I recently had a procedure and I was originally so afraid. The nurses held my hand and assured me that everything would be fine. Before i knew it, it was over. So much after care support. I am very happy at Kaiser
I have had a detached retina and subsequent cataract rendering me legally blind in my eye. Surgery was needed. Kaiser put me in line and made me wait 3.5 months for "elective" eye surgery. One week before surgery, Kaiser cancelled my surgery and said I had to wait three additional months. When I asked why I don't go to the front of the line since I've already waited three months, the brainwashed doctor(s) said that is not how Kaiser works. That will make six months of no work and income for my family. Why doesn't the State see Kaiser has signed up too many people, taking their 15k a year, and will not provide services. Since Kaiser is self-policed by having internal investigations for wrongdoing, they circle the wagons and keep on victimizing patients. California, step up and stop these atrocities from occurring. Stop them from signing up any more companies or patients until they can perform in a humane way.
I have been a part of the Kaiser network since I was a child. As a matter of fact, I was born there and my children were too. Unfortunately, recently, I discovered a Kaiser that I hope no one ever has to experience. Prior to two months ago, I really appreciated the Kaiser network. However, that has drastically changed. A family member was diagnosed with a serious disease that resulted in being hospitalized. I never realized that Kaiser will provide decent care until 21 days and then rush you out because they don't get paid. I didn't realize that Kaiser is a drug dealing business machine who "thrives" on drugging their patients to feel better. Doctors rush through to see as many patients as possible as time is money. 15 minutes in and out. Their case managers maintain the company line of what they can't do, won't do. One of their social workers rushed off the phone. One doctor did not return my call for 5 days even though the system showed she received messages. When she finally called, she said well I saw you called so i am calling but I don't have time see you and you're not even in my area. Even though my family member is her patient. I have so many stories. If you have the option of not choosing this network, don't. They are ok for general wellness care, but anything related to hospital care is extremely poor. If you ever end up on the hospital side or need specialized care, you will quickly discover how uncompassionate, uncaring, and how much they merely are about the Business of Kaiser versus anyone as a patient.
I went to see Dr. kenning at kaiser.
I had an infected bellybutton. She was more concerned about eating her lunch, than examining me and taking culture of my bellybutton fluid. She is horrible.
I have no idea what has happened to Kaiser Permanente, but they have seriously gone downhill since I was last with them 2000-2010. I have had a Neurologist overseeing part of my care since the 1990s. I rejoined 2021 and was actually told by two Kaiser Primary Care Practitioners I could 'not' see a Neurologist and the Rx from my Sharp Neurological Surgeon - of exemplary standing - was bad - and they would not refill it - and that I need vitamin supplements and acupuncture instead. Seriously?
Friends. I'm game for any preventative care, but as a life long Neurological patient... ya. No. This is not a solution. It is ignorance at the Primary Care levels.
I have been in an 8 month fight - EiGHT months, friends - a fight to receive something close to appropriate care. It has not happened yet. So I am writing to hopefully help others from making the same mistake I did (foolishly switching to Kaiser). Don't do it.
I am removing both myself and daughter from Kaiser Permanente insurance at Open Enrollment. There is no hope for this company on their current path, and it is very sad. I hope will take my review seriously, and choose another health insurance provider.
To your continued health and success, friends.
My insurance was terminated. I go through covered ca, and I did not receive notice of cancellation. I found out my policy was cancelled by attempting to make an appointment for a physical.
They are horrible they will not cover any clinic in my area. In order to get coverage I have to drive at least 20 miles if not more. They at one time covered my primary doctor until they built a building near her now even though I pay for insurance I have to pay cash to see a doctor I actually trust. I've been to some of there clinics before they shut them down that were actually closer to where I live and all but a couple of there doctors and nurses told me I didn't have what I was coming in to see them about and said they might not treat me. I have had to tell them they need to actually test me for the things I'm coming in for and treat me or I would go to the ER after all that headache it came back I did have what I came in for. They have tried to deny me refills on non narcotic perceptions before and different birth controls before. Lucky my doctor who I'm forced to pay out of pocket fought that. They assigned me one of there male primary doctors without my consent and when I had them change it they gave me a doctor that only works the days I work so I asked them to change that again they didn't I have to bring all my medical information into the doctor I have seen for 10 years because they will not list her on my medical records. This last visit they refused to cover my antibiotics lucky the pharmacy used there discount card so I could actually afford. The only reason I stay with them at all is my employer pays for a lot of it. I don't qualify for any stat medical even though I'm paying every month for medical that covers less then state medical dose. There horrible.
This is what you get with a Medicare 5-star rating at Kaiser California. 11 months ago, I explain to my doctor that when if stand to long or walk after 2 to 4 blocks, I get intense pain around my mid extremities. The doctor recommend acupuncture. After 6 sessions I was still having issues and I let him know. After 4 months I am still having the same problems. He tells me he does not know what is going on. Two months after this I have this same conversation with another doctor, stating that if I stand or walk after 2 to 4 blocks, I get intense pain around my mid extremities. She recommends that I get another opinion. About two months later I have an appointment with a new doctor. I explain to him that if I stand to long or walk after 2 to 4 blocks, I get intense pain around my mid extremities. He orders a scan. On my next visit he tells me that he does not see anything wrong. Two months later I once again have this same conversation with my partner. She tells me NOT KAISER that it sounds like a hernia. Two days later I have another appointment with a Kaiser doctor, and she confirmed that I do have a hernia. Why did it take 11 months and three Kaiser doctors to find this out? Now, I get a referral to see a surgeon. She wants to perform outpatient surgery. The only catch is you must drive 30 minutes to a place that is in the middle of nowhere, when I have 3 maybe 4 different place that are only 5 to 10 minutes away. If you like this type of treatment or lack of treatment, then Kaiser California is your answer.

Listen Americans, if you think this money making enterprise wants to help you, you are totally wrong. This is basically, a money making machine: They just support the pharmaceutical money making machine. MY sister was killed by Kaiser permanente: They knew that the chemotherapy was not going to save her but they did not care even though I complained: Chemotherapy is a killing therapy but makes billions of dollars. Also, in my case, they did not want to offer me a doctor that I needed: They just put me a "young", supposed a doctor, VERY SICK, maybe coming from Pakistan or some of these countries abused by the system, and Kaiser DID NOT offer me any possible of the many therapies: This is the truth. KAISER PERMANENTE is a criminal money making machine.
So I've been dealing with the debacle of Kaiser for many years now. The enormous bureaucracy of a multi billion dollar business it seems at every turn to make things way more difficult and they have to be came to ahead for me today. For 13 years I've taken a prescription and how she sleep at night that prevents me from sleepwalking. 13 years ago I almost died sleepwalking in an injury. The same medication that I've been taking for 13 years was sent over by my doctor to be refilled as a prescription. I drove to the Kaiser pharmacy. The supposed manager came up and said that I was too early to pick up this particular prescription. Now for the first 13 years of taking this prescription there was no too early. It's a very small dose of a substance that it's not even deadly. Now I don't have the prescription that helps me sleep at night and I've run out of the pills. If you ever wonder if just refilling your prescription at Walgreens or CVS with any other provider other than Kaiser would be a good idea and then perhaps the answersYes. Absolute terrible bureaucracy it doesn't care about healing helping people that only cares about covering it's On liability. What a joke. Don't ever go to the Kaiser Vallejo 24 hour pharmacy. Go anywhere else.
I am so disappointed in Kaiser. We have had Kaiser for over 40 years. We have always been extremely satisfied with both the high quality of care and ease of obtaining a appointment when needed. (San Diego and surrounding areas and Woodland Hills and surrounding area). We have a choice on our healthcare and Kaiser is more expensive then their competitors, but we have always felt that it was worth the cost. We moved to the Inland Empire a few years ago and have continued to experienced a very difficult time just getting a appointment. Recently my husband has had heart issues and needs to be seen by either his cardiologist or his primary care physician. After 3 days of talking to the appointment center and nurses the appointments to be seen are 2 to 4 months out. This is unacceptable. The only solution they had was to suggest that he go to urgent care or the ER. It is evident that Kaiser Permanente in the Inland Empire does not have enough Physicians. So if you have a choice for your healthcare in the inland empire (Riverside, Corona, Moreno Valley, Palm Springs, San Bernardino, Redlands) I would strongly discourage you from choosing Kaiser. After 40 plus years it's time to choose a new Health Care provider. Unfortunately I have to rate with 1star when in Fact it should be Zero
I went to kaiser ER.for an x-ray of my back.as of all of a sudden I felt as if my hip got dislocated,I do have fibromayalgia, and scoliosis, and acouple of month before I had been in car accident.so the female that was taking x-ray asked me why was I walking the way I was.i told her that i didn't know and that.I was in extremely pain.she denied services because the only way she could've tooken the x-ray was only if I had fallen.I tryed telling her that ever since car accident my hip gets dislocated like this.but she ignored me n said no it wasn't the car accident.so as bad as I was she made me walk about halfamile to pik up some patches that didn't even work.I stayed with this pain and without walking for about 3 month..
I had a terrible experience with Dr. Johnny Moreno Orozco from Lake Forest Kaiser Office, Kaiser did not take my complaint. Then I find out this Doctor make a false after visit report and again Kaiser do not wants to take my complaint. VERY DISSATISFIED
I have been with Kaiser formerly known as Group Health for over 40 years. For the first time ever I have misplaced my Multiple Sclerosis Medication. I called them and they said I needed to complete a police report for lost medication. I did that. They then informed me I would be responsible for the cost since Kaiser insurance does not cover lost or stolen medicine. They said they cost would be over $9K! I can't afford that. The caveat is if I go off the medicine for 14 days I then need to be monitored for six hours upon my first dose again. The pharmaceutical said they would send me an emergency dose out for free once I got the prescription from my pharmacy. Kaiser said they will not do that because then it voids my existing prescription. Mind you, I was diagnosed in 2002 and this is the first time I have EVER "lost" my medicine. I think I may have thrown it out on accident. With MS, it's easy to be "spacey" when tired. The bottle also was extremely light. I am livid. I know run the risk of having an MS exasterbation, not being able to care for kids and work. I have to wait over two weeks to refill. This has proven Kaiser does not care about their patients. I have always stood up for Kaiser but I will never recommend them to anyone after this.

Gilenya Multiple Sclerosis Medication. Over $9k a month. I have been a paying patient for over 40 years. I am beyond disappointed
This insurance is good only till you do not need any services from them and just keep paying the premiums.
The day you get any medical condition and need services, you are screwed.
No medical care whatsoever. Kaiser is here to earn money. No intentions to take care of their members.
Their member services and grievance process is a joke.
You'll die making calls to member services and raising complaints but no actions.
Every time they will have just one answer for you - Go to an emergency. Would you prefer to go to emergency for the same issue over and over and keep paying hefty bills?
Why can't Kaiser do a proper diagnosis and starts a proper treatment plan and do the follow-up appointments?
I have gone through preventive procedures (Colonoscopy and Endoscopy) for stomach and Kaiser doctor messed it up (Kaiser hires mediocre doctors so that they do not have to pay much and can earn more money).
Since then i m bed ridden from a healty person. They made my life hell and now not taking any responsibility for it.
Every day and night is in pain for last 1.5 months. Struggling to get any care from Kaiser. I have to make a thousand calls, emails, and complaints but still struggling. I have to tell them can you do an ultrasound, can you do urine work... to diagnose what mess their GI doctor has done to my health. They are not doing any actions from their end to diagnose the issues and do proper treatment.
The doctor who did the procedures not even responding and not ready to take any responsibility.
This organization need serious improvements.
I am a first time Kaiser member and all I needed help was to get a Member Card so I know my Member ID, which I need to make appointments, I called 4 different numbers that they have online and my first call was horrible, the guy literally hung up on me, the second time was answered but they redirected me to another number that did not work so it hung up on me again, the third time, a lady answered and just hung up on me, fourth time, yes you guessed it right, hung up on me again, so as you can see, Kaiser is the worst hospital to ever be a member in, I'm hoping Kaiser will fix these issues since they are a big company, they get millions of money from Tax payers and has the worst service ever!

Don't recommend Kaiser, the worst!

No help at all
It is clear that the KP customer service budget has gone into masked selling activities instead of solutions. They are very good at calling you for reminders and setting up more and more tests but try to negotiate with the finance department and you get sent into voicemail hell, finally pointing you to the Internet labyrinth. My $60 co-pay "checkup" turned into three additional laboratory bills, each listing a different amount and due date, so far totaling over $300. I signed up because they advertised free preventive care and I still don't know when the bills stop rolling in!
Update...
At the next call to sign up for a new test I complained about the preventive care bills and eventually got them to reverse charges and credit my account. When my annual plan renewed I had to renegotiate a monthly fee based on fluctuating income (entrepreneur with unknown income cycles), I fought for six months to reduce my fees and keep my coverage. Ultimately, it took an appeal to Covered CA to get Kaiser to take notice and reinstate my coverage, followed by repeated corrections to the number of months that had been paid.
Fast forward...
Once all that got settled I lost half my clients to economic conditions and Kaiser dropped me for late payment. I do not qualify for Medicaire or Medi-Cal. Thanks Affordable Care Act, for giving Kaiser free reign to terrorize the self-employed! I am guessing I can fight back once I can pay the past due premiums but what a nightmare to maintain the financial aspect!
All this for preventive care... hope I never get sick and actually need their services!
My child is special needs has seen the same doctor since she was 8! Had Just turned 18. She needed a limited conservatorship to ensure her safety into adulthood as she is unable to make informed medical decisions. There was one form the court needed *her doctor* to complete it was a "capacity declaration" surely her psych of 10 years could assess her capacity to complete the form? Nope! She flat out refused. I filed a grievance, that got me absolutely nowhere apparently Kaiser has a "legal team" they can consult with on issues such as these to which advised doctor that she doesn't have to do it if she doesn't WANT to. No other doctor within Kaiser would do it if my own child's doctor would not. Put us in a tricky spot!
Doctor brought "her god" (her words exactly) "my god knows my intentions" into the conversation I believe it was her religion that she chose to not complete the form. It left us in limbo. Absolutely no one would help us! Ended up going out of network and paying out of pocket for a doctor who has never met my daughter to assess her and within 30 min filled in this form (my adult child functions on a 8 year old level at 18 years old) thank god we got it and were able to continue court and her conservatorship was ultimately approved.
Negligence on kaisers part! We left and will NEVER be back!
Good points: everything under 1 roof, easy referrals to other departments since everyone is connected in the same organization, easy to pick up prescriptions, can email doctor and even send pics, can save time to avoid scheduling an appointment. Better than having no health insurance at all.
Bad points: Kaiser is the Walmart of medicine. They will smile, and then do the absolute bare minimum, with the expectation that the patient should be the one to tell them what's wrong and what procedures they want and what medication to prescribe. Doctors and nurses are overbooked and emotionally absent. They move patients through like an assembly system. Each patient is just a number and a time stamp and a dollar amount. Classes are full of useless information. Lactation consultants aren't adequately trained. X-ray/Radiologists barely even look at you as they hurry through the procedure. Expect to hear patients yelling in the hallways as they loose patience with the substandard care, especially for sick or elderly relatives. The medical professionals literally don't care if they hurt you during a procedure, and are unnecessarily rough during procedures. They just tell you to stop being a baby, even if you're crying or can't breathe.
I have been unable to speak to my doctor since 2018. I was unable to see my primary. A simple work note takes 30 days to review and process. Worse insurance plan. Will not recommend it to anyone
Employee Angelique called my cell and said "can you answer a question, I just need to speak with someone who can answer a question. I asked who she wanted to speak with and regarding what. All she said was can you answer a question. I thought it was a joke so o hung up. She called again and very rudely said " you don't even know how to answer correctly, you can't even answer, why did you hang up!" I once again askers who she wanted to speak with and and now she finally said someone from HR and I told her this was no company or HR, this was my personal cell number. She did not even apologize, all she said was" you see, why didn't you tell me that since the beginning!" I told her I had no reason to answer her questions when she never answered mine and she was calling my number. I asked who she wanted to speak with the first time and all she said was "can you answer a question". I guess she was mad because she hung up on me. She was the rudest person ever, and she even dared to call me rude. I don't even have any business with Kaiser, they should teach they're employees how to properly make a call an customer service skills. Angelique had no clue of what customer service means
I waited 2 WEEKS for a damn call to ask me a couple questions about my past history. I told them I needed birth control and moles checked since my mother died of cancer a year ago. They said they will call me back. I didn't hear anything from them. I call on the 9th of July to see what's going on they told me they don't have a schedule out for JULY TO JANUARY. It's over a week into July and THERES NO SCHEDULE. I've been stuck with a birth control inside of me which I'm scared to take out before knowing when I will get another one. The customer service rep insisted there is NOTHING she can do for me. Honestly never had such horrible service in my life. Have no idea why I'm even paying for insurance. I had Aetna (which I NEVER PAID A COPAY) and before that I had blue cross, blue shield. Don't do it to yourself. Go with ANYONE ELSE BUT KP
Trying to get an appointment isn't very good. Appointments timing are impossible to get. A week is good but a 3 week wait not good. I had this problem for over a 6 months.
My husband fall down and make 5 surgeries. He can not move all his left side. He can not walk. Then the hospital send him to the rehabilitation centre. Then has had blood clot in this rehabilitation. But after few days, and although the Doctor in Denver Health says he can not walk or use his leg unit 2 months. Kaiser discharge him from the rehabilitation.( They do not evaluate our home. And the bathroom and shower are upstairs. They are 14 stairs and the social worker of kaiser do not show up although we calling him many time). They told they will sent the nurse and therapist to our home because he has high blood sugar and he can not move.
Now 5 days and nobody's come. We call them many time and ask where the nurse come. They tell that they do not know when. Yesterday he has very hard headaches I call kaiser many time to speak the doctor. The doctor don not answer. Kaiser is very bad. Be imagining that the rehabilitation centre told if you have Medicate is more better than kaiser. Do not choose kaiser if you are sick. It is very
Bad. Their doctors And all staff are careless.

Sons insurance is through Kaiser Permanente. Son was in a car accident but was not feeling well the next day so went to urgent care. Urgent care advised we might be better served at Kaisers Trauma center at Aurora Hospital. Got to the Kaiser Trauma center in Aurora Hospital and was greeted by a covid patient checking in ahead of us, fever coughing, can't breath, the husband with covid checking in behind us... nothing done to isolate, they were left in the general waiting room. Hack, hack, hack... serenaded us as we waited. Blood on the waiting room floor dried no attempt to clean. Bathroom, vomit in the sink, smeared blood on the floor. No spacing from other patients and no one, not a soul attempting to clean anything! Note we and five other patients waited in the waiting room. I have quarantined for a year and Kaiser sends us into the bowels of HELL! For all this, we were advised nothing they can do for a concussion... yet Kaiser could do nothing at Urgent care... except guarantee our exposure. I will sue the living F out of Kaiser if I contract this now after being so careful! This place was an absolute TOILET! BEWARE!
I was trying to solve a problem for my mom about her broken arm so I decided to call member services and the sweet operator her name was Kira she was absolutely amazing she got us in touch with a manager to help resolve our problem very nice she was absolutely sweet she understood how I felt what was going on and did everything in her power to help solve the problem therefore I want to say all hail to Kira excellent work keep up the good work girl and thank you again!
I am very disappointed and very frustrated with Dermatology Department at Kaiser. If you have any choice on health care do not use Kaiser. There is nothing I can say as a positive from diagnosis to treatment to responsiveness. They are like a bad auto mechanic searching for a short term fix to get you out of the garage. I have had a serious rash for over a year now with no real improvement based on treatment from Kaiser even though I have followed and complied with all their many experimentations including biopsies, light treatment, ointments etc. Now the prescribed Betamethasone is taking a toll on my skin, it has become brittle. For some reason they will not prescribe Dupixent, so now I am again waiting on the next experiment for my skin. If I could get insurance elsewhere I would but I am locked into Kaiser. I'm sure with the number of patients they see this is not a big deal, but it is to me and there is just no sense of urgency on their part to help me resolve this issue. Terrible compassion from medical providers.
