I drove over 2 hours to see a puppy. When I got there the puppy looked ok. But the parents were filthy and matted and The sire was looking petrified. They had him hidden until I asked to see him. The puppy had smelly ears so I figured it had an ear infection or something going on. The puppy was also living in a cage on the barn floor with some hay. I almost bought him, but my gut said no. I looked again and he is sold. I hope someone has luck with him and he is healthy.
Lancaster Puppies is a horrific puppy mill. Do not believe the pictures - this is one of PA's worst puppy mills. This a Puppy Mill - it is NOT an Adoption Center. DO NOT BUY, rescue from a REAL shelter.

Go to a ASPCA or Humane Center

Wanted to adopt a dog but was a horrific puppy mill
The puppy advertised in the picture is not the one we purchased (ours is much more cute) although the "middle women" said he was. The breeder is not the one selling the puppies the "middle lady" housed many pups in her barn (which we were not permitted to see b/c she "had not cleaned it") knew nothing about the background of the puppy or the mother. This was our first time buying so we thought it was standard as she said she was just selling/showing them them bc the breeder had no room to keep them. We asked the name of the breeder and was only given a first name, she "couldn't remember" his last name. (Through research we found out) We were given no medical info except a basic vet info. We should have walked away, but the pup was so sweet and adorable, we fell in love. He is still precious and loving and life w/o him would not be the same without him.
Since we brought him home, we've spent over $4000 so far for care and a surgery is inevitable. A mediocre vet would have found the congenital disorder but there was no mention of an issue.
We drove 7 hours to an Amish area of Ohio in the middle of nowhere to get him. We were hesitant but paid, in cash (which the "middle lady" was glad to grab) for him. We'd spend a million dollars to keep our baby healthy but would NEVER use Lancaster Puppies again. I wish we'd conducted more research.
If this sounds like your situation, RUN. Don't look at the puppy, don't talk to anyone, don't even stop your car. It was a complete business transaction and not an act of love.

We decided to breed our dog for our boys to have the experience of having puppies. It was a one-time thing; we don't plan to do it again. We listed them for sale on Lancaster Puppies. I did not receive any calls, texts, or emails from any prospective buyers. There weren't even any page views for 9 of the 10 listings on their seller view. We ended up finding new homes for our puppies by local flyers and a sign in our yard. I contacted the admin to ask what went wrong and if we could have a refund for the failed marketing. They claimed that their view counter was broken by google updates which is why it appeared that no one saw our ads. They denied any refund and indicated that there were two reasons we didn't have any sales from their service. 1) Our prices were too high (yet we sold them locally). 2) Puppies aren't selling well right now (again, we sold them locally). Now that I've read some reviews, I see they have a very bad reputation as a puppy mill host. I should have read reviews before I spent $190 listing all 10 of them. To prospective sellers, you're probably better off not using this service. I suspect there are some people like me marketing a litter from a family dog on the platform, but according to reviews, you will be competing against sellers with questionable ethics.
Hello Delton. We are sorry to hear of your negative experience advertising with us. There are many factors that could have caused your puppies not to sell. We have many breeders that have advertised with us for over a decade and have possitive results. We in no way support or "host" puppy mills or unethical breeding practices.
I wanted to share my experience hopefully to save the next buyer some time when purchasing from the best of Kentucky puppies from "Amanda". The paper work says Christine Schwartz as the breeder. The dog I purchased when I discussed with Amanda, they advised he could be bred and that he had no genetic health issues. When I picked him up, it was raining outside she rushed by the fact that he has one testicle dropped. Was diagnosed when he was 2 months. (She never mentioned this) until after I drove 4 hours to pick him up and she breezed by this fact twice. The health guarantee/ buyers sellers contract with them essentially makes the buyer assume all cost for what could be a very sick dog- please read carefully the agreement and honestly please just don't purchase from them. They were anxious to get me to purchase him which was a red flag. They advertised parents with different names that aren't even his parents names. Learn from my mistake- don't be swindled this is an Amish puppy mill being "brokeraged" by locals. They didn't advise me of anything including what food he was eating. The person I met with sent me a very unapologetic, rude message about this expensive sick dog they sold me, they have no integrity and their adds are false advertisement.

If you have an ounce of morals and do any research you will know this is a puppy mill. You are just as bad as them if you knowingly buy from them as well.

A lady sells fake AKC puppies with health problems out of FT MEYERS and has changed her phone number, She operated under a fake cash app name to get paid and then closed her account. I received the puppy that has liver issues and I have never received the AKC paperwork. I have reached out to her and she offered me a "credit" on her next litter. I informed her that it was genetic and that would be foolish on my end. She asked for vet documents and I have provided all of them to her. She claims the dog's parents were cleared of genetic defects... that's a lie the puppy carries 2 genetic defects. She seems to be a puppy mill cuz now she has several breeds of puppies which is weird.

Breeder's Name: Leroy Petersheim. They are located in PA. He also advertises on Buckeye Puppies.
If I could give then negative stars I would. The wife was very nice and insisted on cash. I needed a poodle mix because of my allergies. After enduring excessive shedding, I ordered a Dog DNA test. Turns out yes indeed he is Yorkshire Terrier but has 0% poodle. He is instead mixed with Australian Shepherd and Corgi. This makes a huge difference. After spending money to have him neutered, shots, and pet training I cannot keep him because my allergies are completely out of control. I am crying as I write this review because I love this dog so much and I have to rehome him due to my severe allergies. When I called him he insisted that the dog was a Yorkipoo and that DNA tests are not valid. Really? Also why would he shed? They said return him for a refund. Why would I return this cute innocent dog to people who treat him like a commodity. They'd either put him down or resell him again as a Yorkipoo. I'd rather have him go to a good home. So buyer beware! These people will lie to your face and take your money with no qualms whatsoever.
Tip for consumers:
Just don't buy from people on this site. They will look at you and lie to your face. All they care about is the money.

We located several dog breeders on Lancaster puppies, which is a classified website for dog breeders. They are not dog breeders themselves. It's a classified site same as your local newspaper has a classified section. Since it's my responsibility to communicate with dog breeders, search for my puppy, do my due diligence and research, that's exactly what I did. We made appointments to view a few different puppies and we did finally settle on a goldendoodle from a very nice Farm in Pennsylvania. They had approximately 14... 15 dogs total, they did goldendoodles and labradoodles. It was a nice organized inspected kennel. We picked out our puppy and he has turned out great... perfectly healthy and now we're on our way to pick up our second puppy a year later, from a different breeder. Since the first one didn't have any available till summer. No issues no problems and you just have to do the leg work yourself. It should be apparent to anybody that you have to look over your dog and your paperwork before you purchase. That's common sense. We are happy. I would adopt a third dog from this classified site but I don't need three dogs. Two is plenty. Lol. Happy puppy hunting. Stay positive.
Thank you, Lester, for your review. We're glad you had a good experience working through our website to purchase a puppy. Enjoy your new family member!
Hi I was wondering if anyone has used Darren hilty while purchasing a dog I was looking on the site and I see you are supposed to do your research on the owners of the dogs before purchasing please let me know if anyone has a good or bad experience with him they are in grabill Indiana
While I understand that there are puppy mills in Ohio, and that lancasterpuppies.com probably does represent some, we had a very good experience in May of 2022. We contacted a representative (Anita) about a couple of portipoo's in Fredericksburg, OH, and the communication and service we received couldn't have been better. They were forthcoming with all veterinary records, took the pups to a specialist for a check at my request, and I was able to speak with several veterinarians in the area, including the one that did the first puppy check of record, to verify not only the puppies health but that the breeder is reputable. The breeder was not high volume, but was licensed, and we were interested in these particular pups because of the parent's sizes. The rep even sent us pics of the breeders kennel area to ease my mind on where they were brought up, and it was spacious and clean. We used a very reasonably priced transport company that the representative trusted and recommended (Furry Trails), and the pups were delivered to us in CO in extremely good health, and had obviously been well cared for.
They have been thriving in our home for the last month, and we couldn't be happier with our choice of pups and seller. We didn't even have to pay in full until the puppies were delivered. I of course recommend you do your due-diligence as we did before deciding, to make sure the breeder is doing a good job, but I would definitely recommend this site based on our own excellent experience.
Thank you, Jim, for your review. We're happy you had a great time purchasing a puppy through one of the sellers on our website. Enjoy your new puppy!
I advertise on Lancaster Puppies and they arent always fair. Actually they are pretty rude. They dont treat all breeders the same. They are definitely on the side of Amish breeders and not the *other breeders. They charge $17 per puppy and most times you have to pay twice. Their site is outdated, a lil slow and the worse is if one does anything wrong at all. As in, even on accident like break a posting rule, they will delete your ads and no refund. They dont care. To say the least the Amish men that run the site are pretty rude sounding and if you aint Amish, they even ruder. Thing is they make money on us breeders. Lots, they clearing at least $250,000 a year for sure. For sure. Customers are no better. Aggressive is a good word for people searching for puppies. Dont expect to be treated with respect or kindness. Dog breeders are treated like crap in general. But hold up... They all wanna buy a puppy tho. The irony.
I keep track of the folks that treat me poorly. I keep a list and give it to other breders.
I have a litter of popular puppies and I have paid for them 2 times. They don't sell.
This time I paid the $25 premium ad for each puppy. I checked their site yesterday and today also, my puppies are posted dead last. I've now spent $250 total.
What's premium for? Rip off. Just another way for them to get more money I guess. My friend has 3 puppies posted on there, and she's had to pay for hers twice so far also and no sales.
She's been advertising with them for 10 years and myself about six or seven but it's time to quit. I thought their old site was outdated but this one's just terrible. They should go back to where people whom renew their ads and keep them updated are at the top of the list.
I seen someone else posted a review and they did an update. I decided to do one myself. Good idea.
Updated December 6th 2023
My puppies are still dead last and never move from being last. Even when new people post new puppies, I'm still last. Out of 300 puppies I counted 30 ads, where they have one or two pictures only and their puppies are before mine. So I'm DONE! NOT USING LANCASTER ANYMORE! NOT UNLESS THE ADS ARE SHUFFLED OR SOME SORT OF PLAN IS CREATED THATS ACTUALLY FAIR
Hello Richie, We have recieved an abundance of positive feedback on the updated website. We are sorry that you are not pleased. The more you put into your ads, the more exposure your ad will get. The Premium ad is of course the best ad. But if your content is not what it should be, your results will reflect that. The more pictures, puppy description, parent photos, videos, etc... the better off you will be. Also, your seller profile being filled out completely helps as well. Pictures of your puppies are a major factor in selling your puppies. It is like anything else that is advertised, marketing and presentation. We have many people that post ads and within hours they have a puppy sold. And some have their whole litters sold within a few days or a week. It also depends on the breed and pricing as well. If you would like more information on how to help with your advertising, please reach out to us at contact@lancasterpuppies.com Thank you!

Fell in love with a best puppies on this website, contracted the breeders and never even received a call or message back. It's so unprofessional.
Adopt don't shop. These dogs are just money makers with breeds that are actually mutts. A doodle is nothing more than an overpriced mutt.
Hi Dogmom, Lancaster Puppies strives to bring value by connecting buyers with quality breeders on our site. Good breeders who breed responsibly are what bring us quality purebred and designer dogs that we have all come to enjoy!
Visited a nice family in the Wellsboro Pa. On a Sunday, wasnt Amish. Bought the cutest lil Toy Poodle mix. Rose is the ladys name, she does two different breeds. $2000 so cute. Their home was lovely & clean, had a few grandkids there, about 8-9 dogs and bred more than a few litters per year but not too many. Very nice set up, in the home, very clean. Filled out an application. They gave us 1 yr guarantee, health records and first vaxx were done. We named him Pip. He is now 1 year old and best little dog. Ended up 7 lbs. Good Toy size. Going back for another. Seen all these reviews. But we had zero issues at all with our breeder choice. We drove 4 hours one way too. Choose wisely i guess. If you visit a place and chose to buy a puppy. Then stuff goes wrong after purchase seems kinda hypocrite to claim later folks are a puppy mill. But YOU went to the person's home and YOU decided it was good enough to buy at that time. Does that make you a puppy mill shopper? So. There ya go. If they weren't a puppy mill the day you went and decided to buy then they arent the day you decide they are because your pup has an issue.
Thank you, Leeann, for your review. We're glad you enjoyed your experience with Lancaster Puppies and the sellers on our website. Have fun with your new furry friend!
I bought my darling theo. What I purchased was a supposed toy poodle. After taking my new puppy to the vet. He wasn't 8 weeks he was 5 my vet asked me where I purchased my puppy. It was from this site which actually was an Amish farm. The vet told me my new puppy would have health issues but of course I fell in love with him. So invested in health insurance and they tested my theo. He was not a full breed but I didn't care other than getting scammed. At abou 1.5 years old I noticed significant issue. Found out this puppy had ivdd - likely inbred. Just recently my dog woke up with the inability to walk after many many tears I had to put my dog to sleep. He was paralyzed and the disease was soo bad the neurosurgeon I took him too. Yes I planned on spending the 14k surgery suggested I not do the surgery because it was not only a 50/50 chance of addressing the issue but that it would happen again. My vet was correct he asked me if I got my puppy from an Amish farm and he told me I was signing up for health issues. I fell in love with this puppy he was my child. Only to lose him. This company needs to be shut down inbreeding their puppies scamming and charging for full breed which is not the case. The first vet appointment he had worms and all kinds of intestinal issues and did not have a micro chip like they said. I cannot emphasize enough to do NOT BUY from this site and if u ever drive up to an Amish farm RUN! Deeply broke. Hearted.

I listed and paid for a posting on 2:09pm 12-3-21 and the posting was not published until approximately 3:42pm 12-6-21. I sent several forms messages to Lancaster Puppies, and did not receive a response until after the second submission in which in had to threaten to cancel the listing transaction. The female rep that called me lied to me several times stating she emailed me, which she didn't. She stated my listing was listed when I paid for it, but it wasn't. Ten minutes before she called the listing was not posted. During the call I checked and my listing had just been posted when she called which put my listing as the first puppy on the page. If it had been listed for several days, it wouldn't have been first. Lastly, when I wanted her to credit my listing for the days it wasn't listed she refused and when I requested to speak to a manager she insisted no one in the company is higher than her. Basically, this lady didn't do her job and was trying to cover herself. She then threatened to block my account if I cancel the transaction. Lancaster Puppies has shady personnel.
