Instacart offers a convenient grocery delivery service, allowing me to shop from my favorite stores without leaving home. Whether I need fresh produce, pantry staples, or specialty items, Instacart delivers everything I need with reliable service and fast delivery. I appreciate the flexibility of scheduling delivery windows and the option to communicate with my shopper in real-time. Instacart has become a lifesaver, especially during busy weeks
I had to wait on hold for 35 minutes before the problem with my order was addressed. The shopper delivered someone else's order. I'm not upset about that - nobody is perfect. What is outrageous to me is the time I had to spend on-hold waiting for a person in the "delivery mistakes" deptartment to get on the line. The person who answered my call was not allowed to take care of the problem, whether rescheduled delivery or refund, so I had to be punished with a long wait on the phone. When the wrong order delivered person finally got on the line, they rescheduled my delivery for tomorrow and promised some discounts or free delivery or something else because I had a hard time understanding what she was saying. For all the money I spend in a year with Instacart, I would expect far better customer service than this!
HORRIFIC service - and they take zero responsibility for it! I made an order that was picked, and then the shopper "could not complete the transaction" (even though I had already been charged $90!). Hours later another shopper got my order (i got charged another $90) and when they eventually showed up 3 hours late, he claimed they had been told to get the wrong items. He left and then returned 1 hour later with a partial order. Instacart refused to assist me and offered $5 to make it better.
Tip for consumers:
I would go right through your local grocery store, most all the big ones have a cheaper and more efficient delivery service or a shopper pick up option - sometimes it is FREE!
Bad experience! They not only charged me more than the receipt showed the first time I tried them, nothing was explained clearly about any extra fees, etc.
On top of that, then all of a sudden I get an email saying they charged my credit card for $149.00 for a membership I NEVER AGREED TO! They may have had it in very fine print, but their practices are very deceptive. I will never use them again.
Showed up 3 hours after the "latest" window waking up my kids. I got no updates about status. When I called customer service they offered me a credit for a future order. Really disappointed because I liked the idea of this service.
83% of my items were replaced with no communication to be before hand. Many replacements made no sense ie. Two packets of powdered onion dip replaced with a tub of ranch dip? The actual store receipt total was $400 but Instacart charged me 428. And also charged &3.99 delivery fee. 5% service fee ($21), and 5% tip ( my choice) ($21). So my $400 grocery bill cost me $474. When Instacart replied to my question about the overcharging of my grocery items they gave me a bunch of hogwash via email. Never never again.
I was charged $99 out of the blue. Haven't shopped IC for over a year. I received a "Thanks for signing up! Welcome!" email. Either it's fraud and I was hacked -OR- the fraudulent practices are from IC activating an old account. (It was not an automated annual renewal.) Tried repeatedly to get help through "24/7 Customer Service". Worst automated prompt choices ever, and the ones I did use weren't working properly. (Tried 2 browsers to see if it would help-same results.) FINALLY got through to "chat" but only received automated answers so I don't believe I reached a human. Reply received stated refund would come in 8-10 business days or "maybe" 1-2. I want my account Deactivated for security reasons.
Tip for consumers:
I did shop during Covid but this is about a fraudulent charge and the lack of help

I shopped Costco.com who uses Instacart to do their same day delivery. Site disclosed that online prices may be higher than in store prices, but I never thought the prices would be 29% higher than the store! This is robbery and dishonest pricing. The In store price of the items I bought were $125.00 and Instacart charged me $160.00. I think it should be disclosed that prices may be up to 29% higher or something like that. Only then can a customer know what they are about to get into. "May be higher" doesn't not tell the story, 29% higher is an outrageous mark up. And I tipped the driver! Never again, will I use Instacart and I will tell everyone who will listen the facts of what happened to me. Also Costco is not harmless in this. I placed my order via my Costco app and I was not aware I would be charged so much more.
I have do instacart for several months. Do not waste your time. Final was yesterday when they did not give me credit for work completed. There is no email or number to contact the company, when you do the email addresses and numbers do not work.
You can get an order and drive 20 miles one way for no extra fee. It's a scam
Way too expensive all hidden charges and plus they expect you put high tip o notice.
On all my receipts was all hidden charges that added up to another 53.00 you kidding me high way robbery I rather go to the store and get the virus getting robbed
Tip for consumers:
Don’t shop here unless you have lots of extra money to waste they over charge twice on delivery fees service fees, tips too expensive

I ordered at 6:40 pm, for the first time ever, and to my surprise, I got free express service, 7:40-9:40 delivery window. Great! Well, the shopper waited til the last minute, and the store was closed. Order cancelled. So, I tried ordering from another store, just before midnight. My delivery window was from 3-5 the next day. I started my game of phone chase at 5:26, trying to catch humans, being told to call others, looking on websites, etc. Finally, I got through to a human at on the phone, at instacart, 6:30, and they blamed a glitch in the grocery store's website. They claim the order never came through, and they CAN'T assign a shopper, I CAN'T resubmit the shopping list without repaying for it, and the refund may take 5-10 business days. That's my grocery money. I expected food today. Not in 5-10 days, when I get my money back, but today. Luckily, the refund came through immediately, my bank is a good one. Long winded way of saying, first time I tried it, gave it 2 shots at 2 different stores, both unsuccessful. I give up. I guess I'll go to the store myself.

I got my order from Costco. Three items. They over the prices per item by 15%. The total for three items was for $42.58 and tax, but they charged me $48.97. The delivery was for $5.99 and a $2.45 service fee. Also the service fee use to optional, but it is required now.
They charged me $60.97 for $42.58 groceries.
This price is ridiculous. Also, do not buy vegetables or fruit using this service. Often they did a poor job picking these items.
I will cancel my membership. I was charged $9.38 for a pack of chicken tenders by insta but on the meat Dept sticker on the chicken it was $7.11. That is outrageous! I can see. 50 or $1 to add. Also this is not the only item they increase the price on and I pay $99/yr for the service. I have not paid attention so closely but now that I know I have stopped using them. Shopped in store the other day and came home loaded each item into insta as if I were going to order. One pack of chicken was $4 more that the one I purchased. Same weight! The other pack was just over $2 more and they were all 1lb?
Tip for consumers:
I like instacart for the convenience but they need to CLEARLY show what mark up people are paying and be more transparent. I will now shop in person or thru the stores own apps. Some of the store apps don't mark up but not sure which ones yet

I placed 3 orders over the course of a week with instacart. Only one order had correct pricing. Instacart indicates that the retailer might elect to charge more for items sold thru instacart... one one order the sales receipt from the store which was delivered with the order showed instacart overcharging me on 3 of the 4 items. When contacted their outsourced customer service told me it was there service mark up. But that's not what the policy says and they also charge a service charge separate, delivery charge and an alcohol fee. On top of overcharging on the item. Customer service put m. J e on eternal hold and repeated emails to corporate go unanswered. The other order they charged me for multiple items sellable or received or on the retailer's receipt!
They include a 10% service fee that they say it's voluntary, but you can't delete it. Forget about any sales, the buyers won't care. It would be nice if there's an option to include the discount card if the store or something similar. But they don't want that because they will loose profit form the optional service fee prepare to have a markup of 30%. Thieves.
Recently I placed an order to Ralph's for delivery. Upon receiving my goods my 2 bottles of liquor bottles broke... The funny part is I've been a loyal customer with insta cart for awhile... So they say they won't credit me for my damaged liquor... I don't understand how they run their business an be so full of $#*!!
Boy, am I sorry that I did not read all of the negative reviews before using this (non)service. It's a large scam. STAY AWAY! Short story... I ordered 4 cases of water that I needed for the next day for a business meeting. No one contacted me to say that they did not have the 4 case. Someone just showed up with 2 cases. Mind you, They charged my card for the 4 and added a little extra to the authorization in case I had decided to add to my order. They did find the time to tell me that and that it will take 7 to 10 business days to refund the difference but after reading some of the reviews, I am not hopeful for that either. The point is that I was trying to save myself some time. Now, I have to scurry around tomorrow morning and buy those 2 cases for a lunch meeting anyway. I should have just gone out and bought 4 cases from the very beginning. INSTACART = USELESS.
I have had some great drivers in the past that have made great effort to deliver my items. I have recently had a few drivers that should not be allowed to deliver for this company. I get story short, my
Last driver must've been really hungry because they purchased a ton of snacks for themselves on my dime that I did not authorize. They must've been thirsty as well because they took 4 bottles of water from my 32 pack. There's no accountability because this company doesn't allow you to rate their drivers so even though I have complained about my recent experience, they are still employing this thief so they can do this to others. Carefully check every receipt if u use this service. There's a definite scam going on.
I have been trying to work for instacart for 3 months. Every other week they take me off and deactivate my amount. I get no reason why after sending 19 emails and speaking with there rude staff. Trust and Safety suck. They say 3-5 days response, I'm still waiting after 3 weeks plus just to find out what happened to my account. You can never make money. This is the worse shopping app ever. They have no time frames and not if they did they wouldn't follow them. Sad really this big company can't even get the $#*! together. Stay clear of them all together.
Tip for consumers:
The people on the chat extremely rude!!

None , I was trying to be a shopper. Won't do it for them and won't be using them to shop for me.
The reason for the "incompetent" service is that Instacart exploits it's workforce and as a former member of said workforce, I can tell you in all honesty that many of us have lost respect for this company. It's focus is on the bottom line for THEM and there is little to no culture of respect for either the workers or the customers. They are the epitome of our current narcissistic culture which puts personal and monetary gain above quality and human values.
Yes if you can afford it, it's convenient but know that there is little integrity in this organization.
The worst! Five times we've attempted deliveries from Publix, with not one single item ever delivered. They just randomly change your delivery date at a whim, and do not notify you. Delayed one delivery by three weeks- the night before the originally promised date. They are a mess! Do NOT depend on them, ever. You will be sorely disappointed.
Instacart is a total Rip Off! They over charge you on eVery item (please see image of receipt to compare what it ACTUALLY cost vs what they are charging), they double-tax you!. They cancel items that I needed (i ordered them for a reason), and / or replaced with items that are more expensive / not organic, etc and charge me more. I'm glad this service is available, but every time i've used it I've had to write them to complain. And they haven't done much about it. I would NOT recommend Instacart.
How is this business still in business omg beyond frustrated they continued to steal money after stopping the 9.99 membership fee! This business is ridiculous and no one knows what's going on! Zero stars
I do not recommend this company. They are never on time. I am always told no longer then 2 hours and always end up waiting 4 hours or more. I could go to the store myself and be back less then an hour. This is a waist of money and time.
I know it's a busy time, but what does it take to get an order correct? On 2 separate occasions (2 different stores) I was charged for items I did not get. In one case it was over $25, and it has been 5 days since I reported the problem. You pay a service fee, a tip, premium prices, and get a headache in return. What a deal?!?!?!
The service was OK (basically no complaints) until they charged me twice in February for the Instacart Express monthly subscription ($14.99 twice).
I called their customer service several times only to be told that "on their side" everything is correct, and finally - that my only recourse is to file a dispute with my bank over the charge (which I did).
Everything seemed fine until they cancelled my Instacart account online last week (end of March) - for filing the dispute! When I mentioned to the customer service that I have no other way of shopping at Whole Foods because I don't have a car, I was told to look for a cab service in my area (that would be ~$30.00 here if the cab doesn't have to wait for me to do my shopping).
At this point, I am being blackmailed (I don't have any other term for it) by them to drop the dispute, or they will keep my account closed 'til the end of June.
It seems that the E-mails are written not by a real person but by a computer!
I ordered 10 boxes of bottled water for next day delivery, and I received only 3, the driver didn't know why, he said the order was to deliver only 3 boxes. Contacted their Customer Service and they were of no help at all. Stay away from this service.
