So far so good. Found my flat using this platforms. The 48 hrs guarantee period is higher than what other websites offer.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM!
Recently, I booked an apartment in Berlin from another scam company called "Under Ground" through the HousingAnywhere platform. The move-in day came, and I did not get the key from the landlord (Urban Ground). They ghosted me, and stopped responding my emails.
I then contacted HousingAnywhere for a refund and they ignored. I told them the landlord literally did not give me the keys and didnt allow me to enter the apartment. He also wasn't responding my emails.
HousingAnywhere did then what it has always done. They ignored me and they now also don't answer me :D
I got a problem with my landlord and the only thing I got from them is "he has a strict cancelation",
They wiil not solve any problem to you, You can call them, sent an email... but nothing will be change.
I don't knwo why they have a support.
The worst experince ever..
I would like to aware people to not use the website HousingAnywhere. I booked a room at HousingAnywhere and the agency asked me the double amount of the deposit advertised and is keeping my deposit.
Also, when I entered in the apartment there was a mold odor and I confirm with one of the tenants that the ceiling of the shower was not treated and just painted on top. There was also a linking. The Kitchen was not as showed in the pictures actually the apartment had a broken front door, utilities and appliances not safe to use and a flammable dry vent installation. Basically a not safe apartment at all.
I contacted the support team and they could not cancel even it´s advertised that is possible to cancel in the website. They are asking for pictures and information but they are not able to send a cancelation. So, I have lost all my money about 2.4K and did not stay a day in the room. I am going to look for legal advice but it´s terrible the housing situation in Amsterdam and how companies are taking advance of it.
Hello! Beware of this portal! It is a fraud! I recently booked a room in Madrid. The announcement in the Portal stated that to reserve the room it was enough to deliver an advance monthly payment and € 150 of reservation commissions. I paid. Well, in the next step there was another portal or real estate agency, Smart Rental Living, which asked me for another two monthly payments, one for the deposit and one for an intermediary commission! Housing Anywhere Portal lacks of transparency, it is opaque and the information is poor and distorted. There are several companies involved, all of which asking for their Hello! Seriously stay away, they do absolutely nothing, the landlords are money hungry and so is the site. They waaay overcharge for apartments, don't check landlords and wont return your money.
Hi, in fact I found a nice room at a very interesting price. My request was approved by the owner, but I hesitated a lot because I don't really know this type of site. I received a call from the site, asking me why I hadn't paid and I told them I was afraid it was a scam. The lady on the phone kindly reminded me of the site's policy, which is to cancel within 48 hours if you have any doubts... I paid and then the owner contacted me via my personal address, and told me that the payment of the rent and deposit was in kind and sent me a contract but that didn't seem legal because my name was on it... according to him I will make the payment first. So I notified the site, the support person told me that it was normal and that the owner was a regular of the site (I've been living here for 2 years, and I never had to pay in cash). So I cancelled the reservation and since then I am waiting for the refund. The site tells me that it is in the hands of the financial department and does not give me any news on the status of my request. And as the payment was made by ideal (for info, the other types of payment that could assure me an additional security of my bank did not work_ you be the judge) I can not cancel this transaction with my bank. So personally I had a very bad experience
Terrible service, the worst part is, they don't allow you to visit the place before you pay (which is suspicious enough to know it is a scam).
Then they ask you for more service fees and the full deposit before you even moving in, and all of that before you see the flat physically. Insane, isn't it?
While the service members were nice I feel that the properties in Valencia were substandard. I did not get the first apartment they showed me was a replacement for a covid case in the first apartment and it was substandard. I could not stay there for an hour, much less a night. I paid about $700 waiting for one that they promised would be perfect and it was a waiting room from a lawyers' office with cheap flooring and lawyers books. I lost more than $700 with this horrible service. DO NOT USE.
Nice pictures and graphic design of the platform, but such a waste of time since our 5 attempts of renting where all cancelled. Quite disturbing to get such successful messages like "congrats, you're the next tenant" and few hours later or next day another message saying the room was rented already. Customer support is really answering quickly, but that didn't help increase our chance of renting successfully through the platform
I booked a room with this service, however, the advertiser later told me this room was unavailable, and offered me a more expensive room. I also was unaware of some details about the landlord beforehand (that they were actually a large corporation, with a number of negative reviews). As a result I tried cancelling my booking. Big mistake. If I had waited for the advertiser to cancel the booking I would have saved 150 euros. But housing anywhere will not, under any circumstances, refund this money. Was a long and stressful procedure to even get my 1 months rent back. Strongly advise using another service, like spotahome.
I am VERY frustrated with this site because they make you pay a subscription to even INQUIRE about a potential listing. I did because I was very interested in a few listings. Each agent I listed said that the place was going to be resigned and the current tenant was going to review their lease. Why am I paying a subscription to inquire over listings that aren't available! I feel genuinely scammed and upset.
The people ar ehighly repsonsive but nothing can happen. They literally ask you to pay and then no transfer it to the landlord. In my case, my rent and deposit was debited wrongly twice and Housing anywhere couldnt even help in this case by informing the landlord. They just get angry and cut your call. Dont fall in this trap. I feel ashamed that I paid money to housing anywhere for their services.
I am student, secured admission in IU University of Applied Science, Berlin, Germany.
I was supposed to travel on 29th Apr 2021 and before travel, I booked a room in 66 Monkeys, through HousingAnywhere platform. The advertiser who dealt with me is Maxi. Below is her photo identity hosted over HousingAnywhere.
I have paid first month rent and the service fees as 650 + 162 = 812 EUR.
Just before my travel, on 26th Apr 2021, Federal Govt of Germany imposed travel restrictions on first time travelers from India, although Student. So, after I got this information, I told Maxi about the current situation, and she said that she understands the situation and I should keep her posted about the happenings. There was no information from her side stating what needs to be done in all such situations. I was expecting her to tell me that i need to cancel the booking asap since it is going to be considered my booking as if i have staying there (although it was just booking and i was not physically occupying the room). I still have not cancelled the booking on my behalf. This booking is cancelled by Maxi, stating that I have not paid the rent for second month and also the caution money. And I am going to lose the whole 862 EUR. I think this is ridiculous and not justifiable.
I can understand that somebody cancels my booking, says that the money is kept secured with HousingAnywhere, and will be utilized as and when I confirm the booking once my travel is finalized. But that's not the case here. I am not at all happy with the response that I get. And now she is not at all responding to my queries. I need assistance. Otherwise, I really need to look for the options that can assist me lodge a complaint against Maxi and against HousingAnywhere. Also, I don't think that I will be able to recommend HousingAnywhere, anybody in future. I think this is a scam and somebody should voice the concern.
For me, 812 EUR is not a small amount. She was even insisting me to pay the caution money of 1300 EUR, which thankfully i have not paid. But I am worried about my money. And I want each EUR back in my account.
Any pointers will help me here.
I moved back to Hamburg after a terrible experience renting in Berlin. A massively traumatic start, considering how easy and fair HousingAnywhere's policies seemed... How wrong I was. I was charged the platform fee and a month's rent straight off, having done all the right things to mitigate the worst circumstances, I thought everything was going to be all right.
I communicated on the platform, I spoke to several staff who were fast (but curt) and then, just as they had taken my money, all the communication stopped. I had to chase and chase for any sort of answer. I wanted to cancel, due to a change of personal circumstances and moreover, having visited the building and finding it "not as described" (something which is very much in the T&Cs as a golden rule). I've tried to explain to them over the phone (apparently there is no dispute team you can reach over the phone) and this has resulted in a long email thread of accusatory messaging where they've said that as I can't provide evidence (I'm being ghosted by Katherine Hübner, the owner) I'm not entitled to a refund. They've got my messages that I've deliberately kept on the platform rather than moving any communication over email, and that still doesn't seem to be enough. I did the right thing in every instance; was fair, transparent and obliging, offering ways for them to help support my claim. These were all refused.
And it was bad as it looks in the pictures: a converted office was being put up in one of the rougher areas of Hamburg, and frankly shouldn't have been let anywhere near the site anyway. There's no vetting process, like other platforms (ie. Spotahome) and there's no adequate customer service (like Airbnb, where it's a straight up, no frills "customer is always right" experience). They've taken my money and run, simply put.
I've lost nearly 1000 Euros to this sham of a site, with its T&Cs which they seem to interpret as they please. I'm in the process of seeking legal help and have issued a chargeback but it feels unlikely that I'll ever get my money back. I don't want others to fall prey to this and want people to know that there's solidarity in this absolutely horrific experience which I've been trying to appeal for over a month now.
I love to travel, especially I do not miss the moment to visit the cities of Europe. What a beautiful city of Vienna, an unforgettable collection of memories. On the way online I made a quick reservation for an apartment in Mayerhofgasse, and most importantly I was satisfied with my choice. For traveling students, first of all, a special role in the journey is played by who you travel with. The courtesy of the staff is an important argument that made our holiday comfortable and cozy.

Absolutely do not book through housing anywhere! They don't check whether the advertiser is the landlord and has the permissions to rent a room and they don't protect from scam.
I booked a room and paid my money almost 2 months before moving to Munich, the advertiser was not answering my emails (although she was really fast when accepting my booking and my money), so I contacted HA to make sure it was no scam, they told me that I unfortunately could not cancel my booking anymore and that I should just wait for her to answer. After sending many many emails to the advertiser (because I was never given her phone number) and calling the agency I could finally speak to her and she assured me that everything was fine and she was waiting for me. I could finally relax and I was just ready to move when, less than 2 weeks before the move, I received a call from her telling me that she didn't have the permission to rent the room and that I had to find another solution (she was not the actual landlord but she was illegally subletting a room). She also informed me that Housing Anywhere told her that I should be the one contacting them about the situation. Long story short: they were trying to make it seem that I was the one cancelling the booking, so that they could keep the service fee. When I discovered their game I insisted that they would refund me fully since there was no reason to keep my money or I would sue them and I finally received the money back. However, I had to look for another solution in less than 2 weeks (which is really difficult to do in cities like Munich).
In my opinion, this situation is very bad for such an agency, not only because they should check that the advertiser actually has the permission to rent a room, but also because they should protect who trusts them with their time and money instead of trying to earn from these difficult situations. I should have asked a refund also for the sleeplessness of these two weeks and the stressed that they all have caused me.

HousingAnywhere.com accepts no liability for the accuracy of the user contact information entered on the platform.
