I came across this website in a searching for notable people of Lancaster. I was instantly in hysterics when I saw the home page of the website. The model shot of the beautiful man that the website is supposedly named for is all well and good, but when paired with the tautological slogan "WINNERS WIN," I cannot help but laugh at the absurdity. Not only is the phrase utterly un-profound, it is also divisive in nature. It implicitly categorizes people into black-and-white factions of winners and non-winners (dare I say "losers"). This is very unlikely to inspire or empower anyone who does not already consider herself/himself to be a winner, and only feeds into a culture of narcissism for those who do consider themselves winners. I cannot tell if the picture of the man laughing is Jordan Steffy, or someone who is laughing at Jordan Steffy.
Beneath the home page is a grid of organizations with which Mr. Steffy is affiliated. There is a brief description and an awkward attempt at being emotionally relatable paired with each organization. (On second thought, one has no description at all.)
Below these is yet another grid containing links to what I presume are six important areas of Mr. Steffy's life, such as "Running" and "Reading." Of particular note is the "Quotes" tab which contains eight of Mr. Steffy's favorite quotes. Six of them are not credited, one is from MLK Jr., and the last one is a quote from the famous Jordan Steffy himself. I had another hearty laugh at the "Cheeseburger and Fries" section, which reads, "This text is a place holder to show what it will look like with some content." The "Football" link contains the equivalent to a newborn baby's outfit: nothing.
Scroll down further and you find an unsolved Rubik's Cube. Its purpose is unidentified. Perhaps it is to suggest intelligence. Perhaps its unsolved nature is meant to mirror this unfinished website. Perhaps it is a reflection of what a puzzle this site is--is it a promotion or a parody?
Finally, at the very bottom of the page, we learn that the website is copyrighted by the man himself. Perhaps it's not a joke after all...
