I loved this site! It made my apartment search so easy! You enter in what you are looking for and it populates all available listings on a map and makes it so easy to just click around and compare everything. The listings are very detailed in what amenities it has, location, and price. Unlike craigslist that sometimes requires a lot sifting and searching and back and forth inquiries. I actually found an apartment through this site because the unit was not listed on craigstlist! Just becareful of scammers that post fake listings and be sure to report them as fraud if you see them.
Posted pictures of a home that was not real, only the outside was legit. Asked for government ID and personal information. I spoke with the real home owner and is reporting them.

I am looking for a new place in north Chicago and my daughter recommended hotpads.com I am looking specifically dog-friendly places. I contacted 4 places 3 answered but did not take dogs contrary to what the description said and one (the one I likes most) never answered. The site does not have any filters so you can narrow your preferences and the worst is that they keep sending you two or three emails a day with pictures of random places as you can see in the picture. One side of the city to another. So annoying and totally useless.
Nobody but NOBODY will answer your requests on this website. So stop trying. It has been over a month I sent requests to perhaps 100 apartments and not a single human responded to me. But my email box is loaded with fake bs of hotpads.
Tip for consumers:
Dont waste your time. this is not a real website or listings.
Hotpads.com is a waste of time. You won't find a unit. Hardly anyone responds and if they do its the standard you need to have a 700 plus credit rating, three jobs, 1 million dollars in the bank, and donate blood to get an apartment. You might as well just walk around to apartment complexes and look that way. The internet is supposed to make things easier not harder. Hotpads.com is a frustrating, low quality experience.
Out of 100 % I receive a response 2 % of the time I just think they need to upgrade or cancel because what's the point if you can't never respond and that goes for everyone it's like they all are comfortable lazy and unconcerned about people that actually need to move or at least here something from them
Nope. They got me hooked in by advertising a really great deal that I got zero response BACK from, when inquiring. The "Verified" Property Management phone number wasn't taking calls any longer (did it ever?). So now I was getting matched up with DEALS in my area that were astronomically overpriced. They got me. I really wanted that too-good-to-be-true condo for $1775.00 in San Clemente. If ya know which one I'm talking about, it's not real - just a ploy. Fool me once, that's it.
These apartments have gone down hill since they changed their management 8 months ago. They don't care about their renters, they lie to your face and don't have the time to talk to you.
They say luxury? All the pool furniture is torn up and straps missing of the pool loungers. Iguana $#*! all around the pool, for your kids to run through. The steam room is is a disgrace. Dirty and stinks. Dog $#*! on every grass site, just disgraceful. Do I need to go on? Stay well away unless you want to throw your money away.
Office Muppets will lie to get you through the door!
If you a Section 8 tenant whose looking for an apt please before you work with any Brokers from Keller Williams Realty group. Found them on Hotpads for a listing in the Bronx. I waited for approval over a wk to hear that I didn't get the place. If anybody knows that Section 8 is limited to timing so I waited to be disappointed. The owner had all my family paperwork and more. I had to call/text them for an answer of disappointment.
Availability on properties is fake. Attempted to see several properties with "first available" showing, on that day, very first available time. The site then asks for you to upload your ID. After sending that into nowhere, you are then inundated with texts and emails (a runaround). The properties are suddenly "no longer available", even though the site states a future availability date. In other words, they're using the prescreen data to 1) discriminate against certain renters; and 2) hound potential renters. (I was texted repeatedly by one landlord until I blocked him.) I'm also reporting to BBB because I've tested with different potential renters: they are discriminating against women and POC. Hire a realtor. These apps are terrible.
Each time I've tried to enter a suggested move-in date, the site auto-enters something like "Na-Na-Na-Na." Once it's changed to that, I can't edit it. I tried to reach them via the site and I got a message that an error occurred. I don't trust them, or their listings.

The landlords in Hamtramck, MI are racist and do not want any African Americans renting out their apartments. They will only rent to people who are from Bangladesh or Yemen. After contacting the landlords through Hot Pads they all told me that the place was available and they all set up an appointment for me to see the the apartment. Once I arrived none of them showed up to let me view the apartment. I called them several times while standing outside of the apartment, none of them answered my phone calls. I had one landlord slowly drive pass, looked to see who I was and then speed off. I've contacted HUD and reported all of them for Housings Discrimination.
Claimed they found "perfect" affordable housing for me, filled out application including SS#, bank accounts, and lots of other personal information, Called Apartment manager to see if I could come see during application process and hour after submitting, and she "None available". HotPads "customer service number, *******368 recording says number not available.
Their system has mu9issues when making payments. They take money from your account in error and take weeks to return it. The customer service is horrible and they refuse to provide any way to get in touch with management
You ask for a little more information and call a hour later either you get a leave a message or its been rented. It just popped up hour earlier but thes a application process? Such a joke when you alone make 5k a month and your wife makes 2k a month and they can't even be honest about their crap.

I give Hotpads a 0. One year I paid for a rental aplication. I didnt receive no service. Everytime I sign in for interest on a apartment no one ever returns my call. So today 4/12/2019 I am deleting them out of my life for good. They are nothing but bull $#*!. Bye bye Hotpad crap. No more faking around with you. Asta la vista baby!
9950 E Bay Harbor Dr. #2, Bay Harbor Islands, Fl *******
This apartment is infested by cockroaches. Rats in the back yard hanging on trees or coming to your back door. A/C units leaking water inside and outside, lots of mold. The owner comes to your front door 3-4 times a day and/or working under your bed room window starting 7:30 am in the morning... Sometimes they sit in the garden as well thought they live in another condo on surfside. You will never find your privacy even thought you paying your rent. You are not allowed to use freely public parking infront of this building thought they never rent/reserve them from the city of bay harbor... long time rental neighbors have priority to use the washing facilities before you. You may have only one day to wash your clothes. 2 other units are overcrowded. 5-8 people living in one apartment... Owner not reliable!
Month to month contract. Backyard full of owners garbage supplies and dirty maschines stored also under your windows.
Please please think twice before you rent from this Componey. The manager she is very nasty, a lier, scammer and they horrible. We leave in one of the Propery for 6 months with broken dish wAsher old fridge that wake us up every night. Roaches are ever where and had to call the code inforcment after they didn't care we suffering in the cold house with no gas and no water heater for 3 days. Please live in the garbage but don't waste your money with them. I feel harassed and unwanted with them they don't call you or fix the problem but if you late 5 min after midnight to pay then on the first they send notice at 6 am that day and million email s to evict you.
Listed at 1800. Didn't say anything about the 35 dollars that they charge you for a paper application that has all my info on it. Only to get a No over the phone but didn't explain why
My fiance and I had been searching for houses with 4 bedrooms all summer. Finally came across a good location, nice house and area for the kids. Well we get our lease, sign, get cashiers check for deposit and owner goes ghost! The realtor said he had done an additional background check and some things came up. Of course I'm asking for details in case this interferes with future applications. This owner would not return calls or email from us nor the realtor. I sent a text mesg to the number used for the zelle or cashapp payment and his name came right up! So basically he was ghosting us. Glad I didn't give him the deposit, but please be leary when trying to rent 1021 Sweepstakes dr in Florissant Mo.
I was very responsive and prompt with everything needed and was approved then ghosted with no explanation. It really irks and grinds my gears because school starts in 1 week!
Emailed them several times to remove the listed property (especially photos) that was sold a month ago, didn't get any reply and the listing is still there!
They have way too many scams and when u contact an apt no one ever ever replies I think Hot Pads needs to drop there app I know I did I used them for 4 1/2 months whit 0 replies please find a different app besides these hurls!
Personal I think that hotpad is very discriminating ppl with vouchers. They have a rating of cost and. When you add the amount they give all this apartments. After they say we've got your email. Okay you say well can I apply. They then want you to work as if you are a billionaire and your credit score has to be so high. How can you then later send an email the apartment has been taken.you go on another site and see the same place. I've been searching for now sense 6/22 and I'm still not in a place. If they really did their work they would see that my email has been on there site and others. The other thing is you guys would send an questionnaire on how I been threaded and I would explain and you guys never answered back. You would also ask have the apartments that I've reached out to got back. If I say no. I hear nothing back either way. Yes I feel like I'm being discriminated because I have a voucher. It's not right. It was so much better when you had to really do the foot work. Go up to buildings/apartments. I'm in desperate need of a place. It's crazy because if I get put out. It will not look good on my record. When I'm looking and doing what I need to do. Someone help me in a studio/ 1 bedroom. I'm from NY
Tip for consumers:
When looking for an apartment make sure you read their reviews
I WENT TO SEE A PROPERTY LISTED BY A AGENT AT THE MANHATTAN IN THE SANDY SPRING DUNWOODY AREA AND THEY TOOK MY 35$ APPLICATION FEE KNOWING THEY DID NOT WANT A BLACK TENANT I COULD TELL THE AGENT WAS VERY RACIST KEPT ASKING ME ABOUT SPORTS SO BE CAREFUL OF GETTING SCAMMED FOR APPLICATION FEES AND RACIAL DISCRIMINATION
I have always found hotpads to be run very well and have never had a real issue. I have found 4 Apts thro them over the yrs.
