one of the domains and that service is usually included in the domain on other places.

My domain name is unavailable due to some issues with domain registration. The customer service has been helping me, patiently and responsible. Because I learned from the forum that Hostwinds is a rapidly developing company, the price and capabilities are very cost-effective, so I chose Hostwinds, so far everything is good
Purchasing the hosting was easy.
But there was something I would have preferred to assign myself, the username.
Also, when I purchased the hosting, the domain was different from that which i wanted to use.
I suggest that buyers be allowed to assign their username and domain on the purchase form.
Other than that, the purchase process was seamless.
Their online chat was easy, fast and they gave very concise answers.
I used to have an account at burst.net.
Apparently, when I entered burst.net on the browser, it redirected to hostwinds.com.
So i suppose they own it already.
Also, being an Inc 500 company made me feel secure about the hosting's stability.
I want to say some more words of Hostwinds, it's a very well executed hosting company. If you are technical, they can help, if you are not technical, they can help! I like the way they provide their services.
I find the technical support from Hostwinds to be outstanding, and, the pricing very reasonable.
I have experience operating at the command line level in Linux but have occasionally needed some help and have gotten all the answers required. Well done!
My server prompted me to run some commands when I first logged in, but when I did it set up cloud backup, that I did not need. I contacted support via chat and they created a billing ticket to cancel the service. It was all taken care of.
I also needed some help to get Apache running, the httpd daemon, because there were some failed dependencies due to some outdated packages upon first initializing the server. I was given all the information needed to run yum and update 435 packages with a few commands! Then everything worked.

I love Hostwinds service, they are always prompt with any issues I have and I can actually speak to someone on the phone. The uptime is excellent. They are the rock. They offer FREE for Life with Annual Registrations - this what I also like about them. High 99% uptime and very fast servers. I developed my Wordpress Website with optimum speed using the available softaculous addon in the cpanel. I also have two addon sites with the same hosting plan.
I actually have a personal account with Hostwinds and also a business account - both are fast though! The business package is really fast, I have a high-traffic website and I think Hostwinds is only helping me to serve my customers better.
Very pleased with the service. I bought also the SQL service and the installation was swift.
The only minus was that I expected the discount throughout the contract, but it is only for the subscription price. It is not clear on the site

Existing customer: I decided to upgrade my services because of email deliverability issues. Since my upgrade, I have yet to have a single day pass without needing to contact Hostwinds support. The migration was sloppy and lacked thoroughness. As of 2/10/2022, I still am having deliverability issues with my account.
I am constantly having to identify issues with my account set-up. I pay for technical support from initiation of services through continuous account monitoring. I am beside myself when I am told to make adjustments to my account when the tech support team is responsible for setting up the account.
Because I thought a smaller provider would be more responsive. Historically, Hostwinds was very good with their customer service. But that service appears to be diminishing rapidly.
I found Hostwinds while I was searching for a new hosting provider, due to my original one having and outage and needing to get my server back up quickly. Hostwinds prices seemed to be in line with what I was expecting and spinning up a new host and deploying it was easy to accomplish and I had everything back online and running quicker than I expected.
I ended up picking Hostwinds based on reviews and their offering the service I needed at a good price.
My ip is blocked by the government, and Hostwinds didn't provide an option for me to change it freely. I bought that IP, found it didn't work, and tried to change one, but it told me that this action sells for 3 dollars, and the new IP could also be blocked!

I find here on hostwind Cheap server with Quality hosting service. Over all my i am just using this service from just 2 days now. I can not tell more about this right now. (sorry for my poor english).

When I started with Hostwinds I had an intention to grab smallest VPS, but started with shared hosting account, because I was told I would be able to upgrade my account to VPS with no problem. And after some time I do understand that it was correct to not to start with VPS.
Signing up process - nothing special, but my new order was put "on hold", so I had to reach hostwinds and just confirm my identity. Do not feel really comfortable on this, but it seems to be normal to most services I used.
Now I have everything I expected (nothing extra) - site up and running, assistance always in pace (I always have the chat assistance when I'm in my client area).
Price I pay is fair enough.

Ordered a hosting package and then a domain. Got a message that the domain purchase was under review for 24 hours. A day later still no domain and still no explanation. I think I'm canceling and going somewhere else

You provider ubuntu16 is so bad, when i first use apt-get install, $#*! that can't install soft and input error., and you system give client before use not test stable and no bug? I think you service is soso and not good for like ali or other cloud service provider.

Our original host shut down on September 30. We transferred our site to Hostwinds based upon another customer's recommendation. The transfer process was relatively easy.
Ive worked with almost every major and minor host over the past 10 years. The sales guys know their stuff to get that sale, but everyone else will mislead, miscommunicate, overcharge, misrepresent and sabotage your hosting related business. There is a reason they do NOT do refunds. Best looking but worst actual mid sized hosting company out there. DON'T BE FOOLED! FIND ANOTHER HOSTING COMPANY!
