“Best care”

Fedra T.
5/1/24

I recently had a procedure and I was originally so afraid. The nurses held my hand and assured me that everything would be fine. Before i knew it, it was over. So much after care support. I am very happy at Kaiser

“Why doesn't California do something about Kaiser?”

M H.
8/23/24

I have had a detached retina and subsequent cataract rendering me legally blind in my eye. Surgery was needed. Kaiser put me in line and made me wait 3.5 months for "elective" eye surgery. One week before surgery, Kaiser cancelled my surgery and said I had to wait three additional months. When I asked why I don't go to the front of the line since I've already waited three months, the brainwashed doctor(s) said that is not how Kaiser works. That will make six months of no work and income for my family. Why doesn't the State see Kaiser has signed up too many people, taking their 15k a year, and will not provide services. Since Kaiser is self-policed by having internal investigations for wrongdoing, they circle the wagons and keep on victimizing patients. California, step up and stop these atrocities from occurring. Stop them from signing up any more companies or patients until they can perform in a humane way.

Every expirence ive had using them, was like i was a number, they offer only basic preventative maintenance at best. They tend to ignore your concerns then rush you out the door with minimal help. Their in patient network is a mess they will send you further away from your home instead of local for a consult or help. Only to find out you could have seen someone local. I have an on going medical condition that they havent been able to diagnose correctly in the last 4 years. An 1000$s of dollars in bills for theses we dont know appointments. Had testing done and not informed of the cost until after the fact leading to even more money owed. But no answers.

Only insurance we can take. Horrible, life threating treatment by their "doctors". The doctors are immigrants from other countries that haven't gotten their license in the USA yet. They do not know how to treat my disease and they almost killed me in surgery. Got sexually harassed by two male laboratory techs. Pharmacy lacks modern drugs, and doctors don't perform modern procedures. Bad service all around. Please take to any other insurance; this place is only for the desperate!

Their hands are tied by trying to save money. You have to try the cheapest alternatives first before you can move onto effective treatments. You are their research gunnypig. They will overcharge. Too bad if you don't catch it. They have no accountability. They employ doctors known for poor performance and won't get rid of them. Any complaint/grievance has no follow up. It just goes right into the receptacle called the cloud - never to be seen or followed up on again.

Tip for consumers:
Don't use their infertility department. Don't trust the pharmacy. They screw up orders with no accountability.

Quality of Service is Horrible at Best
1. I keep my appointment time, but the wait time is more than 30 min every time.
2. RE: Injection Clinique at Homestead, Santa Clara, is bad. They don't pick up the phone. I left the message to return calls, but they don't. I tried again and get message saying that their message box is full and cannot take any more messages.

This is horrible service. I am considering changing my provider.

My partner has stage IV cancer. The treatment he is receiving from Kaiser is really substandard. He goes months without seeing his oncologist; everything is done via e-mail, no physical examinations. While other organizations have cancer teams to deal with the side effects of chemo and other problems one might have, with Kaiser your basically on your own. If you feel sick, send your doctor an e-mail. They might answer it. It sucks. Stay away from this horrible organization.

My Primary Care doctor is great. However, my experiences with Specialty providers have not been good since 2008. I feel like one condition is blamed for everything. I get this cursory "exam" them hussled out. Today's experience was no different. My questions didn't get answered. The doctor kept saying the same thing but in a different way. I left feeling so discouraged. I understand that all business have to be careful about cost, especially during these times. But, I left there feeling like I am just a cost them, not a human being. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Tip for consumers:
If you have chronic conditions these health care provider would not be the best choice.

Went to Zion to fill a prescription, they wouldn't fill one of them because my son is 5 months away from 18 years.
They did however fill it at another pharmacy.
By the time we could get it somewhere else, he was in so much pain.
She rolled her eyes around when I asked her to send it to another pharmacy.
Terrible place to go.
Kaiser took longer than the wisdom teeth extraction.

Since Monday I have played phone tag with my primary Drs nurse. The advice nurse and now it's Friday. The weekend. Still no medication no appointment. In my opinion as an RN I should hv been referred to another dept like internal medicine or infection control. But instead was referred to ophthalmology AGAIN. Even though they did zilch for me. Now I hv to suffer through the weekend with no medical care. Maybe next week I'll be able to get some medical care Maybe.? I'm hoping Wish me luck

I have a Bronze plan with KP. They are not interested in your healthcare, it is merely a business doing its best to screw you, the patient, out of as much money as possible. It is obscene that I have paid over $7500 this year for "health insurance" and the only treatment I've received is one free flu shot. The state of healthcare in America is atrocious. All health insurance companies need serious regulatory changes. KP, Lifewise, Regency, Molina, they are all a big scam it is endemic and everyone knows it.

I spent the night in ER because there were no hospital beds available, and yet I was charged for a semi-private hospital bed, a bed I was never admitted to. They have refused to offer me an explanation as to why I'm being charged for a service I never received. Doesn't that constitute fraud?

Avoid this company at all costs. Everything about this company is 3rd World, but then again, 3rd World countries probably have better care than Kaiser. If you need an appointment, they will gladly see you 4-6 months from now. Their doctors are the best that phony Caribbean schools can offer (except for the few doctors who went to legitimate schools, but have had a few malpractice 'hiccups' along the way). And wait to you deal with their over-the-phone system... straight out of 1975, complete with accidental hang-ups (if they really are accidental). Yes, you can have all of this great treatment for the low price of $1000+ a month, along with a high deductible. Avoid this company if you can.

My employer switched to Kaiser last open enrollment period so I had to as well. Pre pandemic they were ok. Couldn't get in to see a dr but at least video calls were available. Since the pandemic forget it. When I call or my son does, as he's on the plan, we are lost in a sea of prompts and if we get lucky and get an "appointment " the dr who is supposed to call back doesn't. It's awful.

A few weeks ago, I levied a negative review of medical care being provided by Kaiser Permanente. Now, I feel compelled to extend my apology to KP's medical team for my recent allegations/complaints. I extend an apologize based on the following reasons: Upon hearing of my complaints, I was immediately contacted by medical staff members expressing concern over my complaints. Without delay, my personal physician and others, identified and eliminated the sources of my frustrations. I'm impressed by the urgency with witch my complaints have been addressed. Apparently, my issues had festered due to miscommunications and a level of misunderstandings on my part. Again, I extend my apology based on the speed with which my frustrations were identified and resolved. In retrospect, I must say that the Kaiser Permanente motto "We Aim to Please" is well justified. Thank you very much. J. Wise

First went there with a court order for therapy for my daughter after her father lost custody. I told them I can fax over the court ordered therapy as well as the paperwork stating I have full custody. I was told over the phone "maybe don't send the court ordered therapy part, just send the paperwork that you have full custody" (Which is all one report by the way). When I got there in person they told me the therapist decided if their patients need therapy and then they receive mental health services. The fact that they evade responsibility of needing to follow a court order is not a good sign. Also went there just for a pre-employment health screening and they had me spend 25 minutes in the Kaiser North Bay building for Kaiser employee health checks instead of room 128 in the medical office area. I was told they have back to back appointments and I would have to reschedule after being sent to the wrong place in the hospital.

The worst experience that I ever had. I felt that I am at a third-world country's emergency room. You have to wait and wait and wait for 5-6 hours before they saw me after a car accident. They jeopardized my life and when I complained, it is easy for them to say sorry. If you have choice to choose an emergency room, do not go there.

Kelly Jordan, did an outstanding job of assisting my son, who was visiting from out of state. She was our first contact at Kaiser as we sought urgent medical attention for an inflammation of psoriasis that appeared infected. We arrived inadvertently at Kaiser Doctor Offices on 6104 Old Branch Ave vs Kaiser Urgent Care. She quickly assessed the situation and arranged a standby appointment. He was seen in an hour or so and given the care he needed. Kelly was caring concerned and professional. She is the embodiment of compassionate care and Kaiser is fortunate to have her as a representative.
My son indicated he was treated quite well by the Nurse and Doctor who treated him and feels his Kaiser membership was a real blessing during this potentially serious emergency. The facility was well maintained
And all the employees seemed to be pleasant & cordial. I have not delt with Kaiser for decades and I was quite impressed with the quality of care we received on this visit.

My doctor ordered MRI to be taken within 24-48 hours, but the earliest appt was over 1 month. I had to call 1-800 number and after several calls, several representatives, and several hours, I did manage to get an appt that was two weeks earlier (still too late according to doctor's orders) at a KP facility 2 hours away. I feel to get the care you need you have to be persistent and complain loudly. Unfortunately, if you don't speak English or have time or have skills in managing people, you will be stuck with what they give you. And what they give you often does not meet the standard of care that they themselves establish.

Southern California receptionist are just plain mean. As if they have a power trip. People already do not like going to the hospital and the make it even more uncomfortable and uneasy to just be there. And for making an appointment on KP.org its a 50-50% chance that its actually scheduled. I made an appt. To the KP in Baldwin Park, CA and showed up only to be told that an appt was never made. I had to wait about 2 hours to be seen and even then they said its not a guarantee. Um, I work too and I took off time relying on the websites appt confirmation only to be told this. KP is my only medical choice from my job, sad.

Kaiser Permanente has been part of my life for decades. Since 2016 their care SUCKS, Especially their Mental Health. Every Doctor and Nurse I've seen has told me they constantly live in fear that Kaiser is going to get rid of them. One employee told me recently that their current executive leadership said in an all hands meeting that Kaiser doesn't care about quality anymore, if things are 80% that's good enough. I'm having to go outside of Kaiser to get competent Healthcare. All executives currently at KP should be immediately fired.

Nurses don't listen and get lost in their algorithm systems. Don't collect a full assessment of issue and then never even make an appointment. Kaiser needs more doctors to give in person appointments and less desensitized phone monkey nurses.

I picked the absolutely most expensive I could find because I am a 37 year old man and I have never seen a doctor. I figured it would be good to be highly covered in case there was any problems.

I have had the insurance for 5 months now, I have yet to see a doctor (ok there was a pandemic) but then they skipped doing their scheduled phone doctor visit. I asked them if I could see a psychiatrist for depression and it was ignored.

I would like to get screened for all the things a 37 year old man that has never been to the doctor should get screened for. But they have not scheduled any tests or screenings - apparently I am supposed to schedule everything myself. Well, I don't even know what all things I should be taking care of - because I am not a doctor.

I have zero access to medical services of any kind - its just a scam to get me to pay for other people to get care.

Tip for consumers:
We live in a post health care world. If you get cancer or something you are better off using this money to go to a country with nice beaches and enjoy a few days in paradise and just let nature kill you.
