Overall, JCP is the best shopping site anyone can visit. They have quality items and a great value. I have been shopping at their brick and mortor stores for a long time, now my online experience is wonderful. Nothing makes me more happy than to browse their website (my go to place for fashion, beauty, home and gifts). Everything I need is just a click away. There is no question, if I order something from JCP it will be a quality item. I have never been disappointed. My favorite brands women's clothing LIz Claiborn and A.N.A. I have only had to return someting once, it was simple as it could be. Customer service talk to people in a respectful manner and are willing to help explain returns etc. JCP is a no stress place to shop. Thank you JCP and keep up the great job!
I will start by saying that I have made many JCPenney purchases. Within the past 3-4 months, my experiences have been spiraling to a fast decline. I online ordered a pair of shoes. I received a box with the correct size, but the shoes inside were of a different size. In order to process a return - I would have to pay $8 to return them by mail, or drive 1.5 hours to return it back to the store. Why should I have to pay for their fault? Most recently, JCPenney had a promotion called the Gold Coupon Giveaway that went on August 1st-4th, 2024. I revealed 50% off coupon code. I ordered 11 items. 10 days after ordering, I check on the status online. 2 of the items says "Cancelled." The other 9 items say "Backordered." I called customer service - as they apparently do not have a chat feature - to inquire why I didn't receive an email/notification of the cancelled items, why I haven't received a refund, how I somehow picked out 11 items that are all basically not available for purchase, and when they anticipate the backordered items would be back in supply. I got put on hold for the CSR to inquire about the refund, he told me, "It looks like they forgot to push the refund through." I asked why I hadn't been notified of the items status update, he told me, "We don't do that." How is it possible that I picked 11 items that are all not available? He said, "We are overwhelmed by the orders that we received during that promotion, and our suppliers is out of 80% of the items ordered." Should I expect to eventually get the 9 items that are on backorder? He said, "Likely they will be cancelled." Great! For those that utilized a coupon, and their entire order gets cancelled - do they get an extension/exception to utilize the coupon? He said, "Nope. We are cancelling orders that had the 50% coupon used." It has been 3 weeks since I ordered - all items have been cancelled now - no refund still to date, no email communication. Be wary. Their marketing and customer service practices are less than couthful. I am picturing law firms putting out an abundancy of commercials for compensation, in the near future - for mal-retail services rendered by JCPenney.
Wiregrass location(Jose) would not honor a price match with receipt for an crew t-shirt in store purchase within 5 days of original purchase date and looking to purchase 7 more of the same shirt in different colors. I was told to call customer service to see what they could do for me. Called customer service (Hennesey) and they would not help honor the price either. Left on hold for 20 + minutes to be hung up on by Hennessy. Why does this have to be so difficult!
I recently placed an online order at JC Penney. I paid for the shipping to my local store. I placed my order over 2 weeks ago and I still am waiting for my order. This is ridiculous and unacceptable. No wonder they are about to go under.

Never received.
I spent time choosing some make up that was on sale on the site. The 2 main items I wanted from the order were cancelled the next day from because they were "out of stock". The other items from order I kind of added to qualify for free shipping so I'm not to thrilled that they are the only items I received. I went to the site the next day and could still put those same items in my cart. I called and spoke to customer service and asked them to make the items unavailable online. Guess, what I just tried again and can still add them to my cart. Really? That says a lot and I wont bother trying their site for anything again.
2nd issue I've had in 7.5 months with orders through online. 1st issue couldn't order item online even though it was in stock. Go to the store and couldn't get the online sale price even though it proved to be an issue with their system as the manager tried on his phone. Now they cancel an order for "payment" when they took the money from my card when I ordered it. They don't tell the truth. Either it's out of stock or probably a horrible marketing technique and didn't even have it to start. Too many times items said out of stock and they actually had stock.
JCPenney is a company that is generally expensive. Sometimes I am able to walk in and find deals that I like, but that is not often. Once I heard about a deal about towels for a penny. I went in all excited and turns out that that JCPenney location does not sell bath towels. Biggest waste of time of my life.
On a Friday evening, I ordered some pants from Amazon and, a couple of hours later, order more pants from JCP.com. The JCP order arrived on Tuesday morning, the Amazon order not until 3 days later on Friday afternoon. So much for Amazon's amazingly fast shipping. I did not have to return this order but have returned JCP orders in the past with no hassle whatsoever. All things being equal, fast shipping and great customer service make the difference.
Tip for consumers:
Website cam be a little cumbersome to navigate but worth a try.
I'm extremely unhappy with the company's rebates, which are not rebates at all. I am receiving gift cards for the store. So ~ I'm not getting my money back. JCPenney is keeping it as I have to use the gift card at the store.
Paid over $9.00 to have a piece of clothing delivered. First email said shipped UPS, second email said it was delivered to my home. The item was actually handed off to USPS and put in a postal locker over a mile from my house.
{ place a prder # **************. They cancelled half of my order and coupon because they dont have a item. Customer services dont even listen my options so I hope you going to close a lot of marketplace soon continuing this route.Store 1953date pick up 50 percent of my items 05/05/2021

I'm tall, so I can only order online. What I really like is that you can search by size, color, style...
So you aren't "generally" bothered by seeing clothes that are on sale but not your size. Sometimes, you select the item to find it's out of stock, but not usually.
I ordered product on line which was promised to be delivered in 4-7 business days. After 15 business days and no product, I called the store and they had no record of my order. Called 800 number, sat on hold for 15 minutes, then the lady accidentally hung up on me. Called back, got someone else, and she and her supervisor have no idea what happened to my order and suggested I try to cancel it. Not possible to cancel my on line order on line or on the phone, so i have to go into the store to do it! So frustrating. Will absolutely never order from them again. Antiquated order system and terrible customer service.
Penney's used to sell average, decent fashion. I never go there anymore because the clothes are poorly designed and made. The clothes are usually made from cheap feeling and looking fabric.
Just go to Walmart and save some money.
I was at Sephora in Deerbrook mall area with my teenage daughter and we were treated very rudely by Mary who wasn't very happy to be there or helping customers. Her attitude made us go to complain to the manager but nothing was resolved. Me and my daughter are very good customers at Sephora at the galleria store which has always been very professional, Sephora should choose it's employees with a higher standard. Very disappointing
I have used them quite often and have always gotten the product as it was advertised. They made my returns and exchanges easy. Site is easy to move through and I find the check out easy and worry free as well.
I was very unhappy with vanity set I bought from online. The merchandise part was made from cardboard which was torn in two places. The box it came in was not damaged or foam in box was not damaged. So this meant it was damaged at factory and package this way. For what I paid for I would think it would of been made such better. Then to top it off I have called approx three times and finally was told the truck company would called and I been waiting over a week and no call. So I again called today and all I was told trucking firm would call me sometime next week. Your company about to lose a long valued customer. First person I talked to was rude and not understanding. Then she or someone hung up on me.

Spend an hour to get to the customer service to talk about a delivery issue on a furniture order online. After an hour of waiting transferred to furniture department and waited for another half hour to talk to someone.
Not sure how they are still in business! Stay away, there are lots of options out there.
I use to love JCPenneys. The employees were always so helpful and knowledgeable. Time has changed things. As different problems have occured, I have dismissed the headaches and have been hopeful that things would be better the next time. That is not the case. At this point I find poor selections of clothing, sales people that are not knowledgeable and can't seem to solve issues, and managers that should not be there. Everytime I purchase from JCPenneys, I am unhappy.Sadly, I will no longer be shopping there.
They sells stuff they know is out of stock, they are aware of the issue and refuse to fix it. They actually told me to repurchase the item I had already purchased to see if it would ship this time as it was still being sold a week after I had bought it and was told it was out of stock. However it was not on sale anymore and I still had not received a rebate on the one I had already bought.
Why does it take so long to get a chair for a dining set? Three are fine, but one is defective. It has taken at least a month to get the items we have. Now I have to wait to receive another chair. I am fearful that the chair will be worse then the one I have.
I purchased a comforter, but when it came, it did not look like anything like the one online or the quality. When I went to return it to the store, I was told I would have to pay for the shipping as they were charged by UPS to deliver it. After speaking to a manager, they did give me a full refund, but were not happy about it.
JCPenny the store of my heart affordable and great they have different styles to fit any shape of any age. The best part about it is that I can go anywhere or even at home and shop shop shop, whether its for my husband, my family or friends, the option is there.
I have a jcpenney master card and I get my bill in the mail. I pay my bill every month. Well last month they decided to send my bill through my email so I didn't get it so I didn't pay. Needless to say they declined my card so I can't use it. When I called they said I have to pay $64 right now to use my card. It was there fault for doing paperless without me knowing this so I am punished for it. That is bull $#*!. They make the mistake and we pay for it. I have excellent credit so I will shred this card and get another credit card. They can take my business ( which I have NEVER missed a payment) and shove it up their $#*!.
Placed an order to receive next day, not only did I not receive it the next day when I called to follow up on this was told it was delayed and I would be receiving my order the next day. Next day follow up on website only to find out that my order still had not shipped. When i spoke to customer service these people are great at not providing the information and actions asked for.
This will be my last attempt to purchase from this company.
I spend over an hour picking out Christmas and birthday items on-line. I ordered 33 items. My order never came so I called the 800 number. I was told the order was "lost". No apologies, no compensation for my time. They never contacted me, I had to contact them. Left me scrambling for the birthday gifts last-minute. I do not want to do business with Penney's anymore. Not a dependable company. No wonder they are on the brink of bankrupcy!
Quite pleased with the Cook's toaster oven, works very well. Where JC Penney failed completely was with the rebate, this is why I hadn't done a rebate in over 5 years prior to this scam. Never received the rebate never was a working method to check on the rebate. JC Penney so desperate they now deceive customers. Crooked.
