“Much improved”

Cee G.

I wrote a negative review a while ago but they have made huge strides. And they've been renamed (merger? Acquisition?) as "Centerwell" which has so far been flawless. I'm going to give them five stars this time because of the excellent communications they are now doing.

“Poor Response”

On line I requested a rx transfer to centerwell. They sent an email stating a call. No call. Took me 4 calls, several people and at least an hour to finally get a response and person from pharmacy to rectify.

Yesterday, I chatted online with a Humana advocate trying to expedite the processing and refill of my anhypertensive by 4 days ahead of schedule. I was running out 4 days early as I had increased the number of pills I took on my doctor's advice because of persistently elevated blood pressures on the lower dose. The advocate refused to process the refill 4 days early and instead would only recommend time-wasting alternative procedures, despite being aware that I would soon run out. The antihypertensive is not an abusable medication and has no street value. At $0.03 per pill, Humana was arguing over 8 tablets - an expense of $0.18 total.
I was sufficiently frustrated that I subsequently called back to speak to customer service to complain about a policy that I considered stupid and inflexible. Each time I called I was disconnected by Humana as soon I stated that I wanted to voice a complaint.
Humana provides a low cost alternative for prescriptions. However, you get what you pay for. Only use their pharmacy if you want to interact with user-unfriendly passive aggressive staff in case an issue arrises.

I recently joined Humana Pharmacy because they have better prices than other prominent pharmacies. However, while they seem to be quick in delivering your medications, their billing department is in need of a complete overhaul. They quickly billed me 3 times for the same order but are dragging their feet in refunding me the overcharge.

Tip for consumers:
Check your bank account immediately after completing order and payment.

CenterWell Pharmacy

1. Terrible customer service. Spoke to 3 agents by phone (only 1 was helpful) and to 1 by chat (who intentionally and abruptly ended chat without notice). Took about 3 hours total

2. Hidden policies. Policies aren't communicated anywhere in online ordering system, like limits on # of items. You can order a large quantity, order is confirmed, then later you receive cancellation with no explanation. I had many cancelled orders and only learned why after contacting them.

3. Awful practices. Website clearly says that OTC spending allowance needs to be used by December 31. We placed our final online order on December 26,2023, to use up remaining allowance for 2023 before December 31. CenterWell shipped the items in January 2024 and deducted from 2024 allowance. So we lost part of our allowance from 2023, because they didn't deduct the orders placed in 2023 from our 2023 allowance, and we now are already down in our 2024 allowance, even though we have not ordered anything in 2024! The website clearly says that funds do not roll over after December 31, but evidently CenterWell can deduct at their discretion. The only answer I received pointed to wording available ONLY in the print catalog that shows a December 20 deadline for submitting orders by MAIL. The wording is not found on online ordering site NOR does it say it applies to online orders. Following is the exact wording from mail-order catalog that customer service used to explain why our online shopping order placed in 2023 was deducted from the 2024 balance (capitalization added by me):

"For all members: MAIL AND FAX
Due to added time to receive your request by MAIL, we encourage you to allow extra time when placing your order. If you have a monthly allowance, submit your order by the 20th of each month. If you have a quarterly allowance, submit your order by the 20th of the last month of your allowance period. Last month of quarters are March, June, September, and December."

Verified purchase

So my default pharmacy was Walmart. I have never had a prescription go correctly at Walmart. If you stand in line for 45min to be told they need to verify come back in an hour or so. Humana said they would send me 3 months at a time mailed to the house. That sounds good till they start Robo calling you 6-7 times a day. Try to call them and there is no option to speak to a person! Then there automated system says I am sorry I didn't understand so it hangs up on you. I have several as needed prescriptions. They dont like that. They ask in you want your prescription if you say no then the automated system tells your your doctor has prescribed this medicine for you and you need to take your prescriptions but its not to late are you sure you want to not order now? If you say no they again tell you your doctor wants you taking your prescription. Then if you say no it will call you daily for your prescription you don't need.
Now they say I owe them money. Please pay your humana bill. I tried on line but they won't take payments online!. I tried on the app but is says I need to register so I do they they say I am already registered. So I ask my user name. They say I am not registered. Under no circumstances would they send your medicine with out you paying first. I will pay the $3 to cancel them. This year has been the abosulte worst perscritions with Humana I have ever had. They are the absolute worst prescription insurance I believe in the United States!

Tip for consumers:
Dont use them! Any other company would be better!

I am a academic physician with 45 years clinical experience. Humana Specialty Pharmacy intentionally subverts delivery of expensive biologics. Dropped calls. No call backs. Spanish only choice on Specialty Pharmacy line *******668). I files complaint with BBB. This generated a 8PM Saturday night call from Humana Rep who was rude and "could not find any record to corroborate my complaint. Wait a minute, your calls all begin with "You are on a recorded line". Fraud. The insurance broker who sold Humana to our state received a huge commission ( read:" kickback"). I am certain that Humana holds in service training on creating roadblocks for high price medications. Bad apples? No, a bad barrel which rots good apples. My advice to organizations next year: self insure. Save 30%. Keep your employees happy. Make insurance brokers unemployed. Long term for the US: Single Payer National Health Insurance. Socialism? No, sanity. Insanity in the current system along with hydroxychloroqine and bleach for COVID and space lasers causing wildfires

Tip for consumers:
Drop Humana. Report them to state insurance commissioner and CMS

I have Humana home Pharmacy Delivery. Have 3 prescriptions. They sent notice to re new high blood pressure Rx So I clicked OK before changing delivery address as we would be at vacation home during winter. This was Jan 20th. So I called immediately. They said not a problem to send to address in Nevada. They lied.
As I was running out I called again Feb 10th. They sent to wrong address so needing the Rx I asked if they could send me a 30 day supply. After waiting on line 20 minutes lady came back and said No problem. It will arrive in about 5 days
THEY LIED
Now out of my Rx and no new refill I called again. Asked if they would just OK a refill at Wal Mart and I would get it. NO was the response After 20 minutes and talking to two people they agreed to the 30 day supply and apologized for the screw up. Stated they would over night it at no cost to me because it was their error.
THEYT LIED a 3rd time
Got a tracking number and it was sent regular mail. So now 4 days without high blood pressure medicine, they lied, lied, lied and also refused to OK a Rx for me to pick up...
So what ever you do DO NOT get Humana Pharmacy or home delivery. They just don't care. They put my health and life at risk because they are liars or incompetent.
Once I get this Rx I will refuse to use Humana home Pharmacy again and at end of year look for another RX plan that does not use over seas phone banks, liars or morons to help

I've tried three times to get medication from these folks and three times they tell me they will send it.
Doesn't happen.
How much worse can they be?

Products used:
None actually. They just don’t send me my meds despite many promises to the contrary. It’s disappointing, and surprising, how inept they are.
I do like the medical insurance (Advantage Plan), but this on line pharmacy is awful.

I've been on Medicare and Humana since January 1,2021. Prior to that I used Express Scripts which was great. I have had continuous problems since I started using Humana Pharmacy. I find their web site difficult to navigate and to understand. I'm supposed to get $75 per quarter for over-the-counter (OTC) supplies. When I attempted to select and place my first online OTC order the web site apparently timed out (no warning) and dropped me so I had to log on again and re-enter my order (web site did not indicate the items were ordered twice). I received my first order but when I tried to order my 2nd quarter OTC (in April) the website said I had $0.00 available for OTC. I called Humana Pharmacy on 04/08/21 and spoke with "JR" for 40 minutes. During the call the web site dropped me and I had to log in again. Now it said my available OTC was $75.00 but JR said his screen said $0.00. While speaking with JR he informed me that I had an order in progress (not initiated by me and not shown on the web site) that took my OTC balance to $0.00. Further discussion revealed this "in progress" order was exactly the same things that I already ordered and received for my 1st quarter OTC. JR told me this order had already shipped and that I should just keep the duplicate items. He agreed that I had only order these items once and quantities indicated one each. He would have to escalate the problem. I have not heard anything further from Humana to date. My case number is **************. In the past few days I received an email from Humana Pharmacy saying they are processing my automatic refill (not related to the OTC problem already discussed), great I thought. So I checked my current supply of the refill item and decided I would like to delay shipping the auto refill for a week or so (refrigerated insulin). So I log in to the Humana Pharmacy website to change the ship date but I saw no obvious way to make this change. Express Scripts makes it simple to do this and also includes information about this in their "we're processing your automatic refill" email. I'm very dissatisfied with Humana Pharmacy and am seriously thinking of changing back to Express Scripts if I can (Humana/Medicare allowable).

Tip for consumers:
I would not suggest using Humana Pharmacy.

I ORDERED TWO SQUEEZABLE TUBES OF LIP TREATMENT& WAS SENT TWO LITTLE CONTAINERS that one must dip fingers into. I think this very gross& becauseI'm limited to use of one hand, will not use these, soI chatted to get corrected. I just received the"corrected" order in mail& now I have four of the wrong item! This is s'posedly under the $75 OTCallowancebut looks likeI've been charged for 4 wrong items& never received the correct items. Ithis was my test to see if I should trust my prescriptions through them, but if they can't handle such a simple thing as thisthank goodness my prescriptions are not on the line! Not goodat all! Thank you.The 75 OTC is s'posed to help defray costs of OTC but I'll need to order these from WalmartasI did an earlier item that was not whatI ordered either [wet wipes]. It's a use it or lose it benefit, but nowI must figure in time lost on itemsI may need sooner& so no real savings&I know we're all paying for the supposed"benefit" some way.

I am on a cancer medication requiring a specialty pharmacy mail order service. My husband works for Albertsons's and we used Albertsons's Specialty Pharmacy for this medication. The cash price for my prescription is $14,000. Luckily Albertsons's Specialty Pharmacy helped to bring down my almost $2000 copay to zero. Unfortunately after November of 2020 MedImpact (our prescription insurance) switched all specialty pharmacy to Humana. I was supposed to start my cancer medication refill on December 21st. Today is January 1,2021 and I STILL haven't received my medication. I was told that when they do get the prescription that it'll be a minimum of 72 hours before it is shipped out because they have to input the prescription into the system, then the information goes to the financial department, afterwards it's returned to be filled, then they'll contact me to confirm the info, and finally they will mail it out to me. Also, when I asked if Humana could help me out financially like Albertsons's had done the woman told me that I should call Albertson's and ask what programs they had available that offered assistance and call them back with that information. WHAT? I guess the saying "You never know what have until it's gone" is true. Albertson's went above and beyond... superb customer service. It's strange to me that my pharmacy records were transferred from Albertson's to Humana but they failed totransfer any prescriptions. I told Humana that both Albertsons's Specialty Pharmacy and my regular retail pharmacy had a 6 month prescription for my medication available for transfer. I was told they didn't call and get transfers that I needed to call the pharmacy that had my prescription and tell that pharmacist to call them so they could fill my prescription. Weird all the way around... Very frustrated. It's sad, I guess I'm stuck the Humana Specialty Pharmacy Staff. I don't feel like they are earning their paycheck. I hope their raises depend on customer service surveys. Maybe then they will go the extra mile.
