You get sucked by seeing them pop up as an alternative means of payment only to realize when you've lost your money that they just want to middle men for a transaction you can easily sort out yourself. So where the shop you're buying from offers free shipping they will charge you for it and take it as theirs, this is on top of other fees they charge normally for their services. And they have a very poor customer service as they do not respond to enquiries, they deserve to be investigated or sued

I placed an order from Motherhood.com through International checkout because Motherhood.com doesn't let me use my International credit card. So I thought I need to go through this international side. With trusting Motherhood.com I placed the order through them and have the item shipped to and USA address, because they convert the price to my country's currency I didn't realize the cost of the shipping was $60 USD at the time I place the order (which was a weekend) until I received my email and did the calculation and found out the shipping was crazy. I tried to contact the company which I couldn't reach anyone. By the time they replied they first said they will try to cancel the order... then wrote you an email later said sorry the order has been shipped so no way they can change it. I complained once through email with no reply so I called the company, the customer service guy only tell you... you agreed on the sale we can't do anything about it... and the order as been placed and shipped. So pretty much they are just telling you to suck it up and they will not do anything for you.
I tried to call Motherhood and see if I can find the order, they said they don't have any record of it...
I have shopped online for all this year, this has to be the worst experience ever.
So, hope people are smart enough to Google International Checkout before they place the order. But I think mostly people start Googling when they got ripped off by them.

Ordered through a merchant using international checkout. An order that should have arrived within 3 business days is now going into 3rd week. DO NOT USE this shipping service. Worst ever.

I purchased some flags from a U.S. store on Sept 25th. Canadian customs/duty was included in the cost plus any applicable taxes. I needed the flags on October 10th, needless to say, they did not arrive until October 19th. Not only that but there was a C. O. D of $14, bringing my total costs up to the $74 mark. Fortunately I was able to find the same flags at a local store for $33 after tax when I knew the IC delivery would miss my required date.
The moral of the story is that IC is overpriced, with additional fees that should not be present and their service is simply too slow. A package from California to Canada should take no more than 5-7 days using snail mail. It's absolutely unacceptable that a package using express post would take almost 30 days to arrive.
I do business with American companies all the time, and I'm in Toronto Canada. Regular mail often takes a day or two at the most to get packages from NYC or Chicago to Toronto and vice versa. Los Angles is usually 3 days, maybe 4. International Checkout somehow turns that into 26 days.
I've advised my partner's, and others to avoid any business using this service, it's simply inefficient and expensive. There's no other explanation, and all these positive reviews are likely IC employees boosting the numbers based on a lack of detail and magical 5 star reviews.
In the end avoid IC, they're too slow ACD inefficient, always avoid a middleman.

I purchased a dress in Bebe.com and because it was international... when I purchase the item and checkout I was drived to international checkout. I thought that was part of bebe but after a couple of days without receiving any confirmation I realized they were independent... I tried to contact them many times to see what would be the status of my order and I didn´t receive any response... and when I received an e-mail they didn´t reply whether they purchase the order or not... they didn´t give me any update. The only thing they sent me are the rules and conditions of what I bought throght them... today it is 10 days and I didn´t get any response and I payed 200usd... I´m frustrated and don´t know what to do because they keep saying that I signed the conditions they put and I can´t do anything I just have to wait! I will see if I open a dispute in paypal to see if I can get my money back but as I signed their conditions I don´t know if I will get something... be aware they are the worst and treat you very bad! They have only one crazy person TO CHAT... and don´t do anything they just give you escuses and more escuses.

Every time I asked about my order -they gave FALSE information. I waited for 14 weeks and open Dispute in PayPal - it is very effective way to be refunded.

I was ordering from the company website for 2xist.com and when I tried to order to canada, it sent me to the International Checkout page. Thinking that it would be secure/safe since a legitimate and popular company is using them, I put in my CC info and did the order. Stupid me, I realised I should have probably checked to see the legitimacy of this site beforehand. That's when I stumbled on these reviews. I found it very strange that almost all the good raving reviews are ordering the same thing, Dr Martens. And all the good reviews were very vague, simply stating that "it came so fast" "very good experience" and only the bad reviews gave specific detail. Scared out of my wits since I was out of $120CAD I went to their site and did the Live Chat and asked for my order to be canceled right then and there. The person on the chat sent a message saying it was cancelled (got the email on my phone right away too) and they claimed that no money was taken, but the pre-authorization would take up to 10 business days to reverse. When I asked how I could be sure they'd not charge my card, the person sent: "We don't do business that way. We are a legitimate business" and promptly disconnected our session.
So, I am hoping that the charge in my card is indeed only a pre-auth, and in 10 days I'll have that money again. But I read way too much bad reviews to let them get away with my money. Even if they are legitimate, I've ordered from places like Amazon.ca etc and always feel safe when ordering from them, but I had a horrible gut feeling with these guys. They might not be a scam, but they certainly have a horrible reputation. I'd spend my money elsewhere.

If u r reading this, u wish to know how does 'International Checkout' rates with genuine buyers from Australia. I have been searching high & low for a pair of Dr Martens Vintage 1490 in UK7, but was unsuccessful in good old Australia. My chance of getting a pair at a reasonable price was from the USA. They have the 3rd party call 'International Checkout'. For those who don't know. How it works is you checkout normal at the Dr Martens US & select 'International Checkout' & I paid through using PayPal. This 3rd party then place an order on your behalf with Dr Martens US, cost of my boots plus the postage to Australia. I happen to read the review on 3rd party 'International Checkout' after I had placed my order. At this point I was very nervous, due to many negative reviews from other buyers. There was nothing I could do now, but to see where it takes me. My hard earned money approx. AU$350 was in the hand of 'International Checkout'. I emailed Dr Martens US to confirm if my order through 'International Checkout' has been ackownlegded or even processed. Positive reply came through in 2 working days & it was shipped to 'International Checkout'. 2 more working days later, 'International Checkout' confirmed that my boots have been successfully received. The boots were then posted to me in 1 working day. 'International Checkout' used DHL postal service for my goods. Tracking number provided was very detailed every step of the way. In brief, posted from USA to HK then to Perth Western Australia. It arrived to me in 4 working days from USA 'International Checkout'. My boots were in beautiful original Dr Martens Vintage box & doubled wrapped very carefully. In my experience with the purchase using 'International Checkout' was nothing but smooth! There was no issue with delays, extra postage cost, damaged goods or even the wrong size/items & worse case, lost! I would share my positive experience with my family & friends. I'm very sorry that your experience with International Checkout was disappointing. We went thru extra verification steps because your shipping address and country did not match the credit card billing address and country associated with your credit card. We issued a small deposit to your account for verification to make sure it was an authorized purchase. Unfortunately, this can take several days after issuing the deposit for it to post to your account. Thank you for verifying. As your order contained mattresses shipping to an overseas destination, International Checkout had to assess it for additional shipping costs. We do not have access to the items' weight or dimensions at the time of checkout as we do not receive that information from the store you ordered from.
I can understand why the additional time and cost would be frustrating and we apologize for the inconvenience. We are working on a solution to gain access to item size and weight from the store so we can improve that in the future.
