Overall, JCP is the best shopping site anyone can visit. They have quality items and a great value. I have been shopping at their brick and mortor stores for a long time, now my online experience is wonderful. Nothing makes me more happy than to browse their website (my go to place for fashion, beauty, home and gifts). Everything I need is just a click away. There is no question, if I order something from JCP it will be a quality item. I have never been disappointed. My favorite brands women's clothing LIz Claiborn and A.N.A. I have only had to return someting once, it was simple as it could be. Customer service talk to people in a respectful manner and are willing to help explain returns etc. JCP is a no stress place to shop. Thank you JCP and keep up the great job!
I will start by saying that I have made many JCPenney purchases. Within the past 3-4 months, my experiences have been spiraling to a fast decline. I online ordered a pair of shoes. I received a box with the correct size, but the shoes inside were of a different size. In order to process a return - I would have to pay $8 to return them by mail, or drive 1.5 hours to return it back to the store. Why should I have to pay for their fault? Most recently, JCPenney had a promotion called the Gold Coupon Giveaway that went on August 1st-4th, 2024. I revealed 50% off coupon code. I ordered 11 items. 10 days after ordering, I check on the status online. 2 of the items says "Cancelled." The other 9 items say "Backordered." I called customer service - as they apparently do not have a chat feature - to inquire why I didn't receive an email/notification of the cancelled items, why I haven't received a refund, how I somehow picked out 11 items that are all basically not available for purchase, and when they anticipate the backordered items would be back in supply. I got put on hold for the CSR to inquire about the refund, he told me, "It looks like they forgot to push the refund through." I asked why I hadn't been notified of the items status update, he told me, "We don't do that." How is it possible that I picked 11 items that are all not available? He said, "We are overwhelmed by the orders that we received during that promotion, and our suppliers is out of 80% of the items ordered." Should I expect to eventually get the 9 items that are on backorder? He said, "Likely they will be cancelled." Great! For those that utilized a coupon, and their entire order gets cancelled - do they get an extension/exception to utilize the coupon? He said, "Nope. We are cancelling orders that had the 50% coupon used." It has been 3 weeks since I ordered - all items have been cancelled now - no refund still to date, no email communication. Be wary. Their marketing and customer service practices are less than couthful. I am picturing law firms putting out an abundancy of commercials for compensation, in the near future - for mal-retail services rendered by JCPenney.
There was a time when JC Penney was just an average store. I never really put it too high on my list when I went online or drove to the mall. But in the last couple years they have really changed a lot. It is SO MUCH BETTER now. GREAT PRICES, GREAT SELECTION, and customer service in their stores is like a whole new world -- SO NICE!
I know the company is having some financial problems and it may not be around much longer, but the great thing is that OTHER stores might see how the changes at JC Penney have helped them survive a lot longer than all the "experts" said they would -- so even if JC Penney doesn't make it, maybe some other stores will copy the JC Penney ideas and that will make shopping online or at the mall a LOT BETTER for everybody.
We used to enjoy shopping there. Great people who were helpful and knew their area. We could always find someone to help. Now that is not so much in the store but still great help online.
JCPenney is one of my favorite stores when I was a child my mother would go to jc penney and I would i be so happy and today its still one of my favorites so many products customer service is awesome affordable a great store thank you for so many great shopping experiences many kudos to a terrific store
Every year, I order several things from JCP... FROM FURNITURE TO CHRISTMAS GIFTS. I will admit deliveries have come close a couple of times when I needed something by a certain time. But overall, service is great! Rewards are great!
I tried to deactivate my online customer account since I no longer buy anything from JC Penney. I logged in and used the chat function, but the person from JC Penney refused to deactivate the account. I send them 3 email messages providing my USERID and asking them to deactivate the account. They told me I had to call them and that they valued my time (which is clearly not true). I called and provided my userid, the address in my online profile and the phone number in my profile. The JC Penney rep said she couldn't deactivate my account. She wanted more info, like my present address -- which is not in my JC Penney account. Then she hung up on me.
The manager Susan was very rude and unprofessional with customers like me, which is bringing negative impression about your company. She is an older woman but SHE NEEDS TO KEEP IN Mind: IT'S NOT WHAT YOU SAY ITS HOW YOU SAY IT. Susan has a Rough tone need to learn these simple words like thank you! TO be a manager that person must exhibit those qualities in which she is lacking.
I ordered a recliner on 11/22, the ONLY reason I ordered was because they said they would schedule delivery by 12/18. It's 12/20 and I spent 2 hours on hold only to get disconnected. All I want is a number to schedule delivery. I am reading the other reviews and now I'm seriously concerned and, again, ON HOLD.
Waited for 30 minutes to finally be connected with a rude woman who put me on hold again. I was then hung up on. I tried to use the online chat with no luck. My issue was never resolved.
I bought some St john's bay. Kakhis. J C Pennies went out of business here. The worst pants I ever bought! If you have no $#*! No balls and a beer belly? These are for you! Because I have an $#*! the belt line fits my belly but does not include my butt. That makes the pants sit on the crack of my $#*!. And it pushes down my underwear. And THE MOST SCRATCHY ANNOYING TAG. RIPS MY SKIN. THEY COME WITH PLUMMERS CRACK YOU DON'T HAVE TO BEND. I called to return them. And it is not easy. You pay the shipping. And they have like 10 places they could go back to. And you are supposed decode there invoice. Lol. Forget I am done. Ordered some lee jeans which are the best pants I have ever owned. Relaxed fit total comfort flat front!

Always have liked their items. I've never not been satisfied. Especially with jewelry. I'm allergic to plated or coated jewelry. It has to be real KT an diamonds or etc.
Paid cash for a $3400 ring and decided to exchange a few days later for a less expensive ring. Long story short JCPENNY screwed up the refund transaction and now my checking account is overdrawn by $850 and I have no money for the entire weekend to feed my kids!
First of all, anything to do with George Soros, a billionaire left wing jerk, I will stay away from, plus the merchandise they sell is second rate as far as I'm concerned. "Nuf" said.
Love penny's but they put you through a lot to use those 10.00 coupons which they don't send them in the mail anymore up your game some customers do notice change

There's a few clothing items that in retail dont get carried all the time, bali bras and Mixit tights (yes I know they are for juniors but they fit still lol). Anyways it's easy to get stuff there.
DO NOT BUY FROM JC PENNEY. Absolute worst customer service I have EVER dealt with. Over the holidays I decided to purchase appliances from them (terrible mistake). They were running a rebates program where if you bought over 6+ appliances you would receive a $600 rebates gift card once you filled out their form with the Serial numbers and order number. I did what they asked and found out that they needed a UPC number (which was not listed on their form as information they needed). So I called JCPenney to get the UPC code and after a week of NOT getting any responses and being shuffled around on the phone I find out the UPC was on the box that they sent the appliances. Funny story... JC Penney takes all the boxes with them once they drop off all the appliances. Apparently, there is nothing they can do and I will not be getting a rebate due to their lack of communication. Absolute worst decision I've ever made buying from them, do not follow the same mistake I did.
I purchased a package of men's T-shirts from JCPenney. They charged me $9.00 for shipping. I was thinking since they charge so much, it had better be sent immediately, and by UPS. I was wrong. They use a shipping company called Laser Ship, That company is in capable of getting a simple package to your home. I will review them later, as it's too disheartening to write all in one review. After emailing JCPenney Customer Service 12 times, and calling at least three times speaking to a customer service rep in another country, we still could not find where this package was. It could not be traced, and when it finally was, it was supposed to be delivered yesterday. I get an email saying Laser Ship couldn't fulfill the delivery. There is no reason for that. JCPenney takes no responsibility for their blunder. They use a sub standard delivery company that's in capable of delivering the simplest of packages. I was a long-standing customer, even when they were going through bankruptcy with your past CEO. At this point anyone who uses this delivery company should be forewarned that they probably won't receive their packages. I will not be buying from JCPenney again. They lost my business. Another company would've sent out a replacement package by a different company, like USPS or UPS. I went through my credit card company to have the charges reversed. But left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Nope, after trying to shop here for a while I decided to go with Macys which is more stylish. JC Penny seems to be geared towards old people stuff lol.
I ordered 10 bottles of shampoo and conditioner online. JCP.com packaged the bottles without sealing them or taping them in an way. Naturally, the bottles opened up during shipping and all of the liquid poured out into the box. The package was completely soaked. JCP doesn't provide an email address or any way of returning a package other than calling them or doing online chat. I chatted with them and they requested that UPS pick up the ruined package. UPS picked up the package and ended up discarding it because it was too soiled to ship. According to my credit card company (I disputed the charge), JCP refuses to refund my money because they say UPS is responsible. UPS says that I should contact the sender - I cannot open a claim. Currently I am out $108.00 because JCP finds it acceptable to throw a bunch of bottles in a box without anything to keep them closed. I order hair products from a variety of sellers and have never received any that were packaged as poorly as these. No wonder they are going out of business - they definitely deserve to!
This is 2nd and last time I'll order online from Jcp. Before you order they say you'll receive April-6-10. Then 1 wk later they say Ups has received, & will send to usps days later because under 10pds, so I'll receive on April 12th. This is 7 clothing items, that I needed by 10th. Talked to supervisor & they can do nothing. Never ordering jcp online. Hate website if I forget pswd so many ads with reset doesn't show. Customer service is a joke...
I purchased a couch for my daughter on May 11,2019 and STILL cannot get it delivered. JCP blows me off. The trucking company, NSD NonStop Delivery is THE biggest shipping joke of the 21st century. The trucking company "SAYS" it's been out for delivery THREE times and then oops, sorry... we don't have a delivery for your area. NO one at JCP is willing to step up and resolve this issue. DO NOT BUY FURNITURE FROM JC PENNY!

It is very convenient to shop from jc penney online. They have great prices and sales. Shipping was fast, and I was really happy with the clothes I bought.
We got a $250 gift card for one of our wedding presents recently. My husband ordered $250 worth of items on jcp.com. We got an email saying everything had shipped. Then he shortly after, he received another email saying the whole order had been canceled. The website says the stuff is in stock and now it's all of a sudden not in stock? It makes no sense. The customer service rep said that JC Penny doesn't know what is in their warehouse but yet their website says otherwise. So all these people (read the other bad reviews online) are ordering items because the website says it's in stock when in reality they may not even have it. Therefore, items get cancelled.
If you're thinking about buying something online-don't do it. Go to Macy's, Dillard's, or any other department store that is decent and has good customer service. The lady from the customer service department my husband spoke to on the phone HUNG up on him. This is outrageously ridiculous. So disappointed in JC Penny. Before the rep rudely hung up on my husband she also said it will be 3 days before we can get our money back which is a rip off! So ridiculous. So now, we (hopefully) get all our money back and then pray that they have the items in stock...
Stuff happens, right? Well, if you order something from JcP online & have it shipped to the store, you better have great availability to pick it up - OR THEY WILL SEND IT BACK WITHOUT CONTACTING YOU. Have had this happen twice - I paid for item & had shipped to store. Went to pick up about 2 weeks later & they already sent it back. BAD DEAL JcP! Kohl's offers FREE SHIPPING TO THE HOUSE IF YOU ORDER IN THE STORE - try that option!
