“Horrible!”

Yana W.
12/1/20

I had this device literally since Saturday, Nov. 28,2020 until Dec. 1,2020! I have called many many times to complain. Haven't driven my car since Saturday when I put the device in. Wanna know why?! Cause my battery is drained! Finally recharged it this morning, only to be stranded at a store. The battery died again. Now I have to get my car towed. Please stay away from this company. I'm a voluntary account. They have discouraged me greatly from doing the right thing. I have already spent over $200 in Uber rides and a battery charger! For the rep. To tell my end bill is $109 and I only had this device less than 72 hours is beyond me!

I've only had this thing installed for 4 months so far. And so far i've replaced the battery, spark plugs, ignition coils, and a starter. BMW technicians told me this things is draining all the power out of my car. So I went to my service center and he told me,"That's just how it's wired and the device is working fine. Whatever is wrong it's with my car."
My car is a 2013 320i. I've had it for 4 years and not once have I had any issues. Always kept up with my maintenance, and car has always started up fine in the past. Even after taking it to BMW the only thing they saw wrong is the power being drained from my car. I've lost my job because my car wouldn't start up. This company is horrible. This device will ruin your car. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone.

Tip for consumers:
Buy a battery tender. If you don't drive daily then it might not be an issue for you.

This is a scam. I had to sign a year lease to get my truck to run. They held my truck hostage. They also promised to refund my installation fee which they didn't. They don't answer the phone once they know your phone number. I requested THREE CALLBACKS and they never return the call. They also request all kinds of personnal info (arrest case number, BAC etc) before they'll give you a price quote. They lie about the price and don't tell you about added costs. I'm filing a complaint with the WA State Attorney General. If you have the same problems I suggest you do the same in your state.
There is also a phony website called Trustpilot obviously run by them that gives themselves almost all 5 star reviews. Should be time for a class action lawsuit.

I have had the device in my car for 2 years. The original place I had it put in was closed down by the State. I was not notified. I love Extreme Audio, that's where It go now.
After my calibration on Wednesday I stopped to do errands. When I got back to my car my device was not working. It wasn't going on or letting me blow. I unscrewed the device and waited 1min. And reattached but it still wouldn't go on. I called and waited on the phone for 30 min. Still on hold. I opened my hood and jiggled the wire and it went back on.When I pushed to blow I got vio 11. When I called they refused my refund. I have so more to say about the out ra

Tip for consumers:
I have been having problems from the start with Intoxalock since
beginning. They just want my money. it's horrifying to think everytime I shop or go anywhere, I don't know if my car will start because of a device won't work.

If you must have a device installed do not use this money grabbing company! At every turn you will be iel Hrcharged for lockouts and calibration fees! The customer service is crap, very unprofessional and they speak to you ina very discourteous manner. If you have to pay the least you should be treated like a fee paying customer. There are other companies out there. Take your business elsewhere.

This is one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. First they tried not to honor the coupon I had and now every time i try to download a copy of the lease it says "PDF failed to load" I've had the lease emailed to me, tried to download it from the website on my computer, and tried to get it from the intoxalock app on my phone. There is a problem with the document on every device, and every application i try to open it on. I tried just uploading it to the DMV directly and it gave an error saying there was a problem with the document. Intoxalock will not accept that the problem is with their document and they keep saying the problem is mine. Theres no way I can request my interlock license now because of this horrible company. Trying to get support for this has been a nightmare. They just keep putting me back on hold over and over

Zaps battery. I had to pay tow bill and for new battery. I was also charged 75.00 service fee because it ruined my battery and had to be towed. It is not an easy device to use. I am looking into switching companies.

They prey upon your situation. Not once did I drink and drive but received 7 or 8 violations. Which cost $105 each once you go to deal with the lock out. They have faulty equipment and is the greatest side hustle I have ever seen. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAQUE! They are a blood sucking leach attached to your bank account.

Tip for consumers:
Avoid this company!

What a joke. Money grubbing pigs. Very prompt to take your money. Service sucks. Not the service center but the support from Intoxalock. I have been sitting here waiting for Intoxalock support to help the service center to get intoxalots calibration equipment to caiibrate their device that I'm required to pay to keep calibrated. 2 hrs and counting. I pay $100/month. I want $100 service. Keeping the mouth piece in is another unsafe problem. Freeway speeds, time to blow and the mouth piece falls out to the floor of the vehicle. Not very safe. Not sure about percentages that experience this, but I get very light headed while blowing. I do not get light headed at. 05 BAC, in which case Utah chooses to convict people for being intoxicated. Another bunch of money grubbing Mormon pigs. Separation from church and state my $#*!.

I had this installed in my vehicle, and on my initial ride back I started having issues with my device. I blew into it and kept reading as a missed test. Got a violation, called customer service and my service provider and the service provider who installed my device were very helpful and said I wasn't going to be charged for the first one. Took my vehicle to the shop, done.
I called customer service to report the lockout and ask for a work order and I was told I wasn't going to be charged for a lockout. A couple week past and I see I'm being charged for the lockout that occurred.
Ever since I took my vehicle back to the service center the second time,
I haven't had any issues with my device.

Frequent lockouts, that are the fault of device. Difficult if not impossible to contact customer service. Numerous hidden fees that are difficult to challenge.

Use something else. Anything else.

Current customer, would love to cancel and switch.

This company is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They are only focused on getting money. My wife had to have this device on her car even though she didn't drink but that a different story. This device failed me even though I have never drank alcohol in my life and they still charged us a failed test fee. But the absolute worst part is my wife passed away while the device was still on the car. I sent them her death certificate and they still charged me the monthly fees and re calibration fees after her passing. I finally just removed the device myself. They still call wanting the missed payments. All of this after one of their reps told me I wouldn't be charged anymore since my wife died. Intoxalock is the WORST company. Greedy pieces of garbage.

I went into my car to use the cigarette lighter cause I needed to air up my bike tires with an electric pump and little did I know that turning the key to the on position activates the device where now you have to blow in to it. No one explained that to me at the time of installation and neither is it in the instructions they give you in the lockout section. So then I had to go all the way to the place pay 20 bucks and get it recalibrated and then they charged me 80 dollars. They said it was a valid lock out. How the $#*! is that valid? Anyway, they escalated the call and the manager said there was nothing they could do. The place is a rip off! They re just out to get money. Didn't do business with them research other IID places. Your lawyer might recommend them but that's probably cause he gets referral fees from them. I wanna give them negative stars cause they suck.

CROOKS...DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY PERIOD!

I called to get quote and explained that I wanted to schedule appointment for later date which he said "just call me when you know". I gave my credit card info to start the process and he CHARGED my card. When I finally received the Lease Agreement 3 weeks later they charged me $50 no-show fee which I CANNOT get back. Secondly, they automatically sign you up for 3 extra fees...device protection plan $5.00, Sleeve lease fee. $1.08, and Roadside Assistance $4.00. ALL per month fees.

When you call with issues you become a pinball. Good luck if you go with these CROOKS

I have had the Intoxalock for 4.5 months and it killed my battery about 2 weeks ago. Be prepared to buy another battery because it totally sucked the life out of mine and I regularly used the "powersave" mode. It also takes 2-3 minutes to "warm" up in the Winter. I recommend using another IID as this one is horrible.

I've never had an issue starting my car but I've had to pay a lockout fee several times. The fee is $75.1) My battery died. Fee!
2) I forgot to report my vehicle was being Maintenenced... Fee! 3) I used hand sanitizer and failed that test but took another test after the count down and passed several more on the way home (they have a camera in the car too)... Fee! 4) I was letting my car warn up while I used the bathroom... Fee!

Had to pay for a tow due to the machine not working, wasn't my fault they said they would refund the tow bill towards the bill and giving me a run a round to own up to their word. I have done everything they said and asked for including the tow receipt and they still are refusing to refund. Also making a complaint to BBB.

This device will fail you even though you don't drink any alcohol. I've went into a store to use the restroom to come out and have a failure then a few minutes later it passes me. Leaving a job site it failed me 3 times and locked me out for 15 minutes then on the next try it passed and was fine the rest of the day. Customer service is worthless. They read from a script and blame the problem on me for perfume, mouthwash, or hand sanitizer. I hadn't used any of these things.

Roadside Assistance Fee: $4.00 (every two weeks)
Sleeve Lease Fee: $1.09 (every two weeks, It's the foam rubber sleeve the unit fits in, Probably cost $2.00.)
Device Protection Fee: $5.00 (every two weeks)
Lease fee $49.04 (every two weeks). Note that they do not charge for a month. The every two weeks thing give them a 13th payment every year.
Many other fees. These things should give you soem idea of what kind of company this is. Many other operators to choose from.

With this device no mechanic shop will work on your car because Intoxalock does not disable the device for auto shop. Their solution is to have it towed to a service center PAY to have it uninstalled at one of their service centers tow it back to the auto repair shop then pay again to have it re installed! Customer service is a joke and not helpful at all. My device was faulty and had a wire shortage and I had to pay 405$ out of pocket to have it fixed took them 4 days to send out a new device. I would choose another company.

Tip for consumers:
To have your car worked on you have to pay to uninstall and reinstall and towed all at your expense

READ YOUR LEASE CAREFULLY!

Seriously, you need to read your lease agreement. One week after your final payment your lease will expire. If you need to extend the lease, you'll instantly be charged a new lease fee and a setup fee, despite that your account is already active in their system. Furthermore, they charge you monthly for a "device protection plan," yet if the device is ever damaged or lost, you still owe them the full cost of the device - so what's the protection plan for except additional revenue and profits? Section 11 of the lease is particularly interesting, in which they state that if you ever disagree with any aspect of the lease, you are in default, and must immediately return your device, pay a lease cancellation fee, AND continue paying through the end of your original lease. So... if you're continuing to pay through the end of the lease, what's the cancellation fee for?

Tip for consumers:
There are other options out there which have to be more legitimate than this one. They will nickel and dime you to death, every week or two, for every single thing ever done, etc. And they will look for ways to extend your time on the device, and therefore having to pay them over and over and over. And best of all, according to their lease (which is intentionally too small to read in the app and can't be zoomed in), if you disagree with any of it, you're in default and immediately owe them more.

Well. You made a mistake. Maybe multiple mistakes. So now, in the state of Missouri, you have to satisfy requirements to restrict your "privilege" to drive. And here come these dooshbaggs dangling that freedom carrot in front of your nose.
The truth? The equipment thinks that a pizza from Casey's general store is a six pack of beer. Now yer stuck in the parking lot for who knows how long. Batter life of your car battery? Plan for a new one. And don't dare put it in yourself. Oh. My favorite: it will let you start your car. But at retest, it goes WILD. It fails you so you get a "violation". So. Why did it let you start your car in the first place. And please note. It DOES track you. It DOES watch you, and it DOES record you. Why else would they have a camera?

Tip for consumers:
GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE.

Products used:
The full tracking photo system. Even tho it was not required. You see, when I contacted them, I was required only to have an interlock. I was not required to have GPS or a camera. BUT THEY SENT IT ANYWAY AND BILLED ME FOR IT. Also. I was required to have 6 months interlock service. They forced a 1 year contract.
Wait. But there's more. Try calling them to fix it? Not.

When you call in to get service, your call is answered on the drop of a dime. Once they have collected your money it is IMPOSSIBLE to get anyone to help. The paperwork that was sent to the service center was incorrect. I spent 8 hours at the DMV just to be told that the paperwork was all wrong. I finally was able to get someone on the phone and was told that the paperwork would be corrected and sent out via overnight mail. This was last Friday and here were are a week later and still NO paperwork. Anyone else with this problem? I contacted the DMV to complain and was told to contact the Bureau of Automotive Repair to file a formal complaint. The customer service here is RIDICULOUS! My son has not been able to drive and has not been able to get to work. Anyone else needing to file a complaint BAR.CA.GOV

This company should have a class action lawsuit filed against them!
All they care about is how to steal money.
