Overall, JCP is the best shopping site anyone can visit. They have quality items and a great value. I have been shopping at their brick and mortor stores for a long time, now my online experience is wonderful. Nothing makes me more happy than to browse their website (my go to place for fashion, beauty, home and gifts). Everything I need is just a click away. There is no question, if I order something from JCP it will be a quality item. I have never been disappointed. My favorite brands women's clothing LIz Claiborn and A.N.A. I have only had to return someting once, it was simple as it could be. Customer service talk to people in a respectful manner and are willing to help explain returns etc. JCP is a no stress place to shop. Thank you JCP and keep up the great job!
I will start by saying that I have made many JCPenney purchases. Within the past 3-4 months, my experiences have been spiraling to a fast decline. I online ordered a pair of shoes. I received a box with the correct size, but the shoes inside were of a different size. In order to process a return - I would have to pay $8 to return them by mail, or drive 1.5 hours to return it back to the store. Why should I have to pay for their fault? Most recently, JCPenney had a promotion called the Gold Coupon Giveaway that went on August 1st-4th, 2024. I revealed 50% off coupon code. I ordered 11 items. 10 days after ordering, I check on the status online. 2 of the items says "Cancelled." The other 9 items say "Backordered." I called customer service - as they apparently do not have a chat feature - to inquire why I didn't receive an email/notification of the cancelled items, why I haven't received a refund, how I somehow picked out 11 items that are all basically not available for purchase, and when they anticipate the backordered items would be back in supply. I got put on hold for the CSR to inquire about the refund, he told me, "It looks like they forgot to push the refund through." I asked why I hadn't been notified of the items status update, he told me, "We don't do that." How is it possible that I picked 11 items that are all not available? He said, "We are overwhelmed by the orders that we received during that promotion, and our suppliers is out of 80% of the items ordered." Should I expect to eventually get the 9 items that are on backorder? He said, "Likely they will be cancelled." Great! For those that utilized a coupon, and their entire order gets cancelled - do they get an extension/exception to utilize the coupon? He said, "Nope. We are cancelling orders that had the 50% coupon used." It has been 3 weeks since I ordered - all items have been cancelled now - no refund still to date, no email communication. Be wary. Their marketing and customer service practices are less than couthful. I am picturing law firms putting out an abundancy of commercials for compensation, in the near future - for mal-retail services rendered by JCPenney.
I placed an online order and received a shipping confirmation the next day. The order was placed eleven days ago and shipping confirmation received ten days ago. The actual tracking number shows there has been NO MOVEMENT OR ACTIVITY of the package in over NINE days. Customer service is completely useless. They cannot do anything and just keep feeding me lies and ridiculous excuses. Do NOT order from JCPENNEY! You will not receive your order and their customer service is laughable... it's more like customer DISSERVICE. If I could give JCPENNEY a rating of ZERO stars, I would!
To return items that you have ordered on line through their web site, you have to pay for the shipping. Of course they say you can return to a JCPenny store for free, but that can take up to 2 HOURS.
First if I had a JCPenny store convenient and close I would shop there and save myself all this frustration.
Second. Why do I want to wait around a store, I will no longer shop at, for 2 HOURS to get a refund
I shop online as I live in Australia.
The choice and quality of clothing is great.
I couldn't find fault with their shipping cost. Thank you JCPenney.
I ordered a curio cabinet from JC Penney which was delivered damaged and without the shelves. I called to report to JC Penney customer service and they told me I had to order a replacement. The next morning, the delivery service bought the shelves which they had taken in error, so I decided to keep the damaged curio since I did not want to wait another 2 wks. I called and cancelled the order placed the nite before and was assured it would be canceled and I would receive a cancellation notice. When I didn't receive the cancellation notice, I called another 3 times and finally was told the order was definitely cancelled. A wk later, I was charged for another curio. When I called customer service, I was told it would take minimally 10 days to research and refund my $258.00. Since I charged on my American Express, I will probably be paying interest before it is resolved. I will NEVER order from JC Penney again. THey join the ranks with Home Depot and Lowes. If I could rate a 0, I would.
Customer service at this store is non-existent. Want to know why JC Penny keeps filing for bankruptcy - your customer service is horrible. I ordered two pair of pants for pick-up at the store. Go in on a Saturday morning, the pick up desk is closed. No sign at the front door and poor placement of the sign at the pick-up desk. Some genius thought it would be a good idea to put the closed sign in between the two registers instead of in front of the register directly below the pick-up sign.
Had to go all the way up to the front, wait in a long line with only two cashiers working on a Saturday, none of them wearing name tags and me getting in a bad mood real fast. Thanks for putting me in a bad mood.
It took over 20 minutes for me to pick up a prepaid order. The manager of this store needs to be retrained in excellent customer service along with the cashiers. They failed to respond properly and then treat me like I was the one that caused the problem.
This is all on the manager and he/she should be written up for failing to properly schedule his/her staff. Only one person on the staff apologized for the problem.
I will never order anything from Penny's anymore, they cannot be trusted to get it in a timely manner. Four (4) weeks is unacceptable for something that should be in stock in the store. This too reflects directly on the store manager. It was frustrating enough to have to sort through unorganized clothing just to find there was only one pair Levi's in a common size. This is a direct reflection on poor management of supply chain. All these issues factor into a loss of customers.
Tip for consumers:
I normally shop at Penny's and against my better judgement, I wanted to go to Kohl's but my wife had her way. Not listening to my wife anymore. I could have gotten a better deal at Kohl's.

Purchased two pair of Levi's in a common size which were not in stock.
I went to JCP to purchase a spring jacket. I get to the register and tell them that I have a military discount to the cashier who is checking me out. The cashier next to him gets this attitude and says, "No don't give it to her because we can only give it on Veteran's day." The cashier tells her that he's never heard that before and I also ask her when did it start because I was recently there and the cashier I worked with then was the one who told me about it and to be sure to ask about it because some cashiers don't know they give it. I'm getting this information from someone who has Vets in her family. The cashier continues to argue with the cashier that is checking me out, then she says, "Give it to her if you want to but I'm not getting in trouble!" REALLY JCP? I didn't realize my husband, who is currently deployed only serves the country on Veteran's Day. It's good to know that over the last 21 years of service that he's only served 20 days according to your policy. I take issue with any business that treats our Veterans like crap and this was crap! It would be 1 star, but the cashier still gave me the discount in spite of what the bitter cashier had to say. And the fact that she was going to argue with him in front of a customer... terrible customer service.
Ordered Good Grips items (on major sale!). Items were received within a week, at their store. All was as expected. Great service.
Love the Good Grips product line!
Some folks may have won great buys over black Friday weekend but for many jcpenny customers, the nightmare has just begun. If you ordered any item for delivery that weekend and jcp ran out of inventory, you, and apparently customer service reps, didn't, won't know until you "track" your order or check your credit card activity to find the order cancelled. Jcp accepts the order but immediately cancelled the order. Not too uncommon except that you won't be notified. The only way is clicking the order delivery tracking button in your email. The poor tel reps tried re entering my order 3 times. In one instance the order was not cancelled, *but it was not the color I wanted,, the rep went and corrected the color with a new order. Apparently jcp reps did not know any more than the customers that this means the order color is unavailable. By the time, this is over a week later, the jcp reps tell me this, I try ordering the second choice color - except, now this is unavailable! I feel jcp did a bait & switch, locking up my appliance purchase for a "black Friday sale price" that they knew could not be fulfilled but for very few items in stock, but kept me from purchasing from somewhere else. Now, by 12/4, sale days are over and a lot of unhappy online customers are going to be gunning for jcp. Never again!
I purchased a product from JCPenny in dec. It was an angel topper for my tree. They said it was on backorder for 2 weeks. The next morning I found it on Amazon and they delivered it the next day. I called to cancel the order withJCPenny 10 hours after it was ordered and they refused to let me cancel because they have a Half hour cancelation policy on a backorder item. Its no wonder stores like JCPENNY are going out of business. With that kind of policy they deserve to go out of business.
My husband order living room furniture a month ago they said it would be delivered today between 4-6 pm well 5pm they called and said that they where in NY we said no we are in NJ well now I have no furniture until they can set up new delivery day after Friday well we work have a toddler with autism and no more patients left and your delivery company was very disrespectful someone should get my furniture to me
I ordered several things for Christmas 2015. I paid with my debit card so they got their money the next day. I am still fighting to get my money from the order they canceled since they didn't have the merchandise, it was out of stock, then the order was canceled on the 23rd by them! Every time I call they say the same thing it takes 3-5 business days to get my refund! Well it sure in the heck didn't take them 3-5 business days to get my money for stuff they didn't even have in stock! I WILL NEVER buy ANYTHING from JCP again! NOT HAPPY
Just received my JC Penney order after being "missing" for 3 weeks. Penneys didn't know where pkg was & Post Office blamed UPS for losing pkg & UPS blamed Post Office. I place a replacement order & here we go again. My pkg which started in Missouri & then was supposed to be delivered to Bismarck, ND, after being transferred in Minnesota is now in South Carolina according to tracking #. Really? It went from Minnesota to South Carolina. Do you know Minnesota is right next to North Dakota & South Carolina is on the east coast? So should I assume this pkg will get "lost" too only to show up 3 weeks later? I just ordered from Kohls 5 days ago & pkg was UPS only & it arrived today, with no problem. Sooooo why is Sure Post such a mess?
I have been a loyal customer to JCPenny for 2 years. I always paid my bills early, on time or in full, but since June. I have fallen ill and been in out and of the hospital, sometimes there for 5 weeks t a time, so a few bills got paid late. Plus I haven't used my card 2 times between June to Aug. But not since Aug. So they closed my account on me. It took me 10 years to recover from a divorcee to get a few cards in 2016 now because of a few late payment to other companies they do not want to give me my card back. When I called customer service they said "Yes mama you have been an outstanding customer but because what the credit bureau says we can't give you your card back". This makes not since when a person is a loyal customer and has not problem with them that should be the first thing they look at, not what has happened to other companies. JCPenny should look at me as a loyal customer until I shop other wise,, so now instead of me shopping there I will never shop there again because they do not care about the customers. JCPenny you are the worst.
I ordered one pair of tennis shoes on 09/01/23. I received an email saying they shipped on 09/04/23, and should be arriving by 09/07/23. By 09/11/23, they still hadn't shipped, so I called customer service. They told me to WAIT FIVE MORE DAYS, which I did because, what else could I do? I called today, 09/18/23, and was told to WAIT ANOTHER DAY. It has now been 18 days since I've placed the order, I am not going to call customer service AGAIN to probably be told to wait even longer. I told the agent I wanted to replace the order and have them re-shipped...well, they're sold out! I told them to issue me a refund...THEY'RE NOT REFUNDING THE S&H. HOW. MY ORDER WASN'T EVEN SHIPPED. So, don't ever order from this crap company, they'll take your money and leave you with nothing.
Tip for consumers:
Run away fast from JCP. They're going down the toilet for a reason.

J. C. Penny's is an awesome place to shop! I bought all my kids clothes
There when they were young. The customer service is good. Their inventory of items is huge. Shop J. C.
Penny!
I have always been a customer of Penney's for as long as I can remember, over 40 years, but they just completely lost me as a customer. They sent me an email offering an adorable sweater in my size for a price I was willing to pay, so I went online and ordered it. I needed to buy $5 more dollars worth to get free shipping so I searched around the site and found some black gloves I really liked and added those. A few hours later I received an email saying sorry, the gloves were sold out, so I was bummed, but still excited to get the sweater. But when the package arrived, there was a little girls' coat in the box, not a woman's sweater. I spent a couple of hours finally reaching someone in customer service to talk to, setting up a refund for the coat since they charged my card for it, and finally re-ordering the sweater. Well, guess what? It was SOLD OUT. I'm just furious and doubt I will ever give them the time of day again, let alone any of my money. I sent the coat back and they had better issue that refund to my credit card or they will get a huge piece of my mind next time I call.
I brought these shorts they were buy one get one for 1 cents I got them, got home one pair did fit, so I thought I would just take them back a exchange them a pair that fits, we'll the cashier today I had to buy to more pair which I think is really dumb, it will be along time till I shop in your store again
I really appreciate a good return policy as a busy working mom I cannot always return things in 30 or 90 days. They have a wide choice of colors for towels at good prices.
POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Lot of miscommunication. Send wrong color dishwasher and and delayed delivery and couldn't get a proper response from them for the inconvenience and stress i went through. No one picks up the phone in the appliance section and nobody is at the desk in the appliance section to assist you. Never going to order any appliance from the store.
I ordered shoes from JCPenny, and waited a week to get them. I needed them for work and so I was excited when my package finally arrived. HOWEVER, upon opening my package, I discovered that they had sent me something that I am certain has been sitting around their warehouse for years! What I received was NOTHING like what I ordered. I then tried to use their " customer service" line to get the issue corrected, but instead spent over 4 hours listening to someone in Thailand blather on in completely incomprehensible " english". It finally became clear to me that the only way to rectify the situation was to return the wrong item to the nearest store and to NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM JCPENNY AGAIN! They have become a freaking joke. Cheap products, cheap labor, outsourcing everything, and blatant theft from anyone who shops there. I have discovered that JCPenny is now the " third world country" of department stores.
I ordered a set of sheets a week ago. They have not even been shipped as of today. This is not the way to gain a customers confidence. I do not think I will buy online from JC Penney again
Merchandise is ok. Free shipping online is terrible. Usually runs a week behind of the date it is to be there. They shipped mine by LASERSHIP. It was a joke.
Website is easy to navigate; large selection of products, return policy is great, store pick up is a convenience. Delivery and shipping is affordable ad fast.
I like this store however it is too hot inside to try on clothes. No charis in the fitting rooms and not enough cashiers. Too much time waiting to check out. Other than that I love Penneys.
WOW JCPENNYS,,, ITS GETTING BETTER OVER THE YEARS,,,, I NEVER SHOPPED THERE BEFORE, BUT LIKE 2 WEEKS AGO MY SISTER ASKED ME IF I HAVE BEEN ATPENNY'S, AND I SAY NO,,,, SHE WAS AMAZED WITH ALL THE BEAUTIFUL STUFF... SKIRTS,, SHOES.,,, PURSES,,, THEN I STARTED GOING AND I AM REALLY IMPRESSED,,,, GOOD PRICES, ANOTHER BOSTON STORE FOR LESS...
