Overall, JCP is the best shopping site anyone can visit. They have quality items and a great value. I have been shopping at their brick and mortor stores for a long time, now my online experience is wonderful. Nothing makes me more happy than to browse their website (my go to place for fashion, beauty, home and gifts). Everything I need is just a click away. There is no question, if I order something from JCP it will be a quality item. I have never been disappointed. My favorite brands women's clothing LIz Claiborn and A.N.A. I have only had to return someting once, it was simple as it could be. Customer service talk to people in a respectful manner and are willing to help explain returns etc. JCP is a no stress place to shop. Thank you JCP and keep up the great job!
I will start by saying that I have made many JCPenney purchases. Within the past 3-4 months, my experiences have been spiraling to a fast decline. I online ordered a pair of shoes. I received a box with the correct size, but the shoes inside were of a different size. In order to process a return - I would have to pay $8 to return them by mail, or drive 1.5 hours to return it back to the store. Why should I have to pay for their fault? Most recently, JCPenney had a promotion called the Gold Coupon Giveaway that went on August 1st-4th, 2024. I revealed 50% off coupon code. I ordered 11 items. 10 days after ordering, I check on the status online. 2 of the items says "Cancelled." The other 9 items say "Backordered." I called customer service - as they apparently do not have a chat feature - to inquire why I didn't receive an email/notification of the cancelled items, why I haven't received a refund, how I somehow picked out 11 items that are all basically not available for purchase, and when they anticipate the backordered items would be back in supply. I got put on hold for the CSR to inquire about the refund, he told me, "It looks like they forgot to push the refund through." I asked why I hadn't been notified of the items status update, he told me, "We don't do that." How is it possible that I picked 11 items that are all not available? He said, "We are overwhelmed by the orders that we received during that promotion, and our suppliers is out of 80% of the items ordered." Should I expect to eventually get the 9 items that are on backorder? He said, "Likely they will be cancelled." Great! For those that utilized a coupon, and their entire order gets cancelled - do they get an extension/exception to utilize the coupon? He said, "Nope. We are cancelling orders that had the 50% coupon used." It has been 3 weeks since I ordered - all items have been cancelled now - no refund still to date, no email communication. Be wary. Their marketing and customer service practices are less than couthful. I am picturing law firms putting out an abundancy of commercials for compensation, in the near future - for mal-retail services rendered by JCPenney.
On 08/30/2014 I purchased a sofas' from JCPenny.com. Total price under $2,000. Couches were delivered with a heavy duty staple pocking out of the bottom of the sofa chair which injured my 10 month old son to a point where he was bleeding. Plus, the larger sofa has no back support. I can hear and feel the springs poking at my back. Additionally, when I sit on the couch, I can hear a crunch that sounds like you are ripping cardboard. Unbelievable! When I contacted JCPenny, they indicated in order to return the items they would need to send out a technician. Technician came out and indicated he needed to fixed the staple on the couch chair as it is a liability. He agreed the larger couch is below manufacturers standard w/ defects. However, JC penny indicated inspectors report stated the couches were to manufacturers standards. JCPenny is charging me a restocking fee and delivery to pick up the couches. JC penny delivered poor quality, but I have to pay the price. JCPenny does not stand by there product. The customer service is way below standard. Please watch my video I posted on youtube.com and see for yourself. I bought a mattress from JC penny in September, I didn't get it until December. It was a firm Serta. After 2 months, it started to sink in the middle and side. I called the up to tell them my problems. They took the mattress back but I had to pay a restock fee, which means someone else will buy my damaged one. I wanted the same brand mattress, because I was surei had just gotten a defective one in the beginning. I received my other mattress on April 1, yea. They but the Matt on my bed, it seems to be OK In the beginning, just like the first one. After 2 months, this bed did the same thing,so instead of calling them I decided to just turn the bed to the other end upon doing that, I found a rip in the bottom of the mattress, so I lift up the mattress, is was so dirty, they has given me a mattress that someone else had returned, then they want to charge me another restocking fee. Plus for a delivery fee. I will never a mattress from you all again. To be a large company like that and you won't stand up to your merchandises is sad. You give ppl 48 hrs to return. How do a customer know in 2 days there a problem.!
Tip for consumers:
I just knew that by buying my mattress from JC Penny I would of gotten quality products, than for them to constantly charge me for my unsatisfactory were very unprofessional
SINCE WHEN CAN A COMPANY NOT CANCEL AN ORDER FOR A CUSTOMER? CANCEL IT IF IT IS AN ERROR, MY ORDER IS GOING TO THE WRONG ADDRESS AND THEY REFUSE TO HELP ME REROUTE OR CANCEL THE ORDER. I GUESS SOME STRANGER WILL ENJOY MY ORDER. I DONT EVER EXPECT TO SEE IT AGAIN. NEVER EVER JC PENNEY AGAIN!
This is the only department store card i own for a reason. Styles are trendy and quality of goods is superb. Sales are fabulous. Often 75% off! The only department i have quams about is the hosiery.
Jcpenny gave me a credit limit of $500 I have paid them on time every month my credit score hasn't changed since I've gotten the card. Last month I paid $300 on my card today I got a letter saying they lowered my credit limit to $100 because of my credit score, I called and told them that I wanted to cancel my card and they came up with every excuse for me to keep it LOL I will never shop their again the last pair of jeans I got there I wore one time couldn't wear them after I washed them because they ripped and when I called about it the lady said it had to be the agitator in my washer HA i have a front loader think of another excuse!

I ordered 3 camisoles and a Jean jacket for my grand daughter. I picked up my order and went to my car and opened it. IT WAS NOT MY ORDER! I immediately went back into the store to inquire about my order and return the incorrect order. No one knew what happened to my order and a week later I'm still waiting for my credit. Unfortunately I ordered additional items from them and I'm still waiting for those items to arrive. I've been a customer and a JC Penny credit card holder for over 40 years. I'm EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED & DISSATISFIED!
JC Penny is HORRIBLE!

None!!! I did not receive my order!
I placed on online order for a gift for my elderly aunt. I even paid extra shipping to ensure the gift would arrive in time for my aunt's birthday. After I initially placed the order, I received a message that my payment wasn't authorized. (That's another whole issue, VISA decided that a $200 online order two weeks before Thanksgiving must have been fraudulent.) So I called back and used my AMEX and everything seemed to go through fine. I asked if I would get a new order number and the customer service rep said no, that the order number would remain the same. She seemed very competent and helpful, so much sol that I even participated in the online survey after resolving my issue. The day before my package was set to arrive, I decided to double check that it was on track to arrive on time and found that my order had been canceled. I called customer service and was told they had no record of my AMEX number. I was then transferred to a customer service supervisor who barely offered an apology. I will never do business with this company again - no wonder they are in such deep financial trouble. They can't even manage a simple online transaction!
Prices at JCPenney are way to high. A box of dishes $100 the same exact brand the same exact box at meijers for $60 everyday. A four pack of socks $20 same exact socks at meijers $8.
The only reason I ordered from JcPenny was because of its 30% off and $10 off for signing up for an account/ the app. Anyways after ordering several times to just get a set of towels. 1st an item was cancelled and I was not informed (even after several trips to the store to check on it). After making me replace the order several times, bc they can't cancel there own orders. So I have 5 orders 4 with the exact item on it, charged each time... all the customer service reps say is to reorder and then cancel when it gets in. Anyways after 4 calls finally get an order and it's two towels not sets. So now after calling and holding some more... bottom line is they say it's my fault, what I choose was extra large towels even though the picture has a set of towels and the description says nothing about extra large size..."oh the pictures for the selection you choose doesn't always matched and it doesn't come in a set. Its misleading advertizing..." So the picture of a set is for only one towel. This is the second supervisor I've spoken to. So an extra long towel is supposed to be $34 for one towel, WTF. So pretty much nothing they can do. I have to take my order into a store to return it... and wait til all my other orders get I to cancel them too. Wait for all this money to get put back on my card. So all this hassle for no towels and a really big headache. $#*!ty customer service and $#*!ty company. Never will I buy anything there again!
I will never buy another washer or dryer or any appliance from jc penny.
They do not stand by there product, nor except returns

They might be and if their employees don't improve their customer service skills, they'll be the next on the lay off line. If you want to have a job, keep your employer in business and treat customers with the respect they deserve; we are the source for your food clothing, car, house mtg.; treat us like we matter that much. Customers are loyal to their stores, JCP, has been one of my favorite places to shop anywhere in the US, but if I'm treated like i'm not needed, then i will shop elsewhere as there few people who are glutons for disrespect. With so much competition, even one less loyal shopper means the difference whether there will lay offs for store employees. Don't take for granted there will be another store. For every store you take your bad skills, more lay offs are sure to follow. A loyal customer who is treated like a valued, repected customer, will easily pay more rather than be insulted for a bargain. I was charged twice for rhe same dishwasher, and its been same nightmare continued from before Christmas.
I have been a loyal customer for about 6 years. I pay my cc off every single year. In the beginning, a cc limit of $1200. Than a couple years ago they lower my credit limit after I paid it off as usual, to $300. So, I didnt shop with them for a while. I recently decided to give them another shot. Im shopping online and go to check out with an error of "not all items in bag qualify." Ok, i get. Now im spending time trying to review and delete items from my shopping bag which i have no problem doing with numerous stores online other than JCP. They quote this experience is a breeze. Ha! So online help comes on and I tell her my issue. She askes me if I have signed in, which I answer with, I will try again but A breeze, my $#*!. She tells me that they dont tolerate the word "$#*!" and ends the convo. I have been trying to check out for several days with the same error messages. I had 18 items in my bag. Guess what. I will be payimg this cc off and they will no longer have my business. Have a blessed day and your service is the worst! May want to work on that if you want to stay in business.
Jc Penny always has great deal plus coupons and reward that I love taking advantage of. Love shopping at JC Penny for my children and myself and also whenever I have to give a gift to a love one.
The handicap men's restroom at the JCP@ Meadowbrook mall in Bridgeport, WV seems to have personnel who can't install toilet paper correctly; keep feces from the floor and walls, making sure the toilet seat is attached properly.
Shipping is too expensive, $5 item cost me $8.95 to ship... a single tshirt... You literally have 10 minutes after an order to cancel it, or you cannot cancel, and you have to call them on the phone within that 10 minutes and make it through automated crap in time to cancel... their customer service is evasive, rude, and poor, Their website super sux... even if you refine your search to same day piuckup, k your still presented with items not available for same day pickup... These jerks charge you a fee to have something shipped to the store for pickup! Even if they already have it in stock, you order online, theyre charging you that ship to store fee! Finding something free same day pickup even after refining your search to such, is a waste of time... nothing that comes up is available for same day pickup... The shipping is super slow for how expensive it is... often more than the cost of the items being shipped... Wat too many other retailers have free pick up at store, even if it ships to store, the shipping is free and so is the pickup... anything I want is on Amazon, and they are 500 times better in every way than this dump dying company! Hurry up and throw the towel in JCpenny! You treat customers terribly and charge them every step of the way... go out of business scumbags.

I placed an order at Sephora in my local JCPenney store for a CoverFX Contour kit since they didn't have it in stock and I had a merchandise credit from a previous return. I gave the sales clerk my ID with my correct address and she entered it INCORRECTLY. I realized this as soon as I received the order confirmation. I called JCPenney to update my address but was told that they weren't able to assist me, I had to wait until it was shipped and to call UPS to update my address. UPS informed me that Sephora wouldn't allow the address to be updated. So I called JCPenney back to have the package returned and my money refunded. It's been over a MONTH of back and forth frustrating phone calls between Sephora and JCPenney and I still don't have my money back and/or the contour kit I ordered. I will NEVER set foot in JCPenney ever again and if I purchase from Sephora going forward it will be from them directly. HORRIBLE customer service!
I ordered two dresses and a cardigan sweater from JC Penny. It took over 4 weeks to receive the dresses and they were not as described on their website. I decided to return them but could not find a return document. I called and they said it was on the outside of the package and that I could just peel it off. NOT. I ended up typing up the return information myself, packaging it and sending it back through UPS. We will see what happens - i. E., will I get my credit back to American Express. I'll write another review in 4 weeks -- when and if I receive it. The cardigan did not come with the dresses even though I ordered it at the same time. I called to cancel and they told me it was too late as it was on the way. I received it today -- and OMG -- I just couldn't believe it. It was balled up and put in a plastic bag. Obviously, it had been a return and rather than refolding it properly and relabeling it -- again -- they just 'balled' it up and stuck it in a plastic bag. There was no invoice in the envelope that it was sent in. I checked the outside of the package (as I was told before this was where to find the return information) -- but to no avail. There was NO return information. Also, this cardigan is so cheaply made that when you pick it up you can see your hand through it. EEE GADS -- so awful. I am not returning the sweater -- too much of a hassle and it would probably cost me more than it is worth. I will donate to the thrift store. I will never - never order another thing through JC Penny. Good luck if you do.
About once every 4-5 years I go to JC Penny to buy gold toe socks and levis jeans. Last week was that time. My total bill was over $300. The clerk asked if I wanted to save 1/3rd on my purchase by applying for a credit card. I told him I think I already have an account. The short of it is i applied for the credit card as long as they send me a bill in the mail. He did ask me if I wanted to put the purchase on the penny's card. I said yes. I received the credit card yesterday without a bill included. THE APR IS 27.99%. I Was finally able to log on to set up my login after several tries. And there was my new account and my old account. The only way to pay off my account is by providing my bank account information. That is it no other options. Never going to happen for me. So I called customer service to get a mailing address to pay my bill. The Penny's credit card is serviced by Synchrony Bank in Orlando, Florida. Their rating on BBB site is extremely low. I am not sure the JCPenny card is not just a Synchrony card with JC Penny printed on the front with JC Penny receiving a percentage of the 27.99% APR without the overhead of managing the credit card.
JCP was always my choice to order clothing on line. No matter where we lived, they would ship it to me.
My shipping got to me on time and quality of clothes was worth it! Will buy again in store and online!
A little hard to navigate and find what it is you are looking for, but they sure do have a lot of stuff! Over all it was pretty good
If your company leaves, I would not have any comfortable environment to stock clothing and I would be Very Sad! I like to walk around the Woman's Clothing Section!
Tip for consumers:
They might hire you to stock up the clothing department which has a variety of clothes.
