Overall, JCP is the best shopping site anyone can visit. They have quality items and a great value. I have been shopping at their brick and mortor stores for a long time, now my online experience is wonderful. Nothing makes me more happy than to browse their website (my go to place for fashion, beauty, home and gifts). Everything I need is just a click away. There is no question, if I order something from JCP it will be a quality item. I have never been disappointed. My favorite brands women's clothing LIz Claiborn and A.N.A. I have only had to return someting once, it was simple as it could be. Customer service talk to people in a respectful manner and are willing to help explain returns etc. JCP is a no stress place to shop. Thank you JCP and keep up the great job!
I will start by saying that I have made many JCPenney purchases. Within the past 3-4 months, my experiences have been spiraling to a fast decline. I online ordered a pair of shoes. I received a box with the correct size, but the shoes inside were of a different size. In order to process a return - I would have to pay $8 to return them by mail, or drive 1.5 hours to return it back to the store. Why should I have to pay for their fault? Most recently, JCPenney had a promotion called the Gold Coupon Giveaway that went on August 1st-4th, 2024. I revealed 50% off coupon code. I ordered 11 items. 10 days after ordering, I check on the status online. 2 of the items says "Cancelled." The other 9 items say "Backordered." I called customer service - as they apparently do not have a chat feature - to inquire why I didn't receive an email/notification of the cancelled items, why I haven't received a refund, how I somehow picked out 11 items that are all basically not available for purchase, and when they anticipate the backordered items would be back in supply. I got put on hold for the CSR to inquire about the refund, he told me, "It looks like they forgot to push the refund through." I asked why I hadn't been notified of the items status update, he told me, "We don't do that." How is it possible that I picked 11 items that are all not available? He said, "We are overwhelmed by the orders that we received during that promotion, and our suppliers is out of 80% of the items ordered." Should I expect to eventually get the 9 items that are on backorder? He said, "Likely they will be cancelled." Great! For those that utilized a coupon, and their entire order gets cancelled - do they get an extension/exception to utilize the coupon? He said, "Nope. We are cancelling orders that had the 50% coupon used." It has been 3 weeks since I ordered - all items have been cancelled now - no refund still to date, no email communication. Be wary. Their marketing and customer service practices are less than couthful. I am picturing law firms putting out an abundancy of commercials for compensation, in the near future - for mal-retail services rendered by JCPenney.

I placed an order at midnight last night. It asked for my form of payment, and immediately stated "thank you for your order" It did not give me the opportunity to change the address to where it was being shipped. I was shipping to my daughter in law in FL.I am in CA. I called customer service immediately and received an automated system telling me to call back in the morning. I called back to modify the address first thing this morning. A Philippino (very difficult to understand) woman told me that my order could not be modified in any way once the order was placed. I said that the order was not supposed to ship for another week, and asked "why is it not possible to change the address?" She told me sorry that is our policy. They cannot change the address once the order is placed, and I could not even cancel the order because it was beyond 30 minutes after the order was placed. I asked to speak with a manager, Vince in Escalations, also in the Philippines that told me the exact same thing. This customer service is crap and I will never place another online order with JCPenney. It's forcing me to give at least one star so I will. BE ADVISED, THERE ARE NO MODIFICATIONS ALLOWED TO ORDERS ONCE PLACED, AND JCP CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE AND NOT EVEN IN THIS COUNTRY the best I can hope for is that I will get a notification from UPS and have hopefully an opportunity to change the address at that point. That was the "" managers"recommendation.

I was about to complete an online purchase of dress shirts. JC Penny had a by one get another for a penny promotion. The website wouldn't apply the promotion I thought I was entitled to. I began an online chat with an agent who identifed as "Florence." It turned out the shirts where slightly different categories, which would void the promotion. Florence was generous enough to agree the apply the promotion anyway. For some reason our online chat was disrupted. I accessed the chat line and this time "Arlette" answered. She said "Florence wasn't available. I told her what happened. I explained what happened. She claimed to have discussed the event with "Florence." For some reason, "Arlette" refused to honor my conversation with "Florence."
The whole episode was frustrating, time-consuming and nonproductive from a customer service and customer retention perspective. I have been a lifetime customer of JC Penny's. I've been rooting for this company since learning of their dire economic problems for which it appears that they will not survive. However, the shoddy way I was treated is perhaps symptomatic and predictive of the causes of their potential demise. JC Pennys seems intent on shooting themselves in their own foot.
Until I see a sign of an improvement in their customer service practices, I will not shop there again.

1st one died, had to return, 2nd died, no recourse, lost $50.00, no recourse, went into the bin, in about a month. No support, do not buy here.
Do not order items online. The products may not exist. EVEN if you're choosing the option to PICK UP in store and the site indicates such are available, there is VERY LITTLE GUARANTEE those items are in stock. After placing an initial order, with some items being shipped and choosing to have some AVAILABLE for pick-up in store, I received notice HOURS later that 8 of 10 items are in stock at the store location where the site told me to pick them up. So, then I decide to go online and order the other 8 items to be shipped to my home. Just got notice, there's a change in my order status (this after working the new order through an online customer service rep)... meaning the items aren't available at all. This doesn't seem like a big deal but I was ordering similar items for three daughters, now I've hodge podge items. And, of course, the two items that can be fulfilled at the store, I now have to trek to go pick up. BOTTOMLINE: Even if you place your order there's no guarantee those items even exist. RECHECK and DOUBLE CHECK your email because even if you get a confirmation initially, the order can and will likely be cancelled by JC Penney. BETTER YET, do not order from the site AT ALL.

I have been a JC Penney shopper for years; however, my husband and I relocated from Ohio to Florida and I did not use my JC Penney card for a couple of years, and my account was closed. When I wanted to shop online again, I found that JC Penney now uses Synchrony Bank to issue their credit card. I went through the whole process of applying for a new card (through Synchrony Bank) and was ultimately approved and told that my card would arrive in approximately 10 days.
The card did arrive, but activating the card turned into a circle of calls. I kept getting automated responses/instructions on how to activate the card, then I would be directed to call the number I had just called, then I would be disconnected. This went on for an hour, always ending up at the place I started.
At this point, I decided to look at customer reviews related to this JC Penney Mastercard issued by Synchrony Bank. I found that there were multiple reviews from people whose credit score/rating had been adversely affected by having and/or using this card (their credit score dropped by as much as 30 points).
I did further research regarding what happens if I did not activate and/or use the card. The answer is, it doesn't matter whether or not I activate or use the card; it is considered an open account from the day it was approved and will be a part of my credit score. I decided to call the number that was listed with my card again (the one that revolves back to the starting point) and cancel my card. As noted above, prior to this I had had a JC Penney card for years and took advantage of sales, reward program, etc. Had I known that applying for a new card would carry so many negative results, I would never have applied.
My advice to anyone considering applying for a JC Penney Mastercard through Synchrony Bank is: Do your research FIRST. In the long run, it appears (to me) that there are way more disadvantages than advantages to having this card.

Read all of the reviews about delivery of JC Penney Furniture items. They never deliver anything. I ordered a mattress and a chair many months apart. I could never get delivery on either. Just absolute insanity from customer service, to the point that it felt like I had to be on Punked. I think the whole point is to take people's money and then keep it, at interest, for as long as they can without issuing a refund. They are propping up their failing business with this fraudulent sales scam. Even when you finally cancel in exasperation, you still aren't going to get a refund for as long as they can possibly string you along. And don't believe that they are "subcontracting" delivery. There is no actual delivery service. It's just JCPenney's personnel who know the game and are doing what they were hired to do: keep your money for as long as they can without refunding it. They put you on hold over and over for 10 - 15 minutes per time and then hang up on you. They transfer you around, but no one can ever get in touch with anyone. They can't ever answer a question. They say they'll call back but never do. You leave messages but they never return your call. And every call you make, no matter what the number you call or what location they might claim, is exactly the same place.
They use different names, but you are dealing with the same people. They know what they are supposed to do and they all do it. They stall. They have your money and they are going to hang on to it for as long as they can. Believe me when I say this: you are NEVER going to get delivery. And, you aren't going to get a refund for a long, long time.
I ordered a refrigerator and the washer dryer set from JCPenny and the same was scheduled to be delivered on Aug 15th 2017. Later on we changed the delivery date to 29th july. And guess what, they didn't deliver it on 29th without informing us. We waited the entire day for the shipment and kept on calling customer service but no one responded. The next day started with calling customer service and a guy named Andrew/Bob from the JCPenny store replied and fixed the delivery date to be on 9th of Aug 2017. And again guess what, on 9th also they didn't deliver the products and now telling us very rudely that its not JCPenny's fault and we have to talk to LG for all these messes they are creating. The customer service lady is extremely rude and doesn't even know how to talk to the customers who are in so much trouble just because of JCPenny. They are not even ready to compensate and not accepting their fault. Now they are saying the delivery can be done in aug 15th only. In this Texas Summer i am ending up being not having a washer drier and a refrigerator to have food at home. Extremely bad decision on our part to choose JCPenny over other stores for appliances. NEVER BUY APPLIANCES FROM JCPENNY. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER.
This was the worst online shopping experience of my life. I ordered this bracelet on 11/27/2017. The bracelet was shipped on 11/30/2017. The bracelet was "expected" to be delivered on 11/12/2017. I called customer "service" on 11/13/2017. There was a wait time of 50 minutes. Thereafter the rep said the package should arrive tomorrow. It didn't arrive so I called customer "service" back. There was another wait time of 50 minutes. The rep said the package should arrive tomorrow. It didn't so I called customer "service" back. There was, yep you guessed it, a 50 minute wait. The rep said the shipper is behind so the package will arrive next week. I asked for a refund because I can't wait to receive the gift that close to Christmas. All of a sudden a supervisor got on the phone and magically gave me the UPS tracking number and told me the package would arrive today. Why couldn't the first rep give me the UPS tracking number? UPS truck arrives and I"m excited to see the bracelet I bought my wife for Christmas only to find the package was empty. So I gave the envelope back to the UPS driver and asked why the envelop was empty. The UPS driver found a slit in the envelope indicating the bracelet was stolen. I refused the package and called customer "service" back. As expected, I waited 60 minutes and talked to a supervisor. I am now waiting for my refund.
Why does customer "service" have such a long wait time? Why doesn't the chat work? Why isn't there an online option for customer service? Why would JCP ship a $1,300 bracelet in a cheap envelop? Why wouldn't JCP provide a tracking number when the package ships so I can track my package and try to be home instead of leaving the package on my front porch?
Never, never, never again will I buy anything from JCP.
Never shop with JCPenney, BBB complaints and proposed resolutions that they promised but never followed through. Im done with them.

Asked JCPennys about the status of my recliner delivery, they failed to provide a status. Customer service kept up the excuses and the executive customer service along with its CEO is AWAL.
Personally i like shopping at outlet malls, pep boys, sack's 5th, ebay, overstock and tradsey. Ill say this tho, for collane or perfume sephoria is an exelent shop, for both men and women! Where JC Penney contracts that department, they also do so for other specific lineup. Suchas, i been looking for shorts one year, and i couldnt quit find what i was looking for in feel and comfort. At JC Penney, there it was, Vans Refurbish Antique line of shorts, pretty much penline polo dress pants thats trimed and tailored into shorts. Even bigger supprise, these shorts were not at the vans distributors, or even the retail outlet, but at JC Penney alone. My Bed Headboard custom made by catalog order, was out of date, JC Penney reopened the contract with the crafter just to fullfill the order. Also again, i have not been able to find a suede half sleigh moderen headboad threw any other furniture retailer. Time and time again, JC Penney has rare items and goes beyond expected customer service satisfaction needs.
Today 6/23/23 I opened a JcPenney ad and reminder sent by email. I noticed they had toddler specials, so I decided to take advantage of the great deals, I also was ordering items with no deals business I had a coupon that was mailed out to me, I was using that coupon for those items that qualify for the coupon. Once I entered the coupon code 3 of the items thar were on sale went from $4.99 or $5.99 to $12.99 or more, so I decided to start a chat since the system always offers to start a chat if we have a concern, I share my concern and the chat person kept telling me to wait and to give him a moment, out of a sudden I checked back my shopping cart and they had already encreased all the prices! I asked the chat person the reason and he was acting like he didn't know what was going on and to give him my cart ID information, I went to my shopping cart again to try to find the ID # he was asking for and the system automatically took me back to the chat, I tried a few times. He stated he wasn't able to access my cart because I wasn't signed in to my account, I went ahead and signed in hoping to see the sale prices I was getting from the beginning, and the only reason I reached out to them was to avoid placing 2 orders and had to pay the shipping. Instead of them apologizing for their system glitch and thanking me because of me they noticed there was an error in the system with prices and deals they pretend they didn't know and said they weren't able to help me and respect the prices I was getting at the beginning. The chat person asked to call the customer service number, I called right away and they were worse. So it is very ridiculous and negligence from there part not being able to assist in the proper manner a good customer from years. Will never recommend and hopefully don't have to buy from theme again.
I cannot recommend people to not shop and buy at or with JCPenny and JCPenny.com.
They are terrible and extremely disappointing when comes to caring about their customers. I purchased an item on Jan 16th as part of MLK sale for an event that was happening on Jan 22nd. When ordered my item it was promised delivery by Jan 20th 2023. Item never arrives as promised at time of order. When I contacted customer service to track the order.I was told my item did not ship until the 19th and I wouldn't be receiving it until the 25th. The event it was ordered for was Saturday the 21st. When it gets here on the 25th I will not have any use for the item I only purchased from JCPenny because they promised it would arrive by the 29th.
As far as I am concerned JCPENNY and JCPenny.com can shut down tomorrow and Go out of business in 2023 and it will nit hurt my feelings at all.
If you want to be severally disappointed then waste your time and spend hard earned money at JCPenny stores or use JCPenny.com.
