Going on an exchange can be stressful, but Housing Anywhere makes finding a place to live easy and it takes hardly any time either. Depending on the city there are lots options, both with or without flatmates. I would recommend anyone to at least try finding something there!
Don't believe them. I ask them for help, follow their guidelines, and finally they tried to kick me out of place right away despite I have paid rent for a month. They are total tricksters and fraud oriented only for provision from booking.
Bad communication between Tenants and Owners. " 2 weeks now Housinganywhere is keeping my rent! I am the Owner and I struggle between my Tenant and HousingAnywhere so that they can release my payment. They just keep saying each of them that the other one is not responding! There is no protection at all for the Owner that you will get your money!
This is a disgraceful website. They charge you an agency fee. The agent is never contactable. They over charged me and never refunded. They told me my apartment was not available 4 days before I was to move in. They kept all deposit of 1100 euro when I had to return to Ireland due to coronavirus pandemic. Disgraceful, disreputable, unprofessional, unscrupulous, I can't find any other words to describe this agency. Students Do NOT use housing anywhere.
Housing anywhere is a huge lifesaver. After being scammed on my first exchange experience, I was hesitant to go abroad again because of all the hassle and stress that finding housing in a foreign country entailed. But after a friend of mine introduced me to this platform, my interest in studying in a new and exciting place was revived. Gone was the worry that I could risk losing my money and end up with nowhere else to go in the middle of the night. The fact that Housing Anywhere would have my back at all times and would keep my money safe was a huge relief. It even made the whole apartment hunting process enjoyable!
I highly recommend this platform to anyone. Especially first-time exchange students who can be at first intimidated by the whole housing process. Trust me, with Housing Anywhere, you are in very good hands!
As a student living on a modest budget, Housing Anywhere is the best solution to my need for accomodations. It is simple to use, registration is free and there a lot of rooms and apartments to choose from. However the quality of available accomodations can range from excellent to absolutely horrible. Nevertheless, I still recommend this website to any young person starting out in another city.
This is a scam, you technically pay 25% of the rent fee which in my case was 400 euros only to learn later that they are a mediator. They just post properties on a website and then not clearly state the full payments needed to be paid. Extra charges and deposits were required at my check-in which were unclearly stated in their overall payment.
Eventually I had to pay double the amount that was mentioned initially at the booking, because of their manipulative way of stating the charges and fees in the payment overview. I tried to write them, but there was no answer! So I had to call them.
The experience was horrible, unprofessional and not transparent at all - such websites need to be put down, especially when student book through them!
I rented a room in Athens for my daughter starting in March. On the website description, it is written that the apartment is located "in the heart of a vibrant neighborhood,". It was totally misleading. We arrived in Athens and went to see the neighborhood of the apartment: Junkies, prostitutes, homeless everywhere and strange men wandering the streets. The neighborhood is totally unsafe for a young girl alone and this feeling has been confirmed by all the locals we met. I asked mid-February to cancel the booking for security reason (first rent has not yet being paid to the landlord), it has been refused: safety of young girl is not a valid reason as per the Terms & Conditions. I never received the contract from the landlord to whom I had precised in my first contact that I was looking for a safe neighborhood. I do not recommend this website: you pay one month, the website fee and no guaranty!

Housing Anywhere (HA) is by far one of the best methods to find a room if you are studying abroad. It is super easy to use its platform and you are sure that you won't be scamed because they do check every room before allowing it to go public.
Of course the room offer depends on the city you are in/going to, and for how long HA as been there promoting. But it is still very reliable and I would definitely advise people to check it out.
In the beginning everything was fine, I rented a bed in a hostel via their website for 500 eur and 150 eur adminstration fee of housinganywhere. But in fact it turned out not to be as advertised. I emailed to support, where I described the reasons and attached photos to request for refund of room renting.
After a day I got a reply that my request was being processed and it would take a maximum of 2 working days. Half a month passed, I have got neither my money nor house!
Really cool opportunity for both groups of students going abroad: incoming and outgoing. You can either easily get a room without signing up long-period contracts while being incoming student or rent out your room and earn some extra money without loosing your contract while being abroad. Safe system and easy-to-nagivate platform.
The only downside is that the platform is not well known in some of the places yet so the range of the offered rooms can be smaller.
I booked a room a while ago and I am moving in in a few days, however the landlord just suddenly cancelled my booking. How am I supposed to find a new place in a few days and they are not taking any responsibility. I already wasted 52 euros on the subscription and all I get are troubles. Many places on the website said room available but are actually not available. Scam your subscription fee money and not helpful at all.
Tip for consumers:
Always have a back up plan because they take no responsibility if they cancel last minute and expect to waste your subscription money.
Be careful!
They will force you to start the payment to book the room and when it's done will tell you that the room is already booked.
Even if it seems hopeless finding accomodations in some cities don't get Fooled like I was.
They make you pay a subscription to use the webpage. Once you start contacting landlords and asking to rent, they never respond. They have the same house ads for very long period of time and nobody is renting them. They just appear there so that you think there are actual houses available, but in reality once you pay all of them are unavailable or they're literally lying.

I stopped paying for their subscription since there are many ads that are a lie. Those houses they advertise don't exist and the landlords never respond.
A great way to get a room fast when you are in need. It was very helpful for me. It gives enables secure transaction of the rent payment to the person renting the room. Easy to use. However, the choice of rooms seems quite narrow.
Same comment as this other one I would advise to avoid renting a room using this platform, since they do not protect you from getting scammed.
Please be aware, they told us in 48 hours charge will be canceled but that never hapenned.

I do not recommend booking with housinganywhere. They don't act as a trustee for the deposit (like for example airbnb), so you don't have any safeguards to get it back from the landlord. I did not get back my deposit and housinganywhere is not helping at all.
Booked a room without lock and the team refuse to give a refund for the service fee despite giving them all the proof. Beware everyone it seems like they will try their best to scam the service fee. Spoke to curtis from the account team and he told me that "i have enough of your nonsense" in the phone. What kind of service is this? Bad customer service. Should really train their staff. WILL NOT RECOMMEND! IT IS A SCAM!
I rented my room out through this platform, and it was so easy to use! The interface is easy to navigate through and very user-friendly. I rented my room out within hours of posting my room on the website to another student! A downside was when I had difficulty removing my room from the website after it has been rented out, but the helpdesk was responsive and helped me with it soon.
I will never use houseanywhere anymore. It charges fast but does not provide any guarantee to ensure I can get the house. After the householder rejects my rental request, houseanywhere just did not reply to my email to cancel the booking, even if I just want my first month rental back (I have not lived there for even one day!) They are just greedy and indifferent.
They have strict rules to avoid you to agree on an on site view of the apartment and contacts to speak directly. So basically you are obliged to pay at least a month rent (!) before you can know if the apartment even exists... They only control (very actively) that you conclude the deals trough the site and call you every time an offer is sent to you. They read all your conversations and call you commenting them. Very risky. And they tell is to protect you... They protect only themselves from losing their commissions. Stay far from this
Terrible service, the worst part is, they don't allow you to visit the place before you pay (which is suspicious enough to know it is a scam).
Then they ask you for more service fees and the full deposit before you even moving in, and all of that before you see the flat physically. Insane, isn't it?
Tip for consumers:
Don't pay unless you view the flat.

If I only knew for this review site before, I would save 700€ which is not even one salary in my country. Nobody will return this to me. They do not give tenants to visit place before moving-in, that's why this thing hapens. They do not even know in which conditions are apartments they advertise. Never again! Very bad experience. Waiting for weeks for theis reply and accusing me to lie...be carefull!
One of their 'most valuable' landlord has accomodation in pictures:
It is very easy to use this platform and there are a lot of offers in order to find a room abroad. Moreover this website helped me a lot in order to rent my own room. However, it happens that sometimes you can't find a room that suits you. But this problem will be solved when the website will gain in popularity.
I find that HousingAnywhere.com is a good alternative to look for a room when going abroad. You can freely look for rooms everywhere in the world and since it works in partnership with universities, is reliable. Just a tip, make sure to look for rooms in advance!
Through housing anywhere I found accommodation for my stay abroad in Switzerland. Very happy with this platform! Thanks to housing anywhere I could get a room in a shared apartment with local students, rather than staying in the student halls. My room was even much cheaper than the ones of the student halls!
I just had the worst experiencie on my life buying on internet, this website will make you pay fees in two diferents websites and when you notice you are paying extra taxes in a new website and want to cancel the booking they keep the first stage fees so now im talking directly with my bank to cancel the whole transactions on this scam website.
