Most reviews are about their lack of service. I encountered some of the service issues also, but the real problem is the quality of the job. There are bumps in the driveway and the surface started to break up is less than a year. Now it is a year and half later and the surface is very rough and covered with gravel loosened from the surface. A paving consultant I hired tells me Kaplan didn't prepare the base adequately and did not compact the top layer to the correct density. The consultant also states Kaplan should have done the first layer one day, let it dry overnight, and done the top layer the next day as backing the trucks over the first layer before it is cooled destroys the integrity of the first layer. My conclusion and the consultants conclusion is Kaplan really lacks the technical knowledge to do a long lasting quality job. They are, however, low cost. Another lesson in one gets what one pays for.
