“Quick and easy”

Nancy E.

Quick and easy. Am very happy with the result. It has helped our situation with our disability child who just turned 18 years old to give us power of attorney as before we could access everything for him now we have to go down this road.

“Just trying to complete wills for myself and my husband...”

Larry K.
10/30/24

Just trying to complete wills for myself and my husband this weekend. Friend told us about you versus other online products. I wasn't prompted to set up an account, then it wanted me to open my account with the password I set it up with (which had not been completed yet). I tried to change my password 2-3 times. Each time I was told an email would be sent to accomplish this. No such email was received for any of the requests to change it. I did get 3 other unrelated emails. Frustrating. LOL

I wish I could give a lower rating. THEY ARE THIEVES. The system relies on you forgetting to cancel after the free subscription period of 2 days. You would think a legal firm had more integrity. Their personnel have no compassion and will NEVER refund you when asked. If you must use their service, be VERY careful.

My free trial turned out better than I expected. I was expecting the worst.
- My PayPal account was not charged and
- it was easy to cancel.

But I hesitated to even go with the trial as the pricing seemed like a trap:
A one-week free trial that turns into $33/month ($396/year) if you continue.
Or sign up for a One Year Pro account for $95.88 which is just $7.99/month.

It also wasn't clear if during the trial I would be able to download my document and print it easily. I was able to download in. DOC format, save to my hard drive fix a few things and then print out. I was concerned I could only print directly from the cloud.

My concerns turned out to be unnecessary and their website could explain things better.

I came close to switching to the yearly contract during the free trial, but at this time the one document was all that I need. I may sign up later and go with the yearly service.

Tip for consumers:
If you go with the free trial remember to quit before it ends, switch to the Yearly service or be ready to pay the $33/month

Great feedback, thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience. Your comments have been forwarded to our Marketing team for review. To clarify, if you select any of the license options including the one week free trial, you can print, edit and download documents. If you prepay for the year which is $95.88, we offer a significant discount because you are prepaying. If the 7 day free trial is cancelled within 7 days, there are no charges. If the offer is not cancelled, the option reverts to the $33.00 per month plan until cancelled and you can cancel at any time.

My daughter is putting together a business plan for herself and some schoolfriends, so she used this website - it says "enter details, review the plan and print it out". What it doesn't say is that once you've entered the details, you can't see what you've entered until you sign up (with credit card details). If this is the "free, try before you buy experience", i. E. not making it clear that you need to put in credit card details, it makes me want to steer clear from paying money to them.

Got the help needed to complete an important document for me. Very satisfied with Ms. Hall's help. She was very informed about the process and guided me through setting up an account password, etc. along with other questions.

There is nothing free about this website. If there was ever a unscrupulous business like Lawdepot.com, all the owners would need jail time. This was my experience and I hope I can help others avoid a terrible business.

Janet Metz is the delightfully patient person from whom I received step-by-step assistance. Whoever hired her made an excellent choice. I gladly give her a "Five Star Rating", and would give her a "Sixth" were that star available.

The website is very user friendly and it was easy to find the content I needed. Customer Service was wonderful! I was happy to actually get a person on the phone quickly and without going through endless computer prompts. She was polite and able to get me exactly what I needed in very little time. Thank you for providing such a helpful service and making it easy from start to finish. I would definately recommend your company to anyone I know.

I needed 1 form. I thought I would try this. But I forgot to go back and cancel after the first month. I was fine with paying for 1 month to get a form. But you cannot put in a cancellation date in the future. So a year later I see they are still hitting my credit card. So a single form costs me $429. I should have gone to a REAL lawyer and it would have cost 1/2 that amount. This policy is stupid and is designed to rip you off. You should just charge by a form. This is basically a trap to get a lot of money because they know you will forget to cancel.

I was pleased with the document and the help Cynthia gave. However, I was disappointed to learn that the "free" aspect of only needing one document would result in an automatic membership fee after the first two weeks unless I canceled. I do not like such a process without prior information before filling out document information. It seemed to me like a subtle strategy to get a customer like me to sign up for the 19.95 single document just to avoid the hassle of being "free" if we go through all the hoops down the road. I think that not enough information is given up front before we have to "make a selection to print your document." I was irritated that I had to pay for something that I ended up not needing at this time anyway.

I already had a subscription to a lease agreement, and it would have been nice to know up front that additional costs would be incurred to access a purchase agreement. Otherwise, why let me access your platform through the same email and password?

The site offered many different Forms not just the ones I was seeking. After printing out several I found I had made an error in the address of the Health Surrogate. I had not seen the area for different states than the one I am in. I called for help, told the lady on the phone what I had done. She said that was no problem and could be fixed. She fixed it to correct state and e-mailed the Form again, almost immediately to make it perfect. Very accommodating and helpful.

Beware. You will be auto renewed and once they renew, they will not pro-rate a return of your renewal. Be sure to cancel before the next renewal if not interested in further access to their service. On top of that, customer service is EXTREMELY rude.

The goal of the site is to get you to accept an autorenewal for monthly payments in the hope that you forget to cancel it afterward. They say so in their policy and use it as leverage to keep your money. Even if you can prove that you didn't use the service they will never give you a refund. Please note the service is managed by sharks. No regards for their customers, they will try to rip off as many people as possible instead of trying to build customer loyalty through decent service. Be careful to micro-manage your account if you go ahead with this business. They think you just have that to do, very pretentious of them. Horrible experience,

Hello Julien,

I am sorry to hear if you deemed your experience with us a horrible experience.

The Conditions were posted before you selected the monthly subscription which started of as a Trial Free for 1 week.
The site states twice that it is a 1 week Free Trial renews to a monthly fee of $33.00 after the free week. Cancel anytime within the Free week, no obligations.
An email was sent out to you confirming the service you had ordered with the date and time of the renewal to a monthly subscription.
The email also includes the process of cancellation should you not wish to continue with the service to a monthly one.
Since the subscription was not cancelled within the free week reason for the charge on your card.

Unfortunately, no refunds will be processed for a Trial Subscription that has gone to a monthly service.

We appreciate your feedback.

Divine

I was trying to gather a little more information about their services. Was put through to Monique who copied and pasted the same reply three times about how there was no one available despite the fact that it was well within their advertised working hours. I had a handful of questions about incorporating. No answers just deflection to call their 1800#. I don't want to call. I want a to live chat.

Guess I'll have to call a real lawyer.

I am a college student who was working on a project utilizing LawDepot back in January. I had clearly canceled my subscription but was continually billed through this month because I had logged into my account when I had canceled my 7-day free trial which they say is effective immediately. Trying to dispute the charges which totaled nearly $250 over the last 7 months, I called customer service who was unhelpful and unapologetic. The manager refused to give me a refund despite understanding my intent to cancel my subscription. I would not recommend this service to anyone who doesn't like being taken advantage of. It is amazing how little this company cares about those it claims it serves!

Hello Charlie,

I am sorry to hear about your experience. To clarify, our trial offer is free for one week. During that time, you can create, download and print as many documents as you need. You can cancel at any time and there is no obligation. You simply need to cancel the subscription by requesting the cancellation under Your Account or accessing live chat or phone and we'll cancel it for you within the seven-day window. You also receive an email recapping the offer details and the date and time to cancel by appearing in the email.

We do have you enter your credit card information for uninterrupted access to your documents. There are no charges to the card if the trial offer is cancelled within the seven-day trial period. If you were billed for several months which shows monthly in your bank statement, that would mean you have not cancelled the subscription at all. Unfortunately, no refunds will be processed for a Free Trial for 1 week turned into a monthly subscription.

I appreciate your feedback and we'll continue to work on our website to improve all areas of service.

I saw that there was a credit card sign up at the end of the form and decided to check the reviews, as I am having to supply my n
Bank deets and am aware of false website. I would have been happy to submit my details with an option to cancel, which allows you a free document, had there not been so many reviews saying that it was difficult to cancel.

But you can simply copy and paste into word. So for me the service was very good. I would be happy paying if I required and more detailed document but I simply required a one off tenant agreement. Thank you for the service

This company is as shady as they come. I recently realized I had been charged $33.00 a month thru my paypal account for over a year for a document I was led to believe was free. When I contacted Law depot I was told that maybe the email advising the re-ocurring charges were sent to the wrong email address. They took it upon themselves to locate and charge my paypal account through an email without my authorization. Long story short my free document cost more than an actual attorney would charge.

Lisa, when you selected the 7 day free trial offer, that particular offer does clearly state that you do need to cancel within 7 days or the account converts to the monthly $33.00 per month plan until cancelled. The next page is the credit card page and the cancellation information appears again so that you clearly understand the need to cancel. Within minutes of selecting that offer and completing check out, we sent you an email confirming the offer details again and the date and time to cancel by appear in bold font. The email is confirmed as sent to the email address that you entered, if you entered a valid email address, that is where the confirmation email would be sent. We also sent another email on the day the offer converted to the monthly plan to advise you of the charge. When you contacted us on August 12/16, our agent cancelled the account and provided courtesy refunds for February to July/16.

Like the previous reviewer, I would be happy to pay $20 for a correctly drafted will. What I object to is the fact that this site creates the misleading impression that legal documents are free; they are not unless one enrolls in the free trial, agrees to recurring credit card charges, and then remembers to cancel within 7 days. Why not simply be upfront on the site's HOME page and tell prospective users that there will be a charge for documents unless they agree to a 7-day trial, which will result in recurring charges unless cancelled?

Sneaky Sneaky, they will charge you for their "FREE" forms, don't give a credit card and not read the very fine print. 4 months later, the "FREE" form cost me $132.00. Shame on you Canada for allowing this company to steal from people.

I called to see if my agreement could be emailed to me bc I it was not saving from my computer. The representative Esther M. Acted as though I was inconveniencing and suggested I try on other computers. Why should I travel to go use a public computer for a confidential agreement? Also, she made me feel as though my questions were ridiculous and chuckled as she answered, like I've should of know the answers.

The website content/forms was actually really nice and easy to use. Their customer service, however, was horrendous. I tried cancelling my trial 3 times only to find the cancel button grayed out. The chat continuously told me that my subject line was too long (try again) - and even with a one word subject. I called today to cancel over the phone to report the technical issues to them, and they told me 'no one else has any problems'. I explained that I have worked in technology with websites for many years, and she said 'Well, you don't work here!'. Totally uncalled for when I'm just trying to give them website/technical feedback. I escalated to a manager when the first rep was so rude, and the manager was just as bad. I actually had considered cancelling my other legal program and come back to use this one once the other one expired (until today). I will NEVER use this service simply because of their support demeanor.
