“Best care”

Fedra T.
5/1/24

I recently had a procedure and I was originally so afraid. The nurses held my hand and assured me that everything would be fine. Before i knew it, it was over. So much after care support. I am very happy at Kaiser

“Why doesn't California do something about Kaiser?”

M H.
8/23/24

I have had a detached retina and subsequent cataract rendering me legally blind in my eye. Surgery was needed. Kaiser put me in line and made me wait 3.5 months for "elective" eye surgery. One week before surgery, Kaiser cancelled my surgery and said I had to wait three additional months. When I asked why I don't go to the front of the line since I've already waited three months, the brainwashed doctor(s) said that is not how Kaiser works. That will make six months of no work and income for my family. Why doesn't the State see Kaiser has signed up too many people, taking their 15k a year, and will not provide services. Since Kaiser is self-policed by having internal investigations for wrongdoing, they circle the wagons and keep on victimizing patients. California, step up and stop these atrocities from occurring. Stop them from signing up any more companies or patients until they can perform in a humane way.

Unbelievably inadequate, substandard care. Why do they get away with it? Because you can't sue. But, report to CMS, JAHCO and board of medicine. The first two will trigger a investigation, the third will show up on the physician's record.

94 year old Pt discharged after hypotension episodes. No physical therapy ordered. Patient fell down when trying to get in his home. Suffered a compound fracture of elbow with bone sticking out. Got antibiotics by mouth and 3 STAPLES in his elbow. Standard of care is a physical therapy evaluation prior to discharge (1st admission) and IV antibiotics for a compound fracture.

Substandard care. Pompous and arrogant emergency room physician in Walnut Creek, CA who chose staples over sutures for a 94 year old man.

The worst. Received a bill in error and despite calling, emailing and chatting with customer service it's still hanging around. Dealing with these people is less fun than banging my head against the wall. If you have any other options with regard to health care I highly recommend you explore them before you sign up with this "organization."

Out-patient care is good if you doctor hunt and find a good doctor. Some specialist are good but most are mediocre at best and when you are really sick (me) and go to the hospital that's when it all goes down hill. Dirty, old hospitals with terrible "care". They run tests, kick you out the door and mean time still suffering. NO diagnosis or misdiagnosis. Trying real hard to switch plans. Need to wait for open enrollment. Hope I'm still alive by then.

Kaiser is the worst health care. If you have a choice in the matter don't come here. Lets just get started with my first pcp who said don't worry only white people get skin cancer. Any issues I have are always blown off. Sure they'll send you for labs but if the lab they ordered shows nothing they never follow up. I have had friends and family members who had surgeries gone wrong

I'm never really sick, but now that I am, I can't reach my doctor or ANY doctor at that. It's like a nightmare, and if I make it out of this alive I will be so thankful. It's as though you're left fending for yourself with your healthcare. You have to guess a lot because they don't answer you back

Over the decades 3 generations of my family have been a members -both privately and with a group. Your experience may vary greatly depending on your location. I live in a "desirable" area which is attractive to professionals.
Years ago Kaiser made a concerted effort to improve patient relations, and I have seen that effort sustained. If you don't feel a rapport with your doctor, CHANGE DOCTORS! It's easy to do; you don't have to explain why.
I like the free Mail Order pharmacy & the easy email to your doctor. There are also no-cost phone appointments. Really learn about your conditions and medications so you can ask the best questions.

61 year old male. I have been with Kaiser since a child. Currently have my entire family with them and I am appalled at the length of time to see your primary, trying to make an appointment, and hearing back from anyone. Their phone system is one giant loop system. This is not the Kaiser I grew up with. I am amazed the ratings from so called government sources they are 10 out of 10. Sounds like the fox watching the hen house to me. Please dont be fooled try another medical provider.

Bare minimum is what you will get. ER doctors walk by you for an entire shift and not even acknowledge you. My 80 year old father who has stage 4 cancer and who can't move on his own was in an emergency room bed for over 25 hours and was not turned or moved regularly. It is so disheartening to watch your love one suffering and you can't do anything about it. Thank you Kaiser for making a bad situation worse.

I have been treated like a criminal on more than one occasion by Kaiser staff while I'm sick with cancer. I cannot wait to get some other healthcare provider. If it were one bad apple, I could forgive it, but it's a pattern. They are understaffed and the staff they do have are terrible. Their member services do nothing when you complain and they have so many lawyers, it does not matter if there is gross negligence they will support the lying doctors at the patient's loss. If I could give negative stars, I would.

Good, cheap healthcare - Kaiser has gotten a lot of bad press over the years, but they offer good, cheap health insurance. They have high deductible monthly plans starting at $80 a month for an individual. Although they emphasize efficiency, they doctors are not that bad and do care about their patients. Kaiser is probably best for young, healthy people and lower income families. But net net, good value healthcare can be had by all.

I have had Kaiser for eight years now and I always gave them high marks, but I am now really sick for the very first time and no one here could care less. My doctor doesn't seem the least bit interested in diagnosing and treating my condition and other departments that provide specialized services have long wait times and are completely unsympathetic in getting me the testing and treatment that I need. I will be changing to another provider next year.

The worst. Received 4 bills and despite calling, emailing and chatting with customer service, I was still forced to pay. Prior to our appointments I called and was told they were all covered by the insurance. They will not let you listen to your customer service calls to prove it. Dealing with these people is less fun than banging my head against the wall. If you have any other options with regard to health care I highly recommend you explore them before you sign up with this "organization."

Too many issues to list here, but Kaiser is simply horrible. I worked there for several years,, as a Mgr for Inpatient Care. That was 20+ years ago, and I got out because of the politics involved... My sister was a NICU RN for 30+ years, until their lack of treatment killed her... Just horrible that this place is given a 5 star rating my Medicare. They've got the politicians in their pocket... it's sickening.

My family has used Kaiser in San Diego for ~3 years. The system and doctors have been great. You do need to be actively involved in your own healthcare but that's not different from most of the other providers I've used in the last 20 years.

I don't know what happened to Kaiser but I'm definitely going to change my health care to a different provider! I had to wait in my car in the heat sick as a dog for 3.5 hours. I am never able to get appointments so it's either urgent care or ER. My primary has to many patients to see always it's month out to be seen. URGENT Care in La Mesa is a joke. They pick who they want to see first and make you wait. Drs are not very knowledgeable or even do tests to diagnos someone. They will blame it on a virus or flu and send you back home it's not worth going. Better to go to ER. But of coarse you have to pay more!

Tip for consumers:
They should not charge people who are sick to wait in there car for almost 4 hours they need to hire more physicians so we can all be seen in a timely fashion.

Everything about kaiser is complicated and unnecessary. Just trying to call to make an appointment is a nightmare you can do it online which hardly ever works you have to repeat your information to three people before you can even talk to the department you're wanting to. Their online website is very annoying and when you call the Calls service center you'll be put on hold for the rest of your life find another medical company if you can, trust me.

I had this health insurance for thirty years and never really needed it. Once I needed it, they diagnosed me with something I don't have and every time I contacted them with a new symptom, it was due to my (incorrect) diagnosis. I really can't say anything good about KP in the mid-Atlantic region. I waited for open enrollment and switched my coverage now that I am not well. Maybe a real doctor can help me.

Called several times to Kaiser. Spoke to Aurora and she could not help hung up on me when I explained to her we were frustrated about our services. We have called to utilize our insurance because my husband works in construction and got a follicle or something in his eye! Kaiser did not help us we needed to go to Walmart Dr to check because Kaiser could not help him unless ER! What? Crazy? Why do we pay for ins? Then all your representatives have no clue what they are talking about and hung up on me! Very disappointed!

Their services are getting worse and worse every year. Out of three health emergencies, I had one okay surgery, followed by a potentially dangerous mis-diagnoses, followed by one nightmarish bypass and recovery experience I'll never forget. I will be using another provider next time.

Kaiser is a death trap for patience average wait was 6.5 hours. People had too sit in chairs for 6 plus hours. Most of the staff is rude and unprofessional. The very sick were just left on their wheel chairs.

What is happening with the customer service as Kaiser Fontana and Kaiser Ontario. If you go to urgent care, you are sent to Emergency, and of course, you have to pay extra for emergency even when your symptoms are an emergency, but you need health care. You can't get appointments any longer, and if you do it is three to four months away for something very simple. I pay thousands of dollars annually for Kaiser and the service is just gone downhill. Once my open enrollment begins, I will be done with Kaiser, it has gotten horrible. Anyone thinking of using Kaiser, please beware!

I was a member of Kaiser Permanente for 50 years and it has changed for the worse! I got out and I am glad I did! The quality of care has become inferior and even my own doctor told me he can not do a proper job due to the workload. I had a horribly botched surgery at Kaiser and they are worthless when something goes wrong.

A kaiser Permanente doctor postponed my appointment for two weeks without any reason. I waited two weeks for my appointment until one week was left when the nurse called me and said the doctor will not see you because he will be on vacation leave. The nurse give me appointment with another doctor an extra wait time of two weeks. If the first doctor knew he will be on vacation, why he accepted my appointment at the first time and then rejected. I reported the issue to the administration offices and so far nothing has happened. I just do not understand why Medicare rated Kaiser Permanente with 5 STARS Rating?, I will definitely reconsider my health coverage with Kaiser in the next term of renewal.and will file complaint with Medicare. Kaiser looks like a financial institution rather than a health and wellness clinic.

Back when the covid hit, my brother sat in the lot of Kaiser sick. Told him to go home was the flu. In coma 3 days later with covid for 34 day. Then during a yearly checkup, would not give PSA test. A year later, he has prostate cancer that is now spread to back, stage 4. He is in his 60's. Shame on you Kaiser. I know of many others they have screwed over. Piece of crap organization.

If you want to die, come on down to Kaiser where they are always short staffed and incompetent individuals that work here. If the Er is full start moving people into rooms upstairs. My husband had cone in for stomach pains and nausea. We checked in at 10:30 pm they ran all kinds of tests won't let family in the waiting rooms most likely because we would light a fire under there butts and it's 1:28am and still nothing no results no okay let's see if this could be going on nothing. This hospital should close its doors cause it's awful the worst. I hope corporate does read this. I would love to tell them how awful the service is and it's not the first tine either. Come November when my husband has to change his insurance plan thru work Kaiser can kiss this family good bye.
