If you are into learning and improving your knowledge about user experience the right way, this is the place. I have had a very good understanding of processes and many years of experience as a product designer, but I still learned a ton here. Their courses are on different levels. They all have depth. It's not always easy to keep up and stay on track if you start too many courses at once - like I did, but this is your part of a job to balance. For the price, you get unlimited possibilities of what you'll do with it, many, many courses that will improve your knowledge if you pay attention to it. It's just the matter of how you use this source.
I joined for the full year membership thinking I would be taking courses specifically in UX Design. That was not the case. I have a bachelors degree in digital design. The courses offered covered material that every designer learns, not anything specifically to UX design. In fact, all it took was one trip to Barnes and Noble to find numerous books, from numerous authors, and numerous publishers, on UX design that contained information very different from what the courses at IDF offer. The site is great if you want to become a designer in general, (graphic designer, production designer, visual designer, etc.) but does nothing to prepare you to delve into UX design itself. It also is not self-paced has advertised. You have to wait week after week to progress through the courses just like you would in a college classroom, each one taking 4 to 6 weeks. Inside the courses themselves, I found myself routinely answering the same essay questions over and over again. In other words, they would ask the same question a different way several times. Which is fine if you are doing multiple choice, but these were essay questions. So it was infuriating to have to write the same essay question answer over and over again. And the "certification" is through LinkedIn... NOT an academic institution. Its in the fine print after you sign up. LinkedIn.com is a website... NOT a school, college, or institution. The only place this certification is accredited for is LinkedIn's website. That is clearly not what people are lead to believe when signing up. In other words, this is NOT accredited by any means.

I was the owner and CEO of an internet software firm. I have always been intrigued by good designs in both physical and software products.
This course has given me valuable insights into the philosophy and techniques of good designs. I now firmly believe that great designs stemmed from a sincere interest in understanding the needs of the users. Techniques are important, however, without genuine user empathy, they are nothing more than putting lipstick on a pig.
Interactional Design Foundation has made an important contribution in teaching good designs to both its members as well as society in general.
Hi Victor,
Thanks so much for the feedback. As you mentioned, we focus on timeless design principles, and that's the philosophy we use to develop our courses, masterclasses, bootcamps, and all our educational materials. We're happy to know that you've found our material useful in your career.
Best,
Rikke Friis Dam of the Interaction Design Foundation
I joined in my career early days, and learned a lot of things while I was working. It was very common to have a tab open for quick consulting, and also studying with their courses. Now, almost 4 years later, I'm mid-to-senior UX Designer, and back for the more advanced courses and masterclasses.
I highly recommend the Interaction Design Foundation.

The courses contain interesting and valuable information and insights but I would have liked them to be more action-based with more clear steps hon how to implement these insights in a certain product or service.
Hi Gio,
Thanks so much for the feedback; we really appreciate it. We're introducing more practical exercises through all our courses. This has been our main focus in the courses we have already released this year, as well as the courses we'll release soon. We've also put a lot of effort into creating more video-based content to strike the perfect balance, and I hope you will notice soon.:-)

My learning experience at Interaction Design Foundation (IxDF) has thus far surpassed my expectations. I found their courses to be of a fundamental nature. They not only deepened my understanding about the specific subjects, but about design in general. While the courses are largely theoretical and by no means easy, as I practice design now, I feel empowered by my new learning — a great feeling!
IxDF is a positive, inspiring space that makes learning interesting, affordable, flexible, accessible and egalitarian. IxDF staff has been very supportive and responsive every time I contacted them. I would highly recommend their courses to anyone looking at deepening their understanding about design in the digital domain.
Tip for consumers:
The courses require a lot of time and energy (and revisions, IMHO), so be prepared.
Hi Mayank,
Thank you so much for sharing your review with us! The title of your review definitely made our day better. Thank you so much for your kind words about us, it means a lot. Oh, and do not forget that you can always reach us if you need anything:-)
All the best
Rikke Friis Dam of the Interaction Design Foundation.
I began classes with Interaction Design Foundation in 2018. I am a graphic designer and work in print, digital and animation for nearly 20 years. I wanted to increase my knowledge of the UX side of the design industry and found their courses to be a great way of doing so. I was enrolled for about a year and a half and I completed 5 certification courses during that time. I found their lessons to be very in-depth and enjoyed the academic nature of the writing and subject matter. Rather than focus on trends or technology (that fade) they discussed more overarching design tenets and the timeless aspects of practicing UX.
Hi Craig,
Thanks for the review and congratulations on the certificates! You certainly put that year of membership to good use.:-)
Warm regards,
Rikke Friis Dam of the Interaction Design Foundation
I have been a member of the Interaction Design Foundation for a while but only just completed my first course - Human-computer Interaction: Foundation of UX Design.
Overall, it was a great experience. The course content was up to date, and I especially liked how motion design was used in conjunction with video to make the content more relatable and engaging.
I was fascinated by the history of computing and the evolution of tech in general and how its impact on our daily lives grew over time.
I learned the importance of making informed decisions about how users interact with products and systems. The course also covered the fundamental principles of screen design, emphasizing the importance of accessibility and cultural differences as key considerations. As case studies, we explored real-world products, delving into their user experience and evaluating the thought process behind the design decisions.
Hi Mustapha,
Thank you for sharing such great feedback.
We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your first course with us and enjoyed the experience. We work so hard to create courses that are not just text-based; we mix examples, videos and screenshots to keep our learners engaged and accommodate different learning preferences:-)
We are confident that you can now consider the fundamental principles of screen design, accessibility and cultural differences- all learned in HCI, as key factors in your daily design projects.
We hope you will continue to explore our other courses and master classes and, most of all, use the knowledge acquired to make a dent in the universe.
Very best,
Rikke Friis Dam of the Interaction Design Foundation
So many up-to-date courses to choose from! IxDF wanted to maximize your subscription by regularly sending emails to give tips on how to delegate time in order to progress on your enrolled courses.
The people behind IxDF are real people who sympathize and are prompt on addressing concerns, indeed user experience is one of their priorities.
I highly recommend this platform to professionals who want to advance their technical competencies. Busy ones have a place to learn here.

I am subscribed on IDF for 5 years now and it helped me accelerate as a designer so much. I highly recommend it to all individuals but also to companies to invest in educating their people, (not only designers).
Hi Iva,
Thank you so much for your recommendation! Seeing that you’ve been with us for 5 years makes us incredibly happy, and we sincerely appreciate you being part of our fantastic community for so long!:-)
And, thank you for pointing out how our platform would benefit not only individuals but companies as well– even those who don’t specialize in UX Design. We truly believe design thinking makes the world go round. ;)
I hope you continue making great progress with the IxDF!
Warm regards,
Rikke Friis Dam of the Interaction Design Foundation
I recently completed the Design for the 21st Century by Don Norman in Interaction Design Foundation. I am also pursuing other courses right now.
IxDF has a great collection of courses that caters to every aspect of design and very well-structured content, some from top leaders in the design world. And all this without being too expensive. The courses have a mix of multi-choice questions and essays to test our knowledge which I feel helped me understand the context better. And finally, the quick support provided by the team helped me through the questions when I had any.
Tip for consumers:
There are a variety of courses available. I would recommend to choose based on your current situation, what you need to improve on and what can be practically implemented at your organisation.

I just earned my first certificate. It was a pleasure to listen to Dan Norman's friendly talk. He explains very well how to work on global issues as a designer and how to be effective on them. While listening to him, it is possible to realize the big picture we are in. It definitely broads up horizon. I am so excited to take other courses too. There is a booking system so courses are not available all the time. It give the feeling that it is live so you dont debt to take a lot of courses at a time. It is possible to see new course each day and each course subject is very interesting. I highly recommend!

Hi Duygu,
Thank you for the fantastic feedback:-)
Congratulations on earning your first certificate!
I’m also delighted you enjoyed Don Norman’s courses and learned much from him. He is certainly one of our best instructors and a voice to reckon with in the design field. I agree that his courses help us realize the impact of design on global issues and how we can use our skills to make a difference.
Networking is a large part of our value proposition, so we want “just the right amount” of people inside the courses. Thank you for recommending our platform:-)
I hope you continue to have a wonderful learning experience with us.

The field of design is gaining more and more visibility and that's for the best, but it also comes with the drawback of finding more and more articles on websites, blogs, social media … so that it can be difficult to know which one to rely on.
When I read a course or an article on Interaction Design Foundation, I know it has been written by an expert and reviewed by peers. I can also understand where the information comes from and keep digging on a topic thanks to the references and links provided. In a word, they are professional, and that's what I have always appreciated about them.
Hi Vincent,
Thank you for your kind review! I'm so happy you've decided to put your trust in the IxDF! Our team puts in an enormous amount of effort to curate high-quality courses, Master Classes, and content in congruence with real UX professionals.:-)

There's a variety of content to choose from, that covers many niches in the industry.
The way the content is laid out is great too. It is engaging, contains videos and quizzes, and you can jump right in from where you left off.
The staff are also helpful and quick to respond to questions.

The Interaction Design Foundation reminds me of the Art School where I studied Graphic Design almost 20 years ago, very clear content, full of valuable material with not waste. I feel very comfortable with the way they structure the classes, and there is no rush, you can learn at your own rhythm. They keep track of your progress and look after you to make you keep going an learning.

Coming from a totally different background, I took this course hoping to get a little knowledge on all aspects of digital design that you see in today's world. But i can't stress enough this point that this course is the one and only reason that helped me in making up my mind to decide my final goal, to become a UX Designer. To be honest, I am really forever grateful for all the IDF community members who made me what i am today. Of course you did your part in taking care of my career completely, now its up to me to keep moving forward. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience, and I am hoping to learn more new courses from IDF.
I discovered IDF while I was without a job and so I had the time to upgrade my skills, but also a small budget. I came across IDF and I decided to give them a chance. I'm a designer for almost 10 years and I found here a lot of good content to expand my knowledge of contemporary subjects. I really loved the Design Thinking course as a great starter! What's even better is that there is a huge community following the same courses; people who are really motivated and active. There are also meet up organized around the major cities across the globe, that's awesome to enrich your local network. Of course, as each training, there is a lot more you can learn by yourself thanks to the great bibliography related to each theme. Very complete courses and well documented to do your work too, this is very helpful with my kind of learning process. I Highly recommended!
I found about this site through a satisfied friend of mine. And I am so glad!
I took part in one course for UX. The materials were so thoughtfully prepared, that the learning was really pleasant. The platform itself is also really nice and easy to use. It presents a lot of opportunities vone to take part in different groups in the community, to make contacts or to find a job.
Now I am looking forward for the next course.

The courses provided by IDF are extremely good and provide a comprehensive study for those who wanna pursue UX design as a full time career. It's not just about the fundamentals but the way they've organized it that turns out to be helpful for everyone, from beginners to experts. The assignments are pretty good and the community is really helpful to get your doubts sorted. Moreover, all members ( Rikke to be specific) were really kind to understand my issue and provide me with every possible help during my journey. Would highly recommend you all to sign up for it.
Tip for consumers:
Do the course along with other students when it's live instead of keeping a backlog. That's more helpful in terms of progress, interaction with fellow students and overall grades in the course.

I am really satisfied with the Interaction Design Foundation. The course are high qualified and well done. A timely assistance is provided. The research based approach is giving me the possibility to understand why good design works. There are optional questions, which provide educational value and to take part into the discussion forum. The learning mix between video and reading lessons allows me to learn in a different way. The Distinction system is great to build a strong motivation. I have created a facebook group with the official support of the IDF: https://www.facebook.com/groups/uxdesignvorarlberg
